Interment will follow in Oakwood Cemetery under the direction of Metcalf Funeral Directors. Claude was born August 8, 1940 in LaFourche Parish, Louisiana and passed away August 27, 2002 in Conroe. Funeral services were held Wednesday, August 21, 2002, for Howard Conley Gooden 86, of Montgomery at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Mr. Gooden was born August 6, 1916 in Tulsa, OK and passed away in August 18, 2002 at home in Montgomery, TX. He owned and operated Gooden Truck Lines, a pipe stringing and handling company. He was involved in scouting, bidding and in constructing cross country petroleum and natural gas pipelines. He is survived by his loving wife for over 63 years, Faye Gooden; daughter, Lynette Vee Yeretsky and husband Stephen; sons: John Howard Gooden, Tobe Dean Gooden and wife Donna, Gregory Thomas Gooden, Howard Patrick Gooden and wife Cynthia; grandchildren, Michael Stephen Yeretsky, Myra V. Funeral services were held last Friday, August 16th for Carl James Key of Montgomery at Metcalf Funeral Home Chapel and interment was held at Bethel Cemetery. Carl was born April 5, 1941 in Dallas, Texas and passed away August 13, 2002 in Conroe. Carl was a devoted family man who loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Carl loved to fish, take care of his chickens, and enjoyed old western movies. Mr. Carter was born on December 5, 1924 in Jonesboro, Arkansas and passed away on August 15, 2002 in Montgomery. He was survived by his beloved companion, Doris Greider of Montgomery; son, Jim Carter and wife Susan of Westport, Connecticut; sisters, Inez Bridger of Jonesboro, Arkansas and Pat Lacy of Jonesboro, Arkansas; grandchildren, James H. James Leonard "Jim" Kahl
Funeral Services for James Leonard"Jim"Kahl 52, of Montgomery were held Friday August 2, 2002 at Metcalf Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Timothy J. Vowell officiating. Interment followed in Garden Park Cemetery under the direction of Metcalf Funeral Directors. Jim was born April 23, 1950 in Harvard, Illinois and passed away July 30, 2002 in Houston. Jim was owner of Kahl Air Conditioning and Heating, a family run business that served all of Montgomery County. Jim took pride in his work, took his family in and taught them the business. His family will dearly miss him in the daily operations. Jim was also an avid fisherman both fresh and salt water. His favorite past time was fishing on a lake or being out in the Gulf with family and friends enjoying life. Jim’s Grandchildren were special to him. He was involved in coaching softball with them and loved sharing time in their lives teaching them different things. Jim leaves behind his loving family:

William Ray "Willie" Walker
Memorial services for William Ray "Willie" Walker will be held on Friday, August 2, 2002 for 1 p.m. at Metcalf Funeral Chapel. Pastor Dowen Johnson of the April Sound Church will be officiating the memorial service. Interment will follow at Cude Cemetery with Metcalf Funeral Directors in charge of the arrangements. William Walker, 51, was born October 10, 1950 in Conroe, Texas and passed away on July 18, 2002 in Houston, Texas, after a long battle with cancer. He was preceded in death by his father, William E. "Son" Walker of Montgomery, brother, Gary Walker and brother Bob Harris of Montgomery. He is survived by his wide, Sandra Whisenhunt Walker, son; William D. "Will" Walker of Conroe, mothers; Pat Pruitt Walker of New Waverly and Eunice Rabon Walker of Montgomery and brother Mike Walker & wife Kathy of New Waverly and sister; Nora Rabon Neal of Montgomery and sister-in-laws: Nell Harris of Montgomery and Teresa Walker of Spring and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, family and friends. Willie Walker was a proud Texan of Montgomery County who attended Sam Houston Elementary in Conroe in 1956 (Mrs. Wilson’s class) where he first met Sandra, his wife and continued school in Conroe through the sixth grade when he moved to Montgomery with his family. He graduated from Montgomery High School in 1970 where he played football # 81 "the Weasel" for the Montgomery Bears with the team winning titles "District Champs in 1967 and 1969" and Region Champs in 1968 and 1969". After high school: 1971 Willie served in the Air Force and then continued his education at college majoring in criminology. Willie worked with the City of Houston for 25 years as a police officer starting as a motorcycle officer and moving on to aviation job control mechanic III. After reciting from City of Houston, Willie’s furthered endeavors as a private pilot, passion for history, geology, avid reader and writer.

Funeral services were held for Kari Michelle Baker 18, of Montgomery, Texas, Wednesday, July 24, 2002 at Cashner Funeral Home, with Rev. William Traylor officiating. Kari was born December 8, 1983 in Conroe, Texas and passed away in Montgomery, Texas, July 19, 2002. She was employed by Outback Steakhouse and was very involved in the Outback Families Charity and Communities Events. Kari graduated from Montgomery High School in 2002. Trea was born April 26, 1979 in Houston, Texas and passed away July 19, 2002, Willis, Texas. He is preceded in death by his grandfather, Jerry Gregurek and grandmothers, Beverly Johnston and Dorothy Knepper. He is survived by his mother, Donna Schramm of Willis, father, MSGT John Thomas Johnston Jr, and step-mother, Martha of North Carolina; sisters, Ashley Schramm, Brittany Schramm, Rachael Johnston and Rebecca Johnston; brothers, Micha and Cassidy Schramm; grandmother Betty Gregurek; grandfather, John T. Mr. Troyer was born February 4, 1923, in Seattle, Wash and passed away in Conroe, Texas on June 24, 2002. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather who will be missed dearly. He is survived by his loving family: wife, Carolyn; sons and daughters-in-law, Robert Troyer; Thomas and Rose Troyer and Terrance and Kim Troyer; daughters and son-in-law, Donna Schelin, Jeannie Langdon and Nicki and Mark Marsh; 13 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; many other relatives and friends.

Mr. Hues was born August 8, 1913 in Shepherd, Texas and passed away on June 24, 2002 at his home in Richards, Texas he was 89 years of age. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lovie Summerlin Hues, parents; Ellie and Mary Elizabeth Molly Hues; three sisters, Zelma Hues Porter, Bonnie Hues Kirkham and Evie Hues McGinnis; and two brothers, Rufus Hues and Joe Hues. He is survived by his son Alton Hues and wife, Toledo of Richards; two sisters, Laura Coulson of Magnolia and Cora Lee Baker of Humble; and grandchild, Toledo Hues of Richards.

Graveside services for Joe W. Cantrell, 85, of Conroe, were held on Thursday, January 23, 2003 at the Houston National Cemetery.
Mr.. Cantrell was born on March 2, 1917 in Athens, Texas and passed away on January 20, 2003 in Conroe, Texas. He served his country in the U.S. Army in World War II in the 124th Calvary Division and was awarded the Silver Star. He was a member of the local VFW. He is survived by his daughters, Vera Cantrell of Conroe and JoAnn Nollkamper and husband Gene of LaGrange; sons, Emmett Robinson of Franklin, Arnold Robinson and wife Jimmie of Angleton, and George King and wife Marlene of Houston; sister Novis; brothers Bobby Cantrell and wife Linda of Conroe, Clyde Cantrell and wife Delores of Houston, and Travis Cantrell and wife Peggy of Center; grandchildren, Cristy Lujan, Joe Loving, Jim Loving, Christopher Robinson, Harold Robinson; great grandchild, Ashton Loving; special friend Margaret King of Conroe.
