Tennessee, U.S., Delayed Birth Records, 1869-1909
William G. (Buddy) Brown
William G. (Buddy) Brown, 75, of Sparta, passed away Aug. 6, 2002, at Cumberland Medical Center.
Brown was born May 19, 1927, in Cumberland County, to Oca Brown and Cordie Catron Brown.
He served in the U.S. Army 1st Cavalry during the Korean Conflict. Brown has been employed in the maintenance at Wagner Electric.
Survivors include three sisters, Mabel Lewis of Sparta and Edna Burtrum and Dorothy Lewis both of Crossville; one brother, Wayne Brown of Crossville; and several nieces and nephews.
Arrangements: Services will be held at 1 p.m., Aug. 9, 2002, at Ridgedale Free Will Baptist Church with burial in Taylor's Chapel cemetery. Bro. Gary Lewis will officiate.
Thurman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Anna Margaret Scott Ogletree
Anna Margaret Scott Ogletree, 70, of Cookeville, passed away June 3, 2002.
Ogletree was born in Putnam County to Hiram P. and Sara Dunn Chaffin.
She was of the Baptist denomination.
Ogletree was a nurse's aid.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Haul Scott; one brother, Horace Chaffin; and one son-in-law, Flix Chappellet.
Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Roy and Lisa Scott of Baxter; two daughters and one son-in-law, Joy Scott Chappellet and Teresa and Mike Johnson of Walling; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Hubert and Shirley Chaffin of Baxter and Howard and Nancy Chaffin of Valdez, Alaska; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Reba and Clinton Pierce of Baxter and Louise and Bob McKenzie of Grantsville, Md.; eight grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren.
Arrangements: Services will be held at w p.m., June 6, 2002, at the chapel of Dyer Funeral Home with burial in Double Springs cemetery. Bro. John Murphy will officiate.
Dyer Funeral Home in Cookeville is in charge of arrangements.

Timothy J. Brady
Timothy J. Brady, 82, of Sparta, passed away June 3, 2002, at Life Care Center of Sparta.
Brady was born Oct. 4, 1919, in White County, to Timothy and Effie Beam Brady.
He was retired from Chrysler Automotive.
Brady was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife, Thelma Brady of Sparta; two step sons and their spouses, David and Dianne McClendon of Cleveland and Jerry and Terrye McClendon of Soddy Daisy; two step daughters and their spouses, Ruth and John Llewellyn of Rossville, Ga. and Donetta and Tommy Harris of Ringgold, Ga.; 17 grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren.
Arrangements: Services will be held at 11 a.m., June 6, 2002, at Hunter Funeral Home with burial in Old New Hope cemetery. Fate Wilson, Tommy Lee Davis and Michael Brady will officiate.
Hunter Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Margie Lucille Nabors
Margie Lucille Nabors, 86, of Baxter, passed away June 3, 2002, at NHC Healthcare.
Nabors was born Nov. 30, 1916, in White County, to William Andrew and Eula Farley McCulley.
She was a homemaker.
Nabors was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; three sisters, Rowena Bray, Cova Graham and Ida Bell McCulley; and four brothers, Benton, Harvey, Clifford and Loyd McCulley.
Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, James David and Bobbi Nabors of Cookeville; two daughters and sons-in-law, Bonnie and Gerald Tinch of Cookeville and Maureen and Wayne Upchurch of Baxter; one sister and brother-in-law, Enzena and Houston Mullins of Sparta; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Lee and Mary McCulley of Sparta, Wilford and Ruth McCulley of St. Clair Shores, Mich. and Horace and Ann McCulley of South Bend, Ind.; two sisters-in-law, Ova McCulley of Cookeville and Nina McCulley of Kokomo, Ind.; six grandsons, Chris Nabors of Nashville, Wesley Nabors, Matt Nabors, Andy Nabors and DeWayne Tinch all of Cookeville and Jason Mott of Burbank, Calif.; one step grandson, Chester Upchurch of Cookeville; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Arrangements: Services were held at 1 p.m., June 4, 2002, at Whitson Funeral Home with burial in Gentry cemetery in Putnam County. Bro. Johnnie E. Lee and Bro. Chris Sparkman officiated.
Whitson Funeral Home in Cookeville was in charge of arrangements.

Robert H. Officer
Robert H. Officer, 75, of Detroit, Mich., formerly of Sparta, passed away Aug. 21, 2007.
Officer was born Jan. 2, 1932, to William E. Officer and Maude Officer.
He had been employed at Chrysler Manufacturing and Stouffers.
Officer was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include one sister-in-law, Marion Officer; one cousin, Winston Officer; niece, Karen Officer, all of Chattanooga; one nephew, William F. Irwin, of Sparta; and friend, Jonelda Gardenhire Magee.
Arrangements: Graveside services were 2 p.m., Oct. 6, 2007, at Lee cemetery. Eva Mudambanuki officiated.

Annette S. Parrish
Annette S. Parrish, 41, of Sparta, passed away Oct. 5, 2007.
Parrish was born March 30, 1966.
Arrangements: Funeral arrangements were incomplete at press time.

Benjamin A. Mosey
Benjamin 'Sarge' Mosey, 77, of Sparta, passed away May 15, 2006.
Mosey was born May 19, 1928, in Highland Park, Mich.
He was retired from military service.
Mosey was preceded in death by his parents; one infant child; and several brothers and sisters.
Survivors include his wife, Virginia Mosey, of Sparta; two sons, Benjamin Kevin Mosey, Bruce Allen Mosey, both of Arizona; one stepson, Robert W. Ewing and his wife Barbra, of Sparta; and 10 grandchildren.
Arrangements: Services will be 8 p.m., May 18, 2006, Thurman Funeral Home Chapel with burial at 1 p.m., May 19, 2006, at Middle Tennessee State Veterans cemetery in Nashville. Bro. Joe Blevins will officiate.

Mattie Treva Dukes
Mattie Treva Dukes, 86, of Doyle, passed away May 14, 2006.
Dukes was born July 12, 1919, in Gadsen, Ala., to Charlie Parker Brimer and Lula Prater Brimer.
Dukes was preceded in death by husband, Daniel M. Dukes; one son, Ernest Leslie Dukes; three brothers; and one sister.
Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, Joe M. and Mary Lou Dukes, Elmer Gene and Margie Dukes, James and Martha Dukes, all of Doyle; two daughters, Mary Tosh, of Manchester, Diane Dukes, of Doyle; one son-in-law, Houston Tosh, of Fayetteville; one sister, Beadie Randolph, of Spencer; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
Arrangements: Services were 3 p.m., May 17, 2006, at Love-Cantrell and Cope Spencer Chapel with burial at Malloy cemetery. Jeff Anderson and Aaron Burke officiated.
Love-Cantrell and Cope Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

A.C. Simmons
A.C. Simmons, 57, of Spencer, passed away May 14, 2006, at his residence.
Simmons was born Oct. 19, 1948, in Van Buren County, to Joe Paul and Anna Mae Hodge Simmons.
Simmons was preceded in death by his father, Joe Paul Simmons and one brother Joe Darrell Simmons.
Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Ronda and Royce Turner, of McMinnville; mother, Anna Mae Hodge Simmons, of Spencer; one grandson, Colby Turner, of McMinnville; three brothers, Donnie Simmons and wife Annetta, Ricky Eugene Simmons, Eric Simmons, all of Spencer; four sisters, Wanda Crouch, of McMinnville, Linda Pettit and husband Keith, Karen Moffitt, Sandra Measles and husband Johnny, all of Spencer; and several nieces and nephews.
Arrangements: Graveside services were 4 p.m., May 16, 2006, at Sodom cemetery. Ricky Rigsby and Freddie Harding officiated.
Love-Cantrell and Cope Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Walter Nathan King
Walter Nathan 'Buckie' King, 83, of Sparta, passed away May 13, 2006, at White County Community Hospital.
King was born March 31, 1923, in White County, to Frank and Myrtle Hill King.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He had been employed at Sparta Hardware.
King was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Robert Louis King; and one daughter, Bonnie Sue King.
Survivors include four nieces, Pamela Lewis, Tabitha Officer, both of Sparta, Sandra Fordham, of New York, Linda Geer, of North Carolina; cousins, Herman Hill, of Sparta, Bobby Hill, of Nashville, Barbara Hill, of Sparta, Nancy Reese, Nate Baugh, both of Manchester; and several great nieces and great nephews.
Arrangements: Services were 2 p.m., May 17, 2006, at Hunter Funeral Home with burial in Lee cemetery. Robert Burton officiated.
