Billy Eugene Jones, 65, passed away Friday, August 31, 2012 in Abilene. Visitation will be from 6:00 till 7:30 PM, Sunday, September 2, 2012 at Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 Hwy 277 South. Funeral will be 2:00 PM, Monday, September 3, 2012 in the Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel.
Gene was born July 10, 1947 in Stamford, TX to Chris and Annie West Jones. He married Peggy Dudensing in Stamford in 1978.He was the most generous and kind man that everyone knew. He loved his wife with all his heart and loved to travel. He worked for Schlumberger from 1975-2006. He enjoyed being with his sisters and brothers and traveling with them. His pride and joy was the house that he and Peggy remodeled into their dream home. He loved to kid, joke and play with the nieces and nephews and loved to play practical joke on people which made everyone love him more.
Gene is survived by his wife, Peggy; brothers, Otis Jones and wife Jane of Abilene, Chris Jones and wife Judy of Shawnee, Ok; sisters, Betty Allday and husband Jim of Abilene, Jo Ann Jones of Abilene, Peggy Holdbrooks and husband Weldon of Stamford, Jane Jones of Dallas, LoNell Jones of Charleston, SC; brother- in -laws, Glenn Dudensing and wife Debbie of Abilene, Kenneth Dudensing and wife Becky of Sweetwater; nephews, Matt Dudensing and wife Stephanie, Jeffery Dudensing and wife Rebekka; nieces, Debbie Pritchard and husband Bobby, Jill Loar and husband Scott, Tammy Baker and husband Ken, Cozy Jones, Michelle Calderon and husband Jesus of Kerrville, Jamie Redmon and husband Mac; great-nephews, Kaden, Connor, BJ and wife Jennifer, sage, Noah, Chris and wife Kasi, John Weldon, Eli, Corbin, Carter, Anson, Barrett, Hank; great-nieces, Kinzi, and Ava.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two nephews James Allday and Colin Jones.

Mabel Iona Earnest
August 19, 1939 - August 29, 2012
Iona Earnest, 73, passed away Wednesday, August 29, 2012 in Abilene, TX. Visitation will be 6 PM until 8 PM, Thursday, August 30, 2012 at Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 Hwy 277 South. Funeral service will be 1:30 PM, Friday, August 31, 2012 in the Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow the service at Texas State Veteran’s Cemetery.
Iona was born August 19, 1939 in Ovalo, TX to Harold and Mildred Gill Blankenship. She attended South Taylor High School and married D.R. Earnest in 1956. They moved to El Paso, TX where D.R. was stationed in the United States Air Force. After being stationed in Japan, they moved back to Abilene where she worked as a cosmetologist. She worked most of her career at Arties Cameo and Leggett Salon. She served as a Deacon at Brookhollow Christian Church, enjoyed sewing, cooking, and gardening. Spending time with and taking care of her family was the thing that brought her the most joy.
Iona is survived by her husband of 56 years, Dinzel Ray Earnest; three children, Gale Barnhill and husband Ken of Lake Dallas, Diana Walker and husband Steve of Tuscola, Danny Earnest and wife Debbie of Frisco; ten grandchildren, Iona Shaye Robinson, Kenneth Barnhill, Robert Barnhill, Rebecca Barnhill, Kari Barnhill, Jeremy Walker, Lyndi Manning, Lacey Gaffney, Ryan Earnest, Garrett Earnest; eight great grandchildren, Kenneth Robinson Jr., Iona Keeley Robinson, Kealey Barnhill, Kenneth Barnhill III, Andrew Ryan Barnhill, Hannah Walker, Maggie Walker, Madelynn Manning; one sister, Anita Evans; one brother, Don Blankenship; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Juanita Cumby and Jeanette Pittman.

Dennis W. Wesley
September 2, 1947 - August 28, 2012
Dennis W. Wesley, 64, passed away Tuesday, August 28, 2012 in Abilene. His funeral service with the Reverend Palmer McCown officiating will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, August 30th in the Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel, 5750 HWY 277 South with interment following in Elmwood Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Wednesday at Elmwood Funeral Home.
Dennis was born in Penns Grove, New Jersey on September 2, 1947. He graduated from Texas Military Institute in San Antonio in 1965. Dennis loved to read and was a history buff who was especially interested in WWII and the Civil War. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Abilene.
Dennis had a long career in law enforcement that began in 1968. He was passionate about his duties and served with all of his heart. Over the course of his career he worked as an officer in Victoria, Texas, Rosenberg, Texas, Hobbs, New Mexico, Albany, Texas, Hawley, Texas and was currently working part time as a police officer at Abilene Christian University.
Survivors include his wife, Jeannie Wesley of Abilene; two daughters, Jennifer Kerby of Malaga, NM and Dolly Fuentes and husband Robert of Hobbs, NM; one step-son, Darren Jones of Norman, OK; brothers, Terry Wesley of Austin and Gary Wesley of Palo Alto, CA; one sister, Pamela Holley of Austin; his father-in-law and mother-in-law; JB and Rama Beth Magers of Electra, TX; 5 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
His parents, Edmund Perry Wesley and Georgia Estelle Belk Wesley preceded him in death.

Gregoria G. Moreno
March 12, 1943 - August 20, 2012
Gregoria G. Moreno, 69, passed away on Monday, August 20, 2012, in Abilene. Funeral service will be at 10:00 AM, on Thursday, August 23, 2012, at Elmwood West United Methodist Church, 1302 South Pioneer Dr, burial will follow at Elmwood Memorial Park. Visitation for family and friends will be from 6:00 – 8:00 PM on Wednesday, August 22, 2012, at Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 Hwy 277 South.
Gregoria was born on March 12, 1943, in Alpine, TX, to parents Gregorio and Eujenia Gomez Garcia. She went to school St. Mary’s Academy, in Silver City, New Mexico, and later married John M. Moreno on August 25, 1962, in Abilene. Gregoria enjoyed entertaining and spending time with her precious family and friends.
Gregoria is survived by her husband, John Moreno Sr; her children, Sylvia Ann Moreno, John Moreno Jr and wife Olga, Daniel Moreno and wife Tammi, Gilbert Moreno, Mary Ann Moreno and Tony Gonzales, Robert Moreno and wife Christa; eight grand-daughters, two grandsons; twenty-one step grandchildren; and 1 great grand-daughter.
Pallbearers for the service are Elijio Barrera, Ezequiel Herrera, Augustine Perez, Joseph Perez, Jose Cruz Valdez, and Gregory Garcia III.
The family would like to offer a special “thanks” to Hendrick Hospice for their compassion and thoughtfulness they showed Gregoria, as well as the rest of the family, throughout her stay at the hospital.
Neoma Pearl Nash
March 17, 1940 - June 24, 2012
Neoma Pearl Nash, 72, passed away June 24, 2012 at her home in Ft. Worth. Visitation for family and friends will be 6-8 PM, Wednesday, June 27, 2012 at Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 hwy 277 South. Funeral will be 2 PM, Thursday, June 28, 2012 in the Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel.
Neoma was born March 17, 1940 in Gorman, TX to Buck and Ruby Anderson and graduated from Gorman High School. She enjoyed competing in the local beauty pageants and was named the Gorman Peanut Queen two years running in 1957-1958. She married Jimmy C. Nash in 1959 and they moved to Ft. Worth where she attended Business College. She worked with Jimmy as they operated several successful entrepreneurial endeavors throughout their 43 years of marriage until his passing in 2003. She enjoyed going to the casinos and play the slots, gardening, and spending time with her family.
She is survived by two daughters, Kelly Nash of Ft. Worth, Debra Nash of Ft. Worth; one grandson, Hunter Ashton Smith; two step-grandsons, Justin and Brandon Smith; three brothers, Butch Anderson, Shorty Anderson, Scott Marble; one sister, Pat Rojas; and several nephews, nieces and cousins.
Charlene Gilbreath Neese
February 25, 1932 - June 21, 2012
Charlene Gilbreath Neese, 80, passed away Thursday, June 21, 2012 in Abilene. Her funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, June 25th in the Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel, 5750 HWY 277 South with a private family burial following in the Garden of Memories at Elmwood Memorial Park. Visitation is from 6:00 to 7:00 PM Sunday at the funeral home.
Charlene was born in Waldron, Arkansas on February 25, 1932 the daughter of Charlie Jackson Gilbreath and Viola Carter Gilbreath. She married Ernest Eugene “Gene” Neese on November 25, 1952 and they came to Abilene in 1969 when Gene was stationed at Dyess Air Force Base towards the end of his career with the Air Force. Charlene worked for Cassle & Cassle for many years and was a faithful member of Elmcrest Baptist Church where she and Gene enjoyed working in the church library. Charlene also enjoyed sewing and working in her garden.
Survivors include her son, John Neese and wife Melissa of Abilene; her brother, E.C. Gilbreath and wife Barbara of Ft. Smith, Arkansas; her sister, Alice Coleman of Hot Springs, Arkansas; and a sister-in-law, Sue Hensley and husband Don of Salisaw, Oklahoma,
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Coronado Nursing Home for the love and compassion that they showed Charlene as a resident there.

Ouida Belle Snow

Ouida Belle Snow, 80 years of age passed away, May 28, 2012. Ouida was a resident of New Hope Manor Rest Home, Cedar Park Texas the past four years. Ouida lived 76 years in Abilene, Texas and is retired from AISD as a Cafeteria Manager. She is preceded in death by her husband, Johnny B. Snow and her Son, Ronnie Snow.
Ouida is survived by her son Johnny R. Snow of Cedar Park, Texas. Two Grandsons, Heath Snow of Georgetown, Texas and Jonathan Snow, Austin, Texas. Two Granddaughters, Heather Snow and Holly Snow of Abilene and three Great Granddaughters and three Great Grandsons. One Brother, Bill Kilpatrick of Abilene.
Visitation will be today, Wednesday, May 30, 2012 at 10:00 AM, at Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 hwy 277 South, followed by a graveside funeral service at 11 AM in Elmwood Memorial Park.
Helen Faye Smith

Helen Faye Smith, 84, passed away Thursday, June 14, 2012 in Abilene. Funeral service will be 9 AM, Saturday, June 16, 2012 at the Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel, 5750 Hwy 277 South.
Helen was born February 3, 1928 in Campwood, TX to Otho and Beatrice Welch and graduated from Barksdale High School. She married Harry Smith in 1947 and they enjoyed 65 years of marriage together. She worked for US Time and owned Smith Custom Draperies before going to work for the US Postal Service as a Rural Mail Carrier. She attended Abilene Bible Church for many years and enjoyed going to water aerobics at Hendrick Health Club.
Helen is survived by her husband of 65 years, Harry Smith; one son, James Smith and wife Mary; three daughters, Susan Walker and husband Mike, Tricia Johnson and husband John, Linda Clark and husband Craig; grandchildren, Heather Petro and husband David, Christiana Rivera and husband Joel, Jayme Smith, Gabriel and wife Christy Walker, David Walker, Lindsey Johnson, Marcus Johnson, Hayden Johnson, Wes Clark and wife Christina, Cory Clark, Will Clark; great grandchildren, Autumn, James, and Addilynn Rivera, Makayla, Elijah, and Karissa Petro, Brylyn Walker, Colson, Hartley, and Evyn Clark.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and one brother Bobby Welch.
