Services for Bill Butcher, 70, Eustace, were held April 29, 2003, at First Baptist Church, Eustace, with the Rev. Paul McKinney officiating.
Burial was in Goshen Cemetery under the direction of Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home of Mabank.
Butcher was born Oct. 13, 1932, in Millcreek, Okla., and died April 27, 2003, in Dallas.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, serving in Korea. He was a deacon of the First Baptist Church, Eustace.
Survivors include his wife, Melba Butcher, Eustace; sons, Marvin Butcher, Rowlett; Bill Butcher Jr., Sachse; brothers, Bobby Butcher, Lancaster; Jerry Butcher, Phalba; Junior Butcher, Arizona; sisters, Wanda Thompson, Austin; Ollie Walker, Mabank; grandchildren, Chase Butcher, Trey Butcher, Austin Butcher, Travis Butcher, Tommie Pierce and Leslie Pierce.
Pallbearers were Lee Boren, Johnny Jones, Leroy Jones, Gary Lamp, Mac McKinney and Royce Moseley.

Clara Rector
Services for Clara Hall Rector, 91, Eustace, were held April 30, 2003, at the First Assembly of God with the Rev. James Howard officiating. Burial was in Colfax Cemetery under the direction of Eubank Funeral Home, Canton.
Rector was born Jan. 12, 1912, in Ben Wheeler to John Walter and Vinett McPhail Hall, and died April 27, 2003, in Malakoff. She was preceded in death by her husband, Malvin Raymond Rector, in 1977, five brothers and three sisters.
She grew up and attended school in Ben Wheeler, where she played basketball, volleyball and ran track.
She lived most of her life in Van Zandt and Henderson counties, and was a member of First Assembly of God.
Survivors include her daughters, Balfa Joy Ballard, Eustace; Sue Joslin, Oklahoma City, Okla.; and Kay Powers, Eustace; brother, J.V. Hall, Ennis; 11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Farrell Shaw, Darrell Shaw, Gene Hall, Ray Dean Hall, Adam Lewis and Chance Sutton.

Hayden Ewing Teet
Services for Hayden Ewing Teet, 86, Gun Barrel City, were held April 27, 2003, at Eubank Memorial Chapel, Mabank, with the Rev. Don Teague officiating. Interment was in the Field of Honor, Cedar Creek Memorial Park, Mabank.
Teet was born Oct. 20, 1916, in Dallas, to Charles Hayden and Verna Mae (Williams) Teet, and died April 24, 2003, in Kemp.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving with the Army Air Corps in North Africa and Italy.
He retired from the City of Dallas Public Works in 1986, and worked eight years at the Hall of State Museum.
Survivors include his wife, Lorraine Raiche Teet, Gun Barrel City; son, Charles Lewis Teet, Gun Barrel City; daughter, Verna Humphrey and husband Mike, Gun Barrel City; grandson, Brett Fincanon and wife Kim, Gun Barrel City; granddaughter, Gina Foley and husband Scott, Garland; great-granddaughters, Kelly Foley and Bre Hany Foley, both of Garland; brothers and sisters, Doshie Freeman and husband Buster, Mabank; Edna Teet, Fredricksburg; Betty Jo Huddleston and husband C.B., Arvada, Colo.; Nita Kerbo and husband Jack, Lufkin; Delmar Teet and wife Joan, Norman, Okla.; nieces, nephews, other family members and a host of friends.

Ethel Conley
Graveside services for Ethel Conley, 87, Phalba, were held April 27, 2003, in Cedarvale Cemetery in Kaufman County. Dr. James Bivins officiated under the direction of Eubank Funeral Home of Canton.
Conley was born Oct. 10, 1915, in Sulphur, Okla., to James Browder and Lee Ruthart Tankersley, and died April 24, 2003, in Phalba. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charley Clovis Conley, a sister, Wanda Roberts, and a brother, Hardy Tankersley.
She was a member of the Phalba Church of Christ. After her marriage, the couple moved to Oklahoma City and then to DeSoto. They lived there 20 years and then moved to Phalba five years ago.
Survivors include daughter, Jeanette Bivins, Phalba; son, Noel Conley, Dallas; grandchildren, James Bivins Jr., Phalba; and Noel Conley Jr., Garland; and brother, George Weldon Tankersley, Elceajon, Calif.

Charlie Daniel Kiser
Services for Charlie Daniel "C.D." Kiser, 50, Malakoff, were held April 26, 2003, at Mount Moriah Baptist Church of Athens, with the Rev. Victorio Rockmore officiating. Burial was in Sand Flat Community Cemetery under the direction of John R. Harmon Undertaking Co., Tyler.
Kiser was born Jan. 9, 1953, in Italy, Texas, and died April 21, 2003, in an Athens hospital. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents and five brothers.
He attended Athens and Eustace public schools, and was a member of Mount Moriah Baptist Church.
Survivors include his son, Eddie Marshall, Tyler; brothers, Johnny Kiser, Ray Kiser, Samuel Kiser and Alvis Kiser, all of Athens; David Kiser, Dallas, and Dewayne Kiser, Fort Worth; sisters, Georgia Jackson, Emma Robert, and Esther Thompson, all of Athens; Barbara Walker, Malakoff; Patricia Sanders, Arlington; and Delois Kiser, Fort Worth; special friend, Sylvia Williams, Malakoff; and four grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Jessie Brooks, Willie Davis Jr., Larry Graves, Johnny Walker Jr., Jimmie Williams and Billy Jordan.
Honorary pallbearers were nephews.

Marvil Stephens
Services for Marvil Stephens, 80, Gun Barrel City, were held April 26, 2003, at Eubank Memorial Chapel, Mabank, with Pastor R.D. Wade officiating. Interment was April 28, 2003, in Pleasant Plains Cemetery, Pleasant Plains, Ark.
Stephens was born July 10, 1922, in Pleasant Plains, Ark., to Edd and Nannie Mae (McAdams) Stephens, and died April 24, 2003, in Athens.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army.
He was a member of the VFW Post No. 4376, Seven Points, and was an avid poker player.
Survivors include daughters, Vicki Cain and husband Ricky, Mesquite; Beverly Jo Stephens, Dallas; Rhonda Lynn McReynolds and husband Jeff, Dallas; Tracey Smith and husband Jess, Payne Springs; son, Robert Stephens, Mabank; two grandchildren, Jason Cain and Rebecca Smith; nieces, nephews, other family members, and a host of friends.

Jessie Mae Johnson
Services for Jessie Mae "Bitsey" Johnson, 87, Gun Barrel City, were held April 29, 2003, at Sowers Cemetery, Irving, with the Rev. Linda Marcom officiating. Burial was in Sowers Cemetery, Irving, under the direction of Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home of Mabank.
Johnson was born July 17, 1915, in Fate, and died April 24, 2003, in Gun Barrel City. She was preceded in death by her husband, C.A. Johnson, a grandson, Sam Deskin, and a son-in-law, Bill Bailey.
She was a nursing home aide.
Survivors include daughters, Geraldine "Geri" M. Bailey, Seven Points; Mary Lou Campbell, Irving; grandson, Ricky Campbell, Irving; Gary Deskin, Carrollton; Ron Deskin, Devine; Norman and wife Dona Rozell Jr., Dallas; seven great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren
Pallbearers were Ricky Campbell, Brian Deskin, Gary Deskin, Jeff Deskin, Ron Deskin and Norman "Bud" Rozell.

Mary Myrtle Bruner
Services for Mary Myrtle Bruner, 70, Kemp, were held at 3 p.m., Friday, May 2, 2003 at Anderson-Clayton Bros. Chapel of Kemp, with Rev. Mickey Loftis officiating.
Interment followed at Baker Cemetery under the direction of Anderson-Clayton Bros. Funeral Home of Kemp.
Myrt was born August 10, 1932 to the late William Harrison and Bertha Thompson Earls. She passed away Tuesday, April 29, 2003 in Dallas.
She retired from Gulf Insurance Company in 1990.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Lee Bruner in 1995; sisters, Jauseal Hicks and Billie Mac Elliott.
Survivors include her daughters, Patty Belcher and husband, Danny and Sharon Reed and Jerry Lowe; son, Rocky Bruner and wife, Sharon; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several other relatives and friends.
Visitation was held from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, May 1, 2003 at Anderson-Clayton Bros. Funeral Home of Kemp.

Buford L. Tapp
Services for Buford L. Tapp, 64, Gun Barrel City, were held May 2, 2003, at Eubank Memorial Chapel, with the Rev. Ray Vallance officiating. Burial was in Oaklawn Cemetery under the direction of Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home of Mabank.
Tapp was born Nov. 14, 1938, in Mabank, and died April 29, 2003, in Athens.
He was self-employed.
Survivors include his daughters, Becky Jones, Carrollton; and Nita Ann Vallance, Flower Mound; sister, Wanda Jean Haley, San Antonio; and two grandchildren; three great grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Phillip Fox, Edward Holcomb, Gary Jones, Raymond Sparrow, Welter Vallance and Gary Walls.

Brack Warren
Services for Brack Hatley Warren, Mabank, were held May 1, 2003, at First Baptist Church Mabank with Rev. Don Teague officiating. Burial was in Payne Cemetery, Henderson County, under the direction of Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home of Mabank.
Warren was born Sept. 27, 1916, in Centerville, and died April 28, 2003.
He was a long time resident of Mabank and built, owned and managed Brack's Smokehouse in Gun Barrel City from 1972 to 1985. He served in the Army Air Corps in World War II and was discharged in Nov. 1945.
He was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Mabank, and was a member of Oak Cliff Lodge No. 705, A.F. & A.M. 60 years.
He and his wife Frances, who preceded him in death, moved to Mesquite in 1998. At his death, he was a resident at Golden Acres in Dallas.
Survivors included sons, Fred Warren and wife, Anita, Houston; and Reg Warren and wife, Lynna, Plano; daughters, Sandra Couch and husband, Steve, Mesquite; and Beth Jones and husband, Mike, Brownsville; 10 grandchildren; six great grandchildren; three brothers and one sister.

Martha Jo Brewer
Services for Martha Jo Page Brewer, 74, Kemp, were held May 3, 2003, in the Carroway-Claybar Funeral Home Chapel, Lufkin, with Robert Owens officiating. Interment followed in Pollok Cemetery.
Brewer was born May 4, 1928, in Olney, to Walter F. Page and Nora Chalk Page and died April 28, 2003. She was preceded in death by her husband of 11 years, Roy Lee Brewer of Pollok, and her sister, Maye Elson of Richardson.
She graduated from Olney High School in 1945, and Mary Hardin Baylor of Belton in 1965, with a bachelor of science degree, later attaining her master's degree in teaching. She then relocated to Odessa, where she was a supervisor in the Texas Employment Commission from which she retired.
She was a member of the Church of Christ, active in the D.A.R., U.D.C., Cherokee Civic Theatre of Rusk, Actor's Repertory Theatre of Tyler, Ladies Auxiliary, and the annual Christmas flotilla at lake Jacksonville.
Most recently she participated in the ladies Red Hat Society in Dallas. She resided in Dallas for 13 years and moved to Kemp in May, 2002. She was a loving wife, sister, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and true friend.
Survivors include her daughters, Jo Ulvog, Longview; Kathryn J. Williams and husband, Allen, Jacksonville; Beverly Brewer Heaverlo, Yakima, Wash.; grandsons, Luke C. Ulvog, Dallas; Kenneth D. Kendall, San Marcos; Robert Brewer Heaverlo, Yakima, Wash.; granddaughter, Jennifer D. Sitton and husband, Kent, Fort Worth; great grandsons, Mason Sitton, Zackery Sitton, Levi Sitton, Fort Worth; great granddaughter, Kaitlyn Page Sitton, Fort Worth; brother, Freddie Page and wife, Mary, Olney; niece, Regina Elson, Richardson; nephew, Page Elson, Richardson and the Philliber family.
Pallbearers were Freddie Page, Bob Philliber, Page Elson, Charles Rosin, Kenneth Kendall and Luke Ulvog.
Honorary pallbearers were Kent Sitton and Allen Williams.

Jim Brewer
Services for Jim Brewer, 71, Kemp, were held May 3, 2003, at First Presbyterian Church with Dr. Ron Holloman officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home of Mabank.
Brewer was born Feb. 22, 1932, in Denver, Colo., and died April 29, 2003, in Kaufman.
He was a communications manager, and retired from Southwestern Bell in 1978 after 27 years of service.
Survivors include his wife, Joyce Brewer, Kemp; son, James Wallace Brewer, Seven Points; daughters, Leslie and husband, Hill, Copeland, WI; Mary Nita Hobby, Austin; Donna and husband, Bill, Johnson, Liveley; brother, Dan and wife, Denise, Brewer, Greenville; 16 grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.
