CLEO AUGUSTA TEEL
Cleo Augusta Teel, 82, of Highlands, passed over peacefully and into the eternal presence of the Lord Jesus Christ, July 28, 2003. She was blessed with a long life and by God’s grace enjoyed her final days in her home, doing the things she enjoyed.
Born Cleo (Venghaus) in Columbus, TX, she always cherished her family, her heritage and was proud to be a Texan, a Methodist and mother of her four surviving children, David, Gerald, Marigale (Horton) and Paul, as well as seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. Her late husband, Adron H. Teel, preceded her in death.
She lived in Highlands since 1938 and married there in 1941. An active member of Highlands United Methodist Church for 55 years, she faithfully raised her children in the church and through God’s faithfulness saw them and their children come to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ as Lord. She was also an active member of the Highlands Book Review Club and the former Highlands Art League.
Her children gratefully acknowledge so many fine qualities she and Adron exhibited through their life and how those have impacted their own families and generations that follow her. As parents, she and Adron modeled good citizenship, active and patriotic in love of their country and fellowman. A very practical woman, she was also generous toward many charities and those in need.
An avid reader from youth, she must have read a thousand books in her lifetime and was an enthusiastic world traveler and history buff. She enjoyed the arts and was an accomplished painter, creative in ceramics and crafts of all sorts.
She will be missed as well by many outside her family including close friends from church and in her neighborhood in Highlands where she had lived since 1946.
