Johnnie Carl Beets, 79, of Lake City Highway, Clinton, died Saturday, April 25, 1998, at his home.
Mr. Beets was retired from Allied Signal Co., in Knoxville.
He was born in Anderson County on Feb. 22, 1919, the son of John B. and Appolana Martin Beets, both now deceased. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a Baptist.
Mr. Beets is survived by his wife, Evelyn Maner Beets; a daughter, Annette Moore of Clinton; three sons, Carl E. Beets and his wife, Margaret L., of Rockwood, Jerry Thompson of Virginia Beach, Va., and Terry Byrd of Maryville; seven grandchildren, Barry, Wayne, Joseph, Robert, Tanja, Sanja and Michelle; and three great-grandchildren, Anthony, Robbie and Arron.
He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Blanche Maner of Seymour; two half-sisters, Jean Beets of Clinton and Alma Davis and her husband, the Rev. John Davis, of Knoxville; a half-brother, Laverne Beets of Michigan; and by several nieces and nephews.
A sister and a brother, Gertrude Beets and Everette Beets, died earlier.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 28, at Sherwood Memorial Garden in Knoxville with the Rev. Joe Bridges officiating. Members of the East Tennessee State Honor Guard will conduct full military rites.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight, April 27, at Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton.

Patrick Clifford Daugherty, 24, of the Beech Grove community, Lake City, died Saturday, April 25, 1998, in Lake City.
Mr. Daugherty was born in Anderson County on July 27, 1973, the son of Clifford and Roseann Daugherty of Lake City.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by a daughter, Chyenna Daugherty of Huntsville; two sisters, Amanda Michelle Daugherty of Lake City and Miranda Phillips and her husband, Mark, of Clinton; and four brothers, Tony Daugherty of Clinton, and Rodney Daugherty, Randall Daugherty and his wife, Missy, and Wendell Daugherty and his wife, Amanda, all of Lake City.
Mr. Daugherty is also survived by his grandmothers, Betty Carrole of Oliver Springs and Luevierine Daugherty of Lake City; and nieces and nephews he considered special, Paige and Savannah Daugherty and Cody and Tyler Daugherty.
Debbie Burton of Huntsville was considered a special friend.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 28, in the chapel of Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Lake City with the Rev. Clyde Daugherty and the Rev. Harvey McCoy officiating.
Burial will follow at Beech Grove cemetery in Lake City.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight, April 27, at the funeral home.

Anna Mae Jones, 67, of Lake City, died Friday, May 1, 1998, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge.
Mrs. Jones is survived by her husband, Harold Jones; three sons, Steven Jones and his wife, Gail, Ronald Jones and his wife, Deborah, and Jeffrey Jones and his wife, Peggy, all of Dayton, Ohio; and a sister, Gloria Faye Burris and her husband, Ben, of Lake City.
A graveside service was to be held at 10 this morning, May 4, at Campbell Memorial Gardens in LaFollette with the Rev. Larry Watts officiating.
Cox-Martin Funeral Home in Lake City handled arrangements.

Matilda "Mattie" Stringfield Jones, 90, of Coalfield, died Saturday, May 2, 1998, at her home.
Mrs. Jones was one of the oldest members of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church of Coalfield.
She was a homemaker and was known by many for her quilting, gardening and cooking.
Mrs. Jones was last surviving child of John A. and Nancy Silvey Stringfield. She was the widow of Fred O. Jones, to whom she had been married
for 55 years.
She is survived by three daughters, Pauline Wilson Walton and her husband, Luther, Margaret Silvey and her husband, T.W., and Roxie Seiber and her husband, Gene "J.A.", all of Coalfield; three sons, Edgar Jones and his wife, Faye, of Mossy Grove, Johnny Jones and his wife, Sandra, of Fayetteville, W.Va., and Bobby Jones and his wife, Brenda, of Taylor, Mich.; two sisters-in-law, Frankie Jones of Coalfield and Ada Jones of Michigan; and a brother-in-law she considered special, Reece A. Jones and his wife, Lynn, of Macomb, Ill.
Mrs. Jones is also survived by 20 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Daryl Ashley and Vergie Goodman were special friends and caregivers, and Eldon "Skinny" Justice and the Rev. Mack Smith were faithful visitors and friends.
A granddaughter, Kathy Lynn, a great-granddaughter, Jennifer Lynn Jones, and a son-in-law, J.D. Wilson, died earlier. Several brothers and sisters are also deceased.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 5, at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Coalfield with the Rev. Mack Smith and the Rev. Bill Edmonds officiating. The body may be viewed during the hour before the service at the church.
Burial will follow at Ritter cemetery. Pallbearers will be James Jones, Wayne Jones, Greg Seiber, Nathan Jones, Noah Beasley and Mike Silvey.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight, May 4, at Schubert Funeral Home in Wartburg.

Wilma Francis Parton, 60, of Oliver Springs, died Thursday, April 30, 1998, at Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center in Knoxville.
Mrs. Parton was a former employee of the Kroger store in Oak Ridge, where she was a florist's attendant for many years.
She was born in Clearfield on May 21, 1937, the daughter of Thomas H. and Lela Murray Giles. She had lived in Oliver Springs since early childhood.
Mrs. Parton was a member of Community Baptist Church of Oliver Springs but had been attending Faith Promise Baptist Church of Oak Ridge.
She is survived by her husband, Franklin Morice "Reece" Parton; a daughter, Lela Mae Parton Antrican and her husband, David W., of Powell; a son, Franklin Morice "Butch" Parton Jr. and his wife, Lewanna, of Oliver Springs; and five grandchildren, Amy Lynne, Tavia Michelle, J.P., Andrea and Lori Anne.
Mrs. Parton is also survived by five sisters, Alene Justice, Imogene Edmonds and Oma Kelley, all of Oliver Springs, and Billie Godfrey of Claxton and Virginia Cunningham of Knoxville; two brothers, Paul Giles of Marlow and Cecil Giles of Oak Ridge; and by several nieces and nephews.
A sister, Juanita Harrison, died earlier.
The funeral was held Sunday, May 3, in the chapel of Sharp Funeral Home in Oliver Springs with the Rev. Bill Edmonds and the Rev. Gary Smith officiating.
Burial was at Anderson Memorial Gardens in Clinton.

William Joseph "Bill" Perry, 59, died Thursday, April 30, at the Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge.
Mr. Perry was a resident of Oliver Springs, where he was born on Jan. 6, 1939.
He was a member of First Baptist Church of Oliver Springs.
He worked as a heavy equipment operator for Ridge Leasing, Walls and Coker Coal Co. and C and C Coal Co.
Survivors include his wife, Minerva Jones Perry, of Oliver Springs; two daughters, Robyn Lynn Perry of Claxton and Janet Perry Martinez and her husband, Jose, of Oak Ridge; three sons, William J. "Bill" Perry Jr. of Norris, Douglas W. Perry of Oak Ridge and Jeffrey S. Perry of Knoxville.
He is also survived by four sisters, Evelyn Jones of Coalfield, Shirley Miner and her husband, Jack, of Hastings, Mich., Mary Arms and her husband, Robert, of Sunbright, and Nancy Arms and her husband Johnny, of Wartburg; one brother, Fred Perry, and his wife, Carol, of Corryton; and seven grandchildren, Bryan Perry, Jessica Brown, Brandon Brown, Kristen Brown, Tyler Perry, Brandi Perry and Brenden Perry.
The funeral was held at 8 p.m. Saturday, May 2, in the chapel of Sharp Funeral Home with the Rev. Kenneth Stubbs and the Rev. Rick Duncan officiating. A graveside service was held Sunday, May 3, at New Fairview cemetery in Oliver Springs.

Alberta "Dimples" Mullins, 68, of Clinton, died Wednesday, May 27, 1998, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge.
Mrs. Mullins was the owner and operator of Mullins Carpet in Clinton.
She was born in Coalfield on Jan. 23, 1930, the daughter of Roger and Letha King Fagan. She was a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church of Clinton.
Mrs. Mullins is survived by four daughters, Karen Bright and her husband, Tom, of Oak Ridge, Jan Mullins of Knoxville, Ginger Parnell and her husband, Bobby, of Nashville, and Gina Worbington and her husband, Arthur, of Clinton.
She is also survived by two sisters, June Disney of Kingston and Phyllis Hanson of Oliver Springs; two brothers, Fred Fagan of Clinton and Harold Fagan of Knoxville; five grandchildren, Sonja Hill, Kristi George, Lindsay George, Lauren Bright and Emily Bright; a great-grandchild, Taylor Rae Hill; and several nieces and nephews.
Dwight Tadlock of Knoxville was considered a special friend.

Grace V. Bruner, 83, of 120 Pembroke Road, died Sunday, June 7, 1998, in Smyrna, Ga., at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Deborah and Don Gass.
Mrs. Bruner was a member of First Baptist Church.
She was born in Bell County, Ky., on Jan. 24, 1915, the daughter of Jasper and Delorah Woodward Gambrel, both now deceased.
She was the widow of Gene Bruner.
In addition to her daughter and son-in-law in Smyrna, Mrs. Bruner is survived by a daughter-in-law, Elaine Bruner of Lenoir, N.C.; seven grandchildren, Scott Bruner of Oak Ridge, Randy Bruner and Loretta Shaneybrook, both of Baltimore, Md., David Bruner and James Bruner, both of Lenoir, and Stephanie Gass and Steven Bedsole, both of Smyrna.
In addition to her husband and parents, a son, Dolas Bruner, died earlier.
The funeral was held Wednesday, June 10, in the chapel of SouthCare Memorial Chapel in Smyrna with the Rev. Snyder Turner officiating.
Burial followed at Riverview Memorial Park in Smyrna.
