Helen Sturdevant Penn passed peacefully into the arms of her Lord on August 22, 2005. Helen was born March 11, 1927 to Fred and Maudie Sturdevant of Roanoke, Texas. She graduated from North Texas University in Denton, Texas.
She worked in the US Geological Survey, Paleontology & Stratigraphy in Denver, Colorado and taught school in San Antonio, Texas from 1958 until her retirement in 1987.
She was a member of the Alamo Heights United Methodist Church and its Pilgrim Class.
Helen is survived by her husband of 58 years, Roger T. Penn; son, Randolph L. Penn and wife, Mina and twin grandchildren, Rachel and Robin. She is also survived by brothers, Harold Sturdevant and Robert Sturdevant; sister, Marjorie S. Irick; nephews, Lee Sturdevant, Fred Sturdevant, Dean Sturdevant, J.W. Irick, and Lewis Wayne Sturdevant; and nieces, Nona Kay Sturdevant, Roberta Archuletta, Dava Norris and Wendolyn Yeakley.
She will be missed by her loving family and friends.

Bettye Jean Hill
Born in Lepanto, AR on Mar. 21, 1928

Bettye Jean Weems Hill was born in Lepanto, Arkansas on March 21, 1928; and went to be with her Lord on August 23, 2005.
She was 77 years of age. Her parents were Mary Symantha and Oscar Weems of Lepanto, Arkansas; and they preceded her in death.
After graduating from Lepanto High School, she attended Southwestern University in Memphis, Tennessee for one year; and she attended Abilene Christian College in Abilene, Texas for two years. At Abilene Christian College she was a member of GATA, and she was elected one year as a campus beauty and another as a class favorite.
She later attended Our Lady of the Lake College and Trinity University in San Antonio.
While a student at Abilene Christian College, she was married to Floyd Williams Hill, also a student at Abilene Christian College, on April 29, 1948.
At the time of her death, they had been married for 57 years. She worked as a school secretary and as a language arts teacher during her earlier years of marriage, and in later years she was a homemaker. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.
She was called “Honey” by all of her grandchildren. Her greatest joys in life were being with her family and with her close friends in her church fellowship.
She was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ, and for 21 years she had been a faithful member of the Sunset Ridge Church of Christ in San Antonio. After her mother became a widow and moved from Arkansas to Texas,
Bettye devoted her time to caring for her mother, as she had also helped to care for her husband’s aging parents.
She is survived by her husband, Dr. Floyd Hill and her two sons, Dr. Don Hill and Dr. Tom Hill, all of San Antonio. She is also survived by her daughter-in-law Bethany Hill of San Antonio; her sister Nina Evelyn Seymour of Jensen Beach Florida; and her brother Thomas Luther Weems and his wife Georgia of Punta Gorda, Florida. She is survived also by her granddaughter Heather Cheatham of Keller, Texas and her husband Derek, three great grandchildren: Brooks Hill, Halle Carolyne, and Ellison Elizabeth Cheatham; her granddaughter Robyn Hill of San Antonio; her granddaughters Kara, Caitlin and Samantha Hill of San Antonio; and her brother-in-law, T.C. Hill of Uvalde, Texas and his wife, Mary and her brother-in-law, Jerry Hill of Pleasanton, Texas and his wife, Ann

Maurine Porter
Born in Des Moines, Iowa on May 31, 1920
Died Aug. 22, 2005 and resided in San Antonio, TX.

Maurine S. Porter passed away on Monday, August 22, 2005 at the age of 85. Her death was due to congestive heart failure.
She was born in Des Moines, Iowa on May 31, 1920 and graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School. After moving with her family to San Antonio, Maurine completed 3 years of college at what is now the University of the Incarnate Word and became a registered nurse through a program at Santa Rosa Hospital in downtown San Antonio.
Mrs. Porter was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Joe B. Porter; their son, Kent S. Porter; her parents, James W. and Helen Simpson; and her brothers Grant W. Simpson, Kermit A. Simpson and Stanley R. Simpson. She is survived by two daughters, Anne B. Porter of San Antonio and Cynthia Helen Woods of Bertram, Texas; two granddaughters, Alexandra Grizzard of Austin, Texas and Alyssa M. Woods of Bertram, Texas.
Other survivors include a brother, Warren L. Simpson of Germantown, Tennessee and a sister, Joyann Strain of Des Moines, Iowa. She also leaves numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends. Mrs. Porter has been an active member of the United Methodist Church all of her life and was most recently attending Coker United Methodist Church. She also has served for 34 years as a member of the Bluebird Auxiliary of volunteers at the Methodist Hospital where she was a part of the escort service.
She was a former member of the PEO sisterhood as well. Private burial services will be held by her family at Mission Burial Park North.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that contributions be made to the American Heart Association, the Alzheimer's Association, Coker United Methodist Church, or the charity of choice.

Dorothy Moore

Dorothy Maxine Moore, born February 15, 1927 in Shelburn, Indiana, went to be with the Lord on August 16, 2005 in San Antonio, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her husband John Dee Moore in 1999. She is survived by her daughters Jacquelin Dickey and husband Ed of San Antonio and Allyson Ross and husband Rusty of St. Simon’s Island, Ga. She was especially loved and will be sadly missed by her 7 grandchildren as well as numerous family members.
She is remembered for her faith and cheerful spirit that she freely shared as friend, mother, and wife. “Maxine, ” as she was known to her friends, loved cooking, caring for her home and was a Chicago Cubs fan. Her faith in God was central to her life and she was always a good neighbor in every way to all who knew her.

John “Jack” Francis Kramer passed away on Wednesday, August 24, 2005. He grew up in Woodstock, Illinois where he was born on June 11, 1920.
He enlisted in the Army Air Corp in September 1941 and was stationed at Forster Field, Victoria, Texas. After attending OCS at Fort Knox, Kentucky in 1943, Jack was assigned to Lackland Air Force Base where he met and married Mary Frances Woodard from Luling, Texas.
After military service he attended St. Mary’s University in San Antonio, Texas and upon graduation in 1948 joined the accounting firm of Eaton & Huddle, C.P.A.s which later merged with the international accounting firm now known as KPMG.
Among other positions he served the firm as managing partner of both the San Antonio and Atlanta offices. He served on St. Mary’s University’s Board of Trustees in 1959 and received Distinguished Alumnus award in 1960. He was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church; Member and Past Grand Commander, Bejar Caravan No. 56 Order of Alhambra; member and past President Serra Club of San Antonio; member and past Grand Knight Council 4140 Knights of Columbus; member Knights of Columbus Assembly 2102; member Texas Society of C.P.A.s – past president of local chapter; member American Institute of C.P.A.s.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Frances Kramer; daughter, Mrs. Kathy Pfeiffer and husband Warren; sons, William J. Kramer, and James F. Kramer and spouse Therese; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren, and sister, Rosemary Meyer of Marengo, Illinois.
Honorary pallbearers are Tom Holton, Bob Boerner, Jack Danysh, Maurice Trial, Stan Dydek, Jay DeWitt and Mike Clay.

Michael Cody Raley, 46, was born in San Antonio, Texas, on September 15, 1958. On Tuesday, August 23, 2005, in San Antonio, Mike’s kind and generous heart unexpectedly quit. We will all miss his exuberant energy, enthusiastic smile, and sparkling blue eyes.
He was preceded in death by his father, Claude Raley, and brother, Patrick Raley. He is survived by his mother, Mary Raley, 4 sisters, Marilyn Ozan, Claudia Doncov, Annette Smith, and Suzy Raley; 5 nephews, Elijah Doncov, Dimitri Doncov, Mason Smith, Matthew Woolbright, and Micah Smith; 3 nieces, Melynda Ozan, Liralen Canion, and Celina Doncov; and many good friends.

Rita Mary Setser

Rita Mary Setser, born July 29, 1922 in River Rouge, Michigan, passed away, Tuesday, August 23, 2005.
Rita was a loving, kind and gentle woman of strong faith. Never one to live a dull existence, she endured an emergency landing with 3 small children while flying across the Atlantic in a military transport, delivered her second daughter following a major snow storm in Alaska and patrolled off the coast of China in an ROC naval vessel.
She was preceded in death in 2000 by her husband of 57 years, CMSGT Luster Eugene Setser, USAF Retired.
During their long life together, they raised a family in the U.S., Turkey, Alaska and Taiwan. She was also predeceased by her parents, James Mitchell Trammell and Kathleen Mary Brazill Trammell and brother and sister, Jimmy and Mary.
She is survived by her sons, Michael and wife, Tommie, Patrick and wife, Susie, and Timothy; daughters, Kathleen Setser and Rita Thompson and her husband, Rick;
She had 7 grandchildren, Yvonne Rita, Michael Manuel, Michelle, James, Justin, Daniel and Gregory and, two great grandchildren, Jacob and Jayden.
The family wishes to thank Griswold Special Care, Hallmark Home Care and VITAS Hospice and Dr. Kimberly Heller and Tara and Veronica for the support and loving care provided to Rita.

Richard Limon, age 68, passed away on Wednesday, August 23, 2005 in San Antonio, TX.
He was past President of the Mexican Chamber of Commerce, a member of the Clown Unit for the Alzafar Shrine. Richard achieved the rank of Eagle Scout as a young man.
Richard was preceded in death by his brother, Neff Limon.
He is survived by his wife, Carmen Limon; daughters, Minnie Butler and husband, Glynn, Carmen Cortez and husband, John and Lizette Mann and husband, Butch; grandchildren, Jeff, Craig, Tyler, Matthew, Richard, Daniel, Adriana, Christopher, Elizabeth and Samantha; and brother, Anthony Limon.
