Patricia Yvonne Diekman, age 71, died on May 1, 2005 in San Antonio, Texas.
She was born in Shreveport. Louisiana. She was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband John D. Diekman in 1999. She is survived by her sons, William E. Diekman and wife Sandra of Louisville, Colorado and John D. Diekman and wife Bettina of Fort Worth, Texas; granddaughter, Tanya Diekman; step-grandson, Joshua Schultz; and step-granddaughter, Jennifer Schultz.

Colonel Frederick H. Mitchell, USA (Ret.), beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend passed away Monday, May 2, 2005 in Garden Ridge, TX.
Fred was born November 28, 1932 in Omaha, NE to Col. Eugene H. and Bernice E. Mitchell. Fred was a 1949 graduate of Galveston Ball High School. After graduation, he attended Texas A&M; University where he was the Corps Commander. Upon graduation in 1954, he received a commission as an Infantry Officer in the United States Army.
He received his Master’s Degree in Public Administration from Shippensburg State College in 1974.
Fred served 26 years in the Army retiring as a Colonel in 1980. While in the Army, Fred served 2 combat tours in Vietnam, where he was awarded the Silver Star for gallantry in action and the Distinguished Flying Cross for heroism in aerial flight.
He was also a recipient of the Combat Infantryman’s Badge, Master Parachutist’s Badge, Legion of Merit with 2 OLC, among numerous other recognitions such as the Pathfinder’s Badge, Army Commendation Medal with 2 OLC, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Air Medal with 6 OLC and the Meritorious Service Medal.
During his career in the Army, he graduated from both the Army War College and the NATO Defense College as well as serving with the Joints Chiefs of Staff.
Subsequent to his retirement from the Army, Fred was Vice-President of Marketing for Elamex, S.A. in El Paso, TX. In 1996, he retired to Garden Ridge.
Fred is survived by his wife, Maureen Patricia Mitchell; daughter, Elizabeth Ann Mitchell Jones and son-in-law, James C. Jones, of Neenah, WI; son, John Eugene Mitchell and daughter-in-law, Paula K. Mitchell of Plano, TX; sister, Doris D. Berry and brother-in-law, Kenneth Norman Berry of Louisville, KY; grandchildren, Jimmy and Clayton Jones and Caroline and Thomas Mitchell; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Pallbearers are Stanton Bell, Dixon O. Brown, Fred C. Olds, William E. Dark, Carter Hemphill, M.D., E. Kyle Gruene, Jr. and Lt. Gen. Richard G. Graves.

Our beautiful loving Mother, Eula Frances Bush Chance, died on Tuesday, May 3, 2005, at the age of 86.
She graced this world with her love, kindness and generosity to the Lord, her family and friends. She was born in Houston, Texas, on December 4, 1918, to Loma Hill Bush and George T. Bush.
Eula Frances was a member of Highland Terrace United Methodist Church since 1953 where she was a Children’s Division Superintendent for 5 years, taught Bible school and served in various capacities. Her PTA experience extended for 36 years.
She was a Brownie and Girl Scout leader. She was employed at Emerson Middle School for 20 years before retirement.
Frances did an Emmaus Walk later in life that profoundly changed her spiritual journey with the Lord.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Oscar D. Chance and her son, Billy Mitchell Chance.
She is survived by her daughters, Loma and Bill Hobson, Cat Spring, TX, Molly and David Bailey, San Antonio, TX and Frances Chance and Gil Deininger, Arlington, TX; grandchildren, Kellie M. Mrs. Betty Jorgensen, age 84, of San Antonio, died Wednesday, May 4, 2005 at the Health Care Center at Air Force Village II.
She was born in Chicago, Illinois and early in her marriage she became a part of the military family and was active in that family for over 17 years.
After the military, she was a long time employee of the North American Rockwell Corporation. Betty and her husband then decided to join many of their military friends from around the country and live at then Air Force Village II in San Antonio where she enjoyed traveling and volunteering.
She became a liason to the Officer’s Wives Club nationwide and was a volunteer at Wilfred Hall Hospital and the Village Health Care Center.
Betty was pre-deceased by her husband of 55 years, retired Lt.Col. Paul F. Jorgensen.
Survivors include her daughter, Barbara Kisslan (John), four grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Edith Violet Rumore age 88 of San Antonio, died Saturday, April 30, 2005.
She was born on March 31, 1917 in Chicago, IL to John and Elizabeth Chambers. She had one brother, Jack Chambers; and two sisters, Lucille Peterson and Gladys Wiebe.
She married
Thomas Ingram in Chicago in 1934 and had one son, Robert Thomas Ingram. They divorced in 1941. She then moved to Miami, FL in 1942 and married
Frank Rumore, and lived in Florida until 2004 at which time, she moved to San Antonio to be near her son’s family.
Edie was a very talented hairdresser and made friends easily. She loved working, and worked up until she was 84 years old. She only retired then because she hurt her back and couldn’t stand for as long as her profession required.
She was preceded in death by both parents, both husbands, her only brother, and one granddaughter, Lorrie Lynne Ingram.
She left her only child, son, Robert (Bob) Ingram and daughter-in-law, Sharon (Sherry) and their family. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Larry Ingram, Jim Ingram (Nanette), Charles Ingram (Rebecca), Lisa Tetreault (Bruce), Lea Love (Mike), and Sherry Adams; her great grandchildren, David and Sarah Ingram, Jamie, Jolene, Jennifer and Julia Ingram, Christopher, Briana and Alicia Ingram, Katy and Whitney Leininger, Sean and Shanna Rodriguez, Robbie and Raeana Martinez, Joshua and Hannah Tetreault, George and Corina Love, Travis, Michael and Lauren Head, and 5 great-great grandchildren as well as her two sisters of FL and two nephews and three nieces.

Raymond Harvey Armstrong weighed anchor for his final voyage at 1830, Saturday, 30 April 2005 with fair skies and a fine breeze.
Born 14 March 1913, in Palestine, Texas, to Samuel Thomas Armstrong and Sarah Mildred Reed, Ray moved with his parents in 1921 to San Antonio, Texas. He graduated from Brackenridge High School in 1931 and from St. Mary's University in 1935. From there, Ray joined the firm of Southern Engraving in Houston, Texas as Sales Manager.
Raymond married
the late Martha Evelyn Hill of San Antonio, Texas, 14 Feb 1939.
With the outbreak of WWII, Ray was commissioned as a Lieutenant, senior grade, in the USNR and served as a gunnery officer in the Pacific Theater from November 1943 to January 1946.
Upon return to civilian life, he resumed his post with Southern Engraving. He returned to San Antonio with his family in the summer of 1951 to open a branch of the business known as Texas Invitation Company and subsequently, as Southern Pabst Engraving until its sale in 1975.
Not only a highly successful small businessman, he was also an avid cattleman. Possessed of a keen instinct for genetics and sharp eye for breed conformation, he developed a fine herd of registered Herefords. Ray's love of cattle and ranching led to his involvement as a Director then Director Emeritus of the San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo.
After retirement from the business community, Ray continued ranching actively until 1998. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, San Antonio Executives Club, the American Hereford Association and the San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo.
He is preceded in death by his daughters, Anna Bernard Armstrong and Ella Reed Armstrong Brewer, both of San Antonio, and by his loving wife, Martha Evelyn Hill Armstrong, also of San Antonio.
He is survived by his daughter, Anna Catherine Armstrong, MD of Houston and his grandson, William Louis Brewer II of Dallas and by numerous nieces and nephews. Ray embodied the qualities of that "greatest generation." His drive and exemplary integrity in personal and professional life is but a part of the legacy of influence he leaves. Best of all, his determined faith in Our Lord earned him the affectionate title from his late wife of "the steady main mast of our family's ship." Peaceful voyage, Raymond H. Armstrong, to that haven of rest.

John Sidney Cunningham

J. Sid Cunningham, age 85, passed away Saturday, April 30, 2005. He is survived by his loving wife, Jane; and three sons, Sidney of Houston; Fred M. of San Antonio; and William C. of Houston; and a host of friends.
Sid graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in Dallas, TX; attended Texas Christian University and was a World War II Air Corps veteran.
As an early member of St. Andrew’s Methodist Church, he served several years on the Board responsible for it’s insurance program.
As President of the Alamo Division of the Texas Insurance Fieldman’s Association, his introduction to the insurance business was working in his father’s local insurance agency in Dallas during his summer school vacations.
Sid’s life long career began in 1939, working in the Texas Insurance Checking Office in Austin.
After the war, he moved to Dallas to work for the T. A. Manning General Agency and returned to Austin to work in the Property Rating Section of the State Board of Insurance.
In 1947, he was hired by American General Insurance Company of Houston and began a career of traveling the southwest Texas territory as a marketing representative, calling on local insurance agents in soliciting new business and recruiting agents to represent the company.
In 1965, in an expansion of the company, American General became a corporation and merged with Maryland Casualty Company, an old, respected nationwide firm.
The highlight of Sid’s career was in 1976 when he was recognized with the Maryland’s Annual “Marketing Representative of the Year” Award.
He retired from American General in 1985 on a Friday, and the following Monday became Manager for the Elton George General Agency where his territory ranged from San Antonio to Corpus Christi.
In 1990, he was appointed Vice-President-in-Charge of four automobile insurance agencies which were owned by Elton George.
Sid retired from the insurance business after sixty-five years of service.
Adele Cherry Carnahan

Adele Cherry Carnahan was born December 1, 1915 in Dierks, Arkansas to parents Jesse and Clellie Mae Cherry.
She graduated as a registered nurse from St. Joseph’s Hospital, Hot Springs, Arkansas in 1938.
She entered the United States Army as a Second Lieutenant in August of 1939, and completed her training as a nurse anesthetist at the Army and Navy General Hospital at Fort Sill, Oklahoma.
She achieved the rank of First Lieutenant and met and married
Captain Richard Henry Carnahan, D.D.S.
Adele and Dick began their 65-year relationship as husband and wife November 29, 1940.
The Carnahan’s stations included Carlysle Barracks, Pennsylvania and Mitchell Field, New York.
Dick was deployed to London as a Major in the Army Dental Corp. Adele, expecting their first child, moved to Dick’s home in San Antonio.
When Dick returned to San Antonio in 1945, he left the Army as Lieutenant Colonel and established his private practice of dentistry, always with the support of his beloved Adele.
Soon their son Richard Jr., was joined by two sisters Susan and Peggy. Mom was ever an active and loving presence in their lives.
Continually a proponent of education, Adele became licensed in Texas as a Registered Nurse in 1958 and began over a thirty-year tenure with the San Antonio Independent School District which included duties as: school nurse, classroom teacher and junior high school counselor.
During her teaching career, she received her Master of Psychology in 1968 from Trinity University and Master of Education from Our Lady of the Lake University in 1972.
In 1984, she became a Licensed Professional Counselor.
She was awarded the Outstanding Achievement Award as School Counselor from the SAISD.
The Carnahan’s were a founding family of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church where Adele served with the Altar Guild, Stephen’s Ministry and as a Lay Reader.
She served as president of the San Antonio Dental Auxiliary of which she was a member for six decades.
She enjoyed her association with the San Antonio Assistance League, her membership in a garden club that did not garden and a sewing club that had ceased to sew.
Adele is survived by her loving husband, Richard Carnahan, D.D.S.; children, Richard “Corky” Carnahan, D.D.S., Susan Cherry Hawthorne of Dallas and Peggy Taylor of Little Rock; her grandchildren, Carey, Colleen and Richard Carnahan, III; Elizabeth and Megan Hawthorne; Gretchen Wietstruck and Maggie Hawthorne; her great grandchildren are twins Abigail and Madeline and their brother, Ian Wietstruck.
