CHURCH HILL - Ray W. Hutson, 76, of Broyles Avenue, passed away Tuesday (March 11, 2003) at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center following a brief illness.
Mr. Hutson was a native of Scott County, Virginia but had spent most of his adult life in Church Hill. He was a member of Phipps Bend Free Will Baptist Church and was a retired employee of Quebecor World.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Will and Nannie Arnold Hutson.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Manis Hutson, Church Hill; one daughter and son-in-law, Angie and Marty Scism, Church Hill; one grandson, Ethan Scism, Church Hill; one brother, Clinton Hutson, Surgoinsville; three sisters, Mary Arnold, Bertie Arnold and Sally McDowell, all of Church Hill; special friend, Johnny Taylor.
Calling hours are from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Johnson Funeral Home and anytime at the residence.
Services will be conducted Thursday at 8:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Rick Adams and the Rev. George Winegar officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted Friday at 11:00 a.m. at Church Hill Memory Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Rick Arnold, Carl Arnold, Jr., Gerald Charles, Roger Howard, Carl McPeek and Jon Summey.
Honorary bearers will be Adult Men's Sunday School Class of Phipps Bend Free Will Baptist Church.
The family request those desiring may make memorial contributions to the Building Fund of Phipps Bend Free Will Baptist Church, C/O Carl McPeek, 158 Regency Drive, Rogersville, TN 37857.

CHURCH HILL, TN. - MARGARET RINGLEY BROWN, AGE 62, OF 1020 OLD UNION RD., CHURCH HILL passed away SUNDAY, MARCH 9, 2003 AT THE WELLMONT HOLSTON VALLEY HOSPITAL & MEDICAL CENTER FOLLOWING A BRIEF ILLNESS.
MARGARET WAS A NATIVE OF HAWKINS COUNTY AND WAS A RETIRED EMPLOYEE OF THE QUEBECOR COMPANY WITH 32 YEARS OF SERVICE. SHE WAS A MEMBER OF THE FRATERNAL ORDER OF EAGLES, WOMEN OF THE KINGSPORT MOOSE LODGE AND LADIES AUXILLARY OF THE KINGSPORT V.F.W.
SHE IS PRECEDED IN DEATH BY HER MOTHER, EDITH RINGLEY.
SURVIVORS INCLUDE TWO SONS AND DAUGHTER-IN-LAWS, RICKY ALLAN & JUDY EIDSON OF CHURCH HILL, AND TROY EUGENE & SHERRY EIDSON OF CHURCH HILL. DAUGHTER, DONNA JO EIDSON ANDERSON OF KINGSPORT, AND DAUGHTER AND SON-IN-LAW, ALISHA ( NIKI) & PAUL ROBINSON OF CHURCH HILL. GRANDCHILDREN, RICKY EIDSON, JR., COREY EIDSON, KELLY EIDSON, DESTINY ANDERSON AND EVAN ROBINSON. BROTHER, DONNIE RINGLEY OF KINGSPORT, SISTERS, BEATRICE WILLIS OF KINGSPORT, BOBBIE McNUTT AND HUSBAND RICHARD McNUTT OF CHURCH HILL, DEBBIE CASE OF SURGOINSVILLE, RHONDA RINGLEY OF ROGERSVILLE AND JOETTA GONCE AND HUSBAND, EDDIE GONCE OF CHURCH HILL. Charlotte A. Grogg, 60
KINGSPORT - Charlotte A. Grogg, 60, went to be with the Lord on Monday (August 11, 2003) at her residence.
Charlotte was born April 1, 1943 in Church Hill, TN; the daughter of Davis E. Bombailey and the late Rachel Robinette Bombailey.
Surviving are her loving husband and best friend, Harold Grogg of the home; her daughter, Rebecca Hilton; her daughter and son-in-law, Debi and Robert Feathers; grandchildren, Andrew David and Benjamin Davis Hilton and Matilee Elizabeth Feathers; her father, Dave Bombailey; brother, Davis Bombelli; sisters, Joy (Mrs. Tommy) Parker and Judy (Mrs. Eric) DeLoach; special friends, Daisy Carroll, Mrs, Gene Mottern, Mrs. Roscoe Elam and Nora Light.
Charlotte was a loving mother, special grandmother and devoted wife. She leaves many special nieces and nephews and friends. She was a successful business woman as proprietor of Rachel's Daughter.

Pallbearers will be her nephews and great nephews, Mike Parker, Brett DeLoach, Sam DeLoach, Steve Harris, Mark Testerman, Josh Edmonson, Thomas Edmonson and Bo Ford.
Honorary bearers will be Seth Testerman, Houston Harris, Bryce DeLoach, Seth Rimer, Justin Rimer, Matthew Parker, Christopher Parker and Christopher Bennett.
In lieu of flowers, the family request contributions be made to the American Cancer society or the American Heart Association.

Randall Simpson, 41
ROGERSVILLE - Randall Simpson, 41, of 454 Dunkard Church Road, passed away Friday (July 25, 2003) at Fort Sanders Hospital in Knoxville following injuries received in a boating accident.
Mr. Simpson was a life long resident of Hawkins County and was co-owner of Simpson Brothers Construction Company.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Renita Gay Cradic Simpson, father, Dea Ida Simpson.
He is survived by two sons and daughter-in-law, Nathan & Michelle Simpson, Church Hill; Joseph Simpson & fiance, Savannah Armstong, Rogersville; his mother, Kathleen Light Simpson, Rogersville; two grandchildren, Tabitha Simpson and Bryson Simpson; four brothers and sisters-in-laws, Gary & Cherlee Simpson, Kingsport; David & Wanda Simpson, Bob & Darleen Simpson and Rick Simpson, all of Rogersville; two sisters & brothers-in-law, Lois and Gary Stapleton and Joan and Roger Easterling, all of Nicklesville, Virginia; several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours are from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Johnson Funeral Home and anytime at the home of his mother, Kathleen Simpson, 241 Bays Mountain Road, Rogersville.
Services will be conducted Sunday at 8:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Orville Dolen and the Rev. Mike Cutshaw officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted Monday at 11:00 a.m. at the Bowser cemetery.

Mr. Donald D. Speer, 87
Mr. Donald D. Speer, age 87, of 442 W. Morgan Ave., Church Hill passed away Wednesday, July 23, 2003 at the Wellmont Holston Valley Hospital and Medical Center following an extended illness.
Mr. Speer was a native of of Clinchport, Virginia and was a direct desendent of Josuah Speer who founded the Speer's Ferry in Clinchport, Virginia in the early 1800's. Mr. Speer lived in California for 40 years before moving to Church Hill in 1972. He was a retired Real Estate Broker and was a member of the Cross Roads United Methodist Church.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Nelson P. and Bessie Baker Speer, Two brothers, Keith Speer and Norman Speer and one sister, Lotus Foulk.
Survivors include his wife of 68 years Anna Louise Pierce Speer of the home, One son, Dr. Donald P. Speer of Alaska. Grandchildren, Kirsten Speer and Marshall P. Speer both of Arizona and Stephen Anthony Speer of Florida. Several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be conducted at 2:00 pm Saturday at the Pierce Family cemetery on Resevoir Rd. in Kingsport with the Rev. Mak Fleenor officiating. Family and friends are to meet at the cemetery at 1:50 pm Saturday.
In lieu of flowers the Speer family request memorial contributions be made to the Cross Roads United Methodist Church.

Homer Goad, 62
ROGERSVILLE - Homer Goad, 62, of 1297 Mountain View Road, passed away Saturday (October 4, 2003) at his home.
Mr. Goad was a life long resident of Hawkins County and was a veteran of the US Army, Korean Conflict.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Murrell Goad and Bertha Light Goad.
He is survived by three sisters and brothers-in-law, Eleanor and Ed Ward, Irene and Harold Gilreath and Margaret and Gale Crawford all of Rogersville; five brothers and sisters-in-law, Jack and Sunny Goad, Vernon and Deanna Goad, Jim and Kim Goad and Jeff Goad all of Rogersville; Junior and Freida Goad, Kingsport; his second mother, Melissa Webb and husband, Clarence, Kingsport; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Calling hours are from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Johnson Funeral Home and anytime at the home of his sister, Irene Gilreath, 1296 Mountain View Road,

SURGOINSVILLE - Bertha Mae Cox, 85, of 282 Long Hollow Road, passed away Saturday (October 4, 2003) at Wellmont Hawkins County Hospital following an extended illness.
Mrs. Cox was a life long resident of Hawkins County and was a member of Amis Chapel United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Hugh Lee Cox, one son, Robert Cox, her mother, Cora Adams and brother, J. C. Adams.
She is survived by two daughters and son-in-law, Brenda Cox Chess and husband, Donnie, Rogersville; Alvada Moree, Kingsport; four sons and daughters-in-law, Joe and Barbara Cox, Surgoinsville; Roy and Carolyn Cox and Frank "Bud" and Nancy Cox, all of Kingsport; Coy and Gladys Cox, Miami, Florida; 18 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren; three special great grandchildren, Landon & Weston Hickman and Gracie Winegar.
Calling hours are from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Johnson Funeral Home and anytime at the home of her grand daughter, Wendie & Ron Hickman, 2628 Stanley Valley Road, Surgoinsville.
