Bill Moore
Services for William A. "Bill" Moore, 77, Tool, were held April 28, 2004, at the Tomlinson Funeral Home Chapel in Seven Points with Bro. Mike Manning officiating. Burial followed in King Cemetery in Seven Points under the direction of Tomlinson Funeral Home in Seven Points.
Moore was born June 3, 1926, in Sulphur Springs to Frank and Mamie Moore, and died April 24, 2004, in Tyler.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Tool.
Survivors include his wife, Doris Moore, Tool; stepson, Butch Canada, Kemp; brother Carl B. and wife, Faye Moore, Richardson; sister-in-law, Lula Moore, Emory and numerous nieces and nephews.
Cardell Albert Haller
Cardell Albert Haller, 64, Gun Barrel City, died April 23, 2004, in Dallas. He was born May 25, 1939, in Fort Worth.
He was a sheriff with the Dallas County Sheriff's office.
Survivors include his wife, Glenda Haller, Gun Barrel City; sons, Paul Haller, Mark Haller, Joe Haller, Bobby Haller Thomas Haller, all of Mabank; Shane Haller, Fort Worth; daughter, Susie Pinwheel, Houston; Jean Stokes, Garland; JoAnn Dimick, Kerens; Shannon Barber, Dublin; Karissa Haller, Mabank; brother, Michelle Haller, Odessa; and sister, Barbara Kevil, Lubbock.
Opal Louise Morgan
Services for Opal Louise, Morgan, 78, Tool, were held April 27, 2004, at Providence Baptist Church with Ted Eaton officiating. Interment was in Tool Cemetery.
Morgan was born May 27, 1925, in Tool and died April 22, 2004, in Hospice of East Texas.
She worked in retail sales as a cashier. She was a loyal and faithful member of Providence Baptist Church.
Survivors include her daughters, Rebecca and husband, Charles Smith; Shirley Hicks; and Mary Crosskno; son, Charles Crosskno; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; sisters, Willie Mae Johnson and Beth Grissom.
Edgar Weldon Kennedy
Edgar Weldon Kennedy was born in Henderson County, Texas on April 1, 1918 to Esker and Hattie Bell Kennedy. Kennedy passed away in Dallas April 25, 2004.
Edgar was raised in Henderson County and worked for Standard Service Parts and National Welding and Grinding until he retired in 1980.
He moved to Scurry and worked for Automotive Machine and Parts in Rosser. Edgar was a member of the First Pentecostal Church in Pleasant Mound in Dallas.
Jan. 7, 1940 Edgar married Elsie Tate.
He is survived by his wife: Elsie Kennedy of Scurry, son: Larry Weldon Kennedy of Scurry, daughters: Linda Shindoll of Garland, Eddie Holcomb of Kaufman and Sharon Cook of Kaufman, sister: Joyce Reese of Mabank, thirteen grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 27, 2004 at the Parker-Ashworth Funeral Home Chapel with interment following in King Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Parker-Ashworth Funeral Home of Kaufman.
Ray Fain
Memorial services for William Raymond Fain, 38, Log Cabin, were held April 27, 2004, at his residence. Arrangements were under the direction of Tomlinson Funeral Home of Malakoff.
Fain was born July 16, 1965, in Garland, and died April 22, 2004, in Tyler.
Survivors include his sisters, Vicki and husband, Richard Fain, Log cabin; Beverly Gothard, Wyle; and Sharon Shields, Garland; brother, Dennis Fain, Log Cabin.
Joyce Jackson
Services for Joyce Jackson, 73, Malakoff, were held April 27, 2004, at the First Baptist Church in Malakoff with Robert Webb officiating. Interment was in Forrest Hills Cemetery near Longview under the direction of Tomlinson Funeral Home in Malakoff.
Jackson was born March 10, 1931, in Harrison County to Luther Ray and Janie Davis, and died April 25, 2004, in Tyler. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Sena Jane Vinet in 1982.
She attended Methodist Hospital School of Nursing where she obtained her RN license. She then obtained her teaching certificate from Southwestern University in Georgetown. She obtained her masters degree in guidance and counseling from North Texas State University. She was a teacher of health and occupations at the grand Prairie Public Schools. She married Andy Jackson Jan. 14, 1950, in Houston.
Survivors include her husband of 54 years, Andy Jackson, Malakoff; sons and wives, Mark and Vicki Jackson, Burleson; Horace and Kendra Jackson, Mesquite; brother, Jim Davis, Longview; six grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the Hospice of East Texas, 4111 University Blvd., Tyler, TX, or to the First Baptist Church in Malakoff.
Jane Ford
Services for Jane Blackman Ford, 62, Mabank, were held April 25, 2004, in Eubank Memorial Chapel with Rev. Leonard Eason officiating. Interment was in Payne Springs Cemetery, under the direction of Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home of Mabank.
Ford was born Nov. 1, 1941, in Foyil, Okla., to Landen P. and Pearl E. (Butler) Karr and died April 23, 2004. She was preceded in death by her parents and son, Keith Waters.
She was dedicated to family and community. She served the Cedar Creek Chamber of Commerce, raising money for M.D. Anderson Cancer Center and numerous other charities. She will be remembered for her charity at home where she took in many kids who found their way into her home and heart. Food was always cooking in the kitchen.

Tony D. King
Graveside services for Tony D. King, 68, Kemp, were held April 26, 2004, in the DFW National Cemetery in Dallas, with the Rev. Dub Henry officiating. Interment was under the direction of Anderson Clayton Bros. Funeral Home of Kemp.
King was born Sept. 17, 1935, in Binger, Okla. to the late Elijah and Suzie (Huffmaster) King, and died April 21, 2004, at his residence.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and was a Christian by faith. He married Nancy Bradd Oct. 19, 1957 in Sonoma, Calif.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy King, Kemp; his loving children; and great-grandchildren; as well as numerous other relatives and friends.
Jack Neal Anderson
Services for Jack Neal Anderson, 86, Mabank, were held May 19, 2004, at the First Baptist Church of Mabank with Dr. James Harms officiating. Interment followed in Oaklawn Cemetery on State Highway 175 in Mabank.
Anderson was born April 9, 1918, in Mabank and died May 17, 2004, in Gun Barrel City. He was preceded in death by his mother, Frances Agnes Hearn, his father, Peter Andrew Anderson and brother, Robert Herne Anderson.
He was a Master Mason for fifty years and a lifetime member of the First Baptist Church of Mabank. He served as president and vice president of the Mabank Fire Department. He was a Boy Scout leader and served on the school board for many years. He taught Sunday School and was a songleader at the First Baptist Church in Mabank.
Survivors include his wife, LaVerne Anderson, Mabank; daughters, Pam (Anderson) Chandler and husband, Brant, Mabank; Marsha (Anderson) Morse, Mabank; grandchildren, Stacey Hampson and husband, Michael, Mabank; Melissa Zemanek and husband, Tony, Plano; Jennifer Chandler, Denton; Dustin Morse, Montana Morse, Hunter Morse and Brian Morse all of Mabank; great-grandson, Anthony Francis Zemanek, Plano; brother, William Andrew (Bill) Anderson, Austin; nieces, nephews, other family members and a host of friends.
Pallbearers were Brant Chandler, Michael Hampson, Tony Zemanek, Joe Klecka, Dick Bramblitt and Buster Hall.
Ellis Franklin
Services for Ellis "Dick" Franklin, 53, Mabank will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 22, 2004, at Central Baptist Church with Pastor Kenneth Hensley and Eulogist Pastor T.L. Robertson of Anointed Gospel Tabernacle Church officiating. Services are under the direction of Thomas & Sons Funeral Home of Kaufman.
Franklin was born June 30, 1950, in Mabank to Charlie and Ethel Mae Franklin. His life ended suddenly in a motor vehicle accident May 18, 2004.
He attended the Mabank Public schools and was an employee of Dan Johnson Construction Company. He married Anita Johnson Oct. 9, 1972 and they had four children. He was a member of Anointed Gospel Tabernacle where he served faithfully in the choir setting an example as a leader.
Survivors include his wife, Anita Franklin; sons, Ellis Franklin; Donavan Franklin (Shannon); Damione and Eric Franklin; all of Mabank; parents, Charlie and Ethel Mae Franklin, Mabank; sisters, Charlene Guillory, Gun Barrel City; and Mary Annette Denson, Terrell; nine grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Glen Johnson
Services for Glen Doyle Johnson, 51, Mabank, were held May 20, 2004, at Eubank Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Glen Blackmon officiating.
Interment followed in Oaklawn Cemetery on U.S. Highway 175 in Mabank.
Johnson was born Jan. 12, 1953, in Mabank and passed away May 18, 2004, in Mabank.
He was a lifetime resident of Mabank and a member of the First United Methodist Church of Mabank.
He was a member of the Dallas Muzzle Loading Club.
Survivors include his mother, Marie (Compton) Johnson, Mabank; brothers, Robert Johnson Jr., Mabank; Daniel Johnson, Mabank; and Billy Johnson, Mabank; sisters, Barbara Brundidge, Gun Barrel City; and Linda Hodge, Crandall; nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
Mary Burnham
Arrangements are pending for Mary "Cipe" Burnham, born Dec. 18, 1925, died May 18, 2004.
She was preceded in death by her husband, L.C. "Bud" Burnham of Gun Barrel City.

Thurman Phillips
Services of remembrance were held for Thurman "T.D." Phillips, 87, of Seven Points, June 8, 2004, at the Anderson Clayton Bros. Funeral Home in Kemp, with Rev. Eston Williams officiating.
Interment followed in the King Cemetery in Henderson County.
He was born Thurman Donald Phillips in the Aley community Sept. 20, 1916, the son of Thomas Phillips and Willie (Greenhaw) Phillips.
He died at Seven Points, June 6, 2004.
He had lived most of his life in the Aley area.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in WW II as a medic.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Aley.
He married Dovie Holley in Dallas and she preceded him in death on May 12, 1994.
Survivors include nieces, Diane Ackerman; Red Oak, Reba Aslin, Seven Points, Judy Sallee, Dallas; nephews, Donald Robinson; Madisonville; Roy Gene Little, Irving, John Little, Dallas; sister-in-law, Phyllis Little, Mesquite; and numerous other relatives and friends.
