KEITH, KAREN LEE - age 54, of Knoxville, died Monday, July 9, 2001. She was raised in Florida, and graduated from the University of Tennessee. Survivors include daughter, Charlotte Keith Law; Charles Law and family of Knoxville; parents, Harley and Sue Keith of West Palm Beach, Florida; brother, Barry Keith and family of Raleigh, N.C., and many friends and co-workers, who are all left to mourn her passing. Karen was a devoted and wonderful mother to the love of her life, her "miracle baby" Charlotte. She shared a ready smile and encouraging words with everyone. As a special education teacher, she dedicated her life to children with the greatest needs. Her compassionate heart and loving nature touched many lives. Her spirit was best reflected in her music and with the children she cared for. She will be sorely missed by family and friends. LYNSKY, EDMUND LARKIN - 76, formerly of Kalamazoo, Michigan, passed away on Sunday, July 8, 2001, in Knoxville, Tennessee. He was born in Boston, Massachusetts on February 18, 1925. He was a Veteran of World War II, and a 1951 graduate of Northeastern University. He was employed as an electrical engineer at Brown Company in Berlin, New Hampshire, from 1951-1966. He retired from James River Corp. in Kalamazoo, Michigan, and lived there until his recent illness. Predeceased by his wife Dorothy J. Lynsky, who passed away on June 16, 2001. He is survived by two daughters and their families: Joan and Larry Markel and children Evan and Andrea of Knoxville, Tennessee, Arlene and Randy Labnon and children Katherine and Christian of Gorham, New Hampshire, and one sister, Claire Charland of Dedham, Mass. McENTYRE, LLOYD G. - of Knoxville, departed this life, Wednesday, July 11, 2001, at NHC Nursing Home. He was a member of St. Paul Baptist Church. He was self employed. He leaves to mourn his passing, wife, Mrs. Barbara J. McEntyre; children, Lloyd Jr., Carrie and Valarie McEntyre; step children, Samuel P. MOORE, MR. HARRY FOCH - age 82, of Knoxville, passed away Wednesday, July 11, 2001, at his home. Mr. Moore was a member of Rocky Hill Baptist Church, retired from Ft. Sanders Regional Medical Center, and preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Harriet Harrison Moore; brothers, Ester, Jim, Tom and Henry Moore; sisters, Pauline Chambers and Mary Wolfe. SCARBROUGH, ROBERT L. - age 87, of Rancho Cordova, Calif., passed away March 11, 2001, in Carmichael, Calif. He was the son of the late W. R. and Jodie Byrum Scarbrough, on July 29, 1913, in Lenoir City. Preceded in death by parents; brothers, Melford and Gilbert Scarbrough. Mr. Scarbrough had lived in Rancho Cordova for 41 years. He was employed in the music department of California State University, Sacramento, for a quarter century. Mr. Scarbrough served 13 years in the U. S. Navy, where he received a Purple Heart because he was involved in the attack on Pearl Harbor. He then went on to service in the U. S. Air Force for another 10 years. Mr. Scarbrough was a musician in both the military where he played for Tex Beneke's Wartime Service Band, and in civilian life, where he performed for the Sacramento Symphony. He is survived by his wife, Eleanor Scarbrough of Rancho Cordova; son, Lt. Col. (Ret.) Robert L. Scarbrough and wife Linda of Tehachapi, Calif.; daughter, Joan M. Park and husband James of Wasco, Calif.; sisters, Mary K. Scarbrough of Swananoa, N.C., and Edna Jo Larew of Hudson, N.C., and Betty Jean Shore and husband, V. SMITH, DR. JOHN T. - of Knoxville, passed away Wednesday, July 11, 2001, at Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center. He was a Professor Emeritis at University of Tennessee, Knoxville. He was born in Bowling Green, Mo., the son of Oran and Beulah Thurmond Smith. He received his undergraduate degree from Culver College in Culver, Mo., and he earned both his M.S. and Phd. at the University of Missouri. At UTK he received many accolades from both students and the administration and these noted his excellence in teaching and his love for his work. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary M. Smith. Survivors: wife of seven years, the former Fran Cox Thornton; nephew, James Mudd and Nita Richards of Bowling Green, Mo.; step daughter, Judith France of Bozeman, Mont. He was also a member of Second Presbyterian Church, American Chemical Society, Phi Kappa Phi and other professional and honorary organizations. VINEYARD, MARY LOUISE (BLACK) - age 81, of Knoxville, passed away Wednesday morning, July 11, 2001, at U. T. Medical Center. She was the original owner of Gertrude's Fashions in Fountain City. Survived by husband of 60 years, Levi L. WALKER, PROFESSOR CHARLES R., SR. - died on Monday, July 9, 2001, in West Palm Beach, Florida, of heart failure. He was 91. He was a professor of Civil Engineering at the University of Tennessee from 1948 to 1980, and head of the Civil Engineering Department for many years. Professor Walker is survived by his sons, Charles R. Walker, Jr., and Robert Dean Walker, and two granddaughters, Patrice Walker Andrews, and Carol Elaine Walker.
WHEELER, GERRI - born March 16, 1945, in Indianapolis, Indiana, passed away Tuesday, July 10, 2001, at Park West Medical Center. She was an enthusiastic and faithful member of Union Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Gerri was preceded in death by her brother Marshal Delott. Survivors: husband, Charles F. Wheeler; daughter, Suzanne Brown; step-son, Jacob Lawrence Wheeler all of Knoxville; parents, Oscar and Thelma Delott of Carmel, Indiana; brother, Steve Delott of Long Grove, Illinois and sister Cynthia Edwards, of Indianapolis, Indiana.
