Mennie Ruth Davidson, 81
CHURCH HILL - Mennie Ruth Davidson, 81, of 120 Payne Ridge Road, passed away Monday (January 13, 2004) at Wellmont Holston Valley Hospital & Medical Center following an extended illness.
Mrs. Davidson was a life long resident of Hawkins County and was a member of Valley View Missionary Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert A. Davidson, one daughter, Judy Gail Davidson, her parents, Samuel H. & Minnie Lee Sandidge, six sisters and three brothers.
She is survived by five sons and daughters-in-law, Herbert and Mary Sue Davidson, David and Savannah Davidson, Ronald Davidson and Clifford and Kathy Davidson, all of Church Hill; Ricky and Eileen Davidson, Rogersville; one daughter, Matilda Davidson, Church Hill; two grand daughters, five grandsons and six great grandchildren; one sister, Bessie Sandidge, Church Hill; several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours are from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Johnson Funeral Home Home and anytime at the residence.
Services will be conducted Wednesday at 8:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Alvin Skelton officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at Valley View cemetery.

Owen Lee Ketron, 82
SURGOINSVILLE - Owen Lee Ketron, 82, of 146 Caney Valley Loop, passed away Monday, (April 5, 2004) at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center following an extended illness.
Mr. Ketron was a life long resident of Hawkins County and was a retired farmer.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence D. & Silvana Jenkins Ketron, one brother, Junior Ketron.
He is survived by one sister, Margaret Grills, Kingsport; one nephew, Jerry Ketron.
Calling hours are from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Johnson Funeral Home.
Services will be conducted Thursday at 1:00 P. M. in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Doug Harris officiating. Burial will follow in the Jenkins cemetery.

Donald Wayne Steadman, 69
MOUNT CARMEL - Donald Wayne Steadman, 69, of Mount Carmel, passed away Sunday (April 5, 2004) at his residence following an extended illness.
Mr. Steadman was a life long resident of Sullivan and Hawkins counties and was a member of Mount Carmel United Methodist Church and was a retired employee of the Kingsport Press.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Carson Walter and Georgia Winegar Steadman and infant brother.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce Opal Burnette Steadman, Mount Carmel; three daughters & sons-in-law, Donna and Keith Oaks, Kingsport; Sonda and Bryan Creasy and Ronda Calhoun, all of Mount Carmel; three grandchildren, Sara Oaks, Amber Calhoun and Weston Creasy; several nieces, nephews, uncle and cousins.
Calling hours are from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Johnson Funeral Home.
Services will be conducted Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Larry Caylor officiating.
Private graveside services will be conducted Thursday at Liberty Hill cemetery.

Frank Anthony Piliceri, Sr., 84
KINGSPORT- Frank Anthony Piliceri, Sr., 84, of Rotherwood Estates, passed away Sunday (April 4, 2004) at Wellmont Hospice House in Bristol following a short illness.
Mr. Piliceri was a native of Rockville Centre, New York and had lived in Kingsport since 1993. He was a Roman Catholic and was a retired Mason Contractor. Frank was a golf pro, a member of the PGA, the Rockville Centre Golf Club, Wheatley Hills County Club and Ridgefields Country Club. He was a veteran of World War II, US Army Air Force, he was a T/Sgt, US Inspector School and was instrumental in building the Tullahoma Air Base and served in Okinawa.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Rita Piliceri, his parents, Joseph Piliceri and Angelina Treccasi Buda, two brothers, Alfonse Piliceri and Dominick Buda, one sister, Rose Treccasi.
He is survived by his companion of twenty years, Linda Parnell, Kingsport; one son, Frank Anthony Piliceri, Jr., Miami, FL; one daughter, Lori Piliceri, two grandchildren, Frank Piliceri, III and Elizabeth Piliceri; two half sisters, Mary Calabrese, Fort Lauderdale, FL and Katherine Hackett, Naples, FL.
Calling hours are from 6 to 8 P. M. Tuesday at Johnson Funeral Home and anytime at the residence.
A funeral mass will be conducted Wednesday at 1:00 P. M. at Saint Dominicks Catholic Church with Father Charles Burton officiating.
Interment will be in Long Island National cemetery, Farmingdale, New York.
The family request in lieu of flowers, memorial be made to the American Cancer Society.

Otis Johnson, 64
CHURCH HILL- Otis "O. J." Johnson, received a complete and instant cure on April 3, 2004. His living soul abruptly left Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center and was received into the arms of Jesus Christ our Savior at 3:57 p.m. Several family members were by his side and witnessed this amazing transformation.
Mr. Johnson was a life long resident of Hawkins County and was a retired employee of Holston Defense Corporation.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Holland Clay and Nannie Lou Blanton Johnson, one brother, Monroe Johnson,
He is survived by his wife, Mary Lou McLain Johnson, Church Hill; two sons and daughters-in-law, Mark and Tammy Johnson, Church Hill; Kent and Missy Johnson, Maryville, TN; three grandchildren, Ryan, Shae and Steevie Caldwell, and another on the way courtesy of Kent and Missy; two sisters, Barbara Johnson Thacker, Church Hill; Hazel Johnson Ashbrook, Kingsport; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Heart felt thanks to the entire staff at Church Hill Health Care & Rehab Center and the ICU nurses at Wellmont. Thanks also to Patsy Johnson and Kathy Hensley for being Dad's special friends. Finally we want to express our love and thanks to Shirley Davis for loving and caring for our father.

Services will be conducted Tuesday at 7 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Derek Bell officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at Church Hill Memory Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Chris Ashbrook, Chris Christian, Gordon Christian, Doug Thacker, Pete Thacker and Todd Wheelock.
Honorary bearers will be Larry Arnold and Randy Johnson.

Genevieve Venoy Dorton, 81
CHURCH HILL - Genevieve Venoy Dorton, 81, passed away Thursday (April 1, 2004) at the Church Hill Health Care & Rehab Center following a brief illness.
Mrs. Dorton was a native of Lorado, West Virginia but had spent most of her life in Church Hill, and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Church Hill.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas C. Dorton in 1970, her parents, Emmett C., Sr. and Alice Crawford Venoy, brother, Hurley Venoy.
She is survived by two sons and daughter-in-law, Tommy Dorton, Kingsport; Bill and Judy Dorton, Church Hill; seven grandchildren, Scott, Jayson, Harley, Brandon, Rhonda, Camron and Joey Dorton; Seven great grandchildren;two brothers, Emmett Venoy, Jr., Mount Carmel; Mike Venoy, Valrico, Florida; two sisters, Linda Hurley, Stuart, Florida and Blanche Sexton, Oak Ridge, TN; several nieces and nephew. A special thanks to the staff of Church Hill Health Care and Rehab Center of Church Hill.
Calling hours are from 5 to 7 P.M. Saturday at Johnson Funeral Home and anytime at the home of her son, Bill Dorton, 122 Main Street, Church Hill.
Services will be conducted Saturday at 7:00 P. M. in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Gary Gerhardt and Dr. Vic Young officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted Sunday at 2:00 P. M. at Liberty Hill cemetery with the Rev. Ron Ramsey officiating.
Pallbearers will be Scott Dorton, Jason Dorton, Harley Dorton, Brandon Dorton, Joey Yates and Camron Dorton.
Honorary bearers will be member of the Peacemakers Bikers Association.

James "Jim" Larry Click, 66
CHURCH HILL - James "Jim" Larry Click, 66, McPheeters Bend Community, passed away Sunday (March 28, 2004) at Indian Path Medical Center following an extended illness.
Jim was a veteran and retired from the U. S. Army after serving his country. He later retired from Montgomery Ward. He was a member of the non-commissioned officers of America (NCOA) and the American Legion Post # 21.
Jim was of the Baptist faith and a member of McPheeters Bend Missionary Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, W. C. "Cooper" and Blanche Arnold Click; and a brother, William C. "Bill" Click.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years (April 5th being their anniversary), Josephine "Jo" Nash Click, Church Hill; two sons & daughter-in-law, William "Bill" and Vickie Click, Jackson, TN; and Douglas "Doug" Click, Bristol, TN; three grandchildren, Cooper Click, Jackson, TN; Heather and Sarah Click, Church Hill; one brother and sister-in-law, Patrick "Pat" and Sandy Click, Church Hill; several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours are from 1:00 to 2:00 P. M. Tuesday at Johnson Funeral Home.
Services will be conducted Tuesday at 2:00 P. M. in the funeral home chapel, Rev. Mark Roberts will officiate and burial will follow with Military rites conducted by the Hawkins County Color Guard at McPheeters Bend cemetery.
Pallbeaers will be members of the Hawkins County Color Guard.
