Services for Doris M. Followwell, 70, Athens, were held Aug. 1, 2003, at the Corley Funeral Home in Corsicana, with Bro. Bill Honea officiating. Interment was in Hamilton-Beeman Cemetery under the direction of Corley Funeral Home, Corsicana.
Followwell was born April 14, 1933, in Mabank and died July 30, 2003, in Athens. She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Stella Pruitt; husband, Elmer Lee Followwell; and sisters, Virginia Morris and Barbara Epperson.
Survivors include her sister, Margaret Sue Bridges, Gun Barrel City; aunt, Hazel Moore, Lubbock; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Shirley Sue Thompson
Services for Shirley Sue Thompson, 68, Mabank, were held Aug. 1, 2003, in Eubank Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Don Bell officiating. Interment was in Oaklawn Cemetery under the direction of Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home of Mabank.
Thompson was born Oct. 7, 1934, in Oklahoma, and died July 30, 2003, in Mabank. She was preceded in death by husbands, L.D. Perry and Harvey Thompson, and son, Clifton Perry.
She was a sales representative.
Survivors include her son, Mike and wife, Vicki Bailey, Irving; daughter, Margaret Perry, Hughes Springs; sister, Donna Griffin, Orange; grandsons, Chad Bailey, Patrick Bailey, Michael Perry; granddaughters, Katharine Bailey and Madison Perry.
Harold Morgan
Services for Harold Craig Morgan, 56, Plano, were held July 29, 2003, at the Chapel at Tomlinson Funeral Home, Seven Points with the Rev. Eston Williams, United Methodist Church officiating. Interment followed in Mankin Cemetery under the direction of Tomlinson Funeral Home of Seven Points.
Morgan was born Aug. 18, 1946, in San Saba and died July 26, 2003, in Plano. He was preceded in death by his mother, Cassie Morgan and a son, Bryan Bjornson.
He was an auto repairman for National Tire and Battery. He was a member of the Elks Lodge in Mesquite. He was a Staff Sgt., U.S. Army.
Survivors include his wife, Jo Ann Morgan, Plano; father, D.C. Morgan, Dallas; children, Matt Morgan, Corsicana; Chad Morgan, Waxahachie; Misti Lane, Dublin; and Brandi Gonzalez, Garland; nine grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Ray Tobias, James Thompson, Harold Moore and Chris Goodman.
Opal Bennett
Services for Opal "Sally" Bennett were held July 21, 2003, at the Grove Hill Funeral Home. Interment followed in Payne Springs Cemetery.
Bennett was born Sept. 9, 1914, and died July 17, 2003.
Survivors include her sons, Sam Bennett and wife, LaVada; Jerry Bennett; Tommy Bennett and wife, Cindy; daughters, Faye Russell and husband, Curtis; Peggy Short and husband, Charles; sister, Mildred Cope; 14 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; and six great great grandchildren.
Minnie Taylor
Services for Minnie Taylor, 92, Gun Barrel City, were held Aug. 1, 2003, in Eubank Memorial Chapel with Ken Maddox officiating. Interment followed in Laurel Oaks Cemetery under the direction of Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home of Mabank.
Taylor was born May 11, 1911, in Coldwell County and died July 30, 2003, in Ennis. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Taylor and sons, Clyde Roberts and J.G. Roberts.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Tamarack Ladies Club.
Survivors include her sisters, Judy Finch, Dallas; and Annie Mecom, Buchanan Down; nine grandchildren; six great grandchildren; four great great grandchildren; nieces, nephews.
Pallbearers were Brad Beddingfield, Tommy Beddingfield, Don Brooks, Jerry Smith Jr., Jerry Smith III and Chester Tapp.
Frances Caves
Graveside services for Frances Caves, 67, Mesquite, formerly of Grand Saline, were held Sept. 10, 2003, at Sand Flat Cemetery with Brothers Homer Morgan and Jim Adkins officiating, under the arrangements of Bartley Funeral Home, Grand Saline.
Caves was born Jan. 25, 1936, in Styx to the late Robert and Lucille Shugart McClatchey, and died Sept. 7, 2003, in a Mesquite hospital.
She was preceded in death by her son, Bubba Caves, and sister, Jean Mills.
She lived in Mesquite for 43 years and was a Baptist.
Survivors include her husband, L.D. Caves, Mesquite; daughters, Paula Wade, Trinidad; ;and Charmion Berry, Rock Springs, Wyo.; brother, Robert McClatchey, Malakoff; sisters, Jackie Rushing, Aubrey; Patsy Hubbard and Dorothy Leopard, both of Trinidad; and Margaret Pritchett, Avalon; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Chris Hubbard, James Madden, Rick Goble, Michael Collins, Marion Ragsdale and Calvin Caves.
Jason William Fanning
Memorial services for Jason William Fanning, 25, Richardson, were held Sept. 10, 2003, at Eubank Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Bobby Wilkinson officiating.
Arrangements were under the direction of Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home of Mabank.
Fanning was born Aug. 26, 1978, in Dallas, and died Sept. 5, 2003, in Allen.
He was an artist.
Survivors include his father, John Fanning and mother, Rebecca Fanning, both of Richardson; brother, Brian Fanning, McKinney; grandmother, Glenna Fanning, Gun Barrel City; aunts, Linda, Cathy, Connie and Nancy; uncles, Marvin, Kelly, Greg and Ron; and nephew, Bailey Fanning.
Dennis Davis
Services for Rudeen Dennis Davis Jr., 52, Athens, were held Sept. 10, 2003, at the Payne Springs Cemetery.
Davis died Sept. 4, 2003, in Athens.

Leon Mucha
Graveside services for Leon Mucha, 75, Malakoff, were held Sept. 10, 2003, at the Malakoff Cemetery with Bro. Ron Huckabee officiating.

Mucha passed away Aug. 23, 2003, in Tyler.
Trevor Owen Jones
Memorial services for Trevor Owen Jones, 72, Mabank, were held Sept. 8, 2003, at the First Presbyterian Church in Mabank with the Rev. Ron Holloman officiating.
Jones was born Sept. 14, 1930, in Buffalo, N.Y., and died Sept. 4, 2003, in Mabank.
He was a civil engineer and veteran of the U.S. Air Force.
Survivors include his wife, Marlene Jones, Mabank; sons, Brian S. Jones, Naples, Fla.; Mathew S. Jones, Lexington, Ky.; Stephen E. Jones, Houston; daughter, Deborah A. R.G. Bland
Graveside services for R.G. Bland, 81, Tyler, were held Sept. 12, 2003, at Tyler Memorial Park Cemetery with the Revs. Ron Wells and Don Wheeler officiating under direction of Burks-Walker-Tippit Funeral Directors, Tyler.
Bland was born Jan. 15, 1922, in Maisefield to the late William Kelly and Johnnie Bell Jenkins Boland, and died Sept. 9, 2003.
He served in the 778th Tank Battalion of the Army during World War II and received a Purple Heart and two Bronze Stars.
He was a member of the Southside Baptist Church, St. John's Lodge, Sharon Temple, where he was a past president of Sharon Temple Horse Patrol, a 32nd-degree Mason, member of Local 112 Asbestos Workers of Lake Charles, La., Disabled American Veterans and Veterans of Foreign Wars.
He owned a commercial insulation company and later worked at Sandefer and Son Motors, Inc.
He was preceded in death by brother, Hugh Bland; and granddaughter, Dana Lynn Bland.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Mary Bland; sons, Jimmy Bland, Tyler; and Richard Bland, Fort Worth; daughter, Linda Sandefer, Tyler; brother, Johnny R. Bland, Cedar Hill; sisters, Wanda Jenkins, Joy McAllister, Belle Fern Lawson, all of Sanger; and Olta Clark, Mabank; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Honorary pallbearers were Charles Ray, Cliff Wallace, Ed Hartman and Noble Wise.
Memorials may be made to Scottish Rite Hospital, Shriner's Children's Hospital, or charity of choice.
Winnelle Wise
Services for Winnelle Wise, 81, Van Alstyne, were held Sept. 20, 2003, at the First Baptist Church, Eustace with the Rev. James Kinmon officiating. Burial was in Moorehead-Melton Cemetery under the direction of Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home of Mabank.
Wise was born Feb. 19, 1922, in Eustace, and died Sept. 17, 2003, in Van Alstyne.
She was employed as a key punch operator with the U.S. Postal Service and was a Sunday School teacher at First Baptist Church, Eustace.
Survivors include her daughter, Barbara and her husband, Jack Washington, Van Alstyne; brother, Evon and his wife, Pat Harper, Kaufman; stepchildren, Natalie Washington and Nathan and his wife, Cynthia Washington; grandson, Casey and his wife, Natalie McCollough, Dallas; granddaughter, Corrin McCollough, Aubrey; nephews, Garry Harper, Terrell; Steve Harper, Kaufman; nieces, Nelda Campbell, Athens; Laurie Harper, Kaufman; and Sharon Jones, DeSoto.
Pallbearers were Ashley Harper, Steve Harper, Nowell Kinard, Billy Mosley, Bill Todd and Natalie Washington.
Virgle Gene Vinson
Services for Virgle Gene "Poppa" Vinson, 65, Kemp, were held Sept. 18, 2003, at the Anderson Clayton Brothers Funeral Home of Kemp with the Rev. Jim Renfro officiating. Interment followed in the Kemp Cemetery under the direction of Anderson Clayton Brothers Funeral Home of Kemp.
Vinson was born Dec. 7, 1937, in Anson and died Sept. 16, 2003, in Dallas following a battle with cancer. He is preceded in death by his parents, Virgle and Bessie Vinson, Abilene.
He was married to Barbara Sue Landreth Sept. 1, 1957, in Abilene. He had resided in Kemp since 1970 and was a former city council member for the City of Kemp. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
He was an avid supporter of the local youth organizations.
He was a printer by trade and worked for years in the newspaper industry, for publications such as the Abilene Reporter News, Galveston County Daily News, Fort Worth Star-Telegram, The Dallas Times Herald and the Dallas Morning News.
He retired from Bowne of Dallas in 1985.
Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Barbara Sue Vinson, Kemp; daughters, Gena Vinson, Kemp; Tammy Rainey and her husband, Jimmy, Dallas; grandchildren, Dana Jones and her husband, Fred, Bridgeport; Dona Hardin and her husband, Josh, Decatur; and Tana Craft of McKinney; great-grandchildren, Brody and Brac Jones; grandson by choice, J.J. Melton, son of Brenda and James Melton, Kaufman; sisters, Lenora Davis, Abilene and Lois Harrison and her husband, Alan, Fort Worth; and numerous friends and other relatives.
Pallbearers were Jimmy Philpot, James Betts, Clyde Morton, Billy Ray, R.L. Stuard and Dale Holdman.
