James C. Booher
Retired Y-12 security officer

James C. Booher, 78, of Oakdale, died Monday evening, July 27, 1998, at the University of Tennessee Medical Center at Knoxville.

Mr. Booher was retired from Union Carbide Nuclear Division as a security officer at the Oak Ridge Y-12 Plant.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Mr. Booher was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church. He was also a 32nd-degree Mason and a member of Adoniram Council No. 0114 Cryptic Masons of Oak Ridge Lodge.

He is survived by his wife, Edna Leopper Booher; a daughter, Sandra Epperson of Bristol, Va.; a son, Larry Booher and his wife, Dianne, of Seymour; a sister, Sylvia Jennings of Staten Island, N.Y.; and a granddaughter and two great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be held at 8 tonight, July 29, in the chapel of Schubert Funeral Home in Wartburg with the Rev. Clayton Duncan and the Rev. Randall Landrum officiating.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 30, at Oak Ridge Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at the funeral home.

Clyde Wilford Buhl
Father of local residents

Clyde Wilford Buhl, 76, of Strawberry Plains, died Thursday, July 9, 1998, at Hillcrest North Health Care Center in Knoxville.

Mr. Buhl was self-employed as a farmer.

He was born Jan. 18, 1922, in Spring Hill, Tenn., the son of John and Ella Blazier Buhl. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, achieving the rank of private first class.

Mr. Buhl is survived by two daughters, Wanda Evans and her husband, Harry, of Oak Ridge, and Louise Burdette and her husband, Ricky, of Mount Airy, Md.; and seven sons, Wilford Buhl and his wife, Betty, of Powell, Sam Buhl and his wife, Judy, and Marvin Buhl and his wife, Libby, all of Knoxville, Frank Buhl and his wife, Patricia, of Strawberry Plains, Johnnie Buhl and his wife, Cindy, of Clinton, and Don Buhl and his wife, Becky, and Wilburn Buhl, all of Westminster, Md.

He is also survived by two sisters, Audrey Stooksbury of Andersonville and Mary Bean of Franklin; a brother, Bill Buhl of Morrow, Ga.; and by several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

Dorothy Harbin of Knoxville is the mother of his children.

Three sisters and three brothers, Lillian Babb, Artie Stooksbury, Bertha Abbott, Gleason Buhl, Elmer Buhl and Otis Buhl, died earlier.

The funeral was held Sunday, July 12, in the chapel of Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton with the Rev. David Cardwell officiating.

Burial followed at Grandview Memorial Gardens in Clinton.

Helen Eaton McNees
Sister of Oak Ridge resident

Helen Eaton McNees, 81, of 425 W. Pine Street, Johnson City, died Wednesday, Feb. 18, 1998, at Johnson City Medical Center.

Mrs. McNees was the sister of R.A. McNees Jr. of Oak Ridge.

She was a native and lifelong resident of Johnson City and the daughter of R.A. McNees Sr. and Medora Eaton McNees. She was a retired medical secretary with Mountain Home VA Medical Center.

Mrs. McNees was a lifelong member of First Presbyterian Church in Johnson City, where she was active in the Ann King Class and Circle No. 3. She had been active in the Garden Council, the Monday Club Auxiliary and the Twelfth Nighters Card Club.

In addition to her brother, she is survived by four nephews, and several grandnieces and grandnephews.

Another brother, James W. McNees, died earlier.

The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 21, in the South Chapel of Morris-Baker Funeral Home, 2001 Oakland Ave., Johnson City. The Rev. Angus R. Shaw will officiate.

Burial will follow at Oak Hill cemetery in Johnson City. Family members will serve as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Ralph James Carden
Clinton resident

Ralph James Carden, 81, of Clinton, died this morning, Feb. 20, 1998, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 22, at Clear Branch Baptist Church in Lake City.

Burial will follow at the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 21, at Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton.

Betty Jenkins Cox
Beech Park Baptist member

Betty Louise Jenkins Cox, 61, of Oliver Springs died Wednesday, Feb. 18, 1998, at her home, surrounded by her family.

Mrs. Cox was a member of Beech Park Baptist Church in Oliver Springs.

She was born in Newport on Jan. 18, 1937, the daughter of Herman Frank and Nannie Louise Jenkins, both now deceased. She and her husband, Lowell "Mickey" Cox, by whom she is survived, together raised five children.

Mrs. Cox left a legacy of faith and love, according to her family, "We have no doubt that we shall someday be reunited with her," one member said.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by three daughters, Vickey Brown and her husband, Dennis, of Loudon, Cathy Russell and her husband, Mike, of Oliver Springs, and Melissa Wrinkle and her husband, John, of Harriman; two sons, Steve Cox and his wife, Sherry, and Mike Cox and his wife, Crickett, all of Oliver Springs; and four brothers, Gary Jenkins of Oak Ridge, Charles Jenkins of Oliver Springs, Blaine Jenkins of Jonesboro, Ga., and Tommy Jenkins of Columbus, Miss.

Mrs. Cox is also survived by 10 grandchildren, Amy Cox, Stephanie McColl and her husband, David, Michael Paul Cox and his wife, Nova, Kristy Cox, Matthew Brown, Mandi Russell, Scotty Russell, Haley Russell, Corey Wrinkle and Steve Milbourn; great-grandchildren Samantha McColl, Shanna McColl and Sydnee Aliyah Cox, who is due to be born in June; and by several nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, another brother, James Jenkins, died earlier.

The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 21, in the chapel of Sharp Funeral Home in Oliver Springs with the Rev. Kenneth Stubbs and the Rev. Tommy Hensley officiating.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 22, at Oliver Springs cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

The family requests any memorials be in the form of donations to Feed the Children Foundation, P.O. Box 36, Oklahoma City, OK 73101.

Harold L. Seekins
Father of Clinton resident

Harold L. Seekins, 87, of Palm Harbor, Fla., died Saturday, Jan. 24, 1998, in Palm Harbor.

Mr. Seekins was the father of Norma Spejewski of Clinton and a frequent visitor to Oak Ridge and Clinton, where he often shared his wood collection and craftsmanship with community groups.

Born in Waterville, Maine, he began his professional career with the General Electric Co., in Lynn, Mass. Initially a technician apprentice, he became a registered professional engineer (the first in the state of Ohio without a college degree), retiring after 40 years of service as a senior advisory engineer for the Aircraft Engines Department in Evandale, Ohio.

At GE, he was a member of the prestigious Elfun Society and received what his family described as the extremely coveted Coffin Award for a major technical advancement.

Mr. Seekins served for a short time in the U.S. Marine Corps and was an officer in several engineering societies. Moving to Florida shortly after his retirement, he became very active in the International Wood Collectors Society, which served as an outlet for his technical and creative interests, as well as a major social activity for him and his wife.

In addition to his local daughter and her husband, Eugene Spejewski, he is survived by his wife of 61 years, Beatrice Martel Seekins; a son, Steven S. Seekins and his wife, Naomi, of Annandale, Va.; a daughter, Sheila Seekins of Washington, Maine; local grandchildren Maria LeTellier, Beverly Spejewski, now of Philadelphia, Pa., Andrew Spejewski and Jeannette Phillips; and three great-grandchildren, living in Knoxville.

A funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Ignatius Church, Tarpon Springs, Fla. Burial was at Palm Harbor.

Frances Parks Fillauer
Mother of Keys Fillauer

Frances Parks Fillauer of Cleveland, Tenn., died Tuesday, March 10, 1998, in Cleveland.

Mrs. Fillauer was the mother of Keys Fillauer of Oak Ridge, a teacher and basketball coach at Oak Ridge High School.

She was born and raised in Cleveland and was a member of Broad Street United Methodist Church there.

In addition to her son and his wife, Melanie Fillauer, Mrs. Fillauer is survived by her husband, William "Bill" K. Fillauer, a retired attorney; a daughter, Rita McKinney of Cleveland; three grandchildren, Parks Fillauer of Oak Ridge and Lisa McKinney and Laura McKinney, both of Cleveland; and a sister, Nancy Taylor and her husband, George R. Taylor, of Cleveland.

The funeral will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, March 14, at Broad Street United Methodist Church in Cleveland.

The family will receive friends from noon to 2:30 p.m. Saturday at the church.

The family requests any memorials be in the form of donations to the Capital Campaign Fund for the Ronald McDonald House, Attn: Sue Beverly, 1705 Clinch Ave., Knoxville, TN 37916.

Joy Daugherty
Lake City resident

Joy Daugherty, 53, of Lake City, died Monday, July 13,1998, at her home.

Miss Daugherty is survived by a sister, Faye Duncan of Lake City; and by two brothers, Doug Daugherty and his wife, Donna, of Dutch Valley, and Frank Daugherty and his wife, Janice, of Briceville.

The funeral will be held at 8 tonight, July 14, in the chapel of Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Lake City with the Rev. Carl Sharp officiating.

A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, July 15, at Circle cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at the funeral home.

Lucille Parli Keim
Retired from Bank of Oak Ridge

Lucille Dickey Parli Keim, 92, of the Oak Ridge Retirement Community, died Monday, March 9, 1998, at the retirement center, where she had lived since March 1997.

Mrs. Keim and her husband, Chris P. Keim, who survives her, came to Oak Ridge from Pittsburgh, Pa., in 1944. They lived at 98-C Outer Drive until 1947, when they moved to 102 Orchard Lane, and lived there until they moved to the retirement center.

Mrs. Keim was earlier employed at the Bank of Oak Ridge, a NationsBank predecessor, and was assistant vice president at the time of her retirement in 1971. Her family said she thoroughly enjoyed her relationship with bank employees and the public.

She was born in Pawnee City, Neb., on Feb. 12, 1906, the daughter of William Jacob and Mamie Dickey Parli, both now deceased. She and her husband met in 1926 as students at Nebraska Wesleyan University. They were married at her parents' rural home in Pawnee City on June 25, 1929. The Keims would have celebrated their 69th wedding anniversary in June.

Before moving to Oak Ridge, Mrs. Keim worked as a secretary in the legal and engineering fields and helped support her husband in his graduate studies at the University of Nebraska.

The Keims both retired in 1971 and traveled extensively with family members in the United States and Europe. Her family said she established contact with relatives in Switzerland who were part of her father's family.

Mrs. Keim was a member of First United Methodist Church and a life member of the United Methodist Women. She was also a member of Chapter G of the PEO Sisterhood in Oak Ridge and of the Order of Eastern Star in Lincoln, Neb.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by two children, Virginia Ann Hayes and her husband, Clarke, of Palatine, Ill., and Robert Christopher Keim and his wife, Tammy, of Nashville; three grandchildren, Kimberly Kathleen Hayes and Clarke Christopher Hayes, both of Palatine, and Jessica Smith and her husband, Chris, of Nashville; and three great-grandchildren, Megan Smith, Josh Smith and Jacob Christopher Keim, all of Nashville.

A sister, Bernice Hendricks of Sacramento, Calif., died earlier.

The funeral will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, March 13, at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Ken Henderlight officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 3 p.m. Friday at the church.

The family requests any memorials be in the form of donations to First United Methodist Church, 1350 Oak Ridge Turnpike, Oak Ridge, TN 37830.

Robert Odell Stooksbury
Retired TVA boilermaker

Robert Odell Stooksbury, 77, of Norris, died Tuesday, March 10, 1998, at St. Mary's Medical Center in Knoxville.

Mr. Stooksbury was employed as a boilermaker for the Tennessee Valley Authority from 1953 through 1976. He was a member of the Boilermaker Union Local No. 453 of Knoxville.

Born in Anderson County on Sept. 28, 1920, he was the son of Sherman and Elizabeth Stooksbury, both now deceased.

Mr. Stooksbury was a member of First Baptist Church of Norris and of the Andersonville Masonic Lodge No. 383.

He is survived by a daughter, Nancy Stooksbury of Knoxville; two sons, Jim Stooksbury and his wife, Peggy, of Norris and Tom Stooksbury and his wife, Linda, of Atlanta, Ga.; a sister, Flo Stott of Haleyville, Ala.; a granddaughter, Emily Stooksbury of Knoxville; and by several nieces and nephews.

His wife, Anna Louise Stooksbury, died earlier.

The funeral will be held at 8 p.m. Thursday, March 12, in the chapel of Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton with the Rev. Wayne Provence officiating.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, March 13, at Norris Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
