Dana Gay Rideout, 54, passed away Sunday, September 21, 2008 at a local hospital. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:30 pm on Wednesday, September 24 at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road. Funeral services, with Phil Ware, Steve Ridgell, Terry Chrane and Jonathan Straker officiating, will be at 2:00 pm on Thursday, September 25 at the Highway 36 Church of Christ. Burial will follow in the Tecumseh Cemetery.
Dana was born in Abilene, Texas on August 22, 1954 to Harvey and Janice (Barton) Wise. She graduated from Abilene Christian High School and Abilene Christian University with a bachelor's degree in teaching. Dana was a native of Abilene. She grew up in the Southern Hills Church of Christ and was now a member of the Highway 36 Church of Christ. Dana has worked with and supported the American Quarter Horse Association, Southwest Reined Cow Horse Association, National Reined Cow Horse Association as well as many others.
She was preceded in death by her father, Harvey T. Wise and one sister, Sheila Wise. Dana is survived by her husband, Teryl Rideout, of Baird; her mother, Janice Martin, of Abilene; one son, Colby Rideout, of Baird; one daughter, Danyelle Hemphill and her husband Heath, of Coleman; one sister, Darla McLeod, of Abilene; and two grandchildren, Ethan and Hadley Hemphill.

Robert Avery Mayfield, 81
Died: Monday, December 01, 2008, in Abilene, Texas
Robert Avery Mayfield, 81, passed away Monday, December 1, 2008 at Hendrick Medical Center after a battle with cancer. Funeral services, with Rev. Lee Fuller officiating, will be today, Wednesday, December 3, 2008, at 2:30 p.m. at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road. Entombment will follow in Elmwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. prior to the funeral service at the funeral home.
Robert was born the youngest child of Robert Henry Mayfield and Sarah Annie Story Mayfield on June 1, 1927 in the Union Community of Jones County. He attended school in Union and graduated from Anson High School in 1945. Upon graduation he immediately joined the Navy, where he served in World War II, mostly at PT Boat Base #17 in the Philippine Islands. He was discharged in August 1948. Robert married Bobbie Proffitt in Anson. They celebrated 60 years of marriage on September 4, 2008.
Robert worked for Halliburton Company, first in Anson, then in Cisco and finally in Albany, where he retired. He was always active in civic organizations, church and school actives, as well as the Masonic Lodge. He was presently a member of Wylie Baptist Church, the Reliable Sunday School Class, the DAV, VFW and John Sayles Masonic Lodge, where he was honored with a 50 year member ceremony in 2007. He was privileged and honored to serve as Mayor of Albany from 1972 to 1974, when they moved to Abilene.
Robert's hobbies included gardening, reading and watching sports. He was well known for his recipe for growing tomatoes and state winning pecans. He loved taking his grandchildren fishing and arrowhead hunting.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and four sisters, and his lifelong best friend, Leon Blankenship. Robert is survived by his only sibling Bea Simpson, of Abilene; his wife, Bobbie, also of Abilene; daughter, Christine Key and her husband Joe, of Dallas; son, Joe Mayfield and his wife Shelia, of Tuscola; granddaughter, Lorie Key Haas and her husband Hunter, of Dallas; grandson, Robert Key and his wife Kirby, also of Dallas; great-granddaughter, Piper May Haas; as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins and in-law family, which he considered his own. He will be sorely missed.

Carmoncita Louise "Carmon" Marr, 71
Died: Tuesday, November 18, 2008, in Lubbock, Texas
Carmoncita Louise Lynn was born to Lowell and Ophelia Lynn, October 26, 1937, in Burnet, Texas. She died November 18, 2008, at University Medical Center in Lubbock, having lived 71 years, 2 weeks and 5 days. Funeral services, with Ed Brown officiating, will be at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, November 21 at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road. Visitation hours will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, November 20 at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Hamlin Cemetery. Carmon was a strong, quiet, thoughtful friend, who was loved by all who knew her. Her Christian Faith was obvious to all.
Carmon attended school at Oatmeal, Bertram and Burnet before graduating from Abilene Christian High School in 1955. She attended ACC in the 1950's. Carmon was married to Jerry Neal March 28, 1958 in Burnet, Texas. Jerry preceded her in death. Their children, Tammye Lynne and Jerry Junior, attended ACU in the 1970's. The family lived for a time in Azuza, California where they owned and operated a craft shop. Carmon and her family served a congregation of the Church of Christ in Las Vegas, Nevada, before returning to Abilene. On May 20, 1982, Carmon married Lloyd Marr at the Highland Church of Christ in Abilene. Since that marriage they have been faithful members of the Hillcrest Church of Christ. For several years Carmon worked for the Abilene Higher Education Authority, helping ACC students who sought loans for college expenses. She helped in negotiating and monitoring repayment schedules.
She was predeceased by her parents, her first husband, her son, and a step-daughter, Sherry Marr. She is survived by her husband, Lloyd Marr of Abilene, her daughter, Tammye Lynne Rogers and husband Wally of Seguin, Texas, grandson, Asher Rogers of Seguin, Texas, brother, Loyd Lynn and wife Eula of Atmore, Alabama, brother, Nelson Lynn and wife Judy of Burnet, Texas, and several cousins, nieces and nephews. Also surviving are uncles, Loyd Williams and wife Marie of Franklin, Texas, and Albert Williams of Barksdale, Texas, and aunts, Vera Geer and husband Sam of Abilene, and Edna Brown and husband, Edward, also of Abilene. She is also survived by step-children, Thomas and Kat Marr, as well as five step-grandchildren.

Walter A. "Bud" Danko, 59
Died: Sunday, November 23, 2008, in Abilene, Texas
Walter "Bud" Danko, of Abilene, passed away Sunday, November 23, 2008 at the age of 59. Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 26, at Holy Family Catholic Church. Father Fred Nawarskas will officiate. Burial will follow in the Garden of Memories Cemetery. There will be a visitation at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 25 with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m.
May 12, 1949, Bud was born in Cohoes, New York to the late Walter A. Danko, Sr. and Hazel A. (Lanthier) Danko. He graduated from Shenendehowa High School and Potsdam State University in New York with a Bachelors Degree in Computer Science. Bud married Carol E. Parker on May 1, 1971. He was a Systems Operation Manager for PACTIV for 22 years. He retired in 2005 and moved to Abilene from Illinois. He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church.
Walter's parents preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife, Carol Danko, of Abilene; one son, Brian Stephen Danko and his wife Jodi, and one daughter Carrie Jo Myers and her husband Greeley, all of Abilene; two sisters, Paula Schultz and Lisa Lunderman and her husband Kris, all of Austin; two grandchildren, Grant Matthew Myers and Nolan Christopher Myers; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Douglas George Ayers, 74
Died: Thursday, September 25, 2008, in Abilene, Texas
Douglas George Ayers, 74, passed away Monday, September 22, 2008 at a local hospital. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Wednesday, September 24 at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road. Funeral services, with Mark Aldriedge, Greg Pavlik and Foy Mills officiating, will be at 2:00 pm on Thursday, September 25 at the Hamby Church of Christ. Burial will follow in Elmwood.
Douglas was born September 3, 1934 in Colorado City, Texas to Dee and Jimmie (Doss) Ayers. He graduated in 1953 from Snyder High School. He started working for Mobile / Exxon in the summer of 1951 and in 1953 he began working full-time for the company. He worked for Cities Service Oil for four years and then started his own company which he ran for 30 years. On October 26, 1956, Douglas married Jacqueline (Jacque) Harrison in Midland, Texas. He served in the United States Army.
Douglas was a member of the Aledo Church of Christ, prior to moving to Weatherford, Texas in 1983. He and Jacque were members of South Main Church of Christ in Weatherford for 25 years. He served as a deacon at both churches. Abilene has been his home for the past 11 months. He was currently a member of Hamby Church of Christ.
He was preceded in death by his parents. Douglas is survived by his wife of 51 years, Jacque Harrison Ayers; three daughters, Patti Ayers Pavlik and husband Greg, Mitzi Ayers Mills and husband Foy, Terri Ayers Aldriedge and husband Mark; six grandchildren, Joshua and Jeffery Pavlik, Whitney Mills Kasinger and husband Joshua, Lindsey Mills, Shay and Jace Aldriedge; and two great-grandchildren, Jordan and Ella Kasinger.

Viola Frances Harvey, 91
Died: Saturday, December 06, 2008, in Abilene, Texas
Viola Frances Harvey, 91, died Saturday, December 6, 2008 at a local hospital.
She was born Yolanda Epifania Mazza on January 6, 1917 in Long Branch, New Jersey. In 1943 she married John F. Harvey, who was at that time, an Army lieutenant stationed at Fort Monmouth, New Jersey.
Mrs. Harvey was a homemaker and a long time volunteer at the Dyess Air Force Base legal office, library, and hospital and, beginning in 1985, as a tutor in the English as a Second Language (ESL) program in Adult Education. She was recognized as the outstanding volunteer ESL tutor for the 1998-1999 school year.
Mrs. Harvey was preceded in death by her husband of fifty years, Dr. John F. Harvey. She is survived by two sons, John F. Harvey III and Robert L. Harvey, both of Abilene; and a granddaughter, Melissa M. Harvey, of Rolla, Missouri. She was a Catholic.
Her sons will receive friends from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 9, 2008 at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road. Mrs. Harvey will be laid to rest with her husband at Arlington National Cemetery.
Fred Lynn Draper, 76
Died: Thursday, September 25, 2008, in Clyde, Texas
Fred Draper, of Clyde, passed away Thursday, September 25, 2008 at the age of 76. Graveside services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, September 29, in Willow Cemetery in Haskell, Texas. Visitation will be from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. today, Sunday, at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road.
Fred was born in Haskell, Texas on November 21, 1931to Frank and Ruth Draper. He attended school in Walters, Oklahoma and worked as a farmer. He was also a night-watchman for 23 years in Haskell, Texas. Fred married Frances Louise Stone in Haskell, Texas. He has been a member of the First United Methodist Church in Haskell since 1947.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Frances L. Draper, in 1999; three daughters, Glenda Storm, Kim Livingston and Karen Livingston; and one brother, Lee Abbey. Fred is survived by four sons, David Livingston, of Abilene, Harvey Livingston and his wife Carol, of Caldwell, Randy Livingston, of Haskell and Steve Livingston, of Clyde; one daughter, Kathy Gosdin and her husband Tom, of Bernalillo, New Mexico; his twin sister, Dorothy Stricklin, of Duncan, Oklahoma; 18 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
Fred will be greatly missed by his many friends and family.
