Marlin Perkins
Memorial services for Marlin H. Perkins, 54, Athens, were held June 18, 2003, at First Baptist Church of Athens with the Rev. Larry Fondren officiating.
A private burial was held at Oaklawn Memorial Park under the direction of Carroll-Lehr Funeral Home, Athens.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Bobby and Johnny Perkins and his father-in-law, Roy Wilbanks.
Perkins was born June 10, 1949, in Houston to the late Marlin Douglas and Georgena Thompson Perkins, and died June 15, 2003, in Athens.
He owned and operated Malakoff Pharmacy for 27 years and was a member of Landmark Baptist Church, where he served as deacon and Sunday school teacher.
Survivors include his wife, Karen Perkins, Athens; sons, Doug Perkins and Erik Perkins, both of Athens; sister, Darlene Perkins, Athens; brothers, Wayne Perkins, Athens; Joe Dan Perkins, Mabank; Randy Perkins, Corsicana; two grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Bill Green, Tim Crecelius, Gary Steddum, Velmer Heim, Lonnie Vick and Eddie Pincher.
Honorary pallbearers were Dr. Robert J. Risko, Dr. Harold Smithson, Dr. N.D. Geddie Jr., Steve Landis, Jim Love, W.L. Banks, Dr. Clifton Haynes and Dr. Paul Sanner.

Chloe Fairee
Services for Chloe Madison Summer Fairee, Gun Barrel City, were held June 17, 2003, at Tomlinson Funeral Home with the Rev. Ken Maddox officiating. Burial was in Kemp Cemetery under the direction of Tomlinson Funeral Home of Seven Points.
Chloe was born June 14 and died June 14, 2003.
Survivors include her parents, William and Amanda Fairee; brother, Dalton and sister, Brittney; grandparents, Patty and B.J. Robertson, Ola; Thad and Mary Price, The Colony; John and Wendy Caldwell, Rowlett; great grandparents, W.O and Tris Hare, Kemp.

Veda Wyatt
Graveside services for Veda Wyatt, 85, Ocean Springs, Miss., formerly of Canton and Mabank, were held June 16, 2003, at Elm Grove Cemetery with funeral director Sue Baugh officiating, under the direction of Eubank Funeral Home Inc. of Canton.
Wyatt was born May 17, 1918, in Bay City to Rufus D. and Pearl Turry Mangum and died June 15, 2003, in Ocean Springs, Miss.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Wyatt; a daughter, Shirley J. Wright; and an infant son, Jimmy Harold Wyatt.
She was a member of the Church of Christ. She worked in an aircraft plant in Dallas during World War II and was a telephone operator for Bell-South. After she moved to Mabank, they owned the Mabank Cafe and later the Panther Den. She lived the last 30 years in Ocean Spring, Miss.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Michael W. and Peggy S. Wyatt, Ocean Springs, Miss.; grandchildren, Jennifer D. Judy and Michael W. Wyatt, Jr..; both of Ocean Springs, Miss.; Lyle Wright, Sulphur Springs; and Michael Wright, Mesquite; sister, Lou Zellner, Ocean Springs, Miss.; great grandchildren, Tyler J. Judy, Ocean Springs, Miss.; Ashley Wright, Corey Wright, both of Sulphur Springs; Lisa Wright, Staci Wright and Michael Wright, Jr. all of Mesquite; several nieces and nephews.
Lloyd E. Hoggatt
Graveside services for Lloyd E. Hoggatt, 73, Athens, were held June 18, 2003, at Trinidad Cemetery with Bill Hamilton officiating. Services were under the direction of Tomlinson Funeral Home of Malakoff.
Hoggatt was born Dec. 20, 1929, in Yates Center, Kan., to Emmett Paul and Glaudine DeAughter Hoggatt and died June 15, 2003, in Athens.
He worked in construction and was a member of Union Hill Baptist Church. He was a member of the VFW and served in the U.S. Army.
Survivors include sisters, Maxine Tart, Trinidad; and Joy Woolery, Thayer, Kan.; and many nieces and nephews.
Wayne Meredith
Services for Wayne Meredith, 72, Kaufman, were held June 14, 2003, at Eubank Funeral Home in Canton with the Rev. Roy Meritt officiating. Burial followed at Meredith Campground Cemetery under the direction of Eubank Funeral Home of Canton.
Meredith was born April 26, 1931, in Big Rock community to John Will and Vivian Irene Bledsoe Meredith, and died June 12, 2003, in Kaufman.
He was preceded in death by his grandson, Shawn Harper; and brothers, George Houston, Marvin Maurice, Merrell and Forest Meredith.
He attended Purtis Creek Baptist Church and lived in Kaufman the past 28 years.
Survivors include his daughters and sons-in-law, Sandy and Steve Trammell, Athens; Michelle and Jeffrey Deckker, Dayton, Ohio; and Jaynie Warren, Jefferson; son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Donna Meredith; brothers, Deward Meredith, Canton; J.D. Meredith, Mabank; and Glenn Meredith, Dallas; sister, LaDell Graham, Eustace; 14 grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Pallbearers were Dusty Trammell, Jared Trammell, Matthew Harper, Jerry Meredith, Steve Bledsoe and Bobby Bledsoe.
Cozette Easley
Services for Mary Cozette Easley, 84, Canton, were held June 13, 22003, at Eubank Funeral Home chapel in Canton with the Revs. Bill Lane and Rick Smith officiating.
Burial was in Haven of Memories Memorial Park, Canton, under the direction of Eubank Funeral Home of Canton.
Easley was born Nov. 22, 1918, in China Grove community to the late Obie Edgar and Ruby Hassie Davis Weatherford, and died June 11, 2003, in Tyler. She was preceded in death by grandchildren, Ron Hopson, April and Austin Easley; and brothers, Carroll and Loyd Weatherford.
She grew up in China Grove/Walton area and was a member of the China Grove Baptist Church. She taught Bible school for more than 20 years.
Survivors include her husband, Truman G. Easley, Canton; daughters, Donnie Hopson and Shearlene Lunceford, both of Canton; sons, Grady Easley, Loyd Easley, Ferrell Easley and Danny Easley, all of Canton; brothers, Raymond Weatherford, Corpus Christi; Bobby Glenn Weatherford and Harold Weatherford, both of Athens; 19 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren.

Private services for Glenn Laurence, 46, Athens, were held in New York Cemetery under the direction of Carroll-Lehr Funeral Home, Athens.
Laurence was born June 30, 1956, in Henderson County and died June 13, 2003, in an Athens hospital.
Survivors include his parents, Charles and Nelda Laurence, Athens; sister, Shelia Vandiver, Gun Barrel City; grandmother, Odie Faye Brown, Gun Barrel City; one niece, two nephews and one great nephew.
Johnie Melvin Watts
Services for Johnie Melvin Watts, 78, Tool, were held June 17, 2003, at the Anderson Clayton Brothers Funeral Home Chapel in Kemp with Solon Bailey officiating.
Interment followed at the Millers Grove Cemetery near Sulphur Springs, with Jerome Savage officiating under the direction of Anderson Clayton Brothers Funeral Home of Kemp.
Watts was born Oct. 4, 1924, in Millers Grove to the late John Mack and Mittie Mae Jones Watts, and died June 13, 2003, in Tyler.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother; C.G. Watts; and a nephew.
He had lived in Tool for the past 30 years and was a veteran of the U.S. Army during World War II.
He was a member of the Trinidad Church of Christ.
He married May Gene Pennington Nov. 20, 1946 in Sulphur Springs.
Survivors include his wife, Mae Gene Watts, Tool; son, Mike Watts and his wife Dorothy, Van; daughter, Lynda Fahrner and her husband Gary, O'Fallon, Ill.; grandchildren, Jason Watts and his wife, Laura, Jamie Watts and Kristin, Kinsey and Kori Fahrner, great grandchild, Campbell Watts; sisters, LaVern Cox and her husband, LeRoy, Pineville, La.; LaVera Johnson, Mesquite; niece, Janet Pufahl; and nephew, Eugene Johnson and numerous other friends and relatives.

Walter Stephen Ford
Walter Stephen "Steve" Ford passed away suddenly, June 10, 2003, in his home in Gun Barrel City.
Ford was born March 26, 1940, in March Field, California.
He was preceded in death by his parents Ann Nadine Ford and Walter Reid Ford, a decorated World War II hero.
He retired from the Mare Island Naval Shipyard in Vallejo, Calif., after 32 years of service as a senior comptroller conducting the final inspections for new submarines.
He moved from the Napa Valley of California to Texas in September 1996 and resided in Gun Barrel City.
Survivors include his sister, Judith Ann and her husband, Donald R. Smith, Payne Springs; nephews, John L. Mathis and his wife Donna; Allen R. Mathis; great nephews, Brandon R. Black and Dylan L. Mathis; and great niece, Halie M. Mathis.
Mary Alice Fisher
Graveside services for Mary Alice Fisher, Forney, were held June 21, 2003, at Hillcrest Cemetery in Forney with Rev. Jimmy Sheppard officiating, under the direction of Goggans Funeral Home, Terrell.
Fisher was born Sept. 11, 1920, in Indiana to the late Lewis Albert and Ruth Ann Spires, and died June 18, 2003, in Dallas.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Lowell Spires.
She had lived in the Cedar Creek Lake area prior to moving to Forney in 2002.
She married Walter Raymond Fisher, Jr. on July 29, 1943.
Survivors include her husband of 62 years, Walter Raymond Fisher, Jr., Forney; son, Walter R. Fisher, III, Forney; daughter, Alice Lynnette Fisher, California; brothers, Tom Spires and David Spires, both of Chicago, Ill.; and Bill Spires, Florida; two grandchildren, Robert Lewis Dean and Gregory Raymond Dean.
Vernon Bailey McKinney
Services for Vernon Bailey McKinney, 95, Eustace, were held June 20, 2003, in the First Baptist Church of Eustace with the Rev. Paul McKinney officiating. Burial was in Payne Cemetery under the direction of Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home of Mabank.
McKinney was born March 31, 1908, in Eustace, and died June 17, 2003, in Eustace.
He was a carpenter.
Survivors include his son, Vernon Mac and Evelyn McKinney, Eustace; daughter, Judy Reynolds, Eustace; seven grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Jack Graham, Mike McConothy, Roy Miller and Armondo Rodriquez.
Georgie Irene Reynolds

Reynolds was born Aug. 27, 1927, in Independence, Mo., and died June 16, 2003, in ETMC, Athens.
She was a member of the Eustace Assembly of God Church.
Survivors include her children, Janice Brock, Mabank; Wanda Floyd, Channel View; Brenda Loebig, Frankston; Lacey Reynolds, Houston; Joyce Van Patten, League City; 18 grandchildren; and 10 great grandchildren.
