Ray Campbell was born on August 21, 1924 in Wayland, Kentucky. On August 14, 2005, after a courageous battle with cancer, the Lord took him home to suffer no more at the age of 80.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Ann Taylor Campbell; his daughter, Deborah Rae Campbell Jenke; and his grandson, Andrew Ray Jenke.
Ray was a member of Parkhills Baptist Church. He was a veteran from World War II and served in the 10th Mountain Army Division in Italy. He retired from Southern Pacific Railroad after 39 years of service. He was a member of the Masonic Triune Lodge 15 for 52 years.
He loved playing golf and was an avid square dancer. He was loved and respected by many friends and will be greatly missed.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Mr. Campbell’s memory be made to Parkhills Baptist Church Building Fund or the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 291048, San Antonio, TX 78229-1648.

William A. Krieger

William A. Krieger, 75 native of St. Louis, Missouri, resident of San Antonio for the past 25 years.
Employed until retirement at USAA Insurance. Until his stroke, Bill especially liked to shop and travel. Bill received loving care at Incarnate Word Retirement Center, Extended Care
He was preceded by his parents William Sr. and Zenobia (nee Herr) and brother, Rt. Rev. Msgr. Wilfred Krieger (retired Colonel USAF Chaplain).
William is survived by brother Robert Krieger and wife Norma of Prospect, KY, and nephews Michael, James, Robert and Richard Krieger; 8 great niece and nephews and 1 great-great nephew.

Kathleen K. Trott
Born in Belfast, Ireland on Dec. 6, 1916
Died Aug. 13, 2005 and resided in San Antonio, TX.

Kathleen Moore Trott of San Antonio, TX went to be with the Lord on August 13, 2005 at 88 years of age.
She was born in Belfast, N. Ireland on December 6, 1916 to William and Mary Jane Moore. She was a registered nurse, having attended nursing college in London, England during World War II.
Kathleen met Morgan Trott in Northern Ireland and they later married in Sao Paulo, Brazil in 1947. They moved to San Antonio in 1954, where she was head nurse of Medical Associates at Nix Hospital for many years.
She was Past Worthy Matron of OES Alamo Heights Chapter and was an active member of Los Angeles United Methodist Church.
Kathleen was preceded in death by her husband Morgan Trott in 1981.
She is survived by her son, Michael M. Trott and wife Maribeth of San Antonio; two grandchildren, Nicolas Michael and Melissa Beth Trott of San Antonio; sister, Elsie Varner of Rockwall, TX; numerous nieces and nephews.
Her family wishes to thank the staff of The Madison and AllCare for their help and support.

Lena Augusta Smith, 96, passed away on August 18, 2005 in San Antonio, TX. A member of Parkhills Baptist Church for ten years, she was born in Prattville, Alabama.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James P. Smith. She is survived by a daughter, Jean Crowder of San Antonio, TX; 2 brothers, Milton P. Boone of Bessemer, AL and Joseph Daniel Boone, Jr., of Birmingham, AL; a sister, Myrtle Barron of Fultondale, AL; 2 grandchildren, Deborah Rutherford of San Antonio, TX, and Kenneth Crowder of Rockwall, TX; and 5 great-grandchildren, Jessica, Caitlin, and Elisabeth Crowder, and Joseph and Cassandra Shulter.

Anita Elliott
Born in Laredo, Texas on Apr. 9, 1914
Died Aug. 12, 2005 and resided in Dallas, TX.

Anita Elliott was born April 9, 1914 to Alonzo Edward and Annie Brown Gates in Laredo, Texas. She lived on the family ranch in Eastern Webb County and/or Duval County near Freer before moving to Laredo to attend school. She graduated from Martin High School in 1930, attended Stephen’s college in Columbia, Missouri, Duke University and graduated from the University of Texas in Austin. She taught grade school in Laredo for two years before she married .
Anita Gates wed Donald Sager Elliott September 17, 1938 in Laredo. To this marriage was born three sons: Donald Gates Elliott of Knippa, Albert Sager “Tex” Elliott of Uvalde and Fort Sumner, New Mexico and David Bruce Elliott of Dallas.
preceded in death by her parents, her youngest brother A. W. “Lonnie” Gates and her husband, Don, Mrs. Elliott died peacefully at her home in Dallas in August 12, 2005, surrounded by loved ones.
Mrs. Elliott was an active member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Magna Charta Dames, Colonial Dames and the Daughters of the Republic of Texas. She was especially proud of being an active member in the League of Women Voters in the 1950’s registering people to vote. Public service and education continued throughout her life either privately or through civic organizations.
Mrs. Elliott is survived by her sons, Don, Tex and David; seven grandchildren, Caleb, Jason, Benjamin, Stephen, Jessica, Rebecca and David Elliott; five great-grandchildren, Marshall, Peyton, Sager, Jackson and Mason Ann Elliott; a brother, Albert Gates of Catarina; nieces, nephews, cousins and their families.

Lt. Col. Sherwood S. Hill

Lt. Col. Sherwood S. Hill, USAF (Ret), age 71, of San Antonio, died Friday, August 12, 2005. Lt. Col. Hill was born in Slatington, PA. and graduated from Penn State University in State College, PA.
He was a member of the “Blue Band”. He served in the United States Air Force 27 years, serving as Lab Officers during his 27 year career in the military. He was director of Armed Services processing lab at McGuire AFB, NJ. He was Chief of Transfusion services at Wilford Hall Medical Center. He served in the US Air Force Laboratories in Morocco, Westover AFB, Elmendorf AFB and Sheppard AFB. Lt. Col. Hill was a member of American Association of Blood Banks, National Association of Uniformed Services, Certified technologist by American Society of Clinical Pathologists, and a graduate of the US Military Blood Bank Fellowship, Ft. Knox, Kentucky. He was a member of the Masons.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Stanley and Edna Hill; brother, Terry Hill. Survivors: wife of 47 years, Dorene DeLong Hill; sons, David Hill and his wife, Kristie and Dan Hill and his wife, Maribeth; grandchildren, Heather, Lauren, Katie, Hannah, Grant, Taylor and Kylie Hill; brother, Arlan Hill and his wife, Julia Ann.
Special thanks to the Odyssey Hospice and also the love and support of the staff from the Freedom House at Air Force Village II.

Joe Owen, born November 6, 1924 in Mathis, Texas, went to be with Jesus Christ his Lord and Savior on August 12, 2005.
He was preceded in death by his parents Jesse B. and Sara Margaret (Maggie) Reed, and five brothers, Ray, Loman, Alton, Bob and Leo Owen.
In 1943, Joe married Norma R. Baethge. He served in the U.S. Navy on the USS Eldorado during World War II. After the war, he farmed and ranched with his father in Mathis for several years. For 34 years, Joe was employed by the Southern Farm Bureau Insurance Company, where he was Agency Manager first for Jackson County, then Parmer County, relocating to Bexar County in 1966. He retired in 1989.
Joe and Norma enjoyed traveling and took many trips over the years. Other pastimes included golf, hunting, ranching, spending time at his home in Fredericksburg and being with his family. Joe has left his family a wonderful Christian heritage. He served as a deacon in the Bethany Primitive Baptist Church. Joe loved people and was loved by many, and quickly turned a stranger into a friend.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Norma; two children, Carol Jo Martin and husband W. T. Martin Jr. of Carlsbad, NM and Dr. Courtney Owen and wife Pat of San Antonio, TX; eight grandchildren: Dara Jo Allen and husband Greg, Jennifer Jo Dugan and husband Ken, Lane Martin and wife Brittany, Shelley Miller and husband Jason, Tiffany Stark and husband Ryan, Dr. Chad Owen and wife Jennifer, Luke Owen and Brett Owen; six great grandchildren; one brother, J. B. Owen Jr. of Waco, Texas; one sister, Barbara Jean Sunderman of Sinton, Texas; and many friends and relatives.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bethany Primitive Baptist Church, 13703 Babcock Rd., San Antonio, TX 78249, or to the charity of your choice.
