Durwood McGlaun
Services for Durwood "J.D." McGlaun, 81, Mabank, were held Nov. 15, 2003, at the Eubank Memorial chapel with the Revs. Steve Ballard and Charles Davis officiating. Burial was in Goshen Cemetery, under the direction of Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home of Mabank.
McGlaun was born July 23, 1922, in Henderson County and died Nov. 13, 2003, in a Canton. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank McGlaun and Pearl Thompson; brothers, Neuman, Harvey and Robert; sister, Winnie Lou Tarlton.
He served in the U.S. Army and was No. one+ ambulance driver of the 575th Ambulance Co., following General Patton. He retired from the Ford Motor Co. Jan. 1, 1985, with 30 years service. He enjoyed gardening and fishing.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Doris McGlaun, Mabank; brother, Melvin McGlaun, Athens; daughter, Letha and her husband, Willie Wheeler, Seagoville; grandchildren, Terry Wheeler, Tenn.; Tammy and Mike Harrington, Forney; great grandchildren, Tyler and Chelsea Harrington; brother and sister-in-law, Melvin and Pauline McGlaun, Athens; numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Pallbearers were Billy McGlaun, Kenneth McGlaun, William Smith, Doug Tarkington, Floyd Lee Tarlton and Terry Wheeler.
T.G. Shown
Memorial services for T.G. Shown, 74, Gun Barrel City, were held Nov. 21, 2003, in St. Jude Catholic Church with Father Joe Mehan officiating, under the direction of Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home of Mabank.
Shown was born May 25, 1929, in Missouri and died Nov. 16, 2003, in Kaufman.
He was a tractor operator and veteran of the U.S. Army.
Survivors include his wife, Elaine Shown, Gun Barrel City; daughter, Jerri and her husband, Gary Walker, Caddo Mills; sister, Lawan and her husband, Gene Sharp, Fort Worth; brothers, F.G and Goldie Shown, Cole Camp, Mo.; James and Barbara Shown, Kingston, Okla.; grandsons, Caleb and Zachery Walker.
William Lee Rinnels
Services for William Lee "Bill" Rinnels, 64, Tool, were held Nov. 15, 2003, at Tomlinson Funeral Home Chapel, Seven Points, with Leonard Eason officiating.
Burial followed in Mankin Cemetery, Trinidad under the direction of Tomlinson Funeral Home of Seven Points.
Rinnels was born July 8, 1939, in Sheffield, Iowa to Herman H. and Edna Kriene Rinnels, and died Nov. 13, 2003, at his residence.
He worked for Sprint Telephone 25 years and received a safe driving award every year. He was an avid fisherman and an U.S. Army veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Jan Rinnels; daughters, Tanya Self and her husband, Jimmy, Shreveport, La.; Cindy England and her husband, Chris, Eustace; and Rhonda Baggott, Payne Springs; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Jasmine Hale Andrews
Graveside services for Jasmine Hale Andrews, 19 months, Athens, were held Nov. 18, 2003, at the North Athens Cemetery in Athens under the direction of Tomlinson Funeral Home in Malakoff.
Jasmine was born April 14, 2002, in Athens to Latoya Nacole Andrews and Justin Ashley Hale and died Nov. 14, 2003, in Dallas.
Survivors include her parents; brother, Justin Hale, Athens; grandparents, Antrionette Andrews and Nolan Wiley, Athens; Paul and Rebeca Grosch, Fort Campbell, Ky.; John Kelly and Diane Hale, Sherman; great-grandparents, Annette Andrews, Athens; Anester Larkin, Sacramento, Calif.; Joe and Connie Fenley, Payne Springs; John and Melba Hale, Palmer; Emma Gaddis, Mabank; special friend, Caitlyn Delos Santos and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
James A. Sanderson Jr.
Services for James A. Anderson Jr., 27, Malakoff, were held Nov. 17, 2003, at Carroll-Lehr Funeral Home of Athens with the Rev. Rich Dunbar officiating. Burial followed in Post Oak Cemetery in Malakoff under the direction of Carroll-Lehr Funeral Home of Athens.
Sanderson was born April 15, 1976, in Dallas and died Nov. 14, 2003, in Hamilton County. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Billy Joe Webb; and aunt, Phyllis Lynn Webb.
Survivors include his daughter, Reilley Lynn Sanderson; father, James A. Sanderson Sr., Grand Prairie; mother and stepfather, Martha Robinson Brock and James Brock, Malakoff; sister, Shauna Davis, Malakoff; brothers, Billy Huey, Irving; Clifford Huey and Danny K. Robinson, both of Athens; grandmother, Gladys I. Webb, Malakoff; and several aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces and cousins.
Pallbearers were Danny Robinson, Clifford Huey, Thomas Toney, Sam Critz, Tom Brock and David McCorkley.
Shaun Daniel Givney
Services for Shaun Daniel Givney, 17, Mabank, were held Nov. 24, 2003, at the Christian Life Center Church in Gun Barrel City, with Revs. Barry Boatright and Kenny White officiating. Interment followed in the Payne Springs Cemetery in Henderson County, under the direction of Anderson Clayton Bros. Funeral Home of Kemp.
Givney was born March 3, 1986, in Dallas to Gregory Dale Givney and Canduth Harkey Givney and died Nov. 18, 2003, in Henderson County.
He attended Mesquite and Eustace High Schools and was currently attending Trinity Valley Community College in Athens.
He was very active and devoted member of the Christian Life Center Church, and was also affiliated with the Baptist Student ministries and at the Ark Ministry. He loved his family, friends and his faith in Jesus Christ. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Survivors include his mother, Candy Mitchell and her husband, Dennis, Payne Springs; father, Greg Givney, Dallas; brothers, Brian Givney, Groveland, Fla.; and Billy McNicholas, Joshua; sisters, Traci McNicholas, Piedmont, Mo.; and Kristyn McNicholas, Joshua; grandparents, Dan and Wanda Givney, Dallas; Bob and Ann :harkey, Spartanburg, S.C.; and Raelene Harkey White, Iowa; great grandmother, Bea Norwood, Dallas; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family requested that donations be made to the Shaun Givney Memorial Scholarship Fund, c/o Trinity Valley Community College, in Athens.
Faye Huckaby
Services for Gladys Faye Huckaby, 85, Tool, were held Nov. 24, 2003, at the Providence Baptist Church in Tool with Brothers Ted Eaton and Irvan Anthony officiating. Burial was in Tool Cemetery under the direction of Tomlinson Funeral Home in Seven Points.
Huckaby was born July 18, 1918, in Mabank to William Thomas and Gertrude Mae White, and died Nov. 21, 2003, in Tyler. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Franklyn Huckaby.
She moved to Tool from Dallas 34 years ago and was a member of the Providence Baptist Church and a beautician.
Survivors include her children, Pat Huckaby, Patricia King and Priscilla Kirby, all of Tool; sisters, Beth Grissom, Malakoff; Opal Morgan and Willie Mae Johnson, both of Tool; grandchildren, Dougie Roberts, Ty King, Shara Wynne, Curt Roberts, Chad King, Shannon Roberts and clay Huckaby; great-grandchildren, Trent King, Brice King, Clayton Huckaby, Trevor King, Reed Roberts, Colton Roberts, Hunter Wynne, Caleb Roberts, Drew Roberts, Brooke Roberts, and Jourdan Bradley.

Warren S. Sparks
Services for Warren S. Sparks, 90, Mabank, were held Nov. 24, 2003, in the First Baptist Church, Gun Barrel City, with the Revs. Byron Jones and Denny Gorena officiating. Burial followed in Laurel Land Memorial Park.
Sparks was born Oct. 5, 1913, in Franklin County and died Nov. 20, 2003, in Athens.
He was a salesman and veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He retired from Frito-Lay after 32 years in sales. He was a charter member of the First Baptist Church Gun Barrel City.
Survivors include his wife, Doris (Dee) Sparks, Mabank; daughter-in-law, Jan Sparks Dahlgard, Katy; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Orie Mathews, Curtis Nevillie, Aaron Sparks, Corbett Sparks, Justin Sparks and Greg Williams.
Joyce Tarlton Sparks

Sparks was born July 11, 1940, in Mabank and died Nov. 20, 2003, in Athens. She was preceded in death by a son, Clay T. Sparks.
She was teacher. She graduated as a Valedictorian from Mabank High School in 1958 and was a gifted speech and drama coach. She graduated from East Texas State University.
Survivors include her husband, Clay Sparks, Gun Barrel City; daughters, Anne Sparks, Houston; Cathy Sparks, MI; Sharyn Sparks Fullington, Mesquite; son, Kenneth Sparks, Mesquite; brothers, Floyd Tarlton, Mabank; H.W. Tarlton, Mabank; Johnny Tarlton, Mabank; Travis Tarlton, Mabank; sister, Mary Ann Tarlton, Mabank; grandchildren, Amanda, Jon, Jonathan, Lauren, Matthew, Nicholas, Rachel, Sarah and Steven.

B.T. Rand III
Services for B.T. Rand III, 54, Mabank, were held Nov. 23, 2003, at Eubank Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Bobby Sapp and Charlie Brock officiating. Burial was in Oaklawn Cemetery under the direction of Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home of Mabank.
Rand was born Aug. 3, 1949, in Kaufman and died Nov. 21, 2003, in Athens.
He was a fabricator and a lifelong resident of Mabank and Prairieville areas. He was employed 23 years with LTV, Dallas, then worked as an independent flooring contractor.
Survivors include his wife, Ettajean Rand III, Mabank; sister, Paulette Blackburn, Mabank; brother, Tommy Rand, Austin; grandchildren, Trevor Chasteen, Candace and Cooper Clayburn, and Clay and Jacob Parker; daughters and son-in-law, Cindy and Cody Clayburn, Mabank; and Jennifer and Bennie Glenn, Mabank.
Glenda Faye Ficklin
Services of remembrance for Glenda Faye Ficklin, 73, Malakoff, were held at the Mankin Cemetery in Trinidad under the direction of Anderson Clayton Bros. Funeral Home of Kemp with the Rev. Jim Shafer officiating.
Ficklin was born Aug. 15, 1930, in Navarro County to Frank and Blanche (Strange) Ficklin and died Nov. 17, 2003, in Malakoff.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Floyd Ficklin of Dallas and a sister, Willie B. Hines of Malakoff.
She was a member of Aley Baptist Church.
Survivors include her brother, L.E. Ficklin, Mabank; nieces and nephews, Brenda, Canton, Mo.; Linda Hogdon, Dallas; Pam Causey, Port Lavaca; and L.E. Ficklin, Jr, Jacksonville, Fla.; and numerous other relatives and friends.

Hunter was born Nov. 29, 1908, in Tennessee Colony and died Nov. 19, 2003, in Athens.
Corena Jones
Services for Corena "Hopkins" Jones, 68, Gun Barrel City were held Jan. 10, 2004, at Eubank Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Don Teague officiating. Burial was in Elm Grove Cemetery under the direction of Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home of Mabank.
Jones was born June 20, 1935, in Mabank and died Jan. 7, 2004, in Athens. She was preceded in death by her sister, Lola Anderholm; and sons, Daniel Smith and Thomas Smith.
She was a bookkeeper.
