Billy Don Riddle, 84
Died: Friday, September 09, 2011, in Abilene, Texas
Billy Don Riddle, 84, died Friday, September 9, 2011, at an Abilene medical center.

Born in Abilene, Texas on November 6, 1926, Don was the son of Sibyl Gladys (Erwin) and John Ervin Riddle. He graduated from Abilene High School in 1944, and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Geology from Oklahoma University. Mr. Riddle first worked for 26 years as a geologist for Amoco, working in Abilene, Midland, Fort Worth and New Orleans. He also worked at Westland Petroleum in Houston, and most recently for Gus Edwards and Co. in Abilene.

Don married Joyce Elise Cringle on April 16, 1949 in Oklahoma City. He was a member of Pioneer Drive Baptist Church in Abilene, and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Barbara Dean.

Survivors include his wife, Joyce Riddle of Abilene; three sons, Mark Riddle of Fairfax, Oklahoma, Craig Riddle and wife Vicki of Alvarado, Texas, and Kent Riddle and wife, Cindy of Denham Springs, Louisiana; a daughter, Donna Mitchell and husband Ray of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; six grandchildren, Robbie Riddle, Brian Riddle, Shawn Riddle, Kevin Riddle, Connie Riddle and Jeffrey Riddle; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, September, 12, at Pioneer Drive Baptist Church with Dr. Jeff Reid officiating. Interment will follow in Elmwood Memorial Park directed by The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

John William "J.W." Simpson, 77
Died: Tuesday, September 06, 2011, in Abilene, Texas
J.W. Simpson, 77, of Abilene, passed away Tuesday, September 6, 2011 at his home. Visitation will be from 5:30 to 7:00 pm on Thursday, September 8, 2011 at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, September 9, in the chapel at First Baptist Church. Dr. Phil Christopher and Rev. Palmer McCown will officiate. Graveside services will be private.

J.W. was born in Island Forty, Tennessee to Willie and Mary (Howard) Simpson on November 28, 1933. He graduated from high school in Marion, Arkansas in 1952. After graduating from high school, J.W. moved to Abilene. He married Lynnette Simpson in Sweetwater, Texas on April 25, 1954. He retired in 1992 from the U.S. Postal Service where he worked as a Postal Register Clerk for many years. J.W. was a member of the Greater Abilene Kiwanis Club for 15 years. He also served on the Board of Directors of the American Heart Association from 1986 until 2010. J.W. enjoyed coaching sports. He coached girls softball, Little League Baseball and the basketball team at University Baptist Church. From 2001 to 2010, J.W. worked part time at Hendrick Medical Center. He was a member of First Baptist Church for many years where he served as an usher and a deacon.

He was preceded in death by both of his parents. J.W. is survived by his wife, Lynnette Simpson of Abilene; one son, Steve Simpson and wife Ramona of Stephenville; one daughter, Darla Wallace and husband E.C. of Aberdeen, Maryland; three brothers, Bill Simpson of Kerrville, Ray Simpson of Gatesville and Albert Simpson of West Memphis, Arkansas; two sisters, Dorothy Lagos of West Memphis, Arkansas and Mary Chambliss of Marion, Arkansas; and four grandchildren, Marc and Bryan Simpson and Brittany and Ethan Wallace.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, 149 N. Willis St., Suite 10, Abilene, TX 79603; the American Cancer Society, 3402 N. 1st St., Suite 102, Abilene, TX 79603; or to the City Lights Ministry in care of First Baptist Church, 1333 N. 3rd, Abilene, TX 79601.

Mildred L. Fritsch, 88
Died: Friday, August 26, 2011, in Abilene, Texas
Mildred L. Fritsch, 88, of Abilene died Friday, August 26, 2011, at an Abilene medical center

The daughter of Vora (Baltimore) and Ed Hinsley, Mildred was born on April 25, 1923 in Colorado City, Texas, where she graduated from high school. She married Werner Otto "W.O." Fritsch on March 29, 1941 in Sweetwater, Texas, and in 1960 moved from Sweetwater to Abilene. Mildred was a receptionist at Dyess Federal Credit Union, retiring after 25 years.

Mildred was a very active member of Our Savior Lutheran Church, and a volunteer at Abilene Regional Medical Center.

She was preceded in death by her husband, W.O. Fritsch in 1962; her parents; and one brother, Jimmy Hinsley.

Mildred is survived by her two daughters and their husbands, Ginger Manchesian and Rex of Andover, Kansas, and Mary Ann Waddell and Buddy of Lubbock, Texas; and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 30, at Our Savior Lutheran Church with Pastor LaVerne Janssen officiating, directed by The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road. The graveside service will be private for the family. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Roy E. Herring, Jr., 88
Died: Tuesday, August 2, 2011, in Temple, Texas
Roy E. Herring, Jr., 88, died Tuesday, August 2, 2011 in Temple, Texas at Scott & White Hospital.

The son of Rose (Ruark) and Roy E. Herring, he was born on April 2, 1923 in Abilene, Texas. Roy was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He was a self-employed rancher. Mr. Herring was a member of Pioneer Drive Baptist Church. He was a Shriner, a member of Texas Cattleman's Association, and a lifetime member of the NRA.

Roy married Voncille "Kitty" Landers on December 12, 1941. He was preceded in death by his wife, Kitty Herring, on April 14, 2005, and his parents.

Roy is survived by his son, Don Herring and his wife Kay of Fort Worth; sister, Geraldine McWilliams of Temple; three grandchildren, Melinda Roberson and husband Randy of Abilene, Tim Herring of San Rafael, California, and Dee Dee Herring of Fort Worth; two great-grandchildren, Rayce Roberson and Mandy Roberson; and numerous cousins.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, August 5, at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road in Abilene, with Rev. Jack Ridlehoover officiating. Interment will follow in Elmwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Friday prior to the service from 1:30 to 2:00 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to the donor's favorite charity.

"Molly" Mary E. Seaboalt, 72
Died: Wednesday, July 27, 2011, in Abilene, Texas
"Molly" Mary E. Seaboalt, 72, of Abilene, passed from this life on Wednesday, July 27, 2011, in Abilene, Texas.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, July 29, at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road, Abilene.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 30, at The Hamil Family Funeral Home with Wade Anthony officiating. Burial will follow in Tecumseh Cemetery on County Rd. 1178 south of Dudley.

Molly was born in Merkel to Ernest Calvin and Lola Mae Goodwin Douglas on January 17, 1939. She went to school in Merkel. Molly married Ray Seaboalt on January 4, 1992 in Merkel. She was a very devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend to all. Her smile and sense of humor will be greatly missed.

Molly was preceded in death by her parents; brothers William J. (Dub) Douglas, E.C. Douglas, Jr., and Tommy Lynn Douglas; sisters Wanda Lilly Tipton and Nita Spann.

Molly is survived by her husband Ray; son Billy and wife Gianna Butman; daughters Donna and husband Frank Porter, Debbie and husband Tim Gullett, Traci and husband Gary Foster, Tammy and husband Blake O'Donald; brothers Troy Douglas and George Douglas; and sister Mae Gauntt. She was blessed with 16 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Robbie Dutton, Tim Gullett, Mike Hosaflook, James Tate, Jimmy Williams and Robert Williams.

The family of Molly wishes to extend our sincere thanks to the entire staff of the Hendrick Cancer Center and the magnificent ladies of Parker 7.

Glen H. Smyth, 84
Died: Friday, July 22, 2011, in Abilene, Texas
Glen H. Smyth, 84, entered into the presence of the Lord on Friday, July 22, 2011.

Family visitation will be held at the Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road on Monday, July 25, from 5:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Glen's Life Celebration will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 26, at Pioneer Drive Baptist Church. The service will be officiated by Reverend Jack Ridlehoover, Pastor Chad Mitchell, Dr. Jeff Reid, and Reverend Stan Allcorn. A graveside service will follow at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday in Dundee Cemetery in Dundee, Texas.

Glen was born February 12, 1927, the son of Jot and Inda Smyth in Dundee Texas. He lived through his childhood there until he graduated from Holliday High School in 1945. He soon enlisted in the U.S. Navy where he played a vital role in bringing soldiers home from World War II during the Truman Administration. His service to his country was an incredible honor he recounted with pride even in recent days. He then sought higher education in 1946 at Tarleton College, now Tarleton State University. In 1947, he transferred to Texas Christian University to advance his education through 1949.

In 1950, Glen's began working in oilfield supply, initiating a drive to succeed and a lifetime career as an entrepreneur in the oil field industry. He and a partner ventured into drilling wells in just a few years. In 1958, Glen launched the first of two oilfield chemical companies, Excel. In 1960, he founded Celex, his second oilfield chemical business which he owned and operated himself until his passing.

Glen married his "Sweet, " Helen Ruth Howard of Winters, Texas on August 19, 1966. Glen was a member of Pioneer Drive Baptist Church for 47 years.

Glen loved music with a special passion for Jazz and Western swing. One of his most beloved pastimes was traveling with his wife Helen to Western Swing Festivals throughout Texas. Glen also loved sports, especially the Texas Rangers, TCU Horned Frogs, and the Abilene High Eagles.

The family wishes to thank the amazing staff of Hendrick Hospital-those who serve in ICU, Hendrick Hospice, A-3 and A-5-for the unconditional support, compassion, and servanthood they exemplied to Glen in his last days.

Memorial gifts may be sent to the Ben Richey Boys Ranch, 501 Ben Richey Drive, Abilene, Texas 79602 or your favorite charity in lieu of flowers.

Glen Smyth is survived by his wife Helen Smyth of Abilene, many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by both parents, one brother Jot Smyth II two sisters Merrion Smyth and Lois Drummond. Glen's life and legacy will be remembered always by those who cherished him. In the tradition and passion of his love for Western swing, his boundless zest for life, and the certain hope of seeing us again, he's humming one of his favorite songs, "Happy trails to you till we meet again. Happy trails to you, keep smilin' until then."
