Allain Johnson Walker
BRISTOL, TN - Allain "Ally" Johnson Walker, age 64 of Bristol, TN, passed away Saturday, December 16, 2006, at Johnson City Medical Center.
She was a lifelong resident of Sullivan County and was a retired employee of the Wal Mart. She was of the Baptist faith.
She was preceded in death by her parents James Johnson, Sr. and Okelee Mowdy Mounger.
She is survived by her daughters, Kimberly Johnson and Brooke Hinchey both of Bristol, TN, Sherry Bowman and John Walters and Kendell Wetherby all of Johnson City; a son-in-law, John Hinchey, Jr. of Bristol, TN; grandchildren, Michael Bare, Cory Hinchey, Brittany Garden, Brandon Garden and Bridgette Garden; brother, Skip Johnson and wife Judy of Kingsport; several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be from 12-8:00 PM Wednesday December 20, 2006 at the residence of a daughter, Brooke Hinchey, 1042 Vance Drive, Bristol, TN.
A service will be held at 2:00 PM at the residence with Rev. Charles Wallen officiating.

Franklin Delano Bond
KINGSPORT - Franklin Delano Bond, 73 of Kingsport, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, December 13, 2006, at Holston Valley Medical Center following a brief illness.
Born in Greene County, TN, Frank had been a resident of Kingsport for most of his life and was a veteran of the U.S. Airforce, serving during the Korean Conflict.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Ann Bond; a son, James Russell Bond; his parents, James and Bonnie Hawkins Bond; sisters, Kate Navratil and Edna Reece; brothers Howard Bond, Ray Bond and Bob Bond.
He is survived by his daughters, Sara Bond of Johnson City, Traci Thomas and husband James and Shelia Rhoten; son, Richard Bond and wife Delores all of Kingsport; grandchildren, Susan Bond, Brittany Glover and husband William, Travis Rhoten and wife Crystal, Jamie Thomas and Jordan Thomas; great grandchildren, Kylie Glover and Cameron Glover; sister, Mary Sue Williams of Kingsport; several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be from 4-6 PM on Sunday, December 17, 2006 at Carter-Trent Funeral Home, Kingsport.
Funeral services will follow at 6:00 PM in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Roy Brickey officiating.
Military graveside services will be conducted at 10:00 AM on Monday at Mountain Home National cemetery with the American Legion Hammond Post #3, Gate City Post #265 and the TN National Guard performing the rites. The Color Guard will serve as pallbearers. Those who wish to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the cemetery at 9:55 AM.

Vernon Gordon Sloan
KINGSPORT - Vernon Gordon Sloan, age 65 of Kingsport, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 12, 2006, at Holston Valley Medical Center following a long illness.
Born in Excelsior, WV, Gordon had lived in Kingsport for most of his life. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army and attended Souls Harbor Pentecostal Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William Ray and Calibelle (Horton) Sloan; a granddaughter, Tiffany Crawford and a sister, Diana Walters.
He is survived by his wife, Lena Reed Sloan of the home; daughters, Sharon Sloan, Alicia Hicks and LeAnn Sloan; a son, Brian Sloan all of Kingsport; grandsons, Justin Sloan and Haden Castle; great-granddaughter, Lexie Sloan; sister, Donna White of Kingsport; brothers, Carlon Sloan and wife Nancy and Jerry Sloan all of Kingsport; several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be from 5-7 PM Thursday December 14, 2006 at Carter-Trent Funeral Home, Kingsport.
Funeral services will be held at 7:00 PM in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Wayne Morelock officiating. Music will be provided by Terry and Sharon Fugate.

Edna Hicks
KINGSPORT - Lotis Edna Davidson Hicks, 83, of Kingsport, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 12, 2006, at Holston Valley Medical Center.
Born in Scott County, VA (Ft. Blackmore) she moved to Kingsport at an early age. She had previously worked at Tennessee Eastman as a floor lady. Later in life she worked for the Sullivan County Board of Education in the food service department at Brookside Elementary School. Edna was a member of Bloomingdale Baptist Church, where she taught sunday school for many years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Hugh D. "Slick" Hicks; son Hugh D. "Dickie" Hicks; parents, Willard and Clara (Darnell) Davidson; sister, Edith White.
She is survived by her daughters, Martha Holbrook and husband Lowell of Kingsport and Carol Bourke and husband William of Atlanta, GA; a son, Eddie Hicks and wife Sharon Steele of Leesburg, VA; grandchildren, Kevin Bourke, Rebecca Holbrook, Dr. Karyn Bourke, Dr. John Holbrook, Heath Hicks, Amy Hicks and Holly Hicks; brother, Don Davidson and wife Imogene of Kingsport and sister-in-law, Ofa Hicks of Kingsport.
Calling hours will be from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM on Saturday December 16, 2006 at Carter-Trent Funeral Home, Kingsport.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 PM in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Joe W. Byrd officiating. Burial will follow in East Lawn Memorial Park. Grandsons and friends will serve as pallbearers. Mort Cooper
BRISTOL, VA - Abbott Morton "Mort" Cooper, III, 80 of Bristol, VA, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday night, December 6, 2006 at Bristol Regional Medical Center.
He was born in Bryn Mawr, PA and lived in south Florida before moving to the area in 2001. Mr. Cooper served in the U.S. Army and Merchant Marines. After retiring from his commercial art business, Mort followed his desire as a naturalist and traveled the world leading birding tours. He attended Arcadia Presbyterian Church.
Abbott Mort Cooper is survived by his wife, Charlotte Caulkins Cooper of the home; his step-children, Esther Carrie Bradley and husband Bruce of Charleston, SC and Bradley Caulkins and wife Jenny of Rocky Mount, NC; brother, John A. Cooper and wife Avis of Kresquville, PA and two nephews, William and Jay Cooper.
A private graveside service was conducted Saturday morning (December 9, 2006) at Gardner's Chapel cemetery. A memorial service will be conducted on Friday (December 15, 2006) at 7:00 PM at Arcadia Presbyterian Church with Pastor John Irwin and Rev. Guy Tilley officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to WHCB Radio, P.O. Box 2061, Bristol, TN 37621-2061 or to the Arcadia Presbyterian Church Building Fund, 4616 Bloomingdale Road, Kingsport, TN 37660.

Walter Sanderford
JONESBOROUGH - Walter Vance “Buck” Sanderford, 59, of Jonesborough went to be with the Lord on Friday afternoon (December 8, 2006) at his residence following an extended illness.
He was born in Wake County, North Carolina & moved to Jonesborough, TN in 2000. Mr. Sanderford retired from the State of North Carolina as a (HVAC) mechanic. Buck loved to play golf at Twin Creeks with his good friend, Marvin Byrd. He enjoyed fishing and was an avid model train collector. Mr. Sanderford was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Sherry Sanderford Draag; a son-in-law, John William Draag; his parents, Marion & Vernice Holt Sanderford.
Mr. Sanderford is survived by his wife, Mary Hudson Sanderford; his sisters, Linda Worrells, Hilda Carpenter & her husband, Sonny, Gail Stevens & her husband, Larry (all of Raleigh, NC) along with several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held on Monday (December 11, 2006) at Renaissance Funeral Home (7615 Six Forks Road, Raleigh, NC) from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
A funeral service will be conducted on Monday (December 11, 2006) at 3 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with his pastor, Dr. Cecil Sturgill & Rev. Joe Robinette officiating.
A graveside service will follow the funeral at Montlawn Memorial Park in Raleigh, NC with family and friends serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Ray Hensley, Skip Scroggs, Marvin Byrd & Howard Hudson.

Beatrice (McClain) Brummett
Kingsport - Ollie Beatrice (McClain) Brummett, 89, of Kingsport has gone Home for Christmas to meet her Lord on Saturday (December 9, 2006) at her residence.
She was born in Johnson City, TN, who was the daughter of the late Robert Leonard McClain & Ollie Mae Booth McClain. Beatrice was a graduate of the Fishery School in Erwin, TN and the Cincinnati School of Cosmetology. Mrs. Brummett was quite an accomplished artist doing many beautiful oil paintings and pencil sketches during her lifetime. She was a choir member and Sunday School teacher at Bays Mountain Baptist Church for many years. She had the honor of naming the church when members of Long Island Baptist Church built a new building. She and her husband were charter members of Bays Mountain Baptist Church where she was affectionately known as "Miss B". Beatrice was pre-deceased by her beloved husband, C. Herman Brummett to whom she was married
for 67 years at the time of his death in 2005.
Mrs. Brummett is survived by her five children, Rev. Donald McClain Brummett & his wife, Viola Smith Brummett (Wichita, KS), Terry Wayne Brummett & his wife, Donna Jeremias Brummett (Newberry, SC), Robin Brummett Collins & her husband, Floyd Collins (Kingsport, TN), Rev. William David (Bill) Brummett & his wife, Anita Laney Brummett (Thomasville, NC), Rev. Allen Kent Brummett & his wife, Louise Horne Brummett (Kingsport, TN); her grandchildren, Pamela Jean Collins, Eric McClain Brummett, Anthony (Tony) Wayne Brummett, Terna Louise Brummett Huntley, Tricia Lynn Collins Garber. Anna Elizabeth Brummett Hutchins, William David (Billy) Brummett, Jr. & Lindsey Christine Brummett; her great grandchildren, Breton Huntley, Hannah Brummett, Zachary Brummett, Kristen Hutchins, Scottie Garber, Jacob Brummett, Jesse Garber, Dora Brummett & Nicolas Huntley.
A visitation will be held on Monday (December 11, 2006) from 5:30 to 7 pm at Carter-Trent Funeral Home, Kingsport or friends may also call anytime at the residence of the daughter, Robin Collins. A funeral service will be conducted at 2 pm on Tuesday (December 12, 2006) in the funeral home chapel with Dr. Frank Crawford officiating.
The graveside service will follow the funeral at Oak Hill cemetery with Billy Brummett, Billy Hutchins, Tony Brummett, Chuck Jeremias, Randall Garber, Wesley Taylor, Jon Huntley & Christopher Cox serving as pallbearers.
Those who wish may make memorial contributions to the Calvary Baptist Church, 1238 Pine Street, Kingsport, TN 37660 or to the charity of their choice.

Thelma Redwine
KINGSPORT - Thelma Marie Necessary Redwine, 91, of Kingsport went to be with the Lord on Thursday night (December 7, 2006) at Hillside Manor Health Care following an extended illness.
She was born in St. Charles, Virginia & had lived in Kingsport since 1961. Mrs. Redwine was employed at Kingsport City School System with Food Service & later worked at Modern Bakery Company. Thelma loved to work in her flowers & enjoyed her family, friends & neighbors. She was a member of Liberty Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star. Also, she was a member of Fairview Primitive Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lester Redwine in 1961; her two grandchildren, Tim Dotson & Robin Carter; her parents, Charlie Necessary & Nora Baird Necessary; a brother, Harold Necessary.
Thelma is survived by her two daughters, Glenda Dotson & Gloria Johnston (both of Kingsport); a son, Danny Redwine (Kingsport); six grandchildren, Tracy Carroll, Leslie McCrackin, John David Johnston, Anne Marie Pierce, Sarah Bedingfield & Catherine Redwine; seven great-grandchildren; a brother, Gerald Necessary (Kingsport) along with several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday (December 10, 2006) from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Carter-Trent Funeral Home, Kingsport.
A funeral service will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Wayne Baker officiating.
A graveside service will follow the funeral at Lee Memorial Gardens in Woodway, Virginia with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
