CARILINE SPEAKMAN
Services for Caroline Tolliver Speakman, 82, of Buffalo will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Marlon Vaughn officiating. Burial will follow at Buffalo Cemetery under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home.
Mrs. Speakman died Sunday in Buffalo.
She was born Feb. 10, 1918, in Kentucky, and had lived in Buffalo for the past 11 years.
Mrs. Speakman was preceded in death by husbands, James M. Tolliver and Maurice Speakman; son, Therman Tolliver; and granddaughter, Kristie Tolliver.
She is survived by sons, James M. Tolliver of Buffalo and Alvin Tolliver of Palestine; daughters, Yvonne Burchett of Magnolia and Barbara Sue Hayford of Colona, Ill.; and sister, Obera Chandler of Burley, Idaho.
Pallbearers will be Martin Tolliver Jr., Ricky Tolliver, Bud Labig, Brent Tolliver, Ryan Tolliver and Gary Vandayburg.
Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

LELAND BAIRFIELD
Services for Leland Bairfield, 59, of Elkhart, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Bailey & Foster Chapel with the Revs. Patrick Mead and Hezekiah Stallworth officiating. Burial will follow in the family cemetery . Arrangements are under the direction of Bailey & Foster.
Mr. Bairfield died Sunday in Tyler.
He was born May 23, 1940, in Palestine, to Clyde Allen and Annie Lou Martin Bairfield.
Mr. Bairfield had worked for Glass Containers Corporation. He was a member of Norwood Heights Baptist Church.
Mr. Bairfield is survived by sisters, Shirley Krushezki and Ann Hatfield Taylor, both of Sierra Vista, Ariz., Gail Pettiette of Palestine, Patricia Jones of Pert and Susan Reynolds of Pasadena; brothers, Clyde Bairfield of Athens, Anthony Bairfield of Elkhart, Keith Bairfield of Palestine and David Bairfield of New Caney.
Pallbearers will be Jimmy Ray Odom, Earl Sochia, Chester Staples, Cecil Staples, Justin Tew and Carey Staples.

ROBBIE SIMMONS
Services for Robbie Simmons, 67, of Streetman, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Capps Chapel with the Rev. John Simmons officiating. Burial will follow at Lake Chapel in Freestone County under the direction of Capps Memorial Chapel of Fairfield.
Mrs. Simmons died Monday.
She was born Oct. 25, 1932, in Tiger Town.
She had worked as a waitress at Bella’s Restaurant. She was a Baptist.
Mrs. Simmons is survived by her husband, Roland Simmons of Streetman; mother, Marie Kellough of San Jacinto City; daughters, Ruth Quinton of Houston, Rebecca Simmons of Palestine and Kathy Jones of Fairfield; son, James Roscoe Simmons of Houston; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Albert Lehman, Reese Lehman Jr., Rocky Simmons, Clifford Jones, Bill Farley and Stephen Lindsey.

HARVEY AUSTIN
Services for Harvey Austin, 90, of Timpson, will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Cason Monk-Metcalf Funeral Directors of Nacogdoches.
Mr. Austin died Sunday at Nacogdoches Medical Center Hospital.
He was born Sept. 14, 1909, in Nacogdoches, to Harvey and Nellie Christopher Austin.
He was reared in Palestine. He was retired as a rig builder for an oil company.
Mr. Austin is survived by son, Harvey E. Austin of Timpson; daughters, Jacquelyn C. Austin of Lowell, Ark. and Nancy C. Skaggs of Springdale, Ark.; seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Andrew WILSON
Services for Andrew Lee Wilson, 77, of Palestine, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Mount Calvary Baptist Church with the Rev. Dwight Callier officiating. Burial will follow at Jerusalem Cemetery under the direction of Davis Funeral Home of Palestine.
Mr. Wilson died Friday at his residence after a lengthy illness.
He was born April 5, 1922, in Palestine to Ivory Baker and Decator Wilson.
He was retired from Glass Containers after 35 years. He was reared in Palestine and attended Palestine schools. He was a member of Camp Zion Baptist Church and later Mount Calvary Baptist Church.
Mr. Wilson was a veteran of World War II, receiving two Bronze medals and many other medals before being honorably discharged in 1946. He was a member of the Palestine Male Chorus.
He was preceded in death by sisters, Ella Mae Black and Alice Denmon.
Mr. Wilson is survived by sons, Jimmy Lee Wilson of Oklahoma City, Okla. and Dale Powell of Miami, Fla.; sisters, Bernice Hankins of Montalba and Annie D. Wilson of Dallas; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be James Hankins Jr., Alfred Black Jr., Eric Gross, Willie Edens, Jeffery Black and Mitchell Black.
Honorary pallbearers will be all officers of Mount Calvary Baptist Church, Joshua Morrow Sr., Alfred Black Sr., Herman Howard, Myrt Hollie, Don Barrett and J.W. Joe.
The family will receive condolence calls from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

HERMAN WRIGHT
Services for Herman H. Wright, 75, of Tyler, will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Burks Walker Tippit Chapel with the Rev. Bill Goble officiating. Burial will follow in Williams Cemetery under the direction of Burks Walker Tippit Funeral Home.
Mr. Wright died Sunday at his residence.
He was born Feb. 2, 1925, in Trinity County, to B.F. and Ada Wright.
He had lived in Tyler for 20 years. He formerly lived in Borger, Palestine and Houston. He was a member of Tyler Christian Church and manager for Western & Southern Insurance Co.
Wright served in the Air Force 29th Tactical Air Command in World War II. He received six battle participation starts for: Invasion of France Normandy Northern France Omaha Beach, Ardeenes Rhineland Central Europe air offense of Europe, St. Lou Break Through, Oregon Forest, Battle of the Bulge and Secfried Line. He also received the Good Conduct Medal, the coveted French Government Croix De Guerra Citation and a citation from the Belgium Government.
He served as commander of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 1789 in Borger from 1979-80. He was named “Who’s Who of Texas” for 1973-74.
Mr. Wright is preceded in death by daughter, Nina Rebecca Wright Jones; grandson, Paul Douglas Jones; and three brothers.
He is survived by son, Herman Howard Wright of Borger; daughter, Donna “Susan” Wright Russell of Tyler.; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Russell “Pee Wee” Walker, Tom Mallery, Herb Slaughter, G.L. Dean, Mike Gibbs, Freddy Bowman, Larry McGuire and Bruce Hendley.
Honorary pallbearers will be Horace Owens, George Dunn, Tommy West, James Gallegly, Bill Shaddock and Jack Harkrider.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.

George BADGETT
Services for George H. Badgett, 76, of Grapeland, will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Felders Chapel Assembly of God Church with the Rev. Randy Shipman officiating. Burial will follow in Davis Cemetery under the direction of Bailey & Foster, Grapeland.
Mr. Badgett died early Tuesday morning at his residence.
He was born Jan. 25, 1924, in Pelly, to George H. and Lola Irene McCray Badgett.
Mr. Badgett was retired from Exxon as a welder. He was a member and deacon of Felders Chapel Assembly of God Church. He also served as president of the Men’s Prayer Group.
Mr. Badgett was a veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Air Force. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
He was preceded in death by brothers, Donnie Badgett and Kenneth Badgett; and grandson, Micah Drew White.
Mr. Badgett is survived by his wife, Viola M. Badgett of Grapeland; daughters, Marcia Kay Stuart of Grapeland and Teresa White of Mount Pleasant; son, George H. Badgett III; brothers, R.D. Badgett of Dayton and Herschel Badgett of Baytown; 13 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be George Badgett IV, Gregory Badgett, Michael Badgett, Clint Burrow, Damon Burrow, Joel Bryce White, Wesley Walker and Wade Marcontell.
Honorary pallbearers will be the Men’s Prayer Group of Felders Chapel Assembly of God Church.

Mrs. Torrez died early Wednesday morning at Palestine Regional Medical Center.
She was a homemaker and a member of Lone Pine Baptist Church.
Mrs. Torrez was born March 28, 1958, in Palestine to Billie R. and Verna Jo Davis.
She was preceded in death by a brother, David Davis.
Mrs. Torrez is survived by her husband, Paul Torrez of Palestine; her mother and stepfather, Verna and Clyde Wainwright of Palestine; her father, B.R. Davis of Palestine; her grandmother Geneva Davis of Elkhart; daughters, Paula Rea of Whitehouse, and Tracie Salas and Sue Lynn Torrez, both of Palestine; brother, Ronnie Thornton of Palestine; and four grandchildren.

MARVIN McQUEEN
Services for Marvin McQueen, 77, of Palestine will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at Roselawn Park with the Rev. David Luckett officiating. Bailey & Foster Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. McQueen died Thursday at a Palestine hospital.
He was born Aug. 24, 1922, in Grapeland. He was a World War II veteran, serving with the Navy Seabees. He had worked as an appraiser for Lindsey-Newsome Insurance Adjusters and was a Baptist.
Mr. McQueen is survived by a daughter, Margaret Haney of Richmond; a son, Maj. (Ret.) Mike McQueen of San Antonio; a sister, Cora Berner of Palestine; and two grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. today at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a favorite charity.

Mrs. Rampy died Friday morning at a Winnsboro hospital.
She was born June 6, 1919, in Oklahoma. She was a homemaker and a member of Judson Baptist Church.
Mrs. Rampy is survived by husband, Conrad “Joe” Rampy of Cayuga; a daughter, Debbie Kirk of Mobile, Ala.; a sister, Charlene James of Durant, Okla.; four
grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Services for Jim Boyd Jones, 52, of Palestine will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Herrington/Land of Memory Chapel, with the Revs. Carl Lane and Theo Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in Land of Memory Cemetery.
Mr. Jones died Friday at his Palestine residence after a lengthy illness.
He was born June 26, 1947, in Palestine. He was retired from the Texas Department of Criminal Justice and had been working as a electrician with Henderson Electric.
He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in the Vietnam War. He was a member of Westwood Baptist Church and a Mason.
Mr. Jones is survived by wife, Janice Elaine Jones of Palestine; mother, Esler Jones of Palestine; sons, Jeremy Jones, Randall Jones and Jason Jones, all of Palestine; brothers, Leroy Jones and Don Jones, both of Palestine, and Billy Bob Jones of Tyler; a sister, Katie Watson of Nacogdoches; and four grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Michael Wells, Dennis Moser, Jerry Holcomb, Lee Jones Jr., Terry Ellis, A.P. Hendrix, Jerry Don Jones and Stephen Watson.

GRADY U. ISBELL
Services for Grady U. Isbell, 95, of Elkhart will be at 10 a.m. Monday at First United Methodist Church in Elkhart, with the Revs. David E. Foster and Gerald Brown officiating. Burial will follow at Pilgrim Cemetery under the direction of Bailey & Foster Funeral Home.
Mr. Isbell died Friday at an Elkhart healthcare facility.
He was born Jan. 21, 1905, in Grimes County near Iola. He was employed by Gulf Oil Corp. for 35 years — 20 of which he spent in Kuwait, Venezuela, Europe, North Africa, Iraq and Iran. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Elkhart Masonic Lodge for more than 60 years, Scottish Rite and Lions Club.
Mr. Isbell was preceded in death by his wife, Evalena Kyle Isbell; and sisters, Zula McDougald, Rose Foster, Sadye Bowman and LaRue Moore.
He is survived by many nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Wayne Isbell, Jack Isbell, Bill Perry, B.K. Dodd, Jerry Stephens, Kenneth McDougald, Taylor Paul and the Rev. Gerald Brown.

HAZEL NICHOLS
Services for Hazel Nemer Nichols, 83, of Palestine, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Philip’s Episcopal Church with the Rev. Mike Glenn officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Park under the direction of Bailey & Foster.
Mrs. Nichols died Monday morning at Palestine Regional Medical Center.
She was born Aug. 17, 1916, in Palestine, to Abraham and Nazly Chakur Nemer.
Mrs. Nichols was retired from Flournoy’s Furniture Store as general assistant and sales clerk. She was a member of St. Philip’s Episcopal Church and an active member of St. Mary’s Guild. She was a charter member of Harvey Woman’s Club and the Ladies Auxiliary of VFW Post 3907.
Mrs. Nichols was preceded in death by two infants; sisters, Julia Nemer Kraus and Ethel Nemer Rogers; and brothers, Costor Nemer and Nick Nemer.
She is survived by son, Joseph Ray “Joey” Nichols of Bacliff; sisters, Mrs. Curtis (Jay) Mann and Rose Nemer, both of Palestine; brother, Alexander Nemer of Palestine; one grandchild and three great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be J.T. “Tommy” Davis, Dr. David Alkek, Bill Kashouty, Alexander Nemer II, Frank George, Marley Styner, Costine A. Droby and Jesse George.
In addition, all employees of Palestine Regional Medical Center EMS, the following have been designated as honorary pallbearers: Richard Farris, Maurice Rosson, John Youngblood, William George, Ed Bedre and Elmo Overton.
