Carryole Jean Bruha

Born: Aug 27, 1930
Died: Feb 08, 2009
Carryole Jean Bruha passed away on February 8, 2009 at her home in San Angelo, Texas. Carryole was born on August 27, 1930 in Camp Douglas, Wisconsin to Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Crawford. Being the wife of a military officer, she lived in many places, both statewide and overseas, but spent the past 34 years in San Angelo.

Carryole was an elementary teacher in Wisconsin and Guam. She devoted her life to homemaking after she was blessed with children. In her later years, Carryole attended Angelo State University where she was introduced to clay as an art form and she spent many happy hours in her ceramic studio at home.

Carryole was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd and Hazel Crawford. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, retired Colonel Harlan L. Bruha, USAF, of San Angelo; her son Joe Bruha, of Stamford, CT; her son Mark Bruha and his wife Carla, of San Angelo; granddaughter Whitney Bruha, of College Station, TX; and step-grandchildren; Tara King, of San Angelo, John King, of Lubbock and Misti Rose of Mertzon; step great-granddaughter Bethannie Rose; her beloved sister Maxine Greek, of Des Moines, IA; brother-in-law Kenneth Bruha and his wife Gloria, of Bradenton, FL; numerous extended family members and many cherished friends; including Joe and Madelaine Stapp, John and Rusty Nikolauk, Alice Torrez and Ricky Dennis.

The Bruha family expresses special thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff of the West Texas Renal Center; Community Hospital, the Hospice of San Angelo and Concho Home Health Care.

The family will hold a private memorial service. Memorials in Carryole's name may be given to Hospice of San Angelo or a charity of choice. She will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew her.

Joe P. Gutierrez

Born: May 11, 1923
Died: Aug 24, 2010
Joe P. Gutierrez, 87, of San Angelo passed away on Monday, August 24, 2010 at a local nursing home.

Rosary service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, August 27, 2010 at Robert Massie Riverside Chapel.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 28, 2010 at St. Margaret’s Catholic Church with Father Joseph Choutapalli officiating. Burial will follow in Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens.

Joe was born on May 11, 1923 in Eldorado, TX to Luis and Rosa Gutierrez. He was a carpenter and cabinet maker. Joe married Otilia Hogeda at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in San Angelo on August 27, 1954.

Joe is survived by his wife, Otilia Gutierrez of San Angelo; son Julian Martinez and wife, Adela of San Angelo; son, Joe Gutierrez and wife, Irene of Sugarland; son, Larry Gutierrez and wife, Maggie of Round Rock; daughter, JoAnn Sevier of Round Rock; daughter, Janie Rodriguez and husband, Richard of San Angelo; daughter, Barbara Aguilar and husband, Manuel of San Angelo; sixteen grandchildren, twenty-eight great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Efrin Martinez, Martin Houser, Reynaldo Herrera, Joe Ruiz, Carlos Sandoval, and Fernando Sandoval.

Earl Ward

Born: May 06, 1932
Died: Aug 23, 2010
Lyndal “Earl” Ward, 78, of San Angelo passed away on Monday, August 23, 2010 at his residence.

Earl was born on May 6, 1932 to James and Ella Ward in Monroeville, Alabama. He married Helen Allen on December 10, 1952 in Brady, Texas and they have shared 57 years of marriage. He proudly served in the United States Air Force, was in the Korean Conflict, and retired.

Visitation will be 8:00am to 9:00pm Wednesday, August 25, 2010 at Robert Massie Funeral Home.

Graveside services will be at 10:00 am Thursday, August 26, 2010 at Rochelle Cemetery in Rochelle, Texas with Chaplain Mark Riggins of VistaCare officiating. Arrangements are by Robert Massie Funeral Home.

Survivors include his wife, Helen; daughter, Pamela Baker of San Angelo; son, Robert Ward of Cincinnati, Ohio; sister, Winnette Stokes of Monroeville, Alabama; brother, James Ward of Monroeville, Alabama; granddaughters, Megan Graves and Chanelle Baker of San Angelo; grandsons, Jake Ward and Jaren Ward of Cincinnati, Ohio; and great grandsons, Benjamin and Darian Graves of San Angelo; niece, Marie Clatterbough of Monroeville, Alabama.

Matthew Smith

Born: Jan 21, 1985
Died: Aug 21, 2010
Matthew Smith, 25, of San Angelo passed away on Saturday, August 21, 2010 in a local hospital.

Matthew was born on January 21, 1985 in Carbondale, Pennsylvania to Michael and Joanne Eckerman. He had a kind heart, a helping hand, and was friendly to everyone around. He will be greatly missed.

Visitation will be from 2:00pm to 3:00pm on Wednesday, August 25, 2010 at Robert Massie Funeral Home. Arrangements are with Robert Massie Funeral Home.

Survivors include his parents, Michael and Joanne Eckerman of San Angelo; sisters, Candice Smith and Rebecca Smith both of San Angelo; and numerous aunts and uncles.

Ima L. Carroll

Born: Aug 01, 1921
Died: Aug 21, 2010
Ima L. Carroll, 89, of San Angelo went to be the Lord on Saturday, August 21, 2010 at her residence.

Ima was born on August 1, 1921 to David and Suzie Layne in Blackwell, Texas. She married John Carroll on May 21, 1948 in San Angelo and they shared 58 years of marriage until his journey to heaven on September 25, 1998. She retired as a civil service employee from Goodfellow Air Force Base after 33 ˝ years. In her early years she made and sold ceramics and attended arts and crafts festivals all year round. She was well known by all her neighbors for always working in her yard and decorating for all the holidays. She also had a very strong passion for cats and cared for them as her babies. She touched many people in her life. She was a very wise and knowledgeable woman who loved talking about all the historical events in her life span.

A rosary will be held at 7:00pm Tuesday, August 24, 2010 at Robert Massie Riverside Chapel.

Mass will be at 10:00 am Wednesday, August 25, 2010 at St Mary’s Catholic Church with Father David Herrera officiating. Burial will follow at Belvedere Memorial Park. Arrangements are with Robert Massie Funeral Home.

She was preceded in death by her husband John Carroll, her parents, and all her siblings.

Survivors include her son, Art Arteaga of San Angelo, daughter in law, Maria Arteaga of San Antonio. Grandchildren Jacqueline and husband Victor Marin of San Angelo; Art Arteaga of San Angelo and Preston Arteaga of San Antonio. Great grandchildren Laryssa Arteaga, Landan and Landry Marin all of San Angelo. She also had numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Art Arteaga, Preston Arteaga, Victor Marin, P.V. Soto, Raymond Torres and Paul Soto.

The family would like to thank Vista Care Hospice, especially Virginia Dooley, for all their accommodations as well as her caretaker Julia Cruz.

Alex Villarreal

Born: Feb 15, 1936
Died: Aug 17, 2010
Alex Villarreal, 74 of San Angelo went to be with his Lord Tuesday August 17, 2010 at his residence.

Visitation will start at 8:00 AM on Thursday August 19, 2010.

Prayer Service will be 7:00 PM Thursday August 19, 2010 at the Robert Massie Riverside Chapel.

Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Friday August 20, 2010 at the Robert Massie Riverside Chapel with Chaplain Mike Dorman, of Interim Hospice, officiating. Burial will follow at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are by Robert Massie Funeral Home.

Alex was born February 15, 1936 in Corpus Christi to Pedro and Aurora (Rodriguez) Villarreal. He was an excellent carpenter and painter and worked in construction for many years.

He married Emma Martinez on July 29, 1976 in San Angelo and they shared 34 wonderful years together until her passing on April 6, 2010.

He is preceded in death by his wife, his parents, and two brothers; Ruben Villarreal and Demetrio Martinez.

Pallbearers will be Jeremi Villarreal, John Alex Villarreal, Cody Martinez, Ernie Duran Jr., Alonzo Robinson and Gabriel Roundtree.

Survivors include his sons; Raul and wife, JoAnn Villarreal of San Angelo, Alex Jr., and wife, Bunnie Villarreal of Abilene, Ray and wife, Diane Villarreal of Odessa and John Edward and wife, Beatrice Villarreal of Midland; step-sons; Elias and wife, Linda Gomez of Tampa, FL., Jesse and wife, Liz Gomez of San Angelo and step-daughter, Lisa and husband, Ernie Duran of Stephenville; eighteen grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews; brothers; Ricardo and wife, Soila Martinez of San Angelo, Noe and wife, Rosie Ybarra of San Angelo; sisters; Belia Duran of Tucson, AZ and Irma Cordova of San Antonio.

Our family wants to extend a very special “Thank You” to Richard and Mandy Sosa and Ricky Sanchez who treated him with love and care like he was family, and to Interim Hospice for the wonderful services and guidance they gave to our family.
