Richard E. West
Services for Richard E. "Dick" West Sr., 88, Round Rock, formerly of Tool, were held Jan. 3, 2004, at Anderson-Clayton Bros. Funeral Home in Kemp, followed by graveside services at Grove Hill Cemetery in Dallas. West's grandson, the Rev. Mickey Krone, officiated.
West was born July 14, 1915, in Alsdorf to the late Austin and Annie Laura West, and died Jan. 1, 2004. He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Pauline West, Tool.
He enjoyed fishing, watching "Walker, Texas Ranger" and football. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge for more than 50 years. He retired from Dallas Power & Light after 44 years, and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy during World War II.
Survivors include his brother, Bobby West, Kansas City, Mo.; daughter, Patsy Werline and her husband, the late Homer Werline, Round Rock; son, Richard E. West Jr. and his wife, Janice West, Argyle; daughter, Judith McBride and her husband Penn McBride, Tool; and son, the late Charles West and his wife Patty West, Scottsdale, Ariz.
He is also survived by nine grandchildren, the late Jan Krone, Jimmie Gail Bartz, Mickey Krone and his wife, Shelly; Jackie Ivicic and her husband, Jeff; Tina Cheramie and her husband, Paul; Linda Bailey and her husband, Rob; Jean Anne Brown and her husband, Jeff; Derek West; Michelle Myers and her husband, Ricky; and Evie Werner and her husband, Billy; 21 great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren; along with many nieces, nephews and friends.

Shirley Carroll
Graveside services for Shirley Carroll, 70, San Augustine, were held Jan. 3, 2004, at Newman Cemetery in Angelina County near Lufkin, under the direction of Stringer & Griffin Funeral home of Jasper.
Carroll died Jan. 1, 2004, at Colonial Pine Nursing Home in San Augustine. She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, William Truitt Carroll.
A native of Angelina County and former longtime resident of Dallas, she had lived for the past 10 years in Cedar Creek. She was a retired beauty operator and mobile home park manager. She was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post 4376 in Seven Points, and loved to fish and cook.
Survivors include her daughter, Susan Hataway and her husband, Wesley, Jacksonville; brother, Rinkey Blackburn, Brookeland; grandchildren, J.W. Dorris, John Wesley Dorris and David Dorris.
Memorials may be made to the VFW Post 4376, Veterans Lane, Seven Points, TX 75143.

Catherine Williams Ebert
Services for Catherine Williams Ebert, 78, Gun Barrel City, were held Jan. 5, 2004, at Eubank Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Leonard Eason officiating. Burial was in Grove Hill Memorial Park under the direction of Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home of Mabank.
She was a homemaker and member of the Ladies Aloha Organization of East Wood Island.
Survivors include her husband, Marvin Ebert, Gun Barrel City; son, Ronald and his wife, Magie Corry, Mesquite; daughter, Judy Williams Davis, Mesquite; Cathy Williams Masters, Dallas; sisters, Ima Jean Williams, Nacogdoches, and Pattie Ruth Williams, Alvarado; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren; along with many nieces and nephews.
Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Disease, 3000 Carlisle, Suite 208, Dallas, TX 75204.

Glenna B. Cullum
Today, Dec. 29, 2003, the Lord called our Mother home.
She died at home with her family by her side.
Glenna B. Cullum (mom) was preceded in death by her husband, John Cullum; daughter, Glenda Chambers; brother, Billy Earl Cluck; grandson, John Greenhaw; and great-grandson, Marcos Reyes.
She was a member of Aley Baptist Church and had lived in Seven Points for 35 years.
She was born May 27, 1922, and spent her childhood in Rule, where she met and married John S. Cullum.
She left behind two daughters and sons-in-law, Tina and Jim Duncan of Seven Points; and Wanda and Aalon Wilkins, Carthage; son, Pete Cullum, Mabank; sister, Frances Taylor, Kaufman.
She had 20 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Services were held at Anderson Clayton Funeral Home in Seven Points with the Rev. Danny Cope officiating.
Pallbearers were two very special friends, Bryan Cope, her nurse Russell, grandson John Baker, Scooter, J.R. and Delbert Nash.
Honorary pallbearers were her grandsons, Kenny Bullock, known as "Heavy," Chris Wilkins, John Baker, Billy Chambers, Randy Chambers, two great-grandsons, Steven Luff and Camron Baker, and special friends, Chris Ferguson and Jake Linder.
Cullum left behind three very special friends, Bobbie, Russell and Lila of Cedar Lake Hospice.

Jeffrey Wayne Fraze
Memorial services for Jeffrey Wayne Fraze Jr., 17, of Eustace were held Jan. 29, 2004, at First Baptist Church of Eustace with the Revs. Paul McKinney and Ron Huckaby officiating, under the direction of Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home of Mabank.
Fraze was born Jan. 31, 1986 in Corsicana, and died Jan. 22, 2004 in Eustace.
He is survived by his mother and husband, Susan and Rick Moyes of Eustace; his father and wife, Jeff and Yalonda Fraze, Sr. of Grand Prairie; brother, Jason Williams of Grand Prairie; sisters, Mandi Williams of Lone Wolf, Okla., and Cassie Hudson, Christina Moyes and Shea Moyes all of Eustace; grandparents, Barbara Sims of Redfield, Ark., Melvin and Judith Harrison of Gun Barrel City, Bob and Judy Micek of Old Town, Idaho, Homer and Jan Young of Midlothian and aunts, uncles and other friends and relatives.

Eunice Jenkins
Services for Eunice Jenkins, 89, Kemp, were held Jan. 31, 2004, in Eubank Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Dub Henry officiating. Burial was in Ware Cemetery in Kaufman County under the direction of Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home in Mabank.
Jenkins was born Feb. 26, 1914, in Fort Worth, and died Jan. 28, 2004, in Kemp.
She was a homemaker and was a resident of Kemp since 1987. She was previously of Red Oak.
Survivors include her daughters, Wanda Tynes, Kemp; Johnnie Davis, Kemp; Linda Raines, Kemp; nine grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and 15 great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Gertrude Bailey, Mesquite; Hattie Cox, Mesa, Ariz.; Judith Gayle, Kemp; nieces, nephews, other family members and a host of friends.
Pallbearers were Leonard Eason, Philip Eason, Stephen Eason, Thomas Eason, Dusty Holland and Nikki Poole.

Dorothy Pearson
Graveside services for Dorothy Winfrey Pearson, 87, Seven Points, formerly of Dallas were held Jan. 31, 2004, at Laurel Land Cemetery in Dallas under the direction of Tomlinson Funeral Home in Seven Points.
Pearson died Jan. 28, 2004, in Athens.
She retired from United Delco in Dallas after 33 years.
She belonged to the American Legion Post 310 in Gun Barrel City and the VFW in Seven Points.
Survivors include her husband, Edward Pearson, Malakoff; son, Bill and his wife, Jean Winfrey, Seven Points; sisters, Mary Womack, Frisco; and Alyce Crossland, San Antonio; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild.

John Haldeman
Services for John M. Haldeman, 80, Canton, were held Jan. 27, 2004, in Eubank Chapel in Canton. Burial was in Haven of Memories Park, Canton, under the direction of Eubank Funeral Home of Canton.
Haldeman was born Oct. 10, 1923, in Worthington, Ind., to Dewey and Mary Olive Harshman Haldeman, and died Jan. 27, 2004, in Canton after a long illness. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Thelma City and Delores Wilcox; and a son, Robert Terry Haldeman.
He was a Methodist and graduated in 1942.
He lived in Worthington, Ind., until he joined the service.
He was proud of his military service and retired as a Major in the U.S. Army.
He was a lifetime member of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and Disabled Veterans.
He enjoyed reading and loved to play cards with family and friends. He enjoyed watching football.
Survivors include his wife, Peggy Haldeman, Canton; sons, John Haldeman, Canton; and Steve Haldeman, So. Carolina; daughters, Nancy Walker, Downey, Calif.; Susan Fowler, Bloomfield, Ind.; and Julie Haldeman, Mabank; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and other relatives and a host of friends.
Pallbearers were military.

Bruce Noel Sawyer
Funeral services for Bruce Noel Sawyer Sr., 55, of Eustace, were held Jan. 29, 2004, at Cooper Funeral Home Chapel in Athens, with Billy Cissell and Tommy Merchant officiating.
Burial followed in Oaklawn Memorial Park in Athens, under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Athens.
He was born Nov. 13, 1948, in Dallas and died Jan. 22, 2004.
He attended North Dallas High School and Dallas Baptist University.
He worked as an automation engineer with Leggett & Platt for 25 years and lived in Eustace for 16 years.
Survivors include his wife of 30 years, Diane Sawyer of Eustace; son, Bruce Noel Sawyer Jr., of Payne Springs; daughters, Tina Rios of Dallas, Priscilla Morones, Dana Alvarado and Michele Martinez, all of Eustace; father, Ken Sawyer of Edgewood; mother, Lucille Formby of Dallas; brother, Glenn Sawyer of Edgewood; 13 grandchildren; one great-grandchild and other relatives.
Pallbearers included Anthony Morones, Homer Martinez, Matt Williams, George Morones and Van Harris.

Linda Jo Mayfield
Services for Linda Jo Mayfield, were held Jan. 28, 2004, in First Baptist Church in Kaufman and a service followed at Union Baptist Church in Union with interment in Union Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Parker-Ashworth Funeral Home of Kaufman.
Mayfield was born Aug. 18, 1947, in Sulphur Springs to Aubrey and Isabel Stalcup Funderburk and died Jan. 26, 2004, in a Dallas hospital. She was preceded in death by her father, Aubrey Funderburk and a sister, Nan Carolyn Gross.
She graduated from Sulphur Springs schools and was active in the Hopkins County 4-H Saddle Club. She was a rodeo racer.
She graduated from East Texas State University with a degree in education and taught at schools in Kemp, Ennis, Como-Pickton and Kaufman.
She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and had petitioned to be included in the Daughters of the Confederacy. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Kaufman.
Her most cherished honor was being voted Teacher of the Year at Kaufman High School.
Survivors include her husband, George "Shorty" Mayfield, Kaufman; sons and daughters-in-law, Shawn and Tammy Mayfield, Kaufman; and Mike and Lisa Mayfield, Denton; mother, Isabel Funderburk, Sulphur Springs; brother, Dave Funderburk, Sulphur Springs; and granddaughter, Ansley Stewart.
Family requests memorials be made to the American Cancer Society and to the Union Cemetery Association.

Billie Oswald
Services for Billie Oswald, 80, Gun Barrel City, were held Jan. 31, 2004, at the Eubank Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Terry Potter officiating. Burial was in Baker Cemetery in Kemp under the direction of Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home of Mabank.
Oswald was born Oct. 7, 1923, in Castor, La., and died Jan. 29, 2004, in Kaufman.
She was a homemaker and had lived in Gun Barrel City for 33 years.
Survivors include her daughter, Karen McGrew, Mabank; son John and his wife, Debbie Oswald, Mabank; granddaughter Alanna and her husband, Nathan Cobb, Mabank; grandson, James Oswald, Austin; Matt Oswald, Mabank; and John Oswald Jr., Mabank; brother, Raymond Brown, Corsicana; and sister, Kathryn Walker, West Monroe, La.
Pallbearers were Victor Cheeks, David Owens, Joe Owens, Chad Peterson, Ronnie Stanfield and George Welch.
