Christine Bell Belcher, 64, of Ashland City, passed away on Friday, April 25, 2003, at Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville. She was born Feb. 25, 1939, in Kingston Springs.
Funeral services were held on Sunday, April 27, 2003, at 2 p.m. from the chapel of Cheatham County Funeral Home with Brother Jim Rich officiating. Burial followed in Forest Hills cemetery in Ashland City. Pallbearers were Mike Williams, John Henry Pursley Jr., Donny Lenning. Orvel Belcher Jr. George Connors and Donny Williams.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Dewey and Rosie White and her husband Orvel Belcher.
She is survived by sons, Orvel Belcher Jr. of Illinois and his wife, Donna Belcher; Donald and Sandy Belcher of Ashland City; Gary and Vickie Belcher of Ashland City; Johnny and Beth Belcher of Ashland City; daughters Nancy (Mike) Butler of Lyles and Rhonda (David) Wagner of Clarksville; sisters Barbara Williams of Chapmansboro, Betty Potee of Ashland City and Judy Bowman of Ashland City; brothers Ed White of Ashland City, Jimmy White of Chapmansboro, Gene White of Chapmansboro, 15 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.

Willard Ethridge Dickens
Willard Ethridge Dickens, 87, of Chapmansboro, passed away at the home of his daughter, Sunday, April 27, 2003.He was born Nov. 27, 1915, in Robertson County, the son of the late Arch Franklin and Mary Derseweh Dickens. He was a retired building inspector for Metro. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran.
He was preceded in death by his wives, Esther Dickens and Ann Dickens; sons Paul Dickens and Patrick Dickens.
He is survived by daughter, Peggy (Edward) Lewis of Chapmansboro and son, Phillip (Lynnie) Dickens of Lauderdale, Miss.
His remains rest at Anderson and Garrett Funeral Home, Joelton, where visitation was held with the family on Tuesday from 10 a.m.-9 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 30, 2003, at the First Baptist Church of Joelton with Bro. David Royalty officiating. He will lie in state one hour prior to service time Wednesday at the church. Honorary pallbearers: Senior Adult Men's Sunday School Class of First Baptist Church of Joelton; active pallbearers: Don Dickens, Kenny Norman, Homer Hunley, Ronnie Smiley, Dewlyn Binkley, Wayne Lewis, Eddie Lewis, Chris Lewis. Burial will be in Joelton Hills Memory Garden, Joelton.

Alvin J. Kinary III of Coalmont, 34, died Saturday, April 26, in Nashville.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 30 at 11 a.m. at the Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Don Layne officiating.
He was preceded in death by his wife: Tracie Lea Kinary; grandparents: Herman and Delores Simer, Alvin J. and Doris Kinary.
He is survived by his son: A.J. Sadie Florence Nichols, 90, died Saturday, April 26, 2003, at Centennial Medical Center in Nashville.
Funeral services were held Monday, April 28, 2003, at 2 p.m. at Boyd Funeral Home with Bro. George Clark officiating. Burial was in the Good Springs cemetery in Pleasant View.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Lillie Williams and her husband James Edward Nichols Sr.
She is survived by her son, Albert Nichols of Ashland City; daughter, Alma Felts of Pleasant View; brothers, John (Frankie) Williams of Ashland City, Bill (Pauline) Williams of Joelton, and George Williams of Nashville; eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Ashley Lynn Yates passed away on Friday, April 25, 2003, at Vanderbilt Hospital. She worked at the Davidson County Sheriff's Office. She was of Baptist faith.
Funeral services were held Monday, April 28, 2003, at 2 p.m. from the chapel of Cheatham County Funeral Home, Ashland City, with Bro. Tommy Reels and Bro. Robert Hall officiating. Burial was in Bethlehem cemetery, Ashland City. Pallbearers were the ROTC cadets from the Whites Creek High School. In lieu of flowers the family requested donations in her memory to the Ashley Lynn Yates Memorial Fund for a plaque for the new Vanderbilt Children's Hospital
She is survived by here parents, Allen and Rhonda Yates of Greenbrier; a brother Simon Christian Yates of Greenbrier; her fiancee Michael Singer of Nashville; maternal grandparents Loyd and Jean Spadlin of Nashville, Charles and Sharon Yates of Nashville; several aunts and uncles and a host of friends.

George Edward Matthews
George Edward "Boy" "Kitty" Matthews, 68, Cottontown, passed away Sunday, April 20, 2003, at the Beverly Healthcare, Springfield. Born Oct. 17, 1934, in Joelton, the son of the late George Eldridge and Susie Chester Matthews, he was a mechanic for MTA. He was a U.S. Navy veteran.
Remains are at Anderson and Garrett Funeral Home, Joelton, where the service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 23, 2003, with Ray Biggs, Bro. Mike Shrum officiating. Nephews will serve as pallbearers. Burial will be at New Hope cemetery.
He is survived by wife, Mary Dickens Matthews; daughter, Yvonne Matthews (Randy) Harris; son, Kenneth (Karen) Matthews; grandchildren, Tanya Harris, Clay Harris, Wesley Matthews, Joshua Matthews; brother, Jimmy Matthews.

Jeffery Clinton White, 35, died April 18, 2003.
He is survived by wife, Tonya White; daughter, Ashley Nicole White; son, Brent Veal; parents, Kenneth and Martha Rooney; sisters, Monte Hendrickson, LaRona White; brother, Shaun White; grandmother, Alice White; nieces, Brittany and Brandy Gulder, Chasity Nuesome, Veronica Kaiser and nephew, Harmony Hendrickson.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 22, 2003, at West Harpeth Chapel. Interment
was at Bluff View Memorial cemetery. Active pallbearers were Shaun White and the Bondslaves, MC.

Virginia Arlee Bowen, 87, died Friday, April 04, 2003, at Ridge Top Haven in Ridgetop.
Funeral services were held Sunday, April 6, 2003, at 3 p.m. at Boyd Funeral Home. Bro. Terry Exley officiated. Burial was in the Bethlehem cemetery in Ashland City. Active Pallbearers were Teddy Gupton, David Gupton, Johnny Jeanette, Jimmy Leamons, J.T. Brown and Bill Stinnett. Honorary Pallbearers were Members of the Fidelis Class of the First Baptist Church and the Ashland City Wal-Mart employees.
Bowen was preceded in death by her husband, William Roy Bowen; son-in-law Billy Gupton; grandson, Kerry Gupton and her parents, Charlie and Gertrude Sanders.
Bowen is survived by her daughter, Linda Gupton of Hendersonville; grandson Michael Gupton; granddaughter, Sherrie Gupton and great-granddaughter, Nakeea Gupton.

Nannie Earline Biggs, 63, Joelton, passed away at her home, Monday, March 31, 2003. She was born Nov. 14, 1939 in Red Boiling Springs, the daughter of James Henry and Sallie Le Sebers Stacey. She was a homemaker.
Funeral service was held at Anderson and Garrett Funeral Home, Joelton, at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 3, 2003, with Bro. Horace Rise and Bro. James Allen officiating. Burial was in the Mt. Pleasant cemetery, Ashland City.
She is survived by husband, Billy R. Biggs, Sr. of Joelton; sons, Marty Boles, White County, James Boles of Jackson County, Billy Joe Biggs of Joelton, Billy Ray Biggs, Jr. of Joelton, 14 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, three brothers, six sisters.

William Jacob Gannon, 67, Joelton, passed away at his home, Tuesday, April 1, 2003. He was born Feb. 6, 1936 in Dawson, Texas, the son of the late Harvey Andrew and Mettie Rigsby Gannon. He was the retired owner and operator of the Music City Dental Lab.
He is survived by wife, Betty Jean Lane Gannon of Joelton; daughter, Sheila Gannon of Joelton; sons, Monte (Angela) Gannon of Ashland City, Shane (Myra) Gannon of Waverly; grandchildren, Michelle and Derek Gannon; sister, Melba White of Florida.
Service was held at Anderson and Garrett Funeral Home, Joelton, Friday, April 4, 2003, with Bro. Cecil Boswell officiating. Burial was at Joelton Hills Memory Garden, Joelton.

Willie Lee Groves
Willie Lee (Perry) Groves, 92, passed away on Monday, March 31, 2003.She is retired as Director of Cheatham County School Lunch Programs, and organized and retired as Director of Ashland City Senior Citizens Center. Groves was the first woman elected to Ashland City Council and Past Worthy Matron of Eastern Star.
She was preceded in death by husband, Ewing Garner Groves and great-granddaughter, Kristen Groves.
She is survived by her son, Lewis Groves (Hazel); daughters Dot Heath (Don) and Sadie Lawrence (Hilary Jr.); grandsons, Robert Groves (Pauletta) and Eddie Lawrence (Susan); granddaughters, Trish Hunter (Phillip), Terrie Lawrence, and Gerry Householder (Mark); along with two great-grandsons, five great-granddaughters, one great-great-grandson, and sister-in-law, Fannie Mae Ross.
Pallbearers will be Michael Groves, Larry Groves, Randy Ross, Shaun Parris, Hadley Williams, Jr., Rodd Hunter and Chris Baldwin. Honorary Pallbearers will be Dr. James and Jancie Baldwin, Coach Ralph Spangler, Neil Robertson and Nancy Tilghman. Visitation with the family was held on Tuesday, April 1, 2003, from 2-9 p.m. and service was held Wednesday, April 2, at 10 a.m. Brother Bob Mowrey officiated the service. Burial followed at Bethlehem cemetery in Ashland City. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Ashland city Senior Citizens Center.
