BAILEY, KENNETH WAYNE (BUTCH) - age 56, of Luttrell, born November 14, 1944, passed away 6 a.m. Saturday, June 16, 2001. Preceded in death by mother, Stella Hensley Bailey; father, Dennis L. Bailey, Sr.; brother, D. L. Bailey, Jr; sisters, Darlene Bailey Corum and Bobbie Bailey Inklebarger. Survivors include brothers and sisters, Newell Bailey of Luttrell, Mildred Jones of Powell, Dennis D. (Blue Boy) Bailey and Ronald Bailey, both of Luttrell. The family would like to express a special thanks to Dr. Marlin Matician and Jo Owens as well as all of the staff of Greene Valley Developmental Center for years of devoted care. Interment icon 2 p.m. Wednesday, Corum cemetery, Bull Run Road, Luttrell, Rev. Jerry Tharp and Rev. Berry Simmons officiating. BOOTHE, MRS. JEANETTE (TISSIE) GADSON - age 51, of 304 W. Castle Avenue, Syracuse, New York, formerly of Knoxville, Tenn., departed this life on Friday, May 4, 2001. She was the daughter of Alexander and Esther Gadson, born in Knoxville, on August 27, 1949, and moved to Syracuse, New York 15 years ago. One brother, Charles Latham preceded her in death in 1982. Mrs. Jeanette Boothe leaves to mourn her passing and cherish her memory, her husband, Ronald Boothe; two sons, James Gadson and Ronald Scranton III, both of Syracuse; three grandchildren; two sisters, Katherine Gadson (Bedford) of Mexico, N.Y. and Hattie Johnson of Cleveland, Ohio; 10 nieces and nephews, and many cousins. Burial service 5 p.m. Thursday, June 21, 2001, at Haven Chapel cemetery, Claxton, Tenn. Service by Alan Jones. Notice by Jarnigan & Son Mortuary.

BRIMER, HOBERT EARL - age 77, of Wartburg, passed away Monday, June 18, 2001, at his residence. He was of the Baptist faith. He was a United States Navy Veteran who served in World War II. He was a 25 Year Club Member of Inland Steel of East Chicago, Indiana. He was a member of VFW Post #11206 in Amite, Louisiana. Preceded in death by parents, Hobert and Bessie Headrix Brimer; sister, Zelma Janelle Brimer and previous wife, Margaret Brimer. Earl was born January 7, 1924, in Knox County. Survivors: sons, Kevin Brimer of Whiting, Ind., Terry Brimer and wife Naomi of Hammond, Ind., and Jerry Brimer and wife Robin of Santa Clarita, Calif.; grandchildren, Dylan and Ryan Brimer of Santa Clarita, Calif.; sister-in-law, Sue Hutson of Lancing, Tenn.; brothers-in-law, Ed Clark and wife Linda of Mt. Juliet, Tenn., and James Clark and wife Gayle of Franklington, La.; mother-in-law, Dora Clark of Deer Lodge, Tenn., and several nieces, nephews, and a host of friends. The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Thursday, June 21, 2001, at Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton with funeral service following at 8 p.m. in the chapel with Rev. Harold Bankston and Rev. John Shaw officiating. Interment icon will be held 11 a.m. Friday at Highland Memorial in Knoxville with full military honors held by the East Tennessee Veterans Honor Guard. Honorary pallbearers will be Vincent Caveretta, Jr., David Smith, Gerald Melcon, Jr., Charlie Miles, Bob Dillon, T. Q. Heidel, Jr., and Dennis C. CALDWELL, RALPH J. - age 77, of South Knoxville, passed away Tuesday, June 19, 2001. He was a member of Island Home Assembly of God. He was a World War II Veteran and was retired from Royal Beauty Supply. Preceded in death by parents, Filo and Mary Caldwell; sister, Shirley Vandergriff; brothers, Johnny, Frank , and Dennis Caldwell. Survivors include wife of 52 years, Mildred Caldwell; sons and daughter-in-law, Mark and Lisa Caldwell, Rodney and Rhonda Caldwell; very special step daughter, Joy Moore; grandchildren, Chuck Moore and Craig and Renee Moore; great-grandchild, Riley Moore , all of Knoxville; sister and brother-in-law, Sue and Clarence Ogle of Seymour; brothers and sisters-in-law, Don and Ruby Caldwell, and Ronnie and Wilma Caldwell; sister, Connie Keener, all of Knoxville, and several nieces and nephews. CARICO, JAMES RANDOLPH - age 70, of Maryville, passed away Monday afternoon, June 18, 2001, at Asbury Acres Health Care Center. Member of Peck's Memorial United Methodist Church. Veteran of the U. S. Army, having served during the Korean Conflict. CARRELL, EARL ERNEST - age 86, of Alcoa, passed away at his home Monday, June 18, 2001, after a lengthy illness. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Clara Baxter Carrell; daughter, Kaye Eileen McMahan. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Marie Bell Carrell; son, Charles Rodney Carrell; daughter, Anna Leigh Norton; grandsons, Joshua Norton, Thomas Michael McMahan, and Matthew Scott McMahan; granddaughter, Alicia Marie McMahan. Funeral services will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Alcoa, with Rev. Richard Holden and Rev. Henry Linginfelter officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:30-7 p.m. at the church. CARTER, PENNY MONROE - born September 25, 1951. passed away at age 49, June 15, 2001, in the company of her husband, Billy and members of her large family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Goldie and Rowland Monroe. CERVONE, SARAH LUCILLE - age 86, a resident of Germantown, Tennessee, passed away Monday, June 18, 2001. She was preceded in death by her parents, James Robert Fritts and Sarah Rebecca Sheldon Fritts, by her husband, Anthony J. Cervone, and by a daughter, Roberta V. Ailor. Survivors: daughter, Carolyn Singleton and husband T.C. of St. Petersburg, Fla.; son, David Cervone and wife Carolyn of Chicago; nine grandchildren, and 23 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Cervone was born September 10, 1914, in Oliver Springs. She has lived in Knoxville, Florida, Kingsport, and Memphis for the past three years. She was a seamstress and a homemaker. She was a member of the Germantown Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 21, 2001, at 1 p.m. in the chapel of Sharp Funeral Home with Rev. Bryan Wright officiating. CHEN-CHIN "CAROL" RAY - age 37, of Missouri, formerly of Knoxville, passed away Saturday June 16, 2001, in Springfield, Tenn., as the result of an automobile accident. ,Survived by husband, Jim Ray;, mother, Ayu Tang; brother, Wei-chin Wan; ,sister, E-chin Wan. ,The family will receive friends 6-7 p.m. Wednesday at Weaver's Chapel with a memorial service to follow at 7 p.m., Rev. CLEMENTS, ROSALIND CLAIBORNE - age 80, died Monday, June 18, 2001, at her home in Nashville. Mrs. Clements was born and raised in the Knoxville area, attending public schools here and the University of Tennessee, Class of 1944. She and surviving husband, Capt. Daniel C. Clements, USN (RET), were married 57 years ago in the Lincoln Chapel of New York Ave. Presbyterian Church, Washington, D.C., by the noted Scottish Presbyterian Minister, the Reverend Peter Marshall. Following their 30 years together as a Navy family in various locations and travel abroad, Mrs. Clements and her husband retired to country life in Morgan County, operating a small farm until 1992, when they moved to Nashville. Mrs. Clements was a member of the Presbyterian Church most of her adult life and an avid Genealogist. She had been in declining health from Alzheimer's disease for several years. Besides her husband, she is survived by their three children, Diane Claiborne Clements of Nashville, Jerome Baird Clements of Bartlett, Tenn., and Ann Dobson Clements of New York City; six grandchildren; older brother, Carl E. Claiborne of Powell; younger sisters, Neva Claiborne Burke of Oak Ridge, and Ruth Claiborne Rose of Loudon. Family and friends will meet at 3:45 p.m. Wednesday at Greenwood cemetery for a 4 p.m. Graveside and Interment icon Service with the Reverend Wendy Neff officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Middle Tennessee Chapter, 4004 Hillsboro Pike, Nashville, TN 37215. COCHRUM, MANDY "MAUDIE" - age 61, of New Tazewell, Tenn., was born March 1, 1940, and passed away Tuesday, June 19, 2001, at the Claiborne County Hospital. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, June 20, 2001, at the Claiborne Funeral Home. Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Thursday, June 21, 2001, in the Claiborne Funeral Home Chapel. DOTSON, MARGIE GOODMAN - age 75, of Knoxville, Tenn., formerly of Sanford, N.C., passed away Sunday evening June 17, 2001, at the home of her daughter. Margie was affectionately known by her grandchildren as Monnie. She was preceded in death by her husband Rev. Charles H. Dotson, who pastored at the Wesleyan Methodist Church in Troy, N.C., Sanford, N.C., Blacksburg, Va. and Washington, D.C. Margie served faithfully with her husband in the churches as a pianist, Sunday school teacher, missionary society leader and other church activities. She later worked for the U.S. Government in Washington as a secretary and also worked in the White House during her employment with the government. Margie was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Survivors: daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Dr. Morris Tate, with whom she made her home; son and daughter-in-law, Jimmy W. and Connie Dotson of Manassas, Va.; grandchildren, Charles Tate of Nashville, Tenn., Jeff Dotson of Manassas, Va., Alisa Tate of Nashville, Tenn., and Jay Dotson of Manassas, Va; sisters, Grace Wall of Pilot Mountain, N.C., and Betty Hart of Sanford, N.C., and several nieces and nephews. DUNAWAY, VICKI CLAIBORNE - passed away Monday, June 18, 2001, at Fort Sanders Regional Hospital. She was a graduate of Karns High School Class of 1967. Graduate of U.T. Class of 1970, and received her graduate degree from Union College. She was an English teacher and Dept. Chair 1970-1985, Assistant Principal 1986-1992, and Principal of Powell High School from 1992 to the present. She received the Met Life NASSP Principal of the Year in Tennessee for 1996, and was selected Tennessee Secondary Principal of the Year 1995. She was one of 100 educators selected to the Headmasters Association, a national organization. Member of the Renaissance National Advisory Board for Jostens and a member of Education National Board Education Class for the greater Knoxville Chamber of Commerce. She was one of three finalist for Principal Resident for the U.S. Dept. of Education, selected as Student Escort for the Panasonic Japanese Cultural Exchange trip in 1996. She was selected Business Person of the year in 1996, by the Powell Business and Professional Association. Member of Delta Kappa Gamma, Zeta Chapter, and member of Ball Camp Baptist Church. Preceded in death by father, Vick Claiborne. Survivors: son and daughter-in-law, Seth Claiborne and Amy Moon Dunaway; daughter, Amanda Lee Dunaway; mother, Ruth Claiborne; brother and sister-in-law, Ray and Peggy Claiborne; children's father, David Dunaway; nephews, Michael and Tyler Claiborne; aunts, Margaret Duncan, Mary Roberson, and Mary Helen Fox. FISHER, FLOYD H. - age 69, of Talbott, passed away Tuesday, June 19, 2001, at Jefferson Memorial Hospital. He was a member of French Broad Church of Brethern. Preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Ollie Fisher and brother, Luther Fisher. Survivors: wife, Ruth Vincil Fisher; daughter, Beth Fishher of the home; sister, Mary Lou Sartain of White Pine; sister-in-law, Pauline Fisher of Carrollton, Ohio, and several nieces and nephews. Special friend, Bill Brock. Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Sartain Springs Baptist Church cemetery with Revs. T. H. Ferrell and Horace Greene officiating. HENRY, CATHERINE GRAVES - age 75, of Philadelphia, Tenn., passed away Tuesday, June 19, 2001, at the home of her sister, Lorine Graves in Knoxville. She was a faithful member of Cedar Fork Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School for many years. Preceded in death by husband, Richard Henry; parents, Hobert and Retta Rogers Graves. Survived by son and daughter-in-law, Ron and Judy Henry of Knoxville; two grandchildren and spouses, Scott and Celeste Henry, and Kristal and David Sproul, all of Knoxville; great-granddaughter, Sydney Henry; sisters, Lorine Graves of Knoxville, and Della Auer of Maryville; brothers, Henry Graves and wife Jessie of Pigeon Forge, and Billy Graves of Knoxville; several nieces and nephews, and numerous friends.
