Graveside services for Dorothy Winfrey Pearson, 87, Seven Points, formerly of Dallas were held Jan. 31, 2004, at Laurel Land Cemetery in Dallas under the direction of Tomlinson Funeral Home in Seven Points.
Pearson died Jan. 28, 2004, in Athens.
She retired from United Delco in Dallas after 33 years. She belonged to the American Legion Post 310 in Gun Barrel City and the VFW in Seven Points.
Survivors include her husband, Edward Pearson, Malakoff; son, Bill and his wife, Jean Winfrey, Seven Points; sisters, Mary Womack, Frisco; and Alyce Crossland, San Antonio; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild.
James Harley
Services for James Harley, 71, Payne Springs, were held Feb. 1, 2004, at the Autry Funeral Home Chapel in Jacksonville, with the Rev. J.A. Griffin officiating. Burial was in Woolford Cemetery near Frankston under the direction of Autry Funeral Home, Jacksonville.
Harley was born April 21, 1932, in Frankston and died Jan. 28, 2004, at his residence.
He was a paint contractor and Baptist by affiliation.
Survivors include his sons, Jimmy Harley, Payne Springs; Dennis Harley, Shreveport, La.; Tommy Dale Harley, Shreveport, La.; daughters, Lynn Pelham, Payne Springs; Peggy Harley, Shreveport, La.; Debbie Harley, Shreveport, La.; 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Rickey Harley, Dwayne Cawart, James Harley, Johnny Garner, Dusty Lagham and Paul Pelham.
Loretta C. Farmer
Services are pending for Loretta C. Bethurum Farmer, 79, Richardson, formerly of Mabank.
She died in Richardson Feb. 1, 2004, after a short illness.
Farmer was preceded in death by her husband, J.B. Farmer of Mabank.
Survivors include her children and their spouses. Sons, Jerry Lynn, Tommy Joe, Larry Wayne and Timothy Allen and daughter, Nancy Russell; six grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Vivian Recknagel
Graveside services for Vivian Jean Recknagel, 78, Mabank, were held Jan. 31, 2004, at Payne Springs Cemetery with the Rev. Don Bell officiating under the direction of Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home in Mabank.
Recknagel was born Sept. 23, 1925, in Cleburne, and died Jan. 28, 2004, in Tyler.
She was a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband, Don Recknagel, Mabank; sons, Bill Abshire, Mabank; James Abshire, Josa; eight grandchildren; brother, Harold Bishop, Cleburne.
Alice Frances Terhune
Graveside services for Alice Frances Terhune, 86, Malakoff, were held Feb. 3, 2004, in Malakoff with Brother Ron Huckabee officiating, under the direction of Tomlinson Funeral Home of Malakoff.
Terhune was born Sept. 30, 1918, in Salamanca, N.Y., and died Jan. 31, 2004, in Malakoff. She was preceded in death by her parents William S. and Gertrude Maler Wells, and her husband, Kenton Terhune in 1997.
She was a housewife and a Methodist and moved here from New York in 1980.
Survivors include her son, Alan Terhune, Malakoff; and her granddaughter, Marion Reynolds, Cumby.
Shirley Lynn Hilliard
Graveside services for Shirley Lynn Hilliard, 59, Log Cabin, were held Jan. 31, 2004, at Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Wolfe City, under the direction of Anderson Clayton Bros. Funeral Home of Kemp.
Hilliard was born April 6, 1944, in Commerce to James Crowell and Edith Pauline Crowell, and died Jan. 29, 2004, in Tyler.
Survivors include her children, Rhonda Rodriguez, Log Cabin; Tommy Redlinger, Scurry; Dan Hilliard, Log Cabin; and James Hilliard, Log Cabin; eight grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law, Vickie and Edd Miller, Kemp; cousin, Charles David Miller, Dallas; and numerous other relatives and friends.

Jack Courson
Services for Jack Harrington Courson, 62, Mabank, are under the direction of Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home of Mabank.
Courson was born Feb. 17, 1941, in Aquilla and died Feb. 1, 2004, in Kaufman.
He was a painter and veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a Mabank resident 14 years and a member of the American Legion Post 310 of Mabank.
Survivors include his daughters, Jacqueline Courson, Mabank; Cassondra Primrose, Seagoville; three grandchildren, one great-grandchild; mother, Mabel Courson, Athens; brothers, "Buddy" Alfred Courson, Mabank; "Gigger" William Courson, Trinidad; and "Roddy" Roderick Courson, Dallas.
Will Baker
Services for Will Baker, 14, Tool, were held Jan. 31, 2004, at the Providence Baptist Church in Tool, with the Rev. Tommy Merchant officiating. Interment followed in Tool Cemetery under the direction of Anderson Clayton Bros. Funeral Home of Kemp.
Baker was born Feb. 25, 1989, to Larry Baker and Cynthia Watts Baker King and died Jan. 28, 2004, in Gun Barrel City.
He was currently attending the Christian Life Academy and the Providence Baptist Church.
Survivors include his mother and father, Cindy Baker King and John King, Tool; brother, Marshall Baker, Tool; step-brother, Brian Baker, Jacksonville, Ark.; cousin, Kevin Deaver, Flower Mound; maternal grandmother, Billie Kunkle, Tool; paternal grandmother, Marge King, Tool; paternal grandparents, George and June Workman, Boaz, Ky.; and Dale Baker, Jacksonville, Ark; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Jackie Tate
Services for Jackie Tate, 95, Kaufman, were held April 9, 2004, at Anderson Clayton Bros. Funeral Home in Kemp, with the Rev. Dub Henry officiating. Interment followed in Hillcrest Memorial Park in Dallas under the direction of Anderson Clayton Bros. Funeral Home in Kemp.
Tate was born Dec. 21, 1908, in Maypearl, to William and Della Bean, and died April 9, 2004, in Greenville.
She graduated from Kemp High School and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Kemp. A daughter, Dorothy Mae Sparks; mother, Della Neal; and sister, Edna Crouch preceded her in death.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Buddy and Kathryn Tate, Tyler; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; 17 great-great-grandchildren and numerous other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers were Chris Thomas, Shawn Thomas, Russ Mahavier, Johnny Logue, Frank Luvar and Jimmy Tate.
Honorary pallbearers were Chase Wilson, Tate Wilson, Robert Freeman, Brian Mahavier and Sean Lovett.
Allen Strayhorn
Services for Allen Strayhorn, 18, Kemp, were held April 8, 2004, at First Baptist Church of Gun Barrel City with Mr. Byron Jones officiating. Interment followed in Kemp Cemetery under the direction of Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home of Mabank.
Strayhorn was born May 29, 1985, in Conroe and died April 5, 2004, in Kemp.
He was a student and an Awana leader in church.
Survivors include his parents, Deborah and Fred Strayhorn, Kemp; sisters, Toni Lynnette Hudson, Grand Prairie; Alicia Marie Whiteley, Rusk; grandparents, Thomas Grimes, Rusk; Nedra Hamilton, Jacksonville; and great-grandmother, Rosa Grimes, Jacksonville.

Jerry Don Herd
Services for Jerry Don Herd, 52, Mabank, were held at the Herd-smith Family Cemetery April 8, 2004 with Darrell Johnston officiating.
Herd was born April 11, 1951, in Dallas and died April 4, 2004, in Mabank. He was preceded in death by his mother, Millie Elizabeth Rozel; father, Clarence William Herd; and one brother and one sister.
He was a supervisor.

Nora Lee Pruitt
Services for Nora Lee Pruitt, 87, Mabank, were held at Donnelly's Colonial Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. George McGregor officiating. Burial followed at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Dallas, under the direction of Donnelly's Colonial Funeral Home, Irving.
Pruitt was born Oct. 8, 1916, in Watson, Okla., and died April 5, 2004, at a Kaufman hospital. She was preceded in death by her husband, George Pruitt in Feb. 1981.
She was employed by Haggar Mfg. Co. for 15 years. Previously of Dallas she moved to Mabank six years ago.
Survivors include her daughters, Wanda Collins (Bill), of McCaysville, Ga.; Marlene Reed and Helen Pruitt, both of Mabank; sons, Kenneth Pruitt (Vivian), Plano; Herman Pruitt (Janice), Payne Springs; Pete Pruitt (Judy), Garland; Dennis Pruitt, Mabank; daughter, Phyllis Nixon (Eddie), Payne Springs; 21 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; brothers, Hubert Ray and Bobby Ray, both of Pleasant Grove; sisters, Eunice Cummins, Pleasant Grove; and Janie Bell King, Fort Worth.
Bobby B. Thompson
Services for Bobby B. Thompson, 69, Kemp, were held April 8, 2004, at Anderson Clayton Bros. Funeral home Chapel in Kemp, with Pastor John A. Brennan officiating. Interment followed at St. Joseph Cemetery in Ennis, under the direction of Anderson-Clayton Bros. Funeral Home in Kemp.
Thompson was born April 13, 1934, in Ennis to William B. Thompson and Flora Fowler Thompson and died April 6, 2004, in Tyler.
He married Lillie Valek in Ennis, June 30, 1962. He had lived in Kemp the past 30 years.
Survivors include his wife, Lillie Thompson, Kemp; sons, Bryant Thompson, Kemp; Todd Thompson and his wife, D'Lana, Kemp; and Craig Thompson and wife, Diane, Kemp; grandchildren, Chelsea Thompson, Kemp; and Bradley Thompson, Houston; sister, Peggy Head, Ennis; and numerous other relatives and friends.
Lawrence E. Gann
Services for Lawrence E. Gann, were held April 9, 2004, at the Parker-Ashworth Chapel with the Rev. D.G. Council officiating. Interment followed in Wilson Chapel Cemetery under the direction of Parker-Ashworth Funeral Home of Kaufman.
Gann was born Sept. 27, 1914, in Kaufman County to Dillard and Manda Nix Gann, and died April 7, 2004, in a local hospital.
He was raised in the Kemp and Kaufman area and retired from the Texas Department of Transportation after 30 years of service. He married Janiece Collier in Kemp March 24, 1944.
Survivors include his wife, Janiece Gann, Kaufman; son, David Gann, New York; daughter, Marilyn Humphrey, Rockwall; grandchildren, Amanda Humphrey and Sarah Beth Humphrey and other relatives and friends.
