Burial was in Cedar Creek Memorial Park 16701 State Highway 198.
Whatley was born Sept. 16, 1913, in Tuttle, Okla., and died June 5, 2004, in Athens.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Lou Whatley; brothers, Ollie Whatley, Jim L. Whatley; sisters, Norene Whatley, Margie Whatley, Nettie Dowdy; mother, Della Jones and father, Thomas Frances Whatley.
He was a builder and was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in World War II in which he was awarded the Bronze Star for bravery and two Purple Hearts.
Previously of Arkansas he lived in Gun Barrel City since 1966 and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Mabank.
Survivors include his sons, Tom Whatley and wife, Melba, Coppell; Bart Whatley and wife, Elaine, Culleoka, Tenn.; grandchildren, Bryan Whatley and wife, Linda, Rockwall; Robert Whatley and wife Valorie, Culleoka, Tenn.; Jason Whatley and wife, Lauren, Murfreesboro, Tenn.; Brandi Whatley Harrill and husband, Derek, Mabank; Amber Whatley Quisenberry and husband, Baird, Dallas; Brooke Whatley, Coppell; great-grandchildren, Kristen Whatley, Amanda Whatley, Matthew Whatley, Regan Whatley, Samuel Whatley, Abigale Harrill and Hannah Harrill; brothers, Arlie Whatley, Athens; Allan Whatley, Athens; sisters, Francis McAlister, Wynnewood, Okla.; Doris McKinney, Borger; and Sue Low, Kerrville.

Roy Gene Evans
Roy Gene Evans was born in Terrell on April 17, 1945 to Roy and Betty Jean DeGaugh Evans.
Roy passed away in a Mesquite hospital on June 4, 2004.
Roy was raised in Dallas and moved to Kemp in 1994 and later moved to Forney. He was a member of the Fireside Baptist Church in Dallas.
Roy is survived by his sons: Randy Evans of Missouri and Rodney Evans of Kaufman, daughter: Kimberly Hamm of Tennessee, parents: Roy and Betty Evans of Kemp, brother: Mark T. Evans of Kemp, sisters: Brenda Floyd of Scurry, Janice Wells of Tyler and Phyllis Capehart of Kemp, granddaughters: Alexis, Aubree, Haley and Heather, grandson: Dustin.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday June 6, 2004 at the Parker-Ashworth Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tom Gragg and Rev. Mack Costlow officiating.
Interment followed in Oakland Memorial Park in Terrell.
Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Parker-Ashworth Funeral Home of Kaufman.
Patricia Jane Robbins
A memorial celebration for Patricia Jane Robbins, 56, Mabank, will be held at 11 a.m. at her residence, 8403 CR 2530, Mabank, Saturday, June 12, 2004.
Robbins was born July 6, 1947, and died June 1, 2004, in Mabank.
Survivors include her daughter, Regina Rene‚ Strittmatter, son, Randall Ray Robbins, daughters, Regan Suzanne (Robbins) Ansell; and Cristy Madine Hardy Owens; nine grandchildren.

Royce Dickson Jr.
A memorial service for Royce Donald "Don" Dickson Jr., 47, will be held June 12, 2004, at Malakoff Cemetery with Gregg Thomas officiating.
Interment was private.
Dickson was born June 24, 1956, in Dallas, the son of Royce and Zerna Dickson and the grandson of Ellis and Mary "Dolly" Dickson and Frank and Irene Prestridge.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Zerna Dickson; grandparents, Ellis and Mary Dickson and Frank Prestridge.
Survivors include his son, Kyle Dickson, N.C.; father, Royce Dickson, Malakoff, sisters, Charlotte Simms (Forest), Dallas; Delta Watford (Robert) Bishopville, S.C.; grandmother, Irene Prestridge, Log Cabin; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Herman Rice
Graveside services for Herman Ray Rice, Eustace, were held June 5, 2004, at the Mankin Cemetery in Trinidad.
Arrangements were under the direction of New Hope Funeral Home in Sunnyvale.
Rice was born Feb. 14, 1925, and died June 2, 2004.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Hartford Rice and Mary Frances Langley.
Survivors include his wife, Bobbie Rice; daughters, Lenanna Allen and husband, Robert; Rhenda Skinner and husband, Bobby; Caryl Cook, June Rice; sons, Douglas Rice and wife, Juddie; Harold Rice; David Rice; 10 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.
James P. Hodges
Services for James P. Hodges, 83, Mabank, were held June 5, 2004 at Elm Grove Cemetery.
Hodges was born Sept. 2, 1920, in Laurel County, Ky., and died June 2, 2004, in Kemp.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Amanda Hodges; brother, W.D. Hodges; and sister, Alfreda Weems.
He was a truck driver.

Patrick Harris
Services of remembrance for Patrick Jerome Harris, 27, Kemp, were held May 30, 2004, at the Anderson Clayton Bros. Funeral Home in Kemp, with the Rev. Dub Henry officiating. Interment followed in Kemp Cemetery.
Harris was born Sept. 6, 1976, in Fort Ord, Calif., to Willie Oscar Harris Jr. and Sonja (Fesslmeier) Harris, and died May 27, 2004, in Kaufman.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Willie O. Harris Sr., and Rosie Harris.
He had lived in Kemp the past six months having moved here from Dallas. He was a graduate of Marcus High School in Flower Mound.
Survivors include his son, Keelan Harris, Dallas; mother, Sonja Anderson and husband, Dr. Tom Anderson, Kemp; father, Willie O. Harris Jr., Dallas; grandparents, Josef and Erma Fesslmeier, Germany; sister, Denise Harris, Germany; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Services for Mozelle Pendleton Parks, 80, Benton, Ark., were held June 2, 2004, at Anderson Clayton Bros. Funeral Home in Kemp, with the Rev. Dub Henry officiating.
Interment followed in Tool Cemetery in Henderson County under the direction of Anderson Clayton Funeral Home in Kemp.
Parks was born Paralee Mozelle Pendleton Aug. 2, 1923, in Athens, to Howard Jackson Pendleton and Irene Elizabeth (Bass) Pendleton, and died may 29, 2004, in Little Rock, Ark.
She attended Pentecostal Church as a child and was a faithful follower of Lakewood Church in Houston.
Survivors include her husband, Arlin Parks, children, Paul Toland, San Marcos; Jill Coker, Benton, Ark.; Dale W. Dunlap, Dallas; grandchildren, Derren Toland, Jason Toland, Cory Walters and Erin Coker; great-grandchildren; brother, J.C. Pendleton, Tool; sister, Vernelle Green, Payne Springs; and numerous other relatives and friends.

Brown was born Dec. 22, 1919, in Peducan and died May 26, 2004, in Rockwall. She was preceded in death by her mother, Mamie King; and father, Abner Heath Hinton.
She was a cashier.

Services for Marselle McShan Stegall, 84, Mabank, were held June 1, 2004, at Eubank Memorial Chapel.
Interment was in Oaklawn Cemetery, U.S. Highway 85, Mabank.
Stegall was born April 25, 1920, in Clear Creek, and died May 29, 2004, in Athens.
She was preceded in death by her father, Ira Dell McShan and mother, Thomas Edna McShan.
She was a beautician. She graduated in 1937 from Mabank High School and was a member of Order of Eastern Star, halcyon club, Garden Coub and Cedar creek Women's Club.
Survivors include her daughters, Wynelle Reeves, Mabank; Janet and her husband, Joe Miguel, Canton; Judy and her husband, Ronald Gene Groom, Canton, Ohio; grandchildren, Annette McKee, Mabank; Steve Reeves, Mabank; Stuart Reeves, Tyler; David Miguel, Edgewood; Deanna Lewis, Mansfield; Gary Groom, Shelby, N.C.; Teri Miller, Canton, Ohio; 20 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; sister, Charlotte Cotton and her husband, Grady, Mabank; many other family members and a host of friends.

Mixon was born Dec. 16, 1926, in Big Rock Community and died May 29, 2004, in Athens. She was preceded in death by her mother, Hattie L. Mixon; and her father, Less M. Abbott.
She was a beautician.
