Andrew Franklin White, 67
KINGSPORT - Andrew Franklin White, 67, of 169 1/2 Holcomb Street, was DOA Sunday (May 16, 2004) at Wellmont Holston Valley Hospital & Medical Center following injuries received in an automobile accident.
Mr. White was a native of Tazewell, Virginia but had spent most of his adult life in Hawkins and Sullivan Counties. He was a member of the Log House Church in Weber City and was a retired farmer.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Daisy Peters White, his first wife, Terry White, parents, Frank and Maggie Hughes White, two sisters, Opal Arnold and Betty Darnell.
He is survived by three sons, Jesse Lee White, Dufffield; Emerson Franklin White, Kingsport; and Joseph Charles and wife, Tonia Sims White, Church Hill; four grandchildren, Jesse, Charlie Jody and Hosea White; five brothers, Jackie Cordle, J. D. Cordle, Robert Cordle, Ronnie Cordle and Donnie Cordle, all of Blountville;two sisters, mary Richardson and Helen Olinger, both of Kingsport; several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours are from 6 to 8 P. M. Wednesday at Johnson Funeral Home and anytime at the residence of his son, Joseph White, 310 Grandview Street, Church Hill.
Services will be conducted Wednesday at 8:00 P. M. in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Ron Long officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at Church Hill Memory Gardens.

Daisy Peters White, 68

She was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew Franklin White, her parents, Emerson and Georgia Sons Peters, four sisters, Madeline Ratliff, Terry White, Nancy Carter and Bobbie Crowe.
She is survived by one son, John Peters, Kingsport; three step sons, Jesse Lee White, Duffield; Emerson Franklin White, Kingsport; Joseph Charles and wife, Tonia Sims White, Church Hill; four step grandchildren, Jesse, Charlie, Jody and Hosea White; one brother, Charles Peters, Gray; three sisters, Rachel Williams, Jerry Hickman and Mae Peters, all of Kingsport; several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours are from 6 to 8 P. M. Wednesday at Johnson Funeral Home and anytime at the home of Wade Garber, 681 Proffitt Lane, Gray, TN
Services will be conducted Wednesday at 8:00 P. M. in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Ron Long officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted Thursday at at 1:00 P. M. at Tri-Cities Memory Gardens.

Lula Mae Crawford, 83
MOUNT CARMEL - Lula Mae Crawford, 83, of Mount Carmel, passed away Friday (May 21, 2004) at Indian Path Medical Center following an extended illness.
Mrs. Crawford was a native of Scott County, Virginia but had spent most of her adult life in Hawkins county. She was a member of McPheeters Bend Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Luther Son Gilbert and second husband, Toy Crawford, three grandsons, her parents, Alex and Addie Barnette Wallen, several brothers and sisters.
She is survived by three daughters, Edna Mae Arnold, Church Hill; Lucille Walker and Margaret Ann Head, both of Rogersville; one son, Luther Eugene Gilbert, Church Hill; one step son, Nyles Crawford, Kingsport; one step daughter, Anna Lou Collins, Jonesboro; 6 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours are from 6:00 to 8:00 p. m. Monday at Johnson Funeral Home and anytime at the residence.
Services will be conducted Monday at 8:00 p. m. in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Ronnie Grimes and the Rev. Fayne Arnold officiating.
Music will be provided by the Sunrise Quartet.
Graveside services will be conducted Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at McPheeters Bend cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Alex Arnold, Alvis Arnold, Douglas Head, Dallas Head, Michael Gilbert, Steve Harless and Steven Harless.

Robin Renee Thompson, 40
CHURCH HILL - Robin Renee Thompson, 40, of Church Hill, went home to be with the Lord, Saturday (May 22, 2004) at her residence following an extended illness.
Robin was a life long resident of Church Hill and was a member of Liberty Baptist Church. She was a retired employee of Quebecor Printing.
She was preceded in death by her father, Davis C. Ward.
She is survived by her husband, Robin E. Thompson, Church Hill; two step sons, Chris and Rusty Thompson, Bulls Gap; one step daughter, Mandy Thompson, Church Hill; two step grandchildren, Devin and Dakota; her mother and step-father, Wanda and Jimmy Gray, Church Hill, grandmother, Dorothy Smith, Church Hill; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Michael and Tammy Ward, Scottie and Becki Ward, all of Church Hill; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Donna and Gary Minor, Church Hill; Kristy and Chad Stewart, Rogersville; special friend, Gladys Cox; several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours are from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Sunday at Johnson Funeral Home and anytime at the residence of her brother, Scottie Ward, Bud Ward Lane, Church Hill.
Services will be conducted Sunday at 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Chris Huff and the Rev. Rick Vannoy officiating. Burial will follow in the Ward cemetery.

Gorden Ingle Tipton, 72
II Cor. 5:8 "To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord"
CHURCH HILL - Gorden I. Tipton, 72, of Church Hill, passed away Tuesday (May 25, 2004) at Wellmont Holston Valley Hospital and Medical Center following an extended illness.
Mr. Tipton was a native of Scott County, Virginia but had lived in Church Hill for the past forty years. He was of the Methodist Faith and was a retired employee of the Kingsport Press and a veteran of the US Army.
Gorden was a man of strong fraith who was deeply loved and respected by all who knew him. His greatest joy was his grandsons. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt, fish and garden.
He was preceded in death by his father, Lucian Tipton and one sister, Kylene Joyner.
He is survived by his loving wife, Mae Neeley Tipton, Church Hill; two daughters and son-in-law, Trish Jones, Mount Carmel; Sharon and Brian Cox, Church Hill; three grandsons, Shane Jones and wife, Kelli, Hunter and Logan Cox; his mother, Lena Tipton, Gate City; very special nephew, Dwight Joyner and several nieces.
A special thanks to Dr. Dan Carroll, Dr. Steven Tomski, Dr. Jack Goldstein and Dr. Hiram Patel for their loving and tender care and a special thanks to his special nurse, Tammy DeSpain, the nurses and doctors of Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center who's love, kindness and compassion made his illness more bearable for him and his family.
Calling hours are from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Johnson Funeral Home and anytime at the residence.
Services will be conducted Thursday at 8:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Lonnie Wooten, Jr. officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted Friday at 1:00 p.m. at Holston View cemetery.

Bonnie Opal Penley, 89
Church Hill, Tn. - Mrs. Bonnie Opal Penley, age 89, of 155 Dykes Rd., Church Hill passed away Tuesday, June 1, 2004 at her home following an extended illness.
Mrs. Penley lived most of her life in Church Hill and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Church Hill.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Harley Penley in 1972. One daughter, Norma Jean Eaton, her parents, Elbert & Laura Begley Roller. Two sisters, Ethel Struope and Virgie Henard. One brother, Kenneth Roller,
Survivors include Daughter and Son-in-law, Kay & Bob Chappell of the home. One Son and Daughter-in-law, Wayne & Diane Penley of Melbourne, Fla.. 9 Grandchildren and 18 Great Grandchildren. One Brother, Rufus Roller of Kiingsport. Son-in-law, Joe Eaton of Church Hill.
Calling hours are from 6:00 to 8:00 pm Thursday at the Johnson Funeral Home, and anytime at the residence.
Funeral services will be conducted 8:00 pm Thursday at the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Gary Gerhardt officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted 10:00 am Friday at the East Lawn cemetery. Family and friends are to meet at the cemetery by 9:45 am.
Pallbearers will be, Keith Chappell, Lee Chappell, Tim Penley, Jeff Tieke, Calder Richardson, Mike Heilman, Joseph Tieke and Kent Eaton.
In lieu of flowers the family request that memorial contributions be made to the First Baptist Church Mini Bus Fund.

Lawrence Homer Hatcher, 83
Church Hill, Tn. - CHURCH HILL - Lawrence Homer Hatcher, 83 of Church Hill passed away Tuesday, (June 1, 2004) at the Wellmont Holston Valley Hospital & Medical Center following an extended illness.
Mr. Hatcher was a life long resident of Hawkins and Sullivan Counties having lived in Church Hill for the past 53 years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Church Hill, and was a veteran of the United States Marines having served in the South Pacific Conflict during World War II. He retired in 1981 from the Tennessee Eastman Company with 43 years of service, and was a avid wood worker.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Homer & Fannie Music Hatcher, two sisters, Marie Hatcher and Cora Hatcher Hovart, step-mother, Pearl Hatcher and half-brother, Phil Hatcher.
Survivors include his loving wife of 59 years, Mrs. Edna Sweeney Hatcher of the home. Daughter and son-in-law, Rev. Ron and Margie Grimes of Mount Carmel. Daughter, Linda Skelton of Morristown. Grandchildren, Matt Grimes and fiancee Amanda Bledsoe, Heather Grimes, Nick and Allison Skelton. Brother and sister-in-law, Glenn & Helen Hatcher of Kingsport, Half-Brother and wife, Larry & JoAnn Hatcher of Kingsport, Dr. Gene & Melanie Hatcher of Johnson City, Bill Hatcher of Kingsport, Ray & Lynn Hatcher of Montana. Nephew, Dr. Glen Hatcher, Jr. of Johnson City, Nieces and husband, Donna & Rick Wood of Seymour. Several other nieces & nephews.
Calling hours are from 6:00 to 8:00 pm Friday at the Johnson Funeral Home and anytime at the residence.
Funeral services will be conducted 8:00 pm Friday at the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Gary Gerhardt officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted 11:00 am Saturday at the Liberty Hill cemetery.
Serving as Pallbearers are Nick Skelton, Matt Grimes, Chris Hale, Jon Krutak, Andy Hale and Sam Hale.
Serving as Honorary Bearers are Jerry Hale and Mike Hale.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the Wegener's Granulomatosis Association, P.O. Box 28660. Kansas City, Missouri 04188-8660.
