Dr. and Mrs. Howard G. (Jean Key) Olive of Maryville celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a family Disney Cruise to the Caribbean.
The couple were married
June 5, 1954 at First Baptist Church, Nashville.
Their family includes children Lynn Mayes of Calera, Ala., John Olive of Tullahoma, David Olive of Concord, N.C., Allison Townsend of Augusta, Ga., and Angela Johnson of Birmingham. They have 11 grandchildren.
Dr. Olive is retired pastor of Monte Vista Baptist Church. Mrs. Olive is retired owner/manager of The Gathering Christian Book Store.
Grover E. and Pauline (Hurst) Crowe of Maryville, formerly of Knox County, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary today. A reception in their honor will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Glenwood Baptist Church. All family and friends are invited to attend.
Mr. and Mrs. Donald (Donna Sue Carter) Card of Maryville will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary Friday.
The couple were married
May 21, 1954 at First Presbyterian Church in Wyandotte, Mich. The Rev. Dr. Robert Hall, who also performed the wedding ceremony for Mrs. Card's parents, officiated.
Their family includes children Gregory K. Card of Madison, Conn., Lance J. Card of Appleton, Wis., and Ondrea M. McAulay of Indianapolis. They have six grandchildren.
Mr. Card is retired from Blackmer Pump Co., Grand Rapids, Mich. Mrs. Card is also retired.
They are members of First Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Mr. Card is senior warden, Church of the Transfiguration, Bois Blanc Island, Mich. Mrs. Card is president of Bois Blanc Island Historical Museum.
The children of the Cards will host a family reunion in June on Bois Blanc Island in the Straits of Mackinaw, Mich. They will also be celebrating the 70th birthdays of both parents, which are June 21 and 23.
A commemorative church service will be held at 11 a.m. June 25 at the Church of the Transfiguration, conducted by the Card's son-in-law, the Rev. Robert McAulay. A reception will immediately follow in the Hoover Community Hall.
Vern and Mildred (Murphy) Best of Maryville will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary May 16.
The couple were married
May 16, 1944 in Leesville, La. The Rev. Alton A. McNight officiated.
Their family includes children and their spouses Isaac Best of Maryville, Avice and Stephen Reed of Maryville, LaVern and Jerry Sellers of Townsend, Cindy and Larry Morton, Kathy and Eddie White, and Steve Best, all of Maryville. They have 11 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Mr. Best is retired from ALCOA Inc. Mrs. Best is a homemaker.
Jim and Phyllis (Hicks) Borden of Maryville will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with an open house/buffet at their home from 1 to 7 p.m. Sunday, May 30. Friends and relatives are invited to attend.
The couple request no gifts.

June 1, 1954 at First United Methodist Church, Maryville. Dr. Marshal Gamble officiated.
Their family includes son David Borden and his wife Vicki, and daughter Beth McDaniel and her husband Rick, all of Maryville. They have four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Mr. Borden is owner of Jim Borden Allstate Insurance. Mrs. Borden is a registered nurse at Blount Memorial Hospital in the Coronary Care Unit.
They both enjoy activities with their grandchildren, travel, camping, gardening and reading. Mr. Borden enjoys collecting antique tractors.
