Sue Williams Wheeler
January 28, 1930 - February 24, 2016
Sue (Williams) Wheeler, age 86, died Wednesday, February 24, 2016, following an acute stroke. The loved ones at her bedside called her passing peaceful and ladylike. Services will be at St. Paul United Methodist Church, Wednesday March 2, 11 am, Rev. Felicia Hopkins officiating.
Sue was predeceased by her loving husband of 54 years Roy Harold Wheeler, Jr., her brother Lynn L. Williams Jr., and her parents. Survivors include son William (Sue C.) Wheeler, of Lansing, MI, their daughters, Ruth Wheeler of Farmington, NM, and Jeanine Wheeler of Lubbock and Abilene; son David (Elena) Wheeler, their son Bogdan; and daughter Lisa (Robert) Peterson; sisters Lou (James) Owen and Nancy (David) DeGroot, and several nieces and nephews.
Sue started life January 28, 1930, in Callahan County, Texas, the third child and second daughter of Lynn L. and Ruth (Park) Williams. She attended Putnam and Moran schools, then Hardin-Simmons College where she was a devoted member of the Cowgirls. She finished her studies in three years, and married Harold on June 30, 1950. They made homes in Cincinnati, Ohio, and San Jose, California, before returning to West Texas.
A lifelong Methodist, Sue's faith was the cornerstone of her life. She and Harold helped found Forest Chapel UMC in suburban Cincinnati, where among other duties they served together in the infant nursery for many years. They were active in Good Samaritan UMC in San Jose before joining St. Paul's.
Sue is remembered as a talented and dedicated classroom teacher, an avid participant with Harold in square and round dance weekends, and a wise, sensitive and caring volunteer in hospitals, assisted living and nursing homes, and hospice. She and her beloved Shelties have brought peace and comfort to many through pet therapy, and have helped children with reading difficulties through "read to a dog" programs at libraries and schools.
Despite her many achievements, Sue was proudest of her family. The love she shared with them will be felt long after she has departed.

Kathleen Walker Renfro
August 5, 1955 - February 28, 2016
Kathleen Walker Renfro, 60, passed away peacefully on Sunday evening, February 28, 2016 at her home in Abilene. Visitation for family and friends will be 6:00 till 8:00 PM, Wednesday, March 2, 2016 at Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 Hwy 277 South. Funeral service will be 2:00 PM, Thursday, March 3, 2016 in the Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow the service in Elmwood Memorial Park.
She was born August 5, 1955 in Amarillo, TX to parents, Howard O and Polly Ann Walker. She was a 1974 graduate of Abilene High School. She worked for Cintas for 36 years as a seamstress. She loved to cook and bake for her kids, sew, enjoyed fishing and hunting, and had the green thumb to grow anything.
Kathleen is survived by her husband, Johnny Lopez; three children, Jacqulin Fulfer and husband Wade, Earl Johnson Jr. and wife Megan, Jeremiah Johnson and wife Geanna; grandchildren, Cameron, Jacob and Ashley Fulfer, Skie Nicole Wilson and husband Daniel, Clayton Gauge Foster, Kaydence, Charlie, and Casey Johnson, Owen and Emalyn Johnson; great grandchildren, Roree and Isaiah Wilson; step-children, John Lopez and wife Denise, Marcus Lopez and wife Cassandra, Chris Buckner and wife Lena, Joe Lopez, Monica Ortega; step-grandchildren, Alex, Aliza, Joseph, Maria, Teresa, Diego, Gabriel, Santi, Gabby, Gavon, Trenton, Autum, Guinevere, Johnny, Jackson, Sam, Carley; three siblings, Victor Walker and wife Donna, Cynthia Chaney and husband Bobby, and Donna Young; and Numerous other family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and grandson, Miles Johnson.

Roger William Sporisky, 85, of Abilene passed away Tuesday, March 1, 2016 in Abilene.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, March 4, 2016 at Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Elmwood Memorial Park. Visitation will be held Thursday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
Roger was born on February 11, 1931 in Wausau, Wisconsin to the late Walter William Sporisky and Anna Olivia Erickson Sporisky. He was a veteran having served in the U.S. Air Force. Roger married Claire Burlingame on August 2, 1966 in Glasgow Montana. He retired from the Air Force after 21 years and then went to work for West Texas Wholesale and retired after 20 plus years. Roger enjoyed bowling and was in many leagues. He was awarded Director of the Year, the President Award 1991-1992 season, inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1999, YABA President from 1990 to 1992. Roger served with the Boy Scouts of America for over 50 years and received the District Award of merit, Silver Beaver in 1993 and served on multiple Wood Badge Staff Course. He was a member of the local American Legion Post 57.
Roger is survived by his wife Claire Sporisky; sons, Wayne A Sporisky and wife Darla; Walter A. Sporisky; grandchildren, Diania M. Sporisky, Amber Sporisky, Crystal L. Sporisky, Delton M. Chambers, Kaitly P. Sporisky; 11 great grandchildren; sisters, Iann A. Sporisky and Janet M. Sporisky; brother, Stanley R. Sporisky.
Roger was also preceded in death by his sister, Stella R. Sporisky.

Ricky Wayne Blakley
August 13, 1954 - February 25, 2016
At 7:18 AM Thursday, February 25, 2016, the Lord completed His band. Rick Blakley, born August 13, 1954 to Don and June Blakley in Gorman, Texas, was an extravagant man. He was an avid musician who helped many others get their start with his own label, Windsong.
In 1972, Rick married Karen McGough, and they became parents to their son, Darion Blakley, in 1976. He worked for Aileens Manufacturing for seven years as well as oilfield work alongside his grandfather, Howard Blakley. He worked for CPI as a leasing manager for three years before starting his own housing contract company, which he continued until his illness made it hard.
An avid fisherman and camper, Rick was known for his practical jokes and laugh, to which many can attest. He was involved with Boy Scouts for many years as an assistant and later a full Scoutmaster. He was loved by all and would help others at any cost and had many friends, too numerous to mention.
Rick was preceded in death by by his father, Don Blakley; grandparents Evelyn and Howard Blakley and Ruby and John Hurley.
He is survived by his son, Darion Blakey and wife Eva of Abilene; his significant other Karen Chapman of Abilene; mother, June Blakley of Hagerman, NM; brother Jerry Blakley of Arlington; sister Alicia Dunahoo of Hagerman, NM; grandchildren Gabriella Flores, Conner Mangum and Arriah Almanza of Abilene; step children Sarah Chapman and Becca Gibson of Abilene; nieces and nephews Tori Rodriguez, Kelsea Bullock, Josh Bullock, Jeremiah Blakley, Donny Blakley and Aiden Dunahoo, all of New Mexico.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday, February 28, 2016, in the Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel, 5750 Hwy 277 South.

James Harrell Ables, 77, of Abilene passed away Friday, February 5, 2016 in Abilene.
A funeral service will be held Wednesday, February 10, 2016 at 11:00 AM at Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel. Burial with military honors will follow at Elmwood Memorial Park. Visitation with the family will be Tuesday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
James was born on November, 3, 1938 in Erath County to the late Charles Rivers Ables and Opal Doris Ables. He married Linda Whittenberg in Stephenville, TX on January 2, 1959 and had 57 wonderful years together. James proudly served his country in the Air force as an Aircraft Electrician and retired after 29 years of service. He then went to work for the city of Abilene as an Electrician and retired after 23 years of service. He was a member of VFW Post 6873 and enjoyed bowling and spending time with his family and friends.
James is survived by his wife Linda; 2 daughters, Paula Sutcliffe and husband Donald of Abilene, Jamie Fahntrapp and husband Jeffery of Eula; 4 grandchildren, Vanessa Brooks and husband Roy, Jennifer Fahntrapp, Scott Sutcliffe, Jason Fahntrapp; 3 great grandchildren, Christian Burnett, Mason Brooks, Jameson Kayden Fahntrapp; 3 siblings, Nelda Jean Crockett and husband Laudane, Donnie Ables, Freddie Ables and wife Carman; numerous nieces, nephews and dear friends.

George "Ebb" E. Sanders I am a Veteran.

George E. "Ebb" Sanders, 85, of Abilene passed away Sunday, February 7, 2016 in Abilene.
A graveside service will be held Wednesday, February 10, 2016 at 2:00 PM at Elmwood Memorial Park. Visitation with the family will be Wednesday from 12:00 to 2:00 PM at Elmwood Funeral home.
Ebb was born on June 16, 1930 in Marlow, Oklahoma to the late Jesse D. Sanders and Jottie Ball Sanders. He was a veteran of the Korean war serving in the U.S. Army. Ebb married Florine Cross on December 22, 1949 in Clayton, New Mexico. They enjoyed 66 years of marriage together. He worked most of his life in the Oil Fields. Ebb also worked cattle, enjoyed riding horses and roped. He hunted and collected Arrow Heads, fished and enjoyed using his metal detector. Ebb enjoyed meeting up with friends for coffee. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Ebb is survived by his wife, Florine; daughter, Cathy Johlke and husband Larry of Houston, TX; son, Greg E. Sanders and wife Darla of Abilene; sister, Rosemary Bishop; numerous nieces, nephews and dear friends.
Ebb was also preceded in death by a twin brother, Raymond Sanders and a grandson, Mathew Tyler Jolhke.
