Ramon Porras

Ramon Porras, 86, of San Angelo went to be with our Lord and Savior Monday, July 12, 2010 at a local nursing home.

Rosary services will be held at 7:00 pm, Thursday, July 15, 2010 at the Robert Massie Riverside Chapel.

Mass will be held at 10:00 am, Friday, July 16, 2010 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father Rodney White officiating--burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery.

Ramon was born on December 3, 1923 in Cd. Juarez, Chihuahua, Mexico. He married Dolores Porras on April 24, 1952. They lived their married life and raised their family in San Angelo, Texas.

He was a sixty year member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. He volunteered in the 1950’s with the Church to build the St Joseph Sanctuary. His love for our Savior, Jesus Christ was absolute and complete. He knew Christ was his Father and that all blessings come from him.

He loved his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He had many friends in the community, especially from his previous employment at Montgomery Ward and Gandy’s.

A special thank you to the wonderful employees at Park Plaza, Regency House, the caring personnel from Shannon Hospital and ICU, and Hospice of San Angelo for making his stay as comfortable as possible. Thank you to the many caring friends and family that supported us during this difficult time.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Genaro and Paulita Porras; and sisters, Socorro Garcia and Rosa Tafolla.

Ramon is survived by his wife of 58 years, Dolores Porras; his children Carmen Guerrero and husband Sebastian, of San Angelo, Texas and Javier Porras and wife, Yolanda, of San Angelo, Texas; his granddaughters, Amanda Munoz and husband Manuel, of Allen, Texas, Erica Porras, of San Antonio, Texas, Marina Amador and husband Nathan, of San Antonio, Texas, Monica Martinez and husband Oscar, of Kerrville, Texas and Amy Bellido, of San Angelo, Texas; his grandson Xavier Porras, of San Angelo, Texas; and five great-grandchildren, Nadia Ramirez, Victoria Tapia, Isabella Munoz, Anastasia Porras, and Hervey E. Tapia.

Dad and Grandpa – we will miss you and love you always.

Leona Leland

Died: Jul 10, 2010
Leona Leland, 90, of Eldorado, passed away on July 10, 2010 in Eldorado.

Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. at Robert Massie Riverside Chapel with the Reverend Steve Rowe of the First United Methodist Church of Eldorado officiating. Burial will follow at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are with Robert Massie Funeral Home.

Leona was born in Palestine, Texas to Earnest W. Grooms and Ruby B. Allmon on September 19, 1919. She married D. L. Leland on December 5, 1966 in El Paso, Texas. She was as a cosmetologist who taught Beauty College and owned three beauty salons. She also owned an art studio and taught art for many years. Leona was a past worthy matron and lifetime member of Eastern Star. She loved spending time with her family, traveling, and enjoyed square dancing for many years.

Leona is preceded in death by husband D.L. Leland, two sisters and one brother.

She is survived by son, Guy Rogers, Jr. of Eldorado; daughter Gloria Swift and husband Jerry of Eldorado; sister Lottie Jones of San Angelo; brother Lloyd Grooms and wife Ruby of Woodbridge, Virginia; grandchildren Jody Rodgers, Leslie Rogers, Tina Rogers, Mitzi (Mimi) Rogers Imboden, Todd Swift and wife Camille, Shanna Swift Greer and 12 great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be given to First United Methodist Church of Eldorado, 15 North Divide Street, Eldorado, Texas 76936 and Meals on Wheels for the Elderly, 310 East Houston Harte Freeway, San Angelo, Texas 76903.

Bessie Jean Riley

Bessie Jean Riley, 78, of San Angelo passed away on July 8, 2010 at Shannon Medical Center.

Family visitation will from 6:00pm to 8:00pm on Monday, July 12, 2010 at Robert Massie Riverside Chapel.

Graveside services will be held at 10:00am on Tuesday, July 13, 2010 at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens with Rev. William Hickman of Maranatha Church of God in Christ officiating.

Bessie was born in Henning, Tennessee to Fred A. and Millie (Conrad) Blakley on September 16, 1931. She met her husband Jack Riley in Missouri, where they were picking cotton and after a three week courtship, they married on October 5, 1947 in Tunica, Mississippi. They enjoyed 51 years together before he passed away in April of 1999. She worked at Baptist Memorial Retirement Center for 32 years as a Nurse’s Aide.

Bessie is preceded in death by her husband, Jack Riley, Sr., son John Riley, granddaughter Amanda Riley, and sister, Frances and two son-in-laws, Jim Parkhurst and David Tosney.

Bessie is survived by sons Richard Riley of San Angelo and Jack Riley and wife Brenda of Joshua, Texas; daughters Patricia Tosney of Sayre, Oklahoma and Irene Brown and husband Terry of Austin; 12 grandchildren, including special granddaughter Angela Sutton and her husband Otis of San Angelo, and 17 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brothers, Buddy Blakely, David Blakely, and Ray Greer of Ripley, Tennessee, sisters, Martha Davis of Ripley, Tennessee and May Willard of Texas.

Sandra Dale Bearfield Scott

Sandra Dale Bearfield Scott, 60, of San Angelo passed away on Monday, July 5, 2010 at her residence surrounded by her loving family.

Sandy was born on March 27, 1950 to Billie Valton Bearfield and Bonnie Marie Jordan in San Angelo. She married Willard Scott on May 28, 1985 in San Angelo, Texas and was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her parents Billie and Bonnie Bearfield, sisters Billie Frock and Pat Stewart.

Sandy is survived by husband, Bill Scott; daughters Robbi Pena and husband Pete of Early, and Tracy King of San Angelo; son Michael King and girlfriend Heather Reumert of Houston; grandchildren Ryan, Andrew, Cole, Shelby, and Raigan and great-grandchildren Ryan Jr. and Peyton, brother-in-law Alford Stewart and nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 8:00am to 8:00pm Friday, July 9, 2010 with the family present from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at Robert Massie Funeral Home.

Funeral Services will be Saturday, July 10, 2010 at 6pm at the Robert Massie Riverside Chapel. Burial will be at 8pm that same night at Mullins Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Gregg Underwood and the Staff of Robert Massie Funeral Home.

Douglas Joshua Henderson

Douglas Joshua Henderson, 77, of San Angelo passed away on Tuesday, June 22, 2010 at Val Verde Regional Hospital in Del Rio.

Douglas was born on April 13, 1933 in San Angelo to George and Genevieve (Beede) Henderson. He was a graduate with an honors degree in Pure Mathematics, University of Texas at Austin in 1955. He was a geophysicist in the oil industry and worked for Gulf Oil, Phillips Petroleum, Exxon, Shell, and others. His work carried him to North Africa, (Libya and Algeria) and South America (Venezuela), Europe (Paris). He evaluated seismic information from here in America, and also Turkey and India. He served in the U.S. Navy Reserve and had docked once in Cuba. He was a world class fencer and went to Olympic trails for Epee, Saber, and Rapier. He was a wonderful son and devoted brother who took care of his family. Then neatest uncle, loved, and admired by his nieces, nephews, and the best friend that a person could have.

Graveside services will be 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 26, 2010 at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens Mausoleum with Chaplain Jim Benson officiating. Entombment will follow after the service.

Survivors include his brother, George G. Henderson, Jr. of Fredericksburg; and a sister, Elaine Henderson of Pomfret Center, Connecticut; nephews, George M. Henderson; William D. Henderson; Perry E. Henderson; Patrick W. Henderson; and Troy Doile; nieces, Cynthia Bastek and Karen D’Angelo. There are 11 great nephews, 7 great nieces, and 2 great-great nieces, and 1 great-great nephew.

Robert " Bob " Wooldridge, Jr.

Died: Jun 13, 2010
Robert “Bob” Wooldridge Jr., 88, of San Angel passed away on Sunday, June 13, 2010 in San Angelo.

There will be no funeral services and interment will be private at Fort Bliss National Cemetery. Arrangements are by Robert Massie Funeral Home.

Robert Wooldridge, Jr. was born in San Angelo to Robert Wooldridge and Oyet Eanne Craig Wooldridge on October 8, 1921. He married Celia Flores on August 5, 1994 in San Angelo. He graduated from the University of Arizona. He was a veteran of World War II, serving and retiring from the United States Air Force.

Robert Wooldridge, Jr. was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, nephew Herschel Carmichael, brother-in-law Archie Carmichael, favorite aunt Corene Gober, and first wife Fran Van Dyke Wooldridge.

Robert Wooldridge, Jr. is survived by wife, Celia Wooldridge, sister Melba Carmichael, nephew Robert Carmichael, niece Charlotte Theis, and stepchildren Mark Anthony Ahola of Dallas, Amy Ahola Robles of San Angelo, and Amanda Rangel of Irving.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Hospice of San Angelo.

The family of Robert Wooldridge wishes to extend their sincere thanks to the doctors, nurses, and staff at Shannon Medical Center, as well as the ER staff, for the care during his critical time; to Park Plaza for the special care by its nursing staff; to Hospice of San Angelo who treated with comfort and loving care.
