Memorial services for Sheila Marie Crum, were held at the VFW Hall in Cloverdale, Oregon Dec. 31, 2002.
Crum was born in Ainsworth, Neb., Oct. 17, 1946, to Verna Brys and R. Watson, and died Dec. 26, 2002.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Verna Brys.
She had recently moved to Cloverdale Oregon from Gun Barrel City and enjoyed cooking, crafts, gardening and baking.
Survivors include her husband, Michael F. Crum, Cloverdale, Ore.; sons, Michael A. Crum, Lancaster; Jeffery S. and Marquita Crum, Plano; Jason C. Crum, Mabank; sisters, Janet Moon; Verna Jean and her husband, Bob, Wilkinson; Christine and her husband, Rob Rulifson, Cloverdale, Ore.; and Nancy Williams, Burley, Idaho; six grandchildren, Nathan Crum, Raelynn Crum, Scott Crum, Christine Marie Crum, Tyler Crum, and eight nieces and nephews.
A.W. Jennings
Services for A.W. Jennings, 84, Gun Barrel City, were held Jan. 25, 2003, at the Central Baptist Church with the Revs. Kenneth Hensley and Steve Glosup officiating.
Interment followed in Oaklawn Cemetery under the direction of Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home of Mabank.
Jennings was born Oct. 31, 1918, in Claremore, Okla., and died Jan. 23, 2003, in Tyler.
He was a postal clerk and a veteran of the Army and Army Air Corps in World War II and the Navy in the Korean Conflict. He was treasurer of Central Baptist Church.
Survivors include his sons, Paul and his wife, Anne Jennings, Odessa; and Ron and his wife, Barbara Jennings, Coppell; sister, Eloise Rush, Duncanville; four grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Brit Jennings, Dwight Jennings, Glenn Jennings, Jeff Rush, Bill Shaw and Mark Shaw.
Honorary pallbearers were Dick Bramblitt, Marvin Bransom, Chuck Gregory and Cozell McAfee.
Barbara Ann Sorrells
Services for Barbara Ann Sorrells, 65, Kemp, were held Jan. 28, 2003, at the Anderson Clayton Brothers Funeral Home Chapel in Kemp. Interment followed in the Baker Cemetery near Kemp under the direction of Anderson Clayton Brothers Funeral Home of Kemp.
Sorrells was born Dec. 19, 1937, in Dallas, to T.T. Frankum and the late Rose Cluck Frankum and died Jan. 25, 2003 at her residence in Kemp.
She was preceded in death by her son, Larry Don Sorrells, Sept. 26, 2002, and her mother, Rose Frankum Oct. 25, 1973.
She had lived in Kemp since 1973, and was Pentecostal by faith.
She married Fairis Sorrells April 1, 1954 in Rockwall. They owned and operated the Powells Grocery near Kemp for nine years.
She was past Worthy Matron in the Order of the Eastern Star.
Survivors include her husband, Fairis Sorrells, Kemp; daughters, Fairis Ann Smith and her husband Vick, Kemp; Vickie Watson, Stonewall, Okla.; father, T.T. Frankum, Athens; daughter-in-law, Carla Sorrells, Combine; grandchildren, Larry Watson, Christie Watson, Ferris Randall Watson, Justin Smith, Brent Smith, Cody Sorrells and Cole Sorrells; great grandchildren, Sammy and Shaylee Watson, brothers, B.R. Frankum, Kemp; Troy Gene Frankum, Combine; and Tommy Wayne Frankum, Dallas; and numerous other friends and relatives.
Pallbearers were Larry Watson, Ferris Randall Watson, Justin Smith, Brent Smith, Cody Sorrells and cole Sorrells.
Geoffry Lloyd Sprague
Memorial services for Geoffry Lloyd Sprague, 45, Mabank, were held Jan. 27, 2003, in the First Presbyterian Church in Mabank.
Arrangements are under the direction of Tomlinson Funeral Home of Seven Points.
Sprague was born June 3, 1957, in Houston and died Jan. 24, 2003, in Tyler.
Formerly of Dallas he had lived in the area 11 years. He was a security officer and a veteran of the U.S. Army.
He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Mabank.
Survivors include his wife, Becky Sprague, Mabank; mother, Katherine Hindi, Payne Springs; daughters, Amy McGarey, Houston; Christi Lewis, Payne Springs; Jennifer Adams, Namie Adams and Ashley Moseley, all of Gun Barrel City; sister, Joy Helweg, Las Vegas, Nevada; brothers, Gregory Lloyd Sprague, Sachse; and Sand Ray Norton, Payne Springs; three grandchildren.
Harry Anthony Pfoh
Services for Harry Anthony Pfoh, 94, Cross Plains, were held Jan. 23, 2003, in the Post Oak Cemetery near Cross Roads with Rev. Jerry Williams officiating. Interment followed under the direction of Anderson Clayton Brothers Funeral Home of Kemp.
Pfoh was born Aug. 22, 1908, in Henrietta, to the late Hermuis and Veronica Gass Pfoh, and died Jan. 20, 2003, in Cross Plains.
He had lived in Cross Plains for the last three months moving from Caney City. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy during World War II and served in the National Guard.
Survivors include his son, John Pfoh, Cross Plains; grandchildren, John Pfoh Jr. and his wife, Michell, Cross Plains; and Walter Pfoh and his wife, Jennie, Eustace; great grandchildren, Ashley Dawn Pfoh, Nathan Jacob Pfoh, Nicholas Andrew Pfoh, Dakota Lynn Pfoh and Maykayla Brooke Pfoh, as well as numerous other friends and relatives.
Helen Steele
Services for Helen Steele, 86, Waxahachie and recently of Seven Points, were held Jan. 25, 2003, in Laurel Land Funeral Home, Dallas, with Art Toombs officiating.
Interment followed in Laurel Land Cemetery, Dallas. She died Jan. 23, 2003, in Red Oak.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Byron D. Steele; grandson, Jeff Holt; daughter-in-law, Carol Steele and several brothers and sisters.
Survivors include her son, Bobby Steele, DeSoto; daughter, Virginian and her husband, Joe Springs, Waxahachie; sister, Florence Speer, Houston; three grandchildren and eight great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Doris Marie Walton
Services for Doris Marie Walton, 83, Mabank, were held Feb. 12, 2003, in the Eubank Chapel in Canton. Interment was in Haven of Memories Memorial Park under the direction of Eubank Funeral Home of Canton.
Walton was born Oct. 9, 1919, in Palestine, to George W. and Maude L. Ray Honeycutt, and died Feb. 9, 2003, in a Dallas hospital. She was preceded in death by a son, Larry Carl Neims.
She was a member of the Church of Christ in Terrell and the Seven Points VFW and the Rebekah Lodge. She grew up in Scurry. She had a beautiful smile and never met a stranger.
Survivors include her husband, Bobby Walton, Mabank; sons and a daughter-in-law, Gary and Beverly Nelms, Garland; and Ron Shaddox, Dallas; daughter and son-in-law, Deborah and John Vaughan, Lewisville; step-sons, Bobby Walton, Jr. Virginia; and Danny Paul Walton, Fountainin, Colo.; sister and their husbands, Ola and Leon Vineyard, Terrell; and Temple and Clayton Bolt, Canton; nine grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Judith Baxter
Services for Judith Ann Baxter, 65, Wills Point, were held Feb. 10, 2003, at Hiett's LyBrand Funeral Home chapel, Wills Point, with the Rev. Mike Williams officiating. Burial followed in White Rose Cemetery, Wills Point.
Baxter was born March 7, 1937, in Dallas, to the late Dorothy Carter, and died Feb. 6, in Dallas.
She grew up in Mesquite and managed a bundle laundry service in Dallas for several years. She moved to Wills Point in 1998.
Survivors include sons, Randy Wilson, Wills Point; Kenneth Baxter, Mabank; David Baxter, The Colony; and Jessie Wilson, Michigan; 12 grandchildren.
Eva Mae McFaul
Services for Eva Mae McFaul, 85, Mabank, were held Feb. 10, 2003, at Anderson Clayton Bros. Funeral Home in Kemp, with the Rev. Kenneth Hensley officiating. Interment followed in Kemp Cemetery under the direction of Anderson Clayton Bros Funeral Home in Kemp.
McFaul was born Nov. 11, 1917, in Norwood, Ga., to Robert Thomas and Sally Mae (Baker) McDonald, and died Feb. 6, 2002, in Athens. She was preceded in death by her husband, Claudie Clyde McFaul, Feb. 2, 1976. They were married July 12, 1946, in Beaumont.
She lived in Mabank for the past 30 years and was a member of Central Baptist Church of Mabank.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Claudie and Barbara H. (Jackson) McFaul, Jr., Athens; step daughters, Jo Ann Brown and husband, Oscar, Whitehouse; Sue Schoupe and husband, Ron, Whitehouse; Kay Hodges, Tyler; 11 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; nephew, Bobby McDonald, Gainesville, Ga.; sisters-in-law, Anna Dean Sapp, Mabank; Dorothy McFaul, Mabank; Nelda McFaul, Dallas; brother-in-law, Willard McFaul and wife, Emily, Roscoe; and numerous other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers were Kenneth McFaul, James Whitaker, Johnny Lynn, Rick Wise, Sonny Holmes and Jim Vermuele.
Thelma Caywood Baldwin
Services for Thelma Caywood Baldwin, 68, Seven Points, were held Feb. 7, 2003 at Eubank Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Ed Schauer officiating. Burial was in Oaklawn Cemetery under the direction of Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home of Mabank.
Baldwin was born Sept. 14, 1934, in Oklahoma City, Okla., and died Feb. 4, 2003, in Seven Points.
She was a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband, Darwin Gerald Baldwin Sr., Seven Points; sons, Michael L. Baldwin, Seven Points; Darwin G. Baldwin, Jr., Seven Points; daughter, Theda Louise Jones, Elm Grove Community; grandchildren, Michael Lee Baldwin II, Michelle Mixson, Morgan Denise Baldwin, Jeremy Keith Baldwin, Troy Wayne Baker, Sherry Michelle Baker, Matthew Earl Jones and six great grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Troy Baker, Jeremy Baldwin, Michael Baldwin, Jerry Jones, Matthew Jones and Luke Mixson.
Avis Kathleen Lemmon
Graveside services for Avis Kathleen Lemmon, 83, Kemp, were held Feb. 8, 2003, at Tool Cemetery with the Rev. W.T. Henry officiating. Burial was under the arrangements of Tomlinson Funeral Home of Seven Points.
Lemmon was born Jan. 13, 1920, in Mabank, and died Feb. 5, 2003, in Kemp. She was preceded in death by her brother, Richard Dupree and sister, Josie Thompson.
She was a retired assembly line worker for Proctor and Gamble and was a Baptist by faith.
Survivors include her brothers, Jerry Dupree, C.H. Dupree, Troy Dupree, Chester Lee Dupree, Stanley Dupree and Dennis Dupree; sisters, Lois Summerall and Ruby Jedlicka; two grandchildren, John Lemmon, Arlington; and Kathleen McMormick, Riverside, Calif.; and three great grandchildren.
George Tawater
Services for George "Dub" Tawater, 83, Canton, were held Feb. 12, 2003, at Eubank Funeral Home, Canton with Bro. J.C. Terry and the Revs. Bill Vickery and Mark Vaughn officiating. Burial was in Haven of Memories Park, under the direction of Eubank Funeral Home of Canton.
Tawater was born Sept. 22, 1919, in Wills Point to George William Sr. and Mirtie Effie Crane Tawater, and died Feb. 9, 2003, in Tyler. He was preceded in death by his brother, Aubrey Tawater and sisters, Beulah Nichols, Daisy Weston and Beatrick Hollandbeck.
He was a member of Payne Springs Assembly of God Church and a volunteer for Whitton Fire Department. He was a truck driver for 37 years and retired from Jack Cooper Industries.
He was a Mason and Shriner with Hemp Hill Heights Chapter. He was in the Army during World War II, serving in Italy, France and Africa.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Elsie Tawater, Canton; sons, Terry Tawater and Darrell Tawater, both of Palestine; Milton Cochran, Arizona; Bubba Downey, Canton; Robert Sheffer, Arlington; daughter, Virginia Kemp, Springton; seven grandchildren; and other relatives.
Florine Bowman Dean
Services for Florine Bowman Dean, 89, Mabank, were held Jan. 30, 2003, in Eubank Memorial Chapel with the Revs. Michael Adalian and Neil Jeffries officiating.
Interment followed Jan. 31, 2003, in Dreamland Cemetery, Canyon, under the direction of Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home of Mabank.
Dean was born March 10, 1913, and died Jan. 28, 2003, in Plano.
She was a Cedar Creek Lake area resident for 25 years and was residing in Cedar View House.
She was a retired school teacher in Dallas and a member of Legendary Baptist Church.
Survivors include son, Stephen Paul Dean, Fresno, Calif.; daughter, Judith Dees, Plano; three granddaughters, Kathy Gould, Georgetown; Karen Reid, Anna; Alexandra Dean, Toronto, Ont.; grandsons-in-law, Lee Gould, Georgetown; Doug Reid, Anna; two great granddaughters, Megan and Nicole Gould, Georgetown;

Earnest Weldon Vinson
Services for Earnest Weldon "Blackie" Vinson, 84, Brownwood were held Feb. 20, 2003, in Prairieville Baptist Church with the Revs. James Odell and Rick Justice officiating.
Interment followed in Four Mile Cemetery, Van Zandt County under the direction of Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home of Mabank.
Vinson was born Jan. 12, 1919, in Midlothian to Edward and Mildredge (Scroggins) Vinson, and died Feb. 17, 2003, in Brownwood.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Werner Vinson.
He retired from Roadway Express in 1980. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran of World War II and former member and deacon of Prairieville Baptist Church.
He was instrumental in the construction of the church and parsonage.
He later became a member of the Rocky Creek Baptist Church, Brownwood.
Survivors include his daughters, Jeanette Vaughan and husband, Robert, Garland; Anita Nutt and husband, Junior, Emory; son, Robert "Bob" Vinson and wife, Patsy, Prairieville; grandchildren, Sid Vaughan, Billy Ray Vaughan Sr., Eddie Vinson, Jason Vinson, Tori Hirschman, Linda Snell, Debbie Ricketts, Joanna Key and Suzie Vinson; 17 great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Juanita Vinson and other family members.

Graveside services for Pat Patterson, 67, Kemp, were held Feb. 21, 2003, at Baker Cemetery, Tolosa, with Bro. D.L. Pendleton, Seven Points Baptist Church officiating.

Patterson was born Jan. 3, 1936, in Ralston, Okla., and died Feb. 19, 2003, in Seven Points.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Leo Patterson and Florence Robson Patterson and sister, Polly Ellis.
He was a truck driver and served in the Army seven years.
Survivors include his sons, Kenneth and wife, Gwen Wright, Seven Points; Jay and wife, Sharon Wright, Kemp; daughter, Leslee and husband, David Lay, Duncanville; brother, Merle Patterson, Shawnee, Okla.; eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
