Ann Waide Weatherston
Born in Birmingham, AL on Oct. 10, 1932
Died Jun. 17, 2003 and resided in San Antonio, TX.
Service: No Service
Funeral Home: Porter Loring Mortuary
Ann Waide Weatherston, 70, of San Antonio died June 17, 2003 following a brief illness. Ann was born October 8, 1932 in Birmingham, Alabama. As a small child Ann moved with her family to San Antonio, Texas where she attended and graduated from the Alamo Heights schools. She then attended and graduated from Hockaday School for Girls in Dallas. On June 16, 1951 she married
George Weatherston. They spent the next 52 years and 1 day as loving partners and parents. They lived in Alamo Heights until 1953 when they moved their young family to the Bonita ranch near Pleasanton, Texas. Ann and George raised their children on the ranch, moving back to Alamo Heights after their youngest child graduated from high school. It was while residing in Pleasanton that Ann founded the All Saints Episcopal Day School. Involvement with the program stirred a lifelong love of knowledge, books, and reading in Ann. Nothing gave her greater pleasure than not only witnessing, but being a part of a young child’s first adventures in reading. This favorite pastime grew into a passion as Ann attended Our Lady of the Lake University and graduated with a degree in Elementary Education. She taught for many years in the Pleasanton School District, and later in the Judson School District. After retiring from the classroom Ann worked with an educational testing company in San Antonio. Ann’s nine grandchildren laugh that they were “MawMaw’s guinea pigs”. If there was a new teaching method or form of testing, she liked to “try it out” on the younger children at home. Of course they were always assured that they performed at levels far superior to any she saw in the classroom. Her parents, John and Doris Lindsay Waide, and her mother-in-law Ruth Warfield Weatherston preceded Mrs. Weatherston in death. Ann is survived by; her husband George Weatherston, children Doug Weatherston of San Antonio, Johnny and Lindsay Weatherston Marvin of San Antonio, Mark and Phyllis Weatherston of Charlotte, Butch and Peggy Sue Weatherston Klein of San Antonio, Nicholas and Janet Weatherston of San Antonio, and father-in-law Douglas Weatherston of San Antonio. Her nine grandchildren; Gary Marvin, Shannon Marvin Brown, Ryan Weatherston, Carolyn Weatherston, Joshua Weaver, Marci Weaver, Emily Weaver, Landry Weatherston, and Mallory Weatherston also survive Ann. Ann spent her final evening surrounded by close friends and members of her family as she was peacefully ministered to in music and prayer. Always robust in spirit her final request was, “Play me something peppy!” The fiddle broke into “I Saw the Light”. The final tune of the evening was the old gospel standard “What a Day That Will Be” (when my Jesus I shall see!). A private Memorial Service was held at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in San Antonio. The Weatherston family extends special thanks to Dr. Ralph Wells, Dr. Carlos Orozco, and the entire staff of Nix Memorial Hospital. Memorials to the charity of your choice are requested in lieu of other remembrances. Arrangements with
