Clinton C. Nations
Services for Clinton C. Nations, 95, Van, were held May 15, 2003, at Van First Baptist Church with the Rev. James Day and Rev. Mike Calhoun officiating. Interment was in Haven of Memories Cemetery under the direction of Hilliard Funeral Home, Van.
Nations was born July 3, 1907, to Joseph Andrew and Dola Carter Nations in Wisdom Temple, and died May 12, 2003, in a Tyler Hospital.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 75 years,
Vivian Bruner Nations, May 3, 2003; daughter-in-law, Charlotte Nations; sister, Verlie Hill; and brothers, Cleo, U.B. and Wayland Nations.
He grew up and went to school in the Wisdom Temple community, Van Zandt County. He worked for the Pure Oil Company (now Unocal) in the Salt Water Department for 40 years. He retired in 1972.
He moved his family to Van in 1938, and served Van City Councils for a total of six years. He worked for the creation of an adequate and state-approved water supply as well as the upgrading of the street system to include curbs and gutters. He served on the board of the Van Housing Authority for 29 years.
He was a member of the Colfax Masonic Lodge No. 904 for 58 years, and held many offices in that lodge, including Worshipful Master for two terms. In 1951, he was appointed District Deputy Grand Master of District No. 12 for one year, and then served for three years as Chairman of Masonic
Workshops for three counties that included 17 lodges.
He continued as a teacher of Masonic Work through many years and with many candidates for membership. He has been awarded the Golden Trowel by the Colfax Lodge in Van and an honorary lifetime membership by the Grand Saline Lodge No. 1269.
Survivors include his son, Swanzy Nations, San Antonio; daughters and sons-in-law, Thelma and Danny Farr, Cedar Creek Lake; and Yvonne and Ivie Joe Stewart, Dallas; sister, Duane Meeker, Dallas; grandchildren, David Stewart, Scott Stewart, Ricky Farr, Rodney Farr, Neal Nations, Jonathan Nations, their wives; and 17 great grandchildren.
Pallbearers were grandsons.
Honorary pallbearers were great-grandsons.
Lawrence LaFlower
Services for Lawrence "Larry" LaFlower, 77, Kemp, were held May 27, 2003, at Eubank Memorial Chapel with Dr. Rocky Weatherford officiating. Burial was in Green Acres Cemetery under the direction of Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home.
LaFlower was born May 20, 1926, in Indianapolis, Ind., and died May 21, 2003, in Tool.
He was a carpenter and a veteran of the U.S. Marines and U.S. Army.

Isaac Sipriano, Sr.
A Funeral Mass was celebrated May 27, 2003, at St. Pius X Catholic Church, Dallas, for Isaac Sipriano, Sr., 84, Dallas, formerly of Kemp and Kaufman, with the Rev. Don Zeiler presider. Interment was in Calvary Hill Cemetery, Dallas under the direction of Sparkman/Crane Funeral Home in Garland.
Sipriano was born June 3, 1918, in Santa Anna and died May 24, 2003, in Dallas. He was preceded in death by his parents, Vicente and Teofila Sipriano; brothers, John and Teofilo Sipriano; sisters, Angelica Sanchez and Paula Sipriano.
He retired in 1983 from Gardner-Denver Industrial Machinery. He had a special gift for never meeting a stranger and always offered a helping hand to those in need. He was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church and their Mens' Club. He was a volunteer for 25 years in the Love for Kids Foundation of Dallas.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Lucille, and daughter, Mary Helen Sipriano, Dallas; son, Isaac Jr., and wife, Melba Sipriano, Biloxi, Miss.; grandson, Isaac Sipriano III, and wife, Jennifer and great grand children, Austin and Elizabeth Sipriano, Dallas; grandson, Vincent B. Graveside services for Myrtle Eulalah Harris of Irving, formerly of Mabank, were held May 27, 2003, at Ridgeview Memorial Park in Allen under the direction of Belew Funeral Home.
Harris was born June 19, 1919, and died May 25, 2003, at Baylor Hospital.
Survivors include her husband of 68 years, Lawrence Harris; children, Carolyn Adams and Gary Harris; five grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Kenneth Smith
Services for Kenneth Gale Smith, 77, Mabank, were held May 24, 2003, at Dallas/Fort Worth National Cemetery with the Rev. Phillip Heinz officiating, under the direction of Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home.
Smith was born Oct. 9, 1925, in Hereford and died May 22, 2003, in Gun Barrel City.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.
Survivors include his wife, Evelyn Smith, Mabank; daughters, Barbara McDaniel, Grand Prairie; Sherry Weston, Grapevine; stepdaughters, Patricia Pollock, May Pearl; Pamela Thompson, Berlason; sister, Pauline Van Horn, Tyler; six grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren.
Jack Humerickhouse
Services for Jack Humerickhouse, 79, Tool, were held May 16, 2003, at Aley First United Methodist Church with Bro. Eston Williams officiating. Burial was in Tool Cemetery under the direction of Tomlinson Funeral Home in Seven Points.
Humerickhouse died May 13, 2003, in a Dallas hospital.
He retired from the U.S. Postal Service as a superintendent of maintenance. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and lifetime member of the VFW Post No. 5867 in Lakdsode, Calif. He has been associated with the Masonic Lodge since 1946, and was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Gun Barrel City. He was a lifetime member with Texas Wheelchair of Tyler.
Survivors include his wife, Jewell Humerickhouse, Tool; son, Jack Lee Humerickhouse and wife, Donna, Peoria, Ariz.; daughters, Suzanne Jett and husband, Bill, Muncie, Ind.; and Sharon Guillbeau and husband, Kurt, Longview; sister,

William Edward Pierson
Services for William Edward Pierson, 71, Mabank, were held May 19, 2003, at Tomlinson Funeral Home Chapel, Seven Points. Burial will be at a later date in Dallas.
Pierson was born May 12, 1932, in Kaufman, and died May 13, 2003, in Dallas.
His church affiliation was nondenominational and he was an assembly worker with the Ford Motor Co. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and was a member of the Odd Fellows Lodge and the United Auto Workers.
Survivors include his children, Elizabeth Potcinske, Terrell; William E. Pierson, Jr.; Melissa Ann Thiden, Killeen; William E. Pierson III, Mabank; and Christopher Lee Pierson, Killeen; brother, Jimmy Pierson; two grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Cora Gibbs
Memorial services for Cora M. Gibbs, 59, Trinidad, were held May 17, at Cain-Brown's Memorial Funeral Home, Malakoff.
She died May 12.
She was a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband, James H. Gibbs, Trinidad; sons, Benjem Leroy Meek and Charles Allen Meek, both of Trinidad; daughter, Irene Dale Meek, Trinidad; four grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.
Tommie Dee Bourne
Services for Tommie Dee Bourne, 83, Stephenville, were held May 20, 2003, at the Anderson Clayton Brothers Funeral Home Chapel in Kemp with Rev. Bob Ray officiating. Interment followed in the King Cemetery in Henderson County under the direction of Anderson Clayton Brothers Funeral Home of Kemp.
Bourne was born July 26, 1919, in Bogata, to the late Tom and Dolly Storey Leavelle and died May 17, 2003, in Clifton. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arwood Bourne, Nov. 1, 1983.
She was a member of First Baptist Church of Stephenville and married Arwood Bourne, March 31, 1939, in Hugo, Okla. She was a volunteer at Harris Methodist Hospital of Erath County and Presbyterian Hospital of Kaufman.
She was a member and past president of the 49ers Club in Seven Points and was active in Womens Bible Study class. She loved dancing at the Senior Citizens Center. She will be missed by all that knew her.
Survivors include her daughter, Nikki Glass and husband, Billy Don, Cranfill's Gap; sons, Jimmy Bourne and wife, Jamie, Alvarado; and Joe Bourne and wife, Wanda, Seagoville; seven grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild; sisters, Eva Harrison, Kerrville; and Hasseltine Lynch, Clarksville; and numerous other friends and relatives.

John Alan Smith
Services for John Alan "Smitty" Smith, 53, Combine, were held May 21, 2003, at Anderson Clayton Bros. Funeral Home in Kemp, with Pastor Kathy Mordecai officiating.
Smith was born Feb. 6, 1950, in Harrodsburg, Ky., and died May 17, 2003.
His family moved to Texas when he was six and he was raised in Lancaster. He later moved to Houston, and then to Dallas, where he owned and operated an industrial flooring company. He was a dear brother, uncle, friend and businessman.
Survivors include his sister and brother-in-law, Debbie and Bruce Franklin, Kerens; niece Kelly Sides and husband, Kelly Joe, LaRue; niece, Carrie Franklin, Kerens; great nieces, Bailee and Kaitlyn Sides, LaRue; good friend Sharon Nicholas and special friend, Bruce Garrison, Dallas.

Ester MacGahan

Services for Ester McGahan, 76, Kemp, were held May 18, 2003, at the Anderson Clayton Brothers Funeral Home Chapel in Kemp with Pastor David Lewis officiating. Interment followed in the Shiloh Cemetery in Kemp under the direction of Anderson Clayton Brothers Funeral Home of Kemp.
McGahan was born Feb. 12, 1927, in Pauls Valley, Okla., to the late Elmer and Emer Pyle Rozell and died May 15, 2003, in Dallas. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hollis McGahan, Feb. 12. 1984; a son, Mindon McGahan April 19, 2001; her parents; and numerous brothers and sisters.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Seven Points. She married Hollis McGahan July 10, 1946, in Frankston.
Survivors include her daughters, Glenda Haley, Kemp; Peggy Reynolds, Athens; and Mary Starek, Kemp; sons, Leon McGahan, Merit; Homer McGahan, Josephine; and Cody McGahan, Lavon; 15 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; sisters, Beulah Smith, Kemp; and Mildred Fuller, New Mexico; and brother, Marvin Rozell, Kemp; and numerous other friends and relatives.
Pallbearers were Dewey Haley, Norman Thompson, Jamie Starek, Tracy Thompson, David Heather and Greg Thomas.

Nettie Adren Conway

Interment followed in the Laurel Land Memorial Park in Dallas, under the direction of Anderson Clayton Brothers Funeral Home of Kemp.
Conway was born March 27, 1912, in Brown County to the late James and Nancy Blassingame White and died May 15, 2003, in Athens. She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Nancy White; husband, George conway; son, James Conway; daughter, Patricia Norton; and grandchildren, Donna Moses, Puretta Lawson and Jared King.
She was Baptist by faith.

Jessie Loraine Starks
Jessie Loraine Starks, 77, Gun Barrel City, died April 23, 2003, in Athens.
She was born May 18, 1925, in Nida, Okla., to Jese and Willie (Page) Burchett.
Starks was a charter member of the First Baptist Church of Gun Barrel City and taught Sunday School for many years. She was a Worthy Matron of the Eastern Star No. 574, Dallas. She retired from Richard E. Colgin Co., Dallas, as president in 1982.
Survivors include her husband of 60 years, Jack W. Starks, Gun Barrel City; daughter, Arzella Liberto and husband Roy, Gun Barrel City; brother, Johnny Burchett and wife Christine, Ardmore, Okla.; nieces, nephews, other family members and a host of friends.
