Faye Irene Perry Muckleroy
Faye Irene Perry Muckleroy, 77, of Nacogdoches, passed away on Wednesday, February 9, 2005.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, February 12, at First Christian Church of Nacogdoches, with the Reverend Terry Hodge officiating.
Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park.
Mrs. Muckleroy was born to the Reverend William Virgil Perry and Maude Estelle Jordan Perry on October 21, 1927, in Sacul, Texas.
She graduated from Nacogdoches High School in 1945.
She was a member of First Christian Church where she directed the youth choir, sang in the adult choir and taught Sunday school.
She was an active member of the Christian Women's Fellowship, the Heritage Club and the Rotary Anns.
She cherished her family and friends and enjoyed her travels with them to interesting parts of the world.
Her sister, Opal Perry Herrington, preceded her in death.
Mrs. Muckleroy married Robert George “Bob” Muckleroy on November 26, 1950, and he survives her.
Also surviving her are her sons, Robert Muckleroy and his wife, Rhonda, of Granbury, Texas, and Steve Muckleroy and his wife, Martha, of Austin, Texas; her daughter, Jill Ornelas and her husband, Julian, of Nacogdoches; her brother, Rex Michael Perry; and her sisters, Glenda Perry Beard and Hope Perry Skipper, all of Nacogdoches; her grandchildren, Robert George Muckleroy, IV and his wife, Georgann, of Fort Worth; Gene Lucas Muckleroy and his wife, Heather, of Seguin; William Scott Muckleroy and Matthew Stephen Muckleroy, both of Austin; and her great-grandson, William Tal Muckleroy.
Pallbearers will be Barry Beard, Perry Skipper, Rex Perry, Ray Perry, Hunter Perry and Sam Medley.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Cason Monk- Metcalf Funeral Home.

Rush “Shirts” Jackson
Funeral for Rush “Shirts” Jackson, 73, of Humble will be at 3 p.m. Saturday in Mount Horeb Baptist Church, San Augustine, with the Rev. Frank Rush officiating. Burial will be in Haley Bush Cemetery, San Augustine.
Jackson died Feb. 7, 2005, in St. Luke Hospital, Houston.
Survivors include sons, LaTerrius Gerrard Jackson and Rush Jackson III, both of Humble, James Jackson, Leonard Jackson Willie Jackson and Rayford L Bailey, all of Houston; daughters, Mary Ann Washington Joyce Ann Smith and Pleshette S. Dunn, all of Houston; stepchildren, Deronda Edwards of Shelbyville, Deidra Williams, Terry Johnson and Raymond Renfro all of Houston; brothers, Artis Jackson of Shelbyville and Edward Redmon of Houston; sisters, Catherine King and Margaret King, both of Shelbyville, Lena Jones of Houston and Dora Lee Jones of Center; 26 grandchildren; and 28 great-great-grandchildren.
A wake will be held 7 until 9 p.m. today.

John Skipper
Graveside service for Mr. John Skipper, age 85, of Nacogdoches will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Sunset Memorial Park with the Rev. Rita Sims officiating.
Mr. Skipper died March 1, 2005, in Nacogdoches.
Born December 11, 1919, in Trinity, he was the son of Amanda Skains and John William Skipper Sr.
He was employed in retail sales for many years and was an active member of Perritte Memorial United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, former county clerk Hope Skipper of Nacogdoches; son and daughter-in-law, Perry and Cheryl Skipper of Nacogdoches; sister, Fanell Lansford of Crockett; granddaughter, Perri Ann Shoemaker, and husband, Clayton, of League City; great-grandchildren, Katie and Ellen Shoemaker, also of League City; and many dear friends.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by brothers, Charlie Skipper, Monroe Skipper and Jessie Skipper; and sisters, Jewell Friday and Reba Jordan.
Pallbearers will be David C. Johnson, Mike Lansford Jr., Ray Perry, Bobby Beard, Robert Muckleroy, Clayton Shoemaker and the Cokesbury Sunday School Class at Perritte Memorial United Methodist Church.

John Lamar Payne
John Lamar Payne, 88, passed away Monday, February 28, 2005, in Nacogdoches, Texas.
Services for Mr. Payne will be held at 10 a.m. today at the Cason Monk-Metcalf Sunset Chapel.
The Reverend Dale Jackson of the Bethel Baptist Church will be officiating.
John Lamar Payne was born September 19, 1916, in Roganville, Texas, to the late John Albert and Gertrude Behanon Payne.
He is a former resident of Nederland, and after 40 years he relocated to Nacogdoches to spend his last one-and-one-half years.
He retired from Texaco in Port Arthur after 36 years of service.
He was a devout Christian and had joined Bethel Baptist Church in Appleby, Texas.
He is preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Russell Payne; and one sister, Artemis Gilbert.
Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Freddie Mae Payne of Nacogdoches, Texas; his son, John Payne and wife, Diane, of Nacogdoches, Texas; his daughter, Becky Denton and husband, Clyde, of Nacogdoches, Texas; his grandchildren, Laura Ameser and husband, Tim, of Birmingham, Michigan, and Grant Payne and wife, Melodie, of Nacogdoches, Texas; and his great-grandchildren, Jon Lamar Payne of Nacogdoches, Texas, Aaron Christopher Sowell of Bryan, Texas, and Amy Ameser of Birmingham, Michigan.
Pallbearers will be Grant Payne, John Payne, Clyde Denton, Phil Anderson, Wayne Boring and Jerome Hale.

Donald Webster Allen
Funeral for Donald Webster Allen will be at 2 p.m. Friday at St. Paul CME Church.
Allen died Feb. 26, 2005.
Survivors include his wife, Eulalia Montgomery Hill Allen, and two sisters.

James Cotton
Funeral for James Cotton, 63, off Dallas will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in County Line Baptist Church, Geneva, with the Rev. R.L. Cotton officiating. Burial will be in County Line Cemetery, Geneva.
Cotton died Feb. 24, 2005, in Parkland Hospital, Dallas.
Born May 16, 1941, in San Augustine, he was the son of Leroy and Learline Singleton Cotton.
Survivors include his wife, Mattie Ree Cotton of San Augustine; daughters, Barbara Cotton Rose of Dallas, Brenda Cotton, Valencia Cotton and Bertha Cotton Lacy, all of San Augustine, Renetta Cotton Jones of Pleasanton, Colo., and Willie Cotton Hall of Grand Prairie; son, Otis Cotton of San Augustine; brothers, James Cotton of Orange, Henry Cotton of Tyler and Billy Cotton of Houston; 23 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 11 until 5 p.m. with a wake from 7 until 8 p.m. at County Line Baptist Church.

John Eddie Harvey
Funeral for John Eddie Harvey, 91, of Huxley will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Watson and Sons Funeral Home Chapel, Center, with the Rev. Gordon Vaughn and the Rev. Lamar Duncan officiating.
Burial will be in Strong Cemetery, Shelby County.
Harvey died March 1, 2005, in Center.
Born March 15, 1913, in Huxley, he was the son of Julian and Nettie Elizabeth Corbell Harvey.
He was a member of Smyrna Missionary Baptist Church. He was married to Edna Jane Cassell Harvey, and she preceded him in death.
Survivors include a daughter, Syble Shoalmire of Converse, La.; sons, Johnnie H. Harvey of Logansport, La., and Rodney Harvey and Thomas Harvey, both of Joaquin; a brother, T.G. Harvey of Pasadena; 12 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. Thursday.
