Gene Hall, 51, of Heiskell, died Thursday, Aug. 13, 1998, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge.
Mr. Hall was retired from General Motors in Dayton, Ohio. He was a U.S. Navy veteran.
He was born in Dayton on April 6, 1947.
His family described him as a loving and devoted husband and father.
Mr. Hall is survived by his wife, Barbara Hall; two daughters, Gina Knox and her husband, Daniel, of Fairborn, Ohio, and Jodi Hall and her fiance, Anthony Jai Cobb of Tipp City, Okla.; two sons, Rodney Helman and his wife, Elaine, of Dayton, and Richard Helman and his wife, Marna, of Laura, Ohio; and his father, Wilbur Hall of Mount Vernon, Ohio.
He is also survived by his sister and brother, Myrtle Weaver and Michael Hall, both of Dayton; three grandchildren, Michael Knox, Alycia Helman and Kaleb Helman; and by several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
His mother, Virginia Hall, and another brother, William Hall, died earlier.
The funeral was held Tuesday morning, Aug. 18, in the chapel of Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton.
Burial followed at Grandview Memorial Gardens in Clinton.

Dorothy Gray Landphair

Dorothy Gray Landphair, 90, of Knoxville, died Wednesday, Aug. 19, 1998, at Brakebill Nursing Home in Knoxville.
Mrs. Landphair taught school in Tennessee and Alabama for more than 40 years. At various times, she lived in New Tazewell, Oak Ridge and Knoxville. She had taught school in Claiborne County and at Fairview Elementary in Anderson County, as well as in Mobile, Ala.
She was born on July 19, 1908, the daughter of John and Iona Goin, both now deceased. She was a graduate of Lincoln Memorial University and according to her family was a loyal alumna. Her family said that making and keeping friends was something Mrs. Landphair did well and easily.
Mrs. Landphair is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Joe and Sallie Gray; a stepson, Ted Landphair; a stepdaughter, Bobbie Jo Cundiff; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Among the many friendships she formed over the years were those with Octavia Humphrey and Janette Gray, and cousins Joe and Edna Rajkovich.
Her first husband, Joseph Gray, and her second husband, Al Landphair, died earlier.
The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 22, in the chapel of Claiborne County Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight, Aug. 21, at the funeral home.
Raymond Greene Stone

Raymond Greene Stone, 83, of 921 Westview Ave., Nashville, died Wednesday, Aug. 19, 1998, in Nashville.
Mr. Stone was an engineer whose career spanned 37 years with the Atomic Energy Commission in Los Alamos and Albuquerque, N.M., Washington, D.C., and Oak Ridge. His service to the country on the Manhattan Project is memorialized at the Tennessee World War II Memorial in Nashville. After his retirement in 1981, he moved to Nashville.
He was born in Maury County on June 20, 1915, the son of Thomas Alexander and Snow Dodson Stone, both now deceased. He attended Columbia High School, the University of Tennessee and the Armed Forces Industrial College.
Mr. Stone is survived by his wife, Jane Lawrence Stone; his children by his late wife, Mary Ruth Barnes, Raymond Greene Stone Jr. of Boca Raton, Fla., and Catherine Edwards Stone of Knoxville; and stepchildren Ellen Bland of Plant City, Fla., Janie Christensen of Louisville, Ky., Mimi Milward of Lexington, Ky., and Robert McCarty Stone of Frankfort, Ky.
He is also survived by two sisters, Frances Haywood of Tupelo, Miss., and Lorraine Vallado of Jackson, Miss.; his brother, Wilton Stone of Knoxville; his nephew, William Haywood of Columbia; and by 12 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
The body was been donated to Vanderbilt University Medical Center. A collumbarium service will be held at a later date.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 22, at West End United Methodist Church in Nashville.
Following the service, the family will receive friends in the church's Reed Hall.

Macie Loy Warwick, 77, of Park Lane, Andersonville, died Thursday, Aug. 20, 1998, at her home.
Mrs. Warwick was a member of Mount Olive Baptist Church in Andersonville.
She was the widow of Everette Warwick. Her parents, J.H. and Nellie Loy, are also deceased.
Mrs. Warwick is survived by two daughters, Judith Bowling and her husband, David, of Heiskell, and Norma Gray and her husband, Ron, of Andersonville; four grandchildren, Sharon Irwin and her husband, Robert, Shannon Gray and her fiance, Tad Howard, David Bowling Jr. and his wife, Victoria, and Matthew Bowling and his wife, Becky; and a great-granddaughter, Madison Bowling.
She is also survived by five sisters, Sylvia Brown and Elizabeth Sherwood, both of Oak Ridge, Mervic Holbert of Knoxville, Evelyn Burden of Oliver Springs and Jewell Webber of Powell; two brothers, Ventley Loy of Clinton and Linton Loy of Garden City, Mich.; and by several nieces and nephews.
David Archer of Clinton and Lillian Carroll of Knoxville were considered special friends.
The funeral will be held at 8:30 tonight, Aug. 21, in the chapel of Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton with the Rev. Clyde Gray and the Rev. Bill Ellis officiating.
Burial will follow at Mount Olive Baptist Church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 tonight at the funeral home.
Rebecca Bryson Blair
Americans with Disabilities director

Rebecca Ann "Becky" Bryson Blair, 47, of Clinton, died of cancer Thursday, Sept. 10, 1998, at her home.
Mrs. Blair was the director of the Knox County office of Americans with Disabilities before her illness forced her to retire.
She was the daughter of Lloyd and Pat Bryson of Clinton. She was a graduate of Clinton High School, a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of the University of Tennessee and a graduate of Vanderbilt University Law School with a doctor of jurisprudence.
Mrs. Blair was a life-long reader and cherished her vast collection of books, the family said. They said her many friends, some dating back to Clinton High days, had been a network of support and encouragement.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth Bryson Blair; three sisters, Karen Kirby and her husband, Kelly, of London, Ky., Janet Myers and her husband, Jim, of Knoxville and Lee Bryson of Clinton; and nieces and nephews, Melissa, John and Michael Kirby, all of London, Ky., Jay Myers of Knoxville and Austin Stepp of Clinton.
The funeral will be at 7:30 tonight, Sept. 14, in the chapel of Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton with the Rev. Jim Myers officiating.
Private graveside services will be held Tuesday, Sept. 15, at Grandview Memorial Gardens in Clinton.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30 tonight at the funeral home.

Margaret Rice Day

Margaret Rice Day, 72, of Oak Ridge, died Sunday, Sept. 13, 1998, at NHC HealthCare of Oak Ridge.
Mrs. Day retired in May 1985 from Martin Marietta Energy Systems after 34 years of employment. She was chief files and records clerk in the Information Division of Oak Ridge National Laboratory.
She was born in Morristown on Oct. 11, 1925, the daughter of Henry Rice and Minnie D. Tinker Rice.
Mrs. Day was a member of First Baptist Church of Oak Ridge. She had attended Roane State Community College and the University of Tennessee Evening School. She enjoyed watercolor painting, the family said.
She is survived by her husband, James H. Day of Oak Ridge; her son, Dr. James H. Day Jr. and his wife, Diane, of Montrose, Colo.; her sister, Lela M. Dean of Whitesburg; and three grandchildren, Janel Day of Englewood, Colo., and Channing Day and Taylor Day, both of Montrose.
Mrs. Day is also survived by two sisters-in-law, Alma Heisler of Knoxville and Joan Boyer of Morristown; two brothers-in-law, Claude W. Day and his wife, Margaret, of Oak Ridge, and John E. Day and his wife, Dorothy, of Tallassee; and by several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, two sisters and three brothers, Ora Keller, Inez Bewley, Clifford Rice, Henry Rice and Dwight Rice, died earlier.
The funeral will be at 8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 15, in the chapel of Weatherford Mortuary with the Rev. Larry Dipboye officiating.
A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 16, at Oak Ridge Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the mortuary.

James Edgar Davis Utility district retiree
James Edgar Davis, 84, of Oak Ridge, died at 9:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 3, 1998, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge.
Mr. Davis came to Oak Ridge with the post office department in 1943, and in the 1950s owned and operated the former Edgewood Steak House at Elza Gate.
He retired in 1980 after 26 years of service with the Oak Ridge Utility District.
He enjoyed gardening, his family said. He was a Baptist.
Mr. Davis was born in Union County in August 1914, the son of May Kelly and James C. Davis. His father was a Baptist minister.
He is survived by his wife, Jerry S. Davis; his two sons, Jimmy R. Davis and David J. Davis, both of Oak Ridge; his stepdaughter and stepson, Lynne Smith and Eddie Smith, both of Oak Ridge; and three granddaughters, Leah Davis, Donna Davis and Kelley Davis.
No memorial service will be held. As Mr. Davis had requested, the body was donated to medical science.
Also as Mr. Davis had requested, the family will commemorate his passing at the family home from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 6.

Matha Jane Tindell, 92, of Andersonville, died Wednesday, Jan. 21, 1998, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge.
Mrs. Tindell was a member of Red Hill Baptist Church in Andersonville.
She was born in Anderson County on Feb. 5, 1905, the daughter of Harvey and Tabitha Poore Clark.
She was the widow of Jake Tindell.
Mrs. Tindell is survived by three daughters, Jean Humphrey and her husband, Everette Humphrey, and Faye Riggs and her husband, Jack Riggs, all of Andersonville, and Ruthena Bailey and her husband, Walter "Bud" Bailey, of Illinois; and two sons, John Tindell and his wife, Sheryl Tindell, and Ray Tindell and his wife, Carol Tindell, all of Andersonville.
She is also survived by 17 grandchildren, including two grandsons she considered special, Brian Riggs and Logan Tindell, and several great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be at 8:30 tonight, Jan. 22, in the chapel of Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton with the Rev. Brian Riggs and the Rev. Gerald Hatmaker officiating.
A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 23, at Red Hill cemetery in Andersonville.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 tonight at the funeral home.
James Ralph Carden

James Ralph Carden, 81, of Oak Ridge, died Friday, Feb. 20, 1998, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge.
Mr. Carden was retired from the Tennessee Valley Authority Forestry Division.
He was born in Anderson County on Oct. 24, 1916, the son of James and Edna Viles Carden. He was a member of Clear Branch Baptist Church in Lake City.
Mr. Carden is survived by two daughters, Carolyn Wilder and her husband, Milton, of Clinton, and Sue Foust of Lake City; a son, James Carden and his wife, Pamela, of Clinton; and four brothers, Gerald Carden and Roy Carden, both of Lake City, Glenn Carden of Powell and Elmo Carden of Edgewater, Fla.
He is also survived by 12 grandchildren, Keith and Tonya Carden of Lebanon, Tenn., Connie Carden and Brian Wilder, both of Oak Ridge, Daniel Wilder and Jordan Kelly Carden, both of Clinton, Carol and Lane Segroves of Knoxville, Paula and Larry Proffitt of Maynardville and Herb Kelly Foust and Carla Burrell, both of Lake City; four great-grandchildren, Tyler Carden and Alexis Carden, both of Lebanon, Tenn., Luke Proffitt of Maynardville and Caleb Burrell of Lake City; and by several nieces and nephews.
His wife, Carrie Carden, and a son, Herbert Carden, died earlier.
The funeral was held Sunday, Feb. 22, at Clear Branch Baptist Church in Lake City with the Rev. Jeff Calloway officiating.
Burial followed at Leach cemetery. The grandsons served as pallbearers.
