Sheila M. (Ormond) Mohn, age 37, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, April 14, 2006 in Nashville, TN.
She is survived by her childhood friend and husband of five years, MSG John B. Mohn from Clarksville, TN; parents, Toni Ormond of San Antonio, TX and Charles (Lori) Ormond of Floresville, TX; children, Ashton and Mason Guenther of Clarksville, TN; step-children, Brittany and Devon Mohn; sisters, Tracey Stanfield of Dallas, TX and Laura Ormond of San Antonio, TX; brother, Curtis (Courtney) Ormond of San Antonio, TX; grandmother, Angelina (Nona) Sereno; nephews, Bailey Ormond and Luke Ormond; and niece, Trinity Ball.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Rudy Sereno; paternal grandparents, Wilbert and Orene Ormond; uncle, Michael Ormond; and her in-laws, Bobbie and John L. Mohn.
The family wishes to extend special thanks to GEN John Mulholland, LTC Mark Mitchell, MAJ Brad Reed, CSM Mario Vigil, SGM Chuck Beebe, and the men and wives of the 5th Special Forces Group (Airborne). The family also extends special thanks to Dana Ruppel, Molly and Cal Colapietro, and Huneycutt Realty.
Pallbearers will be Charlie Ormond, Curtis Ormond, Paul Konvicka, Brian O’Higgins, Eric Sayers and Kevin Sayers.

Carl C. Barbour, Jr.

Carl C. Barbour, Jr., went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, April 15, 2006.
He is survived by his loving wife, Suzanne; 2 children, Kimberly Barbour-Goodman of Austin and her husband Lorne Goodman, and Carl Curtis Barbour III of Austin; 2 grandchildren, Koury Braden Barbour and Kaley Brielle Goodman; and 2 stepsons, Brian Frederick Doehring and Christoph Sweeney Doehring of San Antonio. Carl was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Lillian Barbour; and former wife Karen Koury Barbour.
Carl attended the Kinkaid School and graduated from Lamar High School. He attended New Mexico Military Academy and Oklahoma University.
Carl later went on to be an Air Force Reservist where he specialized in oral surgery. Carl was the proprietor and optician of Barbour’s Professional Opticians of Houston, a family business started by his parents in the 1940’s. Carl was a member of the Lions Club, Professional Opticians’ Guild, Baylor College of Medicine, and served as chairman of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Steer Committee.
Carl retired in 1994 and he and Suzanne moved to San Antonio. Carl touched the lives of everyone he met and will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and his dog Scruffy.
Carl was the best Dad in the world. He was so full of life and loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing, skeet shooting, and his ’56 T-Bird Convertible.

Antoinette (Toni) Root, age 67, passed away on April 13, 2006 following a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Born in New York City, she was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Jeanne Sieverman and brother Frank. She is survived by husband John, sons Stephen and Christopher, grandson Johnathon, brothers Andy and Casey, sisters Claire and Mary Elizabeth, and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
She was educated at Friends Academy, Long Island, NY, Arthur Hill High School, Saginaw, Michigan, and the Michigan State University.
After meeting and marrying husband John in Amarillo, TX, she devoted her life to the upbringing of her two sons and to supporting her husband’s career in the United States Air Force. Together, they journeyed to assignments in various states including Alaska and Hawaii, and to diplomatic posts with the United States Embassies in Malaysia and Canada. She was a lifelong golfer and bridge player.

Jacquelyn Eugenia Ramsdell was born September 13, 1927.
Her parents were Sally Perry Ramsdell and Glen L. Ramsdell. She died on Wednesday, April 12, 2006.
She is survived by her cousins, Jimmie Hess of Kerrville and Jeffrey Vining of New York City.
A resident of San Antonio, Jackie graduated from St. Mary’s Hall, Pine Manor College and the University of Texas-Austin. At UT, she belonged to the Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority.
After graduation, Jackie became the secretary of the Conopus Club, worked for Miss Robertson’s Antique Shop and then became a realtor at Jones-King Realty, where she served for more than thirty years.
Those there have expressed how much they will miss her and especially her wonderful sense of humor.
Jackie was active in many San Antonio organizations: the AlamoHeights-Terrell Hills Garden Club, Timely Topics, the History Club, the Battle of Flowers Association, the Junior League and the Forum. She belonged to the San Antonio Country Club, the Club Giraud and the Argyle.
She was a faithful member of Christ Episcopal Church.
Her friends want to thank those at Brighton Gardens Nursing Facility and those of Vista Care Hospice for their faithful, loving and competent care.
Special thanks go to Maria Garza, her housekeeper of more than 20 years.
Masayo Yasunaga

Masayo (Peggy) Yasunaga died here in San Antonio, TX. April 5, 2006. She was born on January 23, 1915 in Brawley, California. After attending school,
Ms.Yasunaga had an extended career with the US Army both in the US and overseas. At the time of her retirement at age 80, Ms. Yasunaga was serving as a court reporter for the Judge Advocate General’s Office.
After retiring, she moved to San Antonio and resided here until her death. For hobbies, she enjoyed painting, doing cross word puzzles and listening to classical music.
Ms. Yasunaga is survived by two nieces, Atsuko Ikeya and Ayako Yasunaga; a nephew, and Takafumi Yasunaga. Her great nephews are Jun Ikeya, Hiromi Yasunaga, Kazuhira Yasunaga, Masahiro Yasunaga, and her great niece is Risa Ikeya.
A Memorial Service will be held for her at the Chandler Center on Tuesday, April 25 at 10:00 a.m.
Interment will be in Suo-Oshima Cho, Oshima Gun, Yamaguchi Ken, Japan.
Barbara Schieferle Uhlenbrock

Barbara Schieferle Uhlenbrock, P.D., R.Ph., age 56, of San Antonio, Texas passed away in her home on Tuesday, April 4th, after a fourteen year battle with breast cancer.
Born August 12th, 1949 in Little Rock, Arkansas, she was preceded in death by her father, Henry DeSalvo.
She is survived by her husband, John Schieferle Uhlenbrock; her three children, Brett, Todd and Kara Peterson of San Antonio; and two step-sons, Johnny and Jeff Schieferle Uhlenbrock. Also surviving are her mother, Gloria DeSalvo, her brother, Stephen DeSalvo and his wife, Keeley, all of Hot Springs, Arkansas; her brother Mark DeSalvo and his wife, Dorsey of Destin, Florida; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and countless friends.
Barbara graduated from Mount St. Mary’s Academy in Little Rock, Arkansas in 1967. She attended the University of Arkansas Medical Sciences, School of Pharmacy, graduating in 1972. Her first position as a pharmacist was with Arkansas Children’s Hospital in Little Rock. She currently worked at Northeast Methodist Hospital in San Antonio where she was a pharmacist for almost 15 years.
Barbara traveled extensively in Europe and was an avid collector of teddy bears, searching for them in all corners of the world. We think she found each and everyone her heart desired. She was also a great fan of the San Antonio Spurs. Barbara's contagious smile, hearty laugh, kind heart and genuine love for life spread happiness to every life she touched. She will be missed greatly by all who knew and loved her.

Lt. Col. Ernest O. Nordquist, USAF (Ret.)

Lt. Col. Ernest O. Nordquist, USAF (Ret.), 83, passed away Monday, April 3, 2006, in San Antonio, Texas.
He was born in Cooperstown, North Dakota, one of three children born to Axel and Amanda Katherine (Stadig) Nordquist. He grew up in Moline, Illinois, where he graduated from Moline High School.
In 1942, he joined the US Army Reserve and took pilot training at Augustana College, Rock Island, Illinois. He graduated from Ellington Field, Houston, Texas, Navigation School in 1944, and began his military career. He served on B-24 and B-29 aircraft as a Navigator/Radar Specialist in the Western Pacific Islands, Japan and China until 1946. One memorable mission was a flight up the Yangtze River, in China, at 100 FT of altitude. What a ride! He returned to the US and attended Augustana College and graduated from Drake University with a degree in accounting.
Ernest was recalled to active duty in 1950, and served as Navigator, Radar Navigator and Instructor on B-29, B-36 and B-52 aircraft. During this period he met and married
the late Anna Mae Steiner of Mobile, Alabama, who was an Air Force nurse. His career took him to numerous stateside and overseas locations. He served as Comptroller of the 7th Air Force Reserve Personnel Center at Tan Son Nhut AFB, Vietnam. He retired from the Air Force in 1974, from Ellington Field, Texas, where he began his career. He was decorated with many military honors during his Air Force career.
In 1975, he and his wife, Anna Mae, moved to Mobile, Alabama, where he worked for the City of Mobile as an Auditor and resided until 2005, when he moved to San Antonio, Texas. He enjoyed traveling, camping, hiking and was also a collector of military history. He was an active member in the Lutheran Church. Ballroom Dancing became a favorite pastime later in life and he would travel great distances along the Gulf Coast to dance to his favorite bands.
Ernest is survived by his son, Richard Nordquist of Dillon, Montana; his daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Walt Filupeit of Houston, Texas; his sister, Marit Nordquist of East Moline, Illinois; cousins in the US and Sweden; niece, nephews and many dear friends.

Jerry Lee Fewox, age 45, passed away on Wednesday, May 3, 2006. He is preceded in death by his father, George L. Fewox and his brother, George D. Fewox.
Jerry was very well known for his kindness and willingness to help others. He was a beloved father and grandfather who would do anything for his family. He especially loved the outdoors; hunting, fishing and barbequing with his boys.
He is survived by his mother, Gabriela Fewox; sisters, Theresa Fewox Gilley and Barbara Fewox; brothers, Walter Fewox and Chris Fewox; the mother of his children, Deborah Fewox; his sons, Jerry Fewox and fiance, Alexis; and Kevin Fewox; daughters, Kimberly Cantu and husband, Rene; Jennifer Tovar and husband Albert, grandchildren, Jordan Cantu, Joey Cantu, Jaiden Cantu and Dylan Tovar; long-time companion, Janie Hegarty; special friend, Pearl Whittenberg; several nieces and nephews, close family and friends.
Jerry was a special person and will be missed by many.
Audrey Lorraine Ball

Audrey Kolbe Ball, age 82, died Thursday, May 4, 2006 in San Antonio, Texas. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Ida Lou Connelly. Audrey is survived by her husband of 65 years, Capt. James Ball; daughter, Elaine Ball Cain and husband, Archie; son, James Ball, Jr.; grandchildren, Lisa Borden and husband, Jim, Scott Connelly; Janet Hamlin and husband Michael; great grandson, Wesley Hamlin, and devoted poodle Angel. Throughout her husband’s 34 years in the Navy, Audrey traveled to various assignments including Panama, Morocco, Iceland and the Philippines. Audrey was active in Navy Relief, the Naval Officers Wives Club and the Church of Christ. After retirement, they moved to Key West, Florida where they lived for 18 years. For the past 5 years, Audrey and Jim have lived in the Air Force Village I with their dog Angel.
