Grandma West, my Grandmother was a nurse for many years and will be missed by more people than you could imagine. If you were brought up in Montgomery County, chances are my Grandmother at one time or the other took care of you or someone you loved at the old hospital and then at the new hospital. I also lost a Great Uncle Johnnie Giesinger this week, and the reason I dropped this note in the obit is because even Uncle Johnnie’s daughter Sheri in her grief mentioned how Grandma West took care of her dad when he had a collapsed lung. Her story was one of many who have called this week or have mentioned this fact to me over the years. Grandma West life was that of taking care of people, even people she didn’t know, she’d take care of them as if she had known them all their life.
Even at the rest home she was at during the last days of her life, she still helped in her own way.
Back in the not so long ago days, Grandma was basically the family doctor for all of us in the community of Dobbin and Dacus and a good number from Montgomery. Many times people would come by or call to get her advise, and come to think of it, she never accepted anything for her service, but you were sure to take home some fresh vegetables from her garden.
She was one of the Great Ones and I know that God will take great care of her now! From Monte.
Visitation 6-8 pm Wednesday, January 23. Funeral services 10 am Thursday at Klein Funeral Chapel, Tomball. Interment will follow in Perry Cemetery.
