Jessie Pearl Martin, 84, of York Ave., Clinton, died Monday, June 8, 1998, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge.
Mrs. Martin was a member of First Wesleyan Church in Clinton. She was a homemaker.
She was born in Oliver Springs on July 1, 1913, the daughter of Dave and Maude Gallion, both now deceased.
She was the widow of Frank Martin Sr.
Mrs. Martin is survived by two daughters, Carolyn Martin of Clinton and Alma Jean Free and her husband, Albert, of Anderson, S.C.; two sons, Earl Martin and his wife, Brenda, of Murfreesboro and Harold Martin and his wife, Cindy, of Clinton; and two sisters, Ruby Coward of Lake City and Bonnie Caswell of Clinton.
She is also survived by 10 grandchildren, Ashley, Brian, Mark, Darrell, James, Leah, Terry, Tammy, Josh and Trish; and by several great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, two daughters and a son-in-law, Betty Martin and Geraldine and John Mitchell, a son, Frank Martin Jr., and two brothers, Paul Gallion and Elmer Gallion, died earlier.
The funeral will be held at 8 tonight, June 10, in the chapel of Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton with the Rev. Samuel Condon and the Rev. Greg Howard officiating.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 11, at McCarty Woodhaven Memory Gardens in Claxton.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at the funeral home.

Maurice H. Mozingo, 77, of LaFollette, died Tuesday, June 9, 1998, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge.
Mr. Mozingo is survived by his wife, Mary E. Mozingo; two daughters, Nancy Jane Goodbread and Katherine Thomas, both of Atlanta; a son, Jeffrey Mozingo of LaFollette; two sisters, Vada Norka of Stow, Ohio, and Betty Davis of Hammond, Ind.; a brother, Silas Mozingo of Stow; and two grandchildren.
The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, June 12, at Well Springs United Methodist Church with the Rev. Bill Hill officiating.
Burial will be at Arlington Memorial Park in Sandy Springs, Ga.
The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at the church.

Roy C. Stone

Roy C. Stone, 77, of Knoxville died at 7:27 p.m. Thursday, June 4, 1998, at Holston Health Care Center of Knoxville.
Mr. Stone was a former Oak Ridge resident. He came here in 1947 and worked for seven years with the Atomic Energy Commission patrol before going to work for Union Carbide Nuclear Division at the Oak Ridge Y-12 Plant. He retired July 1, 1982, after 28 years of service.
A military veteran of World War II, he served with the 87th Depot Repair Squadron in both Italy and North Africa. He stayed active with the 119th Air Control Squadron at McGhee Tyson Air Base in Knoxville until he retired June 8, 1980 as a senior master sergeant.
Mr. Stone was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church when he lived in Oak Ridge.
He is survived by a daughter, Carolyn Hutchins and her husband, Col. Andy C. Hutchins, and grandchildren Brad and Brian Hutchins, all of the Fairfax, Va., and Washington, D.C., vicinity; three brothers and their families, Glenn Stone of Ohio, Jim Stone of Pennsylvania and Bob Stone of Texas.
A son, Richard Stone, died earlier.

Ray Taylor
Retired master mechanic

Ray Taylor, 71, of Oak Ridge, died Monday, June 8, 1998, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge from complications of lung cancer.
Mr. Taylor worked for 21 years as a master mechanic in Flint, Mich., before moving to Oak Ridge in 1972 to be near his family.
He was born Dec. 27, 1926, in Somerset, Pulaski County, Ky., and was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. While aboard ship, his family said, his duties were in the ship's laundry section where doing things right the first time became standard issue.
His tour of duty took him to Okinawa, Japan, during World War II, and his duties changed to combat status. During an engagement with the Japanese army, he was injured and three of his shipmates were killed on the Japanese shoreline by a subsequent mortar attack.
For his efforts, he received the distinguished Purple Heart, reserved only for those injured or killed in the line of duty. He attained the rank of ship's serviceman L 3rd Class and was honorably discharged in 1945. He moved to Flint after his discharge.
In 1975, he went to work for Union Carbide Nuclear Division and received a medical discharge in 1979.
Mr. Taylor is survived by his sister and her husband, Flossie and Jim Denton of Oak Ridge; three sons, Steven Taylor and his wife, Rebecca, and grandchildren, Josh and Abigail, all of Wellesley, Mass., Frederick "Fred" Taylor and his wife, Janice, and grandsons Ian and Zachary and granddaughter Sophia, all of Mount Pleasant, Mich., and Johnathan Taylor and granddaughter Jalyn Kelsey, both of Oak Ridge; an adopted daughter, Liseth Blanco Rivera of Guatemala, Mexico; and by several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be held at 8 tonight, June 10, in the chapel of Weatherford Mortuary with the Rev. Ron Howard French of Oliver Springs officiating.
A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, June 11, at Anderson Memorial Gardens, Oliver Springs Highway, Clinton.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 tonight at the mortuary.

Clarence Robert Wright, 75, of Lenoir City, died Monday, June 8, 1998, at Blount Memorial Hospital in Maryville.
Mr. Wright was retired from Oak Ridge National Laboratory, where he had worked for 32 years.
He was the son of Ethel and Maude Wright, who are now deceased, and he was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
Mr. Wright was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church in Lenoir City.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret Turpin Wright; two daughters, Sandy Poe of Greenback and Vivian Monger and her husband, Allen, of Lenoir City; grandchildren Tommy Shudan, Jason Shudan, Tricia Shudan Jenkins and Casey Poe; a great-grandson, Stetson Jenkins; four sisters, Sue Turpin of Oliver Springs, Marie Norman of Claxton and Jean Rogers and Faye Moneymaker, both of Knoxville; and by several nieces and nephews.
A brother, Harold Wright, died earlier.
The funeral will be held at 8 p.m. Thursday, June 11, in the chapel of Click Funeral Home in Lenoir City with the Rev. Eddie Chasteen officiating.
A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, June 12, at Lake View cemetery in Lenoir City.

John A. Jackson

John A. Jackson, 51, of Coalfield, died Saturday, July 11, 1998, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center from complications incurred during treatment of leukemia.
Mr. Jackson was employed with the Morgan County school system for 30 years. He began his teaching career at Wartburg High School and then moved to his home school in Coalfield to teach and to coach basketball. He was the first principal of Petros/Joyner School, and later was principal at Coalfield School.
From 1980 until recently, he worked at the central administration fffice as Chapter I/Title I director, and assistant superintendent/Title I director. His most recent position was assistant superintendent and food service supervisor. He was also on the board of directors at Camp-E-Sun-Alee.
He was the son of Elbert and Anna Frances Jackson, who are now deceased.
Mr. Jackson was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. Until his illness, he served as a deacon, senior women's Sunday school teacher and discipleship training director.
He was also a member of the Black Diamond Masonic Lodge.
Mr. Jackson is survived by his wife of 23 years, Vicki A. Justice Jackson; a daughter, Jada Leigh Jackson of Coalfield; six sisters, Jewel Cloud and her husband, Paul, of Knoxville, Roberta Cardwell and her husband, Carl, Kathleen Fulp and her husband, Doug, all of Winston-Salem, N.C., Edna Johnson of Oliver Springs, Mac Fritts and Leoda Hawks and her husband, P.D., all of Coalfield; and four brothers, Cecil Jackson and his wife, Joy, Paul Jackson and his wife, Mary, W.R. Jackson and his wife, Phyllis, and David Jackson and his wife, Carol, all of Coalfield.
He is also survived by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Vaughn and Mona Justice; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Chuck and Sherri Justice and Kent and Jennifer Justice, all of Coalfield; and by many nieces and nephews.
Tracy Jenkins was considered a special friend.
In addition to his parents, two sisters, Margaret Jackson Peters and Jane Jackson Hinds, died earlier. Two brothers-in-law, Jim Fritts and Forest Johnson, also died earlier.
The funeral will be held at 8:30 tonight, July 14, at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Coalfield with the Rev. Mack Smith officiating.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 15, at Estes cemetery. Mr. Jackson's nephews will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8:30 tonight at the church.

Mirl Lee Whitmire Stacks, 89, of Sheridan, Ark., died Saturday, July 11, 1998, at her home.
Mrs. Stacks was the mother of Sue C. Scroggs of Oak Ridge.
She was born in the Ico community near Sheridan on July 23, 1908, the daughter of John Edward and Homer Virginia Breazeal Whitmire.
Mrs. Stacks was a homemaker. She was a member of Marlow Missionary Baptist Church at Ico and was a lifetime resident of Grant County, Ark. She and her husband of 68 years, Wesley Luther Stacks, who survives, lived in the same house for the past 50 years, her family said.
She had a love for family and children, her family said. For many years she kept children in her home, and those children continued to visit her through the years.
Mrs. Stacks was an avid quilt maker. Her children and grandchildren were the recipients of the quilts, which she made from clothing they had worn in years past.
In addition to her husband and her local daughter, she is survived by another daughter, Pat Ramsey of East End, Ark.; a sister, Myrtis Stevens of Sheridan; and eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Two other daughters, Betty Jo Stacks and Mary Lou Stacks Wood, and a brother, Basil Whitmire, died earlier.
A graveside service was to be held at 10 this morning, July 14, at Bethel North cemetery near Sheridan with the Rev. C.M. Lewallen, the Rev. Bob Stevens and the Rev. Alvin K. Pitt officiating. Pallbearers were Johnny Ramsey, Al Pitt, Ryan Pitt, Louis Wiggins, Tommy Stevens, Harry Tapp and Buddy Nichols.

Dustin Kozell Catron

Dustin Kozell Catron, 19, of Karns, died Saturday morning, July 18, 1998, at the University of Tennessee Medical Center at Knoxville of injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident.
Mr. Catron was born in Oak Ridge on Dec. 25, 1978, the son of Butch and Sandra Kay West Catron of Karns. He was a graduate of Karns High School.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by two sisters, Laci Catron of the home and Wendi Wisman of Morgan County; his maternal grandmother, Betty West of Oliver Springs; several aunts and uncles, Jessie Nell, Stan Keith, and Betty and Charles Brown, all of Crossville, Eddie and Mary Ann West of Athens, Ala., Bobby and Sherry West of Maryville and Kenneth and Debbie May of Oak Ridge; and two nieces and many cousins.
Danchau Vo was Mr. Catron's girlfriend. Among his special friends were John, Wes, "Big 'R,'" Thomas and Anthony, all of Karns.
His maternal grandfather, Robert A. West, and paternal grandparents, O.C. and Nellie Catron, died earlier.
The funeral will be at 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 21, in the chapel of Weatherford Mortuary with the Rev. Dozier McKinnon officiating.
A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 22, at Oak Ridge Memorial Park.

Tommy 'Tex' Ray Giles

Tommy "Tex" Ray Giles, 50, of Clinton, died Wednesday, Aug. 5, 1998, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge.
Mr. Giles, who was born in Anderson County on May 14, 1948, was a Methodist.
He had served in the U.S. Army, and as a boilermaker he was a member of Union Local No. 453.
Mr. Giles is survived by his wife, Sue Stooksbury Giles; his son, Jason R. Giles and his wife, April, of Clinton; and his granddaughter, Allie Kate Giles of Clinton.
He is also survived by his parents, Rodgie and Mary Jane Giles of Clinton; two brothers, Ralph Giles and his wife, Shirley, of Heiskell, and R.L. Giles and his wife, Debria, of Clinton; and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 7, at Sunset cemetery. The Rev. Bill Sharp and the Rev. Allen Giles will officiate.
