RECHENBACH, SHIRLEY JEAN - age 64, died suddenly Sunday afternoon, April 8, 2001, at her home, while she was working in her flower garden. Her caring and giving ways will be missed greatly by her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Virgil and Bernice, and her brother, Virgil Ponto, Jr. She is survived by her loving husband, Tom Rechenbach; children and grandchildren, Randi and Bob McBrayer and their children, Amy and Christopher, Rae Jean and Ray Bettmeng and their children, Matthew and Lauren, Renee and Bill Wiesehuegel and their children, Holly and Jonathan, Todd and Ann Rechenbach and their children, Josiah, Jacob, and James. A Celebration of Mrs. Rechenbach's Life will be held Tuesday at 6 p.m. at St. Mark United Methodist Church. There will be a private interment

ROWAN, JAMES (CAP) - passed away on Sunday afternoon, April 8, 2001, at his home, after a lengthy illness. Preceded in death by parents, Pauline Rowan Johnson and James Rowan, Sr.; sisters, Lillian Johnson, Jewell Hodges, and Barbara Jean Rowan. He is survived by his devoted and loving wife, Bessie; daughters, Patricia Love, Jonetta and Arica Rowan; grandchildren, Clark Love, Ebony and Jeffrey Love of Memphis, Courey, Latronis, and I'yonna Rowan, and Jasmine Bradford; brother, Harvey Rowan of Detroit, Mich.; sisters, Margaret Walton, of Knoxville and Grace (Charles) Cooper, of Pontiac, Mich.; aunt, Agnes Hatley, of Knoxville; cousin, Carrie Barksdale, of Harriman; and so many other relatives and friends who loved him. SCANLON, CHARLES E. - age 87, of the Tellico Village Community, Loudon, Tenn., formerly of Clearwater, Fla., and Southfield, Mich., passed away Saturday April 7, 2001, at the Parkwest Hospital. Charles was born in Braddock, Penn. He was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church. He was retired from Ford Motor Co. Industrial Relations in Dearborn, Mich. He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Zielinski; parents, Stella Manning Scanlon and Edward Scanlon; brother, Robert Scanlon; sister, Rita Scanlon. Survived by children, James Scanlon and wife, Maureen of Dearborn, Mich., Anne Grayewski and husband, David of Loudon, Tenn., and Richard Scanlon and wife, Kathleen of Northport, Mich.; eight grandchildren; 12 great- grandchildren. SHEA, JAMES THOMAS III - age 64, of Knoxville, died Sunday, April 8, 2001. He attended the University of Tennessee and was retired as Vice President of Finance for Fruit of the Loom Corporation. A retired carpenter, he was preceded in death by his son, David Underwood; mother and stepfather, Pearl and Elmer Pierce; grandparents, Walter and Ollie Underwood; brother, J.C. Pierce. WARD, JOSIE WALKER - age 88, born April 14, 1912, in Little Greenbrier in the Smoky Mountains, passed away at 11:04 Sunday at St. Mary's Residential Hospice in Halls. Faithful lifetime servant of the Lord and member of Eighth Ave. Church of God and Dutch Valley Church of God for over 50 years. Preceded in death by husband, James David Ward. WILLIAMS, ELBERT - age 84, of Niota, passed away Wednesday. He was a native of Monroe County and a resident of McMinn County most of his life. He was the son of the late Taylor and Minnie Milsaps Williams. Preceded in death by brother, Grover Williams. A member of East Niota Baptist Church, a retired employee of Alcoa Aluminum Company of America, being a member of the Alcoa 25 Year Club. A former member of the Oak Ridge Police Horse Mounted Patrol and the Oak Ridge Police Department. Survivors: wife, Mary Deakin Williams of Niota; two daughters and sons-in-law, Ann and Darrell Patterson of Chattanooga, and Betty and William Bryant of Athens; three sisters, Dona Burns of Lenoir City, Hazel Pressley of Athens, and Audrey Ratledge of Athens; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild. CAWOOD RAPER - age 78, of Knoxville, born January 13, 1923, in Campbell County, Tenn., passed on to be with her heavenly Father at 3:50 p.m., Saturday, April 7, 2001, at her home, after a short but courageous battle with cancer. Member of Clear Springs Baptist Church. Retired Supervisor from Palm Beach Co., after 45 years service. Preceded in death by parents, William (Bill) and Lillie Cawood; sister, Thelma Huffman, and husbands, J.D. Raper and Don Underwood.
