C. W. "Dub" Goodwin
Kingsport - C. W. “Dub” Goodwin age 81, passed away Wednesday (April 9, 2008) at his residence in Kingsport.
He was a lifelong resident of Kingsport, TN and had served in the United States Navy during WW II aboard the USS Rocky Mount. He retired from Tennessee Eastman Corporation after over 38 years of service. Mr. Goodwin was a Christian.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ella Marie Dickens Goodwin; two sisters, Willie Mae Discepoli , Velma Lee Goodwin; two brothers, Haskel Keener Goodwin; Thomas Nathan Goodwin, Jr.; and half sister, Loretta Hawk.
Mr. Goodwin is survived by his daughter, Reba Gail Stidham and husband, Kelly, Holly Hill, FL; son, James Nathan Goodwin and wife, Angie, Kingsport; grandchildren, Wesley Goodwin, Bradley Goodwin and wife, Natasha, and Shanon Stidham; two great-grandsons, Landon Blake Goodwin, Alex Peyton Goodwin; special niece, Jean Carter; several other nieces and nephews; and special family friend, Nell Wheat, Kingsport.
Calling hours will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday (April 11, 2008) at Carter-Trent Funeral Home, Kingsport.
Funeral service will follow at 7 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Dr. John Owston officiating.
Military graveside services will be conducted 10 a.m. Saturday (April 12, 2008) at Oak Hill cemetery with American Legion Post 3/265 and the Tenn. National Guard. Pallbearers will be Wayne Cross, Charles Cross, Sam Wilburn, Coy Klepper, Connie Walton, and Tommy Watts. Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home by 9 a.m. Saturday.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be sent to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

J. Paul Jones
J. Paul Jones, 90, Kingsport, Tenn., died Saturday (March 17, 2007) at Brookhaven Health Care in Kingsport, Tenn.
Mr. Jones was born in Hawkins County, Tenn. (Lee Valley), a son of the late Jessie J. and Nora (Burton) Jones, and lived in this area most of his life. He was retired from AFG Glass Plant (Blue Ridge) after over 40 years of service. He was a member of Reservoir Road Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Margaret Gilmore, Mollie Jones, and Dovie Byrd; and three brothers, Charles Jones, Kenneth Jones, and Vint Jones.
He is survived by his wife of more than 60 years, Minnie (Fink) Jones, of the home; daughter, Freda Jones, Silver Spring, Md.; sons, Roger L. Jones and wife Dee, Fall Branch, Dennis Jones, Kingsport; sister, Helen Morgan, Kingsport; grandchildren, Landon, Eric, Shang, Aaron, Andy, and Rachel; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday (March 19, 2007) at Carter-Trent Funeral Home, Kingsport.
Funeral services will be conducted in the funeral home chapel at 7 p.m. Monday, with Rev. Keith Smith officiating.
Music will be provided by Beverly Williams and Brian Henry.
Pallbearers will be the Men's Sunday School Class of Reservoir Road Baptist Church.
Interment will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday (March 20, 2007) at East Lawn Memorial Park in Kingsport, Tenn. Friends and family are asked to meet at the cemetery at 10:55 a.m. Tuesday.

Teresa Crawford
KINGSPORT - Teresa Lynn Patrick Crawford, 45 of Kingsport, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 3, 2006 at Holston Valley Medical Center.
She was a lifelong resident of Kingsport. She graduated from Sullivan Central High school and Steed's College. Teresa was employed as a medical office clerk and was a member of Fellowship Freewill Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her father, Willard H. Patrick, Sr.; John Arnold and Sophia Fields, William Patrick and Runa Patrick.
She is survived by her daughter, Bethany Lynn Crawford of Kingsport; sons, Brock Anthony Crawford of Kingsport and Christian Blake Minnick, U.S. Navy; mother and step-father, Willie Fields Byford and Rev. James Byford of Kingsport; sisters, Barbara Nidiffer and husband Ed of Bristol and Brenda Minnick and husband Ken of Kingsport; brother, Willard H. "Bill" Patrick, Jr. and wife Kathy of Kingsport; step sister, Mickie Hudson and husband Don of Berea, KY; step brother, Jimmy Byford and wife Rebecca of Louisville, KY; several nieces, nephews, uncles and cousins.
Calling hours will be from 5-7 PM Saturday August 5, 2006 at Fellowship Freewill Baptist Church, 2313 Portland Ave, Kingsport, TN. Funeral services will follow at 7:00 PM at the church with Pastor Jeff Davis officiating. Music will be provided by the Church Choir and Gail Taylor.
Graveside services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Sunday at Chestnut Flats Church cemetery, (Lucy Road) Kingsport. Pallbearers will be Jason Nidiffer, Jonathan Nidiffer, Justin Nidiffer, Derek Sparks, Travis Lady, Dalton Lady, Hank McQueen and Roger Hickman. Those who wish to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the cemetery at 1:55 PM.
The family would like to thank the 3rd Floor Nursing Staff , Wilcox Hall, Holston Valley Medical Center and its doctors.

Bryan Snodgrass
KINGSPORT - Bryan Wayne Snodgrass, 33 of Kingsport, passed away on Sunday, July 2, 2006 , at his residence.
He was born in San Diego, CA, before moving to Kingsport. Bryan enjoyed fishing and NASCAR.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Columbus and Pearl Dickerson, an aunt, Martha Adams and a very special cousin, Robert Bright.
He is survived by his fiancee, Belinda Evans, special step-children, Hunter Howell, Sabrina White and Hope Evans; mother and step-father, Judy and Tom Overbay; father, Herbert Snodgrass; sisters, Regina White and husband Steve and Shawna Vermillion; step-sisters, Tammy HoHensee and husband Junior and Tina Gleason and husband Larry; step-brothers, Robert Overbay and wife April and Tommy Overbay; aunts, Mary Goins, Blanch Pierson and Betty Dorton and special cousin, Rick Howe

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 PM Friday in the funeral home chapel, with Pastor David Salley officiating. Burial will follow in Tri-Cities Memory Gardens. Friends will serve as pallbearers.

David Lee Ramey
Kingsport - Sgt. David Lee Ramey, 79, of Kingsport, TN, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 5, 2006, at Bristol Hospice House following a brief illness.
Born in Ft. Blackmore, VA, he had lived in several areas of the U.S. before moving to Kingsport six years ago. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and Air Force, having served in WW II, Korea and Vietnam. David was of the Baptist faith.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Elaine Ramey; his parents, Sylvan and Sallie Mae Rhodes Ramey; a daughter, Kimberly Iverson Ramey and brothers, Conley Ramey and Dewey Ramey.
Surviving are his daughter, Rhonda Frix and husband Greg of Greeneville, GA; three sons, Davie L. Ramey of Washington, PA, Michael Ramey and wife Becky of Kingsport and Darrel Bellamy and wife Brenda of Jackson, TN; eleven grandchildren, Joshua Ramey, Caleb Ramey, Aaron Ramey, Shekinah Ramey, Billy Ramey, Jessica Ramey, Robin Thompson, Krist Santallanes, Tina Bellamy, Melissa Bellamy, and Christopher Bellamy; nineteen great-grandchildren; one brother, Conrad Ramey of Coeburn, VA along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Calling hours are from 5 - 7 pm on Thursday, July 6, 2006 at Carter-Trent Funeral Home of Church Hill or anytime at the residence, 207 Patterson Road, Kingsport. Military Graveside services will be held at 1 pm on Friday, July 7, 2006 at Mountain Home National cemetery, Mountain Home, TN conducted by the American Legion Hammond Post # 3 and Gate City Post #265. Pallbearers will be the American Legion Color Guard. It is requested that family and friends meet at the cemetery by 12:55 pm.

Shirley Mae Russell
Kingsport - Shirley Greene Russell, 68, of Kingsport, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 24, 2006, at Wellmont Bristol Hospice House.
Shirley was born in Kingsport, where she had lived her entire life, and was an employee of Kingsport Press, working in the Photographic Department, retiring after 35 years of service. She was a member of Apostolic Lighthouse Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Russell; her parents, Sam and Mabel Cookenour Greene and her sister, Betty Jo Childers.
Surviving are her daughter, Debbie Tipton and husband Tim of Church Hill; three grandchildren, Erik Pendleton, Jennifer Pendleton and Haley Tipton; two great-grandchildren, Destiny and Dillon; her sister, Janie Wright; three brothers, Sam Greene, Jr of Danville, IL, Elwood Greene, Kingsport and Jimmy Greene and wife Vicki of Kingsport along with several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours are from 5-7 pm on Tuesday, June 27, 2006 at Carter-Trent Funeral Home, Kingsport. Funeral services will follow at 7 pm in the funeral home chapel with Bishop G.D. Peters and Rev. Mike Vicars, officiating.
Graveside services will be held at 11 am on Wednesday, June 28, 2006 at Oak Hill cemetery, Kingsport. It is requested that family and friends meet at the cemetery by 10:55 am.

Edith McCracken
FALL BRANCH, TN - Edith Lucille Brewer McCracken, 81 of Fall Branch, went to be with the Lord on Monday July 17, 2006 at Church Hill Health Care & Rehab Center.
She was born in Wise County, VA (Tom's Creek) and had lived in Nickelsville until late in life, when she moved to the Kingsport area. She was of the Baptist faith.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl McCracken in 1967; her parents, Lida F. Brewer and Elizabeth Osborne Brewer; sister, Thelma Raymer; and a brother, Basil Brewer.
She is survived by her daughters, Teresa Garvin and husband Steven of California and Anita Renea Patrick and husband Billy of Kingsport; sons, Rev. Glenn McCracken and wife Tammy of Fall Branch and Kennith McCracken and wife Vickie of Church Hill; grandchildren, Kevin McCracken, Kareston Bryant, Jason McCracken, Shane McCracken and Amanda Patrick; five great-grandchildren and one expected in October 2006; a special niece, Trish Kilgore and husband Teddy and special nephews Bob Raymer and Delmer Raymer all of Nickelsville, as well as, several other nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be from 5-8 PM Wednesday July 19, 2006 at Carter-Trent Funeral Home, Kingsport or friends may call anytime at the residence, 191 Morgan Lane, Fall Branch, TN.
Services will be conducted at 10:00 AM Thursday in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Luther Russell officiating. Burial will follow at Nickelsville cemetery. Pallbearers will be grandsons.
The family would like to thank the Church Hill Healthcare and Rehab Center for all they did during Mrs. McCracken's sickness.
