Mr. and Mrs. James H. (Lena Ruth Brackin) Simerly of Maryville celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a family dinner at the Open Hearth Restaurant in Gatlinburg.
The couple were married
Aug. 28, 1955, in Walland. The Rev. J.L. Helton officiated.
Their family includes children Terry B. Simerly of Knoxville and Scott H. Simerly of Apex, N.C. They have four grandchildren.
Mr. Simerly is a retired pharmacist. Mrs. Simerly is a retired registered nurse.
They are members of First Baptist Church, Maryville.
Mr. and Mrs. Willis (Will and Betty) Ludwig of Friendsville celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Sept. 3 with a reception for family and friends at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Maryville.
The couple were married
Sept. 3, 1955, in Atlanta while Mr. Ludwig was attending Georgia Tech.
Their family includes four daughters, Nena DeArment of El Paso, Texas, Tamara Fiacco of Acworth, Ga., Phella Patterson of Birmingham and Kari Duggan of Alcoa. They have 13 grandchildren.
Mr. Ludwig is retired from ALCOA Inc. and Mrs. Ludwig has been a homemaker.
The Rev. Alvin and Bessie (Cline) Patton will celebrate their 68th wedding anniversary by having dinner with their children and grandchildren Friday.
The couple were married
March 24, 1938, in the Mt. Pleasant Community of Monroe County. The Rev. William Riley Williams officiated.
Their family includes children Richard and wife Patricia Patton of Ball Play, Bernice and husband V.J. Long of Maryville, Calvin Patton and fiancee Henrietta of Maryville, Linda and husband Ed Griffing of Maryville, and the late Harold, Luella and Olbin Patton. They have five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
The Rev. Patton is a retired minister. Mrs. Patton is a homemaker.
They are members of Liberty Baptist Church.
Arthur (``Ott," ``Big Moe") and Anna Mae (Finger Cardwell) Baker of Miser Station will celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary with a reception from 3 to 6 p.m. Saturday at the Visitor Welcome Center Fellowship Hall, First Baptist Church, Friendsville. Friends and relatives are invited to attend.

Their family includes Mr. Baker's children Sonja and Ted Campbell of Seymour, Gail and Lester Shope of Thomasville, Ga., Donna Parton of Gatlinburg, Vickie McDowell of Gatlinburg and Kay Baker of Joanna, S.C., and Mrs. Baker's children Gary and Barbara Cardwell of Niskayuna, N.Y., Dick and Pat Cardwell of Swanton, Ohio, Mary and Gale Hamilton of Monroe, Mich., and Jim Cardwell of Miser Station. They have 12 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Mr. Baker is retired from ALCOA Inc. Mrs. Baker is retired from Bank of Maryville.
They are members of First Baptist Church, Friendsville, Miser Station Community Club and the Wellness Center Exercise Group at Blount Memorial Hospital. They enjoy reading and music.
John R. (Bob) and Charlene (Roper) Brown of Maryville will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary March 16. Their children and grandchildren treated them to a weekend in Townsend to celebrate.
The couple met while attending Berry College in Rome, Ga., and were married
March 16, 1956, at her home in the East Armuchee Community of LaFayette, Ga. The Rev. W.E. Roberts officiated.
Their family includes children Pam and Ricky Davis, Ken and Kim Brown, Barbara and Tony Houk and the late Olyra Mae. Their grandchildren are Grant and Jennifer Davis, Sarah Brown and Hope Houk.
Mr. Brown is retired from John Deere & Co. and works as a golf ranger at Lambert Acres Golf Course. Mrs. Brown is financial secretary/pianist at Monte Vista Baptist Church, where the couple have been members since 1968.
They love to travel and have recently returned from a Gaither Cruise to the Caribbean.
