BRANNON, Walter J., 84, a resident of Fayetteville, died Sunday (Feb. 12, 2006) at Lincoln Medical Center. After working for 35 years for Union Carbide in Texas City, Texas, he retired and went back to work as a tour bus driver for the U.S. Space and Rocket Center in Huntsville and for Capitol Trailways. He was a member of the Prospect Baptist Church and a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army. One daughter, Jana Ladell Brannon, and one son, Walter J. Brannon, Jr., preceded him in death. Survivors include his wife, Linda Elmore Brannon of Fayetteville; one daughter, Dianne Dean of St. Stephens, Ala.; two brothers, Paul Brannon of Argyle, Texas and Wilson Brannon of Ft. BUNTLEY, Barbara, 64, a resident of Lewisburg, died Monday (Feb. 13, 2006) at Marshall Medical Center in Lewisburg. She was a former employee of CTS Manufacturing. Ms. Buntley was of the Baptist faith and she attended Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Fayetteville. Her mother, Mildred Anderton Watson, preceded her in death. Survivors include a daughter, Joanie Hardiman, and a son, Freddie Buntley, both of Fayetteville; father and stepmother, Fred Watson, Jr., and Mary Watson of Paducah; brother, Jim Watson of Lone Oak; a niece and nephew; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. COUCH, Geraldine, 87, of Fayetteville, died Monday (Feb. 20, 2006) at her residence. As a young lady, Mrs. Couch traveled to San Diego, Calif., and worked for an aircraft manufacturing company during World War II. She was a teacher and was married
to Otis Raymond Couch. They were the former owners of the Highway 64 Drive-In and Piggly Wiggly grocery. She was a member of the Washington Street Church of Christ. Survivors include two sons, Dennis Ray Couch and Tommy J. Couch, both of Fayetteville; a grandson, Dylan Couch; and a brother, Karl Farrar of Mobile, Ala. CREEL, Larry, 67, of Taft, died Friday (Feb. 17, 2006) at Lincoln Medical Center. Mr. Creel was a native of Birmingham, Ala., and son of the late Kazan and Marion Moore Creel. He worked in machine maintenance for Revlon, was an Army veteran and a Green Beret Special Forces trained at Fort Campbell, Ky. DORNING, Kenneth Ray, 68, a resident of Fayetteville, died Thursday (Feb. 16, 2006) at Crestwood Medical Center after an extended illness. He was a native of Lincoln County, had been in the restaurant business since 1965 and owner of Ken�s Fast Foods from 1973 to 2001. He was a long-time member of Prospect Baptist Church and a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Irving Dorning and Clarice Dorning, and two sisters, Helen Hudson and JoAnn Dorning. SULLIVAN, Kathleen Robinson, 96, of Fayetteville, died Friday (Feb. 17, 2006). A native of Lincoln County, she was the daughter of the late Kelly H. and Mamie Hamilton Robinson. She was a teacher and homemaker, a graduate of Lincoln County High School at "Rocky Knob" and Tennessee College at Murfreesboro in 1931 where she was active in numerous activities. She was also a member of the Washington Street Church of Christ. Brother Wainscott was a native of Lockland, Ohio, son of the late Carl & Rena Hayes Wainscott, minister of the Caldwell Chapel Church of God, a member of the Gum Springs Baptist Church, a substitute teacher in Lincoln County, a teacher in Kentucky, a gospel singer and musician and archived in England as a minister�s minister. He was a native of Lincoln County, son of the late James Buford "Boots" Williams and the late Mable T. West Williams. He was a retired truck driver, a Navy veteran and a member of the Presbyterian Church. Along with his parents, Mr. Williams was preceded in death by one son, James "Boo" Williams. WILLIAMS, CARL WAYNE, 54, of Mountain Home, Idaho, was killed in an auto accident with his brother, Homer, on Friday (Oct. 27, 2006) near King Hill, Idaho. No funeral services are planned. Carl was born on May 25, 1952 in Fayetteville to Rufus and Lena Williams. He was raised and schooled in Tennessee. In 1972, he enlisted in the United States Air Force. Carl served during Vietnam, Desert Shield and Desert Storm. He served over 20 years and was stationed at bases throughout the world. He retired from the Air Force as a master sergeant. Carl enjoyed fishing and being in the outdoors. He is survived by his daughter, Angela, and her husband, Scott Harter of Boise; his son, Kevin Williams of Mountain Home; three grandchildren; his sister, Margaret Campbell; two brothers, Leon and Ray Williams, all of Fayetteville. Homer was born Feb. 4, 1949 in Fayetteville to Rufus and Lena Williams. Homer was raised and schooled in Tennessee. He served 26 years in the United States Air Force and retired as a master sergeant. During his years of service, he served in Vietnam and at numerous bases throughout the world. Homer enjoyed fishing, bow hunting and being in the outdoors. He also enjoyed working at and was a department manager at the Mountain Home Wal-Mart. Homer is survived by his son, John "Chris" Williams; his daughter, Patricia Williams; and one grandchild, all of Peoria, Ariz.; his sister, Margaret Campbell; two brothers, Leon and Ray Williams, all of Tennessee. COLBERT, WILMA JEANETTE, of Belvidere died Friday (Oct. 27, 2006) at Southern Tennessee Medical Center. She was 71. A native of Lincoln County, she was the daughter of the late James Tilman Rich and Mattie Belle Pickett Rich. She was a registered nurse, having graduated from Vanderbilt University’s School of Nurse in 1956. She worked 30 years for the State of Tennessee Department of Health, serving three years as a regional supervisor. Mrs. Colbert was also a member of the Belvidere Cumberland Presbyterian Church. She was preceded in death by her sister, Elinda Rich Colbert. She is survived by her husband, Robert E. Colbert of Belvidere; one son, Richard Lynn Colbert and his wife, Jamie, of Belvidere; one brother, Walton L. Rich and his wife, Mary, of Winchester; two grandsons, Chas D. McBee of Belvidere and Richard C. Colbert, also of Belvidere; and two nieces, Geraldine Syler of Dallas and Linda Lovvorn of Knoxville. NIX, WOODY, 85, of Fayetteville, died Thursday (Oct. 26, 2006) at Huntsville Hospital. He was a native of Moore County and the son of the late David Martin Hix and the late Rosa Ann Edgeman Hix. He was a musician and was self-employed in the pawn shop business. Mr. Hix was a veteran of World War II, a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2167 and a member of the Baptist Church. HOLLOWAY, VERA MAE, of Huntland died Wednesday (Oct. 25, 2006) at her residence. She was 79. Mrs. Holloway was a native of Shelbyville and a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, P.T. Holloway Sr., her son, P.T. Holloway Jr., and two brothers and one sister. Survivors include two daughters, Marti Fate of Grants Pass, Ore., and Patricia Ann Van Etten of Leesburg, Fla.; one son, Greg Holloway and his wife, Sarah, of Charleston, S.C.; one sister, Virginia Waggoner of Huntland; 14 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. MCCALL, JAMES ROBERT, of Frankewing died Saturday evening (Oct. 28, 2006) at NHC of Pulaski. He was 81. Mr. McCall was retired from the U.S. Navy and was an accomplished musician. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Nannie Graham McCall, his son, William Robert McCall and brother, J.C. McCall. Survivors include his wife, Margaret Beasley McCall of Frankewing; one daughter, Barbara L. Mitchell of Frankewing; one grandson, David M. Mitchell and his wife, Allison, of McBurg; one granddaughter, Lea Ann Hinton of Frankewing; great-grandchildren, McKenzie, Emily, Nancy and Fredi Mitchell and McCallea Hinton; and two brothers, Jack McCall of Eagleville and Joe McCall of Unionville. POOLE, DOROTHY ANN, of Fayetteville died Saturday (Oct. 28, 2006) in Huntsville Hospital. She was 71. Mrs. Poole was a native of Lincoln County and the daughter of the late James Thurston and Jewel Hazelwood English. She was a retired seamstress for Lincoln Manufacturing and a member of the Camargo Church of Christ. She is survived by two daughters, Linda Dye and Donna Shae Miles, both of Texas; two sons, Jerry Poole of Fayetteville and Allen Poole of Nashville; one brother, Jimmy English of Fayetteville; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. RANKIN, HARLEY EUGENE, age 76, of Cornersville, died Sunday (Oct. 29, 2006) at the Maury County hospital. Mr. Rankin was a native of Laager, son of the late Clarence Redous Rankin and the late Ora Smartt Rankin. He was a truck driver, a Navy veteran and a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Along with his parents, Mr. Rankin was preceded in death by a son, Gregory Elwood Rankin. Survivors include his wife, Ethylene Braden Rankin of Cornersville; daughters, Yvonne Stubblefield of Frankewing and Jeanette Rankin of Petersburg; sons, Dennis Victor Rankin and John Reed Rankin, both of Cornersville; sister, Juanita Jenson of Ocean Side, Calif.; six grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted today (Wednesday) at 10 a.m. in the chapel of the Gallant Funeral Home with Elder Johnny Johnson officiating.
