Edward Gibson, 71, of Clinton, died this morning, June 12, 1998, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge.
Mr. Gibson had retired from Martin Marietta Energy Systems after working for 20 years as an electrician, beginning when the Department of Energy facilities were managed by Union Carbide Nuclear Division.
He was born in Detroit, Mich., on Feb. 19, 1927, the son of Charles and Mary Wild Gibson. He was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II.
Mr. Gibson was a member of Faith Bible Fellowship in Oak Ridge.
He is survived by his wife, Joan R. Gibson; two daughters, Terry Johnson and her husband, Edwin, of Knoxville and Sharon Honeycutt and her husband, Steve, of Chattanooga; two sons, Christopher Gibson and his wife, Phyllis, of Kingsport and Ernie Gibson and his wife, Twylia, of Claxton; a sister, Mary Ann Gibson of Detroit; a brother, James Wild Gibson of Detroit; and by nine grandchildren.
Two brothers, Charles Gibson and John Gibson, died earlier.
The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, June 15, in the chapel of McCarty-Martin Oak Ridge Funeral Home with the Rev. Chris Bunn officiating.
Burial will follow at McCarty Woodhaven Memory Gardens in Claxton.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, June 14, at the funeral home.

Warren Headlee Henderson
Former AEC director of finance

Warren Headlee Henderson, 86, of 104 W. Pasadena Lane, died Thursday, June 11, 1998, at his home.
Mrs. Henderson, a certified public accountant, had more than 36 years of federal service, 22 of them in Oak Ridge. He held his last position, director of finance of the Atomic Energy Commission's Oak Ridge Operations office, from 1964 until he retired in 1974.
He had lived in Oak Ridge since 1952. He was a member of First United Methodist Church and had been active in his church and in community activities, the family said.
Born Feb. 28, 1912, in Indianola, Iowa, he was the son of the Rev. Virgil W. and Mary Headlee Henderson, who are now deceased. Mr. Henderson attended Simpson College and was a graduate of the University of Nebraska.
He and his wife, the former Marie Burket of Minburn, Iowa, were married
on May 18, 1935, in Dunlap, Iowa. When she died, the Hendersons had been married
for 57 years.
During World War II, Mr. Henderson served as a communications officer with the U.S. Navy in the South Pacific.
He was a member and past officer of the National Association of Accountants. He held memberships in the American Institute of CPA, Tennessee Society of CPA and the Federal Government Accountants Association.
Mr. Henderson is survived by two daughters and their husbands, Sherrill and Richard Mortenson of Charlotte, N.C., and Barbara and Thomas Casey of Oak Ridge; four grandchildren, Eric Mortenson and his wife, Jeannine, and Sean Mortenson, all of Charlotte, Bridget Casey Davies and her husband, Yann, of Brighton, England, and Timothy Casey of Oak Ridge; and by several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
A memorial service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 17, at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Ken Henderlight officiating. The family will receive friends in the church parlor beginning at 2 p.m., and also following the service.
Graveside services will be held in Minburn, Iowa.

Mr. Pyles is survived by his wife, June McGhee Pyles; two children, Joshua and Kimberly, both of Caryville; five sisters, Evelyn Bruce of LaFollette and Stella Lasley, Ruth Pyles, Margie McGhee and her husband, Jimmie, and Sue Standridge and her husband, W.B., all of Caryville; and two brothers, Horace Pyles of Caryville and Bill Mac Pyles and his wife, Mary, of Jacksboro.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 13, in the chapel of Cox-Martin Funeral Home in Lake City.
Burial will follow at New Vasper cemetery in Caryville.

Freida Simmons, 49, of Oak Ridge, died Wednesday, June 10, 1998, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville.
A former employee of the city of Oak Ridge, Miss Simmons had worked for the city for more than 20 years.
Miss Simmons was born in Roane County on Jan. 16, 1949. She was a former resident of Oliver Springs and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
She is survived by her mother, Jean Simmons of Oliver Springs; two sisters, Sandra Adkins and her husband, Harold, of Clinton and Janine Woods and her husband, Jeff, of Oliver Springs; a brother, Bryan Simmons of Oliver Springs; two aunts, Audrey Wood and Shirley Yaggi, both of Clinton; an uncle, Joe Freels of Karns; and nieces and nephews Paula McDonald and her husband, Paul, Deene Jenkins and her husband, Justin, and Eli Woods and Ali Woods, all of Oliver Springs.
Her father, Earl W. Simmons, is deceased.
A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. Saturday, June 13, at Calvary Baptist Church with the Rev. Steve McDonald officiating.

Anna Mae Morgan Cook, 77, of Oliver Springs, died Sunday, June 28, 1998, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge.
Mrs. Cook worked for many years in the cafeteria at Oliver Springs Elementary School. She was a Baptist.
She was born in Anderson County on June 6, 1921, the daughter of Jesse and Lula Wilkerson Stringer, who are now deceased. She was the widow of Carl Cook.
Mrs. Cook is survived by five daughters, Charlotte LeGasse, Marion June Morgan, Glen Woods and her husband, Billy "Buck" Woods, Helen Ashley and her husband, Warren, and Sherri Hopper and her husband, Julian, all of Oliver Springs; and two sons, Russell Morgan and his wife, Nora, of Oliver Springs, and Roy Hunter and his wife, Ruth Ellen, of Andover, Ohio.
She is also survived by three stepchildren, Brenda Carter of Chattanooga, Ralph Cook and his wife, Karen, of Hammond, Ind., and Wanda Forsythe and her husband, Alvin, of Oliver Springs; two brothers, Robert Stringer and Osbie Stringer and his wife, Julie Ann, all of Oneida; and by 13 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
A grandson, Billy Dean Woods, and a stepson, Clayton Cook, both died earlier.
The funeral will be held at 8:30 tonight, June 30, in the chapel of Sharp Funeral Home in Oliver Springs with the Rev. Tommy Hensley officiating.
A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 1, at Anderson Memorial Gardens, Oliver Springs Highway, Clinton.

Jasper "Jap" Sevier Prosise, 81, of Briceville, died Monday, June 29, 1998, at his home.
Mr. Prosise was a member of Laurel Branch Baptist Church of Briceville.
He was born in Briceville on March 15, 1917, the son of Joe and Nancy Ellen Prosise. He was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II.
Mr. Prosise is survived by his wife, Pauline White Prosise; three daughters, Sharon Nance and her husband, Roger, Becky Wilson and her husband, Abe, and Debbie Seiber and her husband, J.V., all of Lake City; and four sons, Gary Prosise and his wife, Kathy, and Rickey Prosise and his wife, Theresa, all of Briceville, and Joey Prosise and Michael Prosise, both of Lake City.
He is also survived by two sisters, Ruby Phillips of Harriman and Bonnie Vandergriff of Powell; and by 12 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Three other sisters, Edith Prosise, Reba Smith and Nila Jane Prosise, died earlier.
The funeral will be held at 8:30 tonight, June 30, in the chapel of Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Lake City with the Rev. Houston Carroll officiating.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 1, at Circle cemetery in Briceville.

Mr. Rogers was retired as an automobile mechanic with Montgomery Ward.
He was born in Knoxville on Jan. 30, 1935, the son of Earl N. and Jeanette Youngblood Rogers, who are now deceased.
Mr. Rogers is survived by two aunts, Lois Johnson of Knoxville and Helen Babb of Oliver Springs; three uncles, Paul Rogers and his wife, Lucille, of Oak Ridge, Roy Rogers of Wartburg and Bobby Rogers and his wife, Shirley, of Knoxville; and by several cousins and other relatives.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 1, at Oak Ridge Memorial Park with the Rev. Fred Garmon officiating.

David Charles Beets, 54, of Clinton, died Tuesday, July 28, 1998, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge.
Mr. Beets was retired as a supervisor with Acme Construction Co.
He was born in Anderson County on June 25, 1944, the son of Moss and Nina Collins Beets.
Mr. Beets was a member of Community Baptist Church of Clinton. His family and going camping in his motor home were his favorite hobbies, the family said.
He is survived by his wife, Joann Summers Beets; two daughters, Frances White and her husband, Jeff, and Vetta Brown and her husband, Billy, all of Clinton; four sisters, Martha Beets and Bobbie Evans and her husband, Tommy, all of Clinton, and Kaye Bice and Joyce Bates and her husband, Harold, all of Knoxville; and five brothers, Wayne Beets and his wife, Carlene, Layton Beets and his wife, Joyce, Moss Beets and his wife, Lucille, J.D. Beets and his wife, Sue, and Dennis Beets, all of Clinton.
Mr. Beets is also survived by grandchildren Joanna and William Brown of Clinton and Danielle Hoskins; a sister-in-law, Peggy Beets of Clinton; his mother-in-law, Nancy Summers of Clinton; and several nieces and nephews.
Another brother, Kenneth Beets, died earlier.
The funeral will be held at 8:30 p.m. Thursday, July 30, in the chapel of Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton with the Rev. Jimmy Davidson officiating.
A graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 31, at Grandview Memorial Gardens in Clinton.
