Geraline Cox
Geraline Cox, 76, went to be with the Lord, Monday (December 3, 2007) at Holston Valley Medical Center.
She was born in Bland County, Virginia and had lived most of her life in Kingsport. She was a graduate of Dobyns-Bennett High School and was a graduate of East Tennessee State University. Geraline was retired from Eastman Chemical Corp after over 37 years of service an was a member of Saint Matthews United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Grover and Georgia Self Cox; sister, Grace Lois Cox; brother Grover Cox, Jr. and Glenn Cox.
She is survived by her nephew, Don Cox and wife Dorothy, Kingsport; two great nephews, Greg Cox, Kingsport, and Joshua Cox, Jacksonville, Fl; great nieces, Melinda Maness, Kingsport; two great great nephews, and two great great nieces.
Graveside services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday (December 5, 2007) at Oak Hill cemetery with Pastor Bobby Black officiating. Friends and family planning to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery at 1:55 p.m.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be sent to Saint Matthews United Methodist Church at 2505 Nathan Street, Kingsport, TN 37664.

Agnes Skillen Winstead
Kingsport, TN - Agnes Skillen Winstead, passed away at the Asbury Center at Baysmont on December 1, 2007.
She was born May 30, 1906 in Johnstown, PA, to Agnes and Francis Clarence Martin. She graduated from Hollins College in 1928. With a Bachelor of Music Degree, with a piano specialty, she began a lifelong career as an accomplished pianist and organist. She also did post graduate study in piano at the University of North Carolina. Moving from Pennsylvania to North Carolina following WWII, Mrs. Winstead served as the Minister of Music at Trinity Avenue Presbyterian Church in Durham, NC until her retirement in 1971. In addition to being a church musician, she taught piano as well as public school music in the Durham area. She was an active member of the Blossom Garden Club, Durham Women's Club, American Guild of Organists, and Women of the Church. She was awarded a lifetime membership to the Women of the Church at Trinity Avenue Presbyterian in 1975. In 1995 she moved to Kingsport, TN and resided at the Asbury Center at Baysmont where she continued to share her musical talent.
Mrs. Winstead was preceded in death by her first husband, Albert LeRoy Skillen; her second husband, Frank Ollin Winstead; her brother, Dr. Donald S. Martin.
She is survived by her daughter, Melissa S. Shull and husband James Michael of Gate City; son, Robert LeRoy Skillen and wife Mary of Bakersville, NC; grandchildren Elizabeth Skillen Wilson, Kathryn Skillen D'Andrea, Robert Stewart Skillen, James McPherson Skillen, Matthew Lee Bressler and Mary Katherine Shull; eleven grandchildren; brother, Dr. David Martin of Lewisburg, PA.
Memorial services will be held, at 2 p.m. Saturday (December 15, 2007) at Asbury Center in the Baysmont Great Room. Pastor Dan Clark will be officiating. Music will be provided by Julie Vogel and Louise Ammons.
Memorial contributions may be made to Waverly Road Presbyterian Church, Music Dept, 1415 Waverly Rd, Kingsport, TN 37664.
The family would like to express their appreciation to the staffs of Asbury Center at Baysmont and the Oaks for their kind care.

Lewis Gentry
Lewis Gentry, age 73, of Kingsport went to be with the Lord Friday (November 23, 2007) at his residence in Kingsport.
He was born in Scott County, Va. (Hiltons) and had lived in Kingsport most of his life where he graduated from Lynn View High School in 1955. Lewis served in the United States Army and spent most of his time in Germany. He was a retired superintendent with J. A. Street & Associates and was a member of Bloomingdale Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his father, C. C. Gentry and infant sister.
Lewis is survived by his wife of over 52 years, Dora Belle Miller Gentry of the home; daughter, Jennifer Gentry Swanson, Birmingham, Al.; son, Jeffery Scott Gentry, Ferguson, Nc.; mother, Verna McNutt Gentry, Kingsport; two grandchildren, Jake Swanson, and Sam Swanson.
Calling hours will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday (November 26, 2007) at Carter-Trent Funeral Home, Kingsport.
Funeral service will be Monday at 7 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Joe W. Byrd officiating and Eulogy by Mike Swanson. Music will be provided by Jerry Taylor.
A military graveside service will be conducted at Oak Hill cemetery on Tuesday (November 27, 2007) at 11 a.m. with American Legion Post 3/265 and Tenn National Guard with Chaplin Joe W. Byrd. Pallbearers will be Don Meade, Mike Swanson, J. Fred Lane, Todd Lane, Jake Swanson, and James H. “Jim” Linkous. Sam Swanson will be serving as honorary pallbearer.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions are asked to be made to the American Cancer Society.

W. Claude Mason
Kingsport - W. Claude Mason, 77, Kingsport, went to be with the Lord Wednesday (November 21, 2007) at Brookhaven Manor.
He was born in Knoxville, TN and lived most of his life in Kingsport. He served in the U. S. Army. He was a Boy Scout Master and also coached a girl's softball team; he was a lover of all types of sports. Mr. Mason retired from Tennessee Eastman as a Maintance Mechanic. He was a member of Vermont United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Rev. Frank C. and Jennie Lee Slover Mason; sister, Betty Lee Grubb; brothers, Dwight Mason and Ray Mason.
He is survived by a daughter, Jennie Lee Greene, Kingsport; grandchildren, Bobby James Greene, Kingsport, Jennifer DeBlackmore, Kingsport; great-grandchildren, Rebecca Greene, Eric DeBlackmore, Colt Mason DeBlackmore, Hunter DeBlackmore; brother, Robert "Bob" mason, Dandridge, TN; several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be Monday (November 26, 2007) from 12:30 to 2 p.m.at Vermont United Methodist Church.
Funeral services will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Vermont United Methodist Church with Rev. Bill Cahill and Rev. Denny Ford officiating. Eulogy will be provided by Mr. James D. Bacon. Music will be provided by Rev. Billy Gillespie. Military graveside services will follow at East Lawn Memorial Park, with The American Legion Post 3/265 and Tennessee National Guard, chaplinn Joe. W. Byrd conducting the rites. Pallbearers will be Mark Mason, David Mason, Bryan Mason, John Mason, Dan Mason, and Ben Mason. Honorary Pallbearers will be Charles Stuffle, Wilburn Hensley, Sheryl Greer and Jerry Quinsburry.

Kingsport – Donald “Donnie” Darnell, 55, Kingsport, went to be with the Lord on Thursday (November 22, 2007) at his residence.
He was born in Washington County, TN and had lived most of his life in Sullivan County. He was retired from the City of Kingsport (Water Dept.) after over 21 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents Hughie “Everett” and Margaret Carter Darnell; father-in-law, Bill Henry; great nephew, Daxton Dove; several aunts and uncles.
He is survived by his wife,
Grace Henry Darnell, of the home; mother-in-law, Ethel Henry, Kingsport; sister, Carolyn Henry and husband, Jessie, Kingsport; brothers, Billy Darnell, Kingsport, Jimmy Darnell and wife Myrtle, Hiltons, VA; brother-in-law, Russ Henry and wife Edith, Kingsport; several nieces and nephews; several great nieces and nephews; several great-great nieces and nephews; several aunts and uncles.
Calling hours will be 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday (November 24, 2007) at Carter-Trent Funeral Home, Kingsport.
Funeral services will be 8 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home chapel with Elder Amos Bright officiating. Music will be provided by Ashley Stapleton.
Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Sunday (November, 25 2007) at Fields cemetery, Rye Cove, VA. Pallbearers will be Gary Henry, Tommy Stapleton, Vernon Johnson, Gary Hass, Earl Hass and Darrell Hass. Honorary Pallbearers will be fellow employees of City of Kingsport.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Wellmont Hospice and Kingsport Hematology and Oncology.

Kingsport – David Noel “Shorty” Dorton, 20, of Kingsport, went to be with his uncle Bill in Heaven on Tuesday (November 13, 2007) at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center.
He was a life long resident of Kingsport and was employed with Portola Packaging, Inc., a job he truly loved.
He was preceded in death by a very special uncle, Bill Marsh; special aunt, Marcella Samples; two other aunts and an uncle.
He is survived by his mother and step-father, Sharon Dorton Brunke and husband Peter, Kingsport; sister, Brittany Winkler, Nicklesville; brothers, J. J. Winkler, Nicklesville, Kayleff Dorton, Kingsport; maternal grandmother, Sarah Dorton, Kingsport; maternal grandfather, Lester C. Dorton, Jr., Dunnsville, VA; paternal step-grandmother, Cecile Petrie, Church Hill; very special companion Mistri Griffith, and her parents, Griff and Susan, Kingsport; the angel of his eye, Stevey Dettor, Kingsport; special aunt and uncle, Leslie and Brian Hill, Kingsport; two special cousins, Doug Dorton and Stephanie Hill, Kingsport; several great aunts, uncles and cousins.
Calling hours will be 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, (November 16, 2007) at Carter- Trent Funeral Home, Kingsport.
Funeral services will follow at 7 p.m. Friday in the funeral home chapel with Dr. Steve Hooper officiating.
Graveside services will be 12 noon Saturday (November 17, 2007) at Oak Hill Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be family and friends.

Charmie B. Jordan
Kingsport - Charmie B. Jordan, 79, Kingsport, passed away from her earthly life and entered into her eternal life with God on Thursday (October 18, 2007) at Church Hill Health Care and Rehab Center, following an extended illness.
She was a lifelong resident of Kingsport. She was retired from Holston Valley Hospital as a member of the nursing staff with over 28 years of service. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Kingsport. Following retirement she enjoyed crocheting and spending time with her family, especially her neighbors.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Ruth C. Meade; father, Lawrence Skeens; step-father, R.W. Meade; granddaughter, Missy Johnson.
She is survived by her daughter, Ann Haren, Kingsport; sons, Gary Johnson and wife Rita, Memphis, TN, Bobby Jordan and fiancée, April, Kingsport; grandchildren, Brandon Haren, and wife Rebekah, Kingsport, Doug Johnson and wife Anne, Douthan, AL, Mary Crisman, and husband Brian, Sacramento, CA, Taylor Jordan, Kingsport; she was also anxiously awaiting a new great-grandson, Jackson Lee Haren (February of 2008); special friend, Jerri Sullivan, Kingsport; along with several cousins.
Calling hours will be Saturday (October 20, 2007) from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Kingsport. Family and friends may also visit at the residence of her daughter, 139 Willowbrook Drive. Kingsport, TN 37660.
Funeral service will be 12:30 p.m. at The First Baptist Church of Kingsport with Dr. Ron Davis officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be friends.
