James Ellis "Jim" Miller, 86

James E. "Jim" Miller, 86, of Abilene, passed away Monday, September 5, 2011. A memorial service will be held at 4:00 pm on Friday, September 9, 2011 at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road. Dr. Jeff Reid will officiate.
Jim was born, January 20, 1925 to Estil and Edith (Johnson) Miller in Miller, West Virginia. He graduated from West Virginia University and served in the United States Army during World War II. He married Virginia "Ginger" Harper on January 9, 1954 in Cold Spring, Kentucky. Jim was a Forrester in Colorado. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved the outdoors. Jim moved to Abilene from Denver, Colorado in 2003. He was a member of Pioneer Drive Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Marge Warren and Jean Cole. Jim is survived by his wife, Ginger Miller of Abilene; his son, Michael Scot Miller and wife Jami Adams, M.D. also of Abilene; his daughter, Debra Kay McVicker and husband John McVicker, M.D of Denver, Colorado; and three grandchildren, Dan McVicker (Stephanie), Sarah McVicker-Waters (Meghan) and Garrett Miller.

Louise Molly Lowman Clemmer, 74
Died: Wednesday, August 10, 2011, in Abilene, Texas
Louise "Molly" Lowman Clemmer, 74, died Wednesday, August 10, 2011, in Abilene, Texas.
The daughter of Artie Alma (Hunt) and Herman Wise Lowman, she was born on August 25, 1936 in Robstown, Texas. She was born on earth to bloom in Heaven.
Molly married Cloise Ellis Clemmer in July of 1975. She was a loving wife and mother, and a very talented artist and gardener. She lived for her children, enjoying each precious moment of their lives.
She was preceded in death by two sons, Brett Dean Clemmer and Eric Lauson Clemmer; her parents; a sister, Nadine Brown; and two brothers, Bernie Lowman and Joe Lowman.
Molly is survived by her husband, Cloise Ellis Clemmer of Abilene; three daughters and their husbands, Shannon and Dennis Bishop of Sachse, Texas, Heidi and Kirk Ressmann of Tyler, and Jody and Cody Cory of Hawley; one son and his wife, Clay and Jennifer Clemmer of Tyler; ten grandchildren, Kristin, Ross, Brooke, Megan, Lindsey, Trenton, Tallon, Emily, Colin and Conner; and three great-grandchildren, Avary, Lilly and Hunter. Survivors also include a brother, Bruce Lowman and wife Cora Sue of Corpus Christi; a sister, Lois Lowman of San Antonio; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, August 12, at Clear Fork Baptist Church in Hawley with Rev. Larry Tarver officiating, directed by The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road in Abilene. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Private family burial will be at the Texas State Veterans Cemetery at Abilene.
The family expresses special appreciation to the staff, owners and residents of Southern Meadows for being a caring and loving home for our mother.

Larry A. Smith, 70
Died: Tuesday, August 9, 2011, in Eastland, Texas
Larry A. Smith, devoted husband, father, and grandfather, went to be with his Heavenly Father on August 9, 2011.
Larry was born on Oct. 9, 1940 in Tulsa OK. He graduated from Handley High School in Ft. Worth, TX in 1958. He started working for Johnnie Johnson Tire Company in 1959, opened Abilene Bandag in 1975 and several other Bandag dealerships. He also worked for GCR, Southern Tire Mart and traveled the world training for Michelin Tire Company in which he retired from in 2008. Larry was a mentor to so many people and taught the retreading business to many franchises and dealerships throughout the US.
He had a multitude of friends and family and will be greatly missed. He married Kay Mensch on July 3, 1974. Larry loved spending time with his family and his fishing & hunting buddies. He never met a stranger and was loved and respected by many. His lifelong dream was to be a rancher which he was able to fulfill with his wife at the Smith Ranch in Clifton TX.
Survivors include his wife, Kay Smith; Daughter Chanda Harris and husband Mark of Abilene; Son Ambre (A.C.) Smith and wife Adrian of Ft. Worth, TX; Twelve grandchildren, Justin, Cody, Jordan, and Hunter Harris, Ambre Jr, Amber, Mandy, Larry, Willow and Dallas Smith, Liberty Belcher, Tralene Hunston; One great-grandchild, Jaxon Harris; One Brother, Bill Kisselburg and wife Dorothy of Tulsa, OK and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother Helen, his step-mother Mertie and his father Herschel Smith.
Services will be at 2 pm Saturday, August 13, at The Hamil Family Funeral Home with Rev. Jerry Smith officiating. Entombment will follow in Elmwood Memorial Park Mausoleum III. There will be a gathering of family and friends at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Rd., Abilene, Friday from 5-7 pm.

Aubrey Manning Wadley, 82
Died: Monday, June 13, 2011, in Abilene, Texas
Aubrey Manning Wadley, 82, of Abilene, passed away Monday, June 13, 2011. Funeral services will be at 1:30 pm on Thursday, June 16, 2011 at the Abilene First Church of the Nazarene. Pastor Garland Wallace and Brother O.W. Wilson will officiate. Burial will follow in Elmwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 pm on Wednesday at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road.
Aubrey was born December 8, 1928, in Cisco, Texas, to Gordon and Esther Wadley. He graduated from Eastland High School in 1947 and attended Cisco Junior College until 1948. At that time he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. He was stationed in Fairbanks, Alaska, for two and one-half years. From there he was transferred to Tyndall AF Base in Panama City, Florida, and was discharged in July of 1952.
Aubrey married Luverne Williams in Panama City on August 22, 1952. They moved to Eastland, Texas in 1953 where Aubrey was in the refrigeration and air conditioning business with his father. He later worked for an electric company in Breckenridge and then moved to Abilene in 1958. He was with Timex Company until it closed in 1977. He later worked for Abilene Christian University in the energy management department, retiring in 1993.
Aubrey was very active in his church, Abilene First Church of the Nazarene, serving on the church board for many years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Gordon and Esther Wadley. Aubrey is survived by his wife, Luverne, of Abilene; one daughter, Marla Rose and husband Monte of Cunningham, KS; one son, Mark Wadley and wife Cynde of Abilene; three grandchildren: Landon Oldham and wife Vickie of Cunningham, KS, Lauren Wadley and Blake Wadley, both of Abilene; and one great-granddaughter, Morgan Oldham. He is also survived by his brother, Margil Wadley and wife Evelyn of Laguna Woods, CA.

Christine B. Scott 58
Died: Tuesday, May 31, 2011, in Abilene, Texas
Christine B. Scott, 58, of Abilene, passed away Tuesday, May 31, 2011. She was born December 8, 1952 to Anthony and Irene (Kreysche) Keller in Aurora, Colorado. She served in the United States Air Force from 1972 to 1976. Christine married Donald Scott on December 3, 1976 at Eielson Air Force Base in Alaska. In 1986, Christine and Donald moved from Florida to Abilene.
She was preceded in death by her father. Christine is survived by her husband, Donald Scott of Abilene; her mother Irene Padavic of Aurora, Colorado; two daughters, Diana Richards and husband Joshua of Ft. Worth and April Scott of Abilene; a half-brother Peter Keller of Colorado; and three grandchildren, Zachary, Christopher and Emily Richards.
Christine Scott was a devoted wife and mother who wanted nothing but the best for her family. She was a lover of animals, and cared deeply for the persecuted. She will be missed greatly. Christine is finally getting to dance with her Savior!

Tyler LaRee Schilling DuBois, 20
Died: Sunday, May 22, 2011, in Abilene, Texas
Our lives were forever blessed beyond measure by a beautiful baby girl with a head full of black hair with a single curl atop and eyes a bright blue that could only be created by the heavens. They shined a light of a spirit so beautiful, so authentic, so exquisite, and so beautifully bright blue you knew they were that of an angel.
Tyler LaRee Schilling DuBois is her name and that day was April 19th, 1991. Born to Lori Kathleen Schilling of Clyde, Texas, and Delmas LaRoi DuBois, with whom she stands hand in hand. Tyler LaRee entered Heaven's gate on May 22nd of 2011.
Tyler LaRee stays in spirit with her stepfather, Steve Foerster of Clyde, Texas; brothers, Travis Schilling of Arizona, Justin Schilling of Arizona, and Jose Guerrero of Abilene; sister, Brenna Guerrero of Abilene; brother, J. W. Schilling of Clyde; and sisters-in-law, Melanie Schilling and Patricia Schilling both of Arizona. Tyler is beyond an "Auntie" to Jose Anthony, Faith LaRee whom she now holds in her arms in Heaven, Bella Grace, Priscilla Hope, Janiece Lovell, Taylor Justine, Ashlyn Jade, Bristol Schilling, Kathryn Janelle, Kasiah Lanae, Austin Nicholas, Tyler Preston and Devon Edward.
Tyler touched the lives of everyone she met and left a light that cannot be extinguished for all of her family and friends who will love her always. Being an amazing and genuine young lady, Tyler saved the lives of four people through organ donation.
Her memorial service will be held on Wednesday, May 25th, at 11:00 a.m. at The Hamil Family Funeral Home Chapel, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road. The final resting place of her cremains will be in Tucson, Arizona, alongside her niece, Faith LaRee.

Helen Loraine Lail, 85
Died: Monday, May 16, 2011, in Abilene, Texas
Helen Loraine Lail went to be with our lord on Monday, May 16, 2011 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. With heavy hearts we celebrate her life as a beloved wife, loving mother, adoring grandmother and a proud great-grandmother. Funeral services will be at 11:00 am on Friday, May 20, 2011 at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road with Chaplain E.J. Chafin officiating. Burial will follow in the Bluff Creek Cemetery, Taylor County Texas. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Thursday, May 19 at the funeral home.
Helen was born in Vancouver B.C., Canada on May 28, 1925 to Earl and Louise (Taylor) Fennell. They lived there for six years before coming to the U.S.A. At the tender age of 19 she met the love of her life, Bill Lail while living in Southern California. After a wonderful romance they eloped and were married on July 30, 1945 in Salinas, California. Three days later, her husband Bill was shipped out to the Pacific during WWII. Left alone so quickly after their marriage Helen went to live with his parents on the Albee Ranch in Montana. While awaiting his return she was a school teacher for the rural students in the Big Hole Basin. Upon his return and their glorious reunion they moved to the beach area of Southern California, where they resided until moving to Abilene, Texas in the early 1960's.
She found great joy in the Texas Ranch style life. Always surrounded by a loving family - the gatherings were endless. Her love of life made her the rock and center of our family. Her unconditional love resides in all of us. She will be greatly missed.
Helen is survived by her husband Bill; three children - (son) Gary William Lail and wife Pati, (daughter) Connie Louise Lail Jones and husband Tom, (son) James Floyd Lail and wife Barbara; one loving sister, Diane Simpson, and two most precious cousins, Joyce Frazier and Virginia Crawford. She leaves behind eleven grandchildren: Celeste, Candice, Loren, - Christopher, Patrick, Amber - Heather, Samantha, Brandi, Phillip and Ryan; six beautiful great-grandchildren: Krista, Dillon, Taylor, Ethan, Dylan, Gavin, and the seventh due to be born this September.
The family wishes to give special thanks to Dr. Victor Hirsh, and his dedicated nurse Linda for many years of kind and gentle care during her illness; as well as to Hendrick Hospice Care, Tommi, Mary-Lou and Brooke. You are forever in our hearts.
Sondra Lynn Clark, 66
Died: Wednesday, May 11, 2011, in Abilene, Texas
Sondra Lynn Clark, 66, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, May 11, 2011.
Services will be held at Wyndrock Baptist Church, 4340 Edgemont Drive, Abilene, Texas at 10 A.M., Saturday, May 14. Visitation will be Friday, May 13, from 6 - 8 P.M. at The Hamil Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road, Abilene, Texas. Reverend Ernie Kight and Reverend Charles Payne will be officiating. Honorary Pallbearers are Lee Harville, David Byous, Mark Scroggs, and Mike Scroggs. Interment will be in Laurel Land Memorial Park in Fort Worth, Texas. No graveside service is planned.
Sondra was preceded in death by her parents, J.W. Boyd and Glenna Boyd; her loving husband of 38 years William James Clark; and infant daughter Susan Kaye Clark.
Sondra was born on August 7, 1944 in Mangum, Oklahoma. She graduated from Kennedale High school in Fort Worth, Texas and attended Bartlesville Wesleyan College in Bartlesville, Oklahoma.
She enjoyed music - playing the piano, organ, accordion, guitar, and loved to sing, especially with her sisters. She loved to read, embroidery, crochet, quilt and can vegetables from her garden.
"Sonnie" as everyone called her, was a beautiful Christian woman. She was an example of God's love at work in the world - it showed in her kind words, and the thoughtful things she did for others - always there to give you a hug and lend a helping hand. The depth of kindness, patience, and loving guidance she had for anyone who knew her and worked with her will never be duplicated. She was an extraordinary woman with many talents. Her home was always filled with an abundance of laughter, love and plenty of good food. She was dedicated to her church, faithful in worship and never missed giving over and above in her tithes and offerings, as well as philanthropist support to numerous organizations which were dear to her heart and which made a profound difference in many lives.
Her skills in the Banking and Mortgage Loan business were unmatched. She was Vice-President and Mortgage Loan Officer for the First Abilene Federal Credit Union. She taught her co-workers to always see the glass half full instead of half empty. She mentored so many of the credit union employees. She had charisma that was contagious. She was active in the Professional Women in Building; Abilene Board of Realtors, Big Country Home Builders Association, Women's Council of Realtors. She received the Black Diamond Award of Excellence based upon her excelling performance and is only given to those who show extra skill, innovation and perseverance exemplified in their performance as a Credit Union partner. She received the award at the CU Members Mortgage awards banquet in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.
Survivors include one son, Jim Thomas Clark of Brownwood, Texas; one daughter Cindy Lynn Boyd of Baird, Texas; three grandchildren, Elizabeth Boyd and Lyndsi Boyd of Baird; and J.T. Clark of Brownwood; three sisters, Carolyn Scroggs of San Angelo, Texas; June Brown of Bowie Texas; Paula Friend of Burleson, Texas; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be given to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation headquartered in Dallas, Texas.
