McDERMOTT, DONALD EVERETT - of Knoxville, formerly of Etowah, Tenn., departed this life Sunday, October 22, 2000, at the University of Tennessee Hospital. He was born February 2, 1949 to Charles A. and Willie M. McDermott. He joined Star Bethel Church, Etowah, Tenn., at an early age. He was a graduate of McMinn Central High School in Englewood, Tenn. and joined the armed forces in 1974 and retired as a Sergeant after 21 years of service. He was employed at the University of Tennessee for 15 years, also employed by Knoxville Community Development Corp., for a number of years. He was united in Holy Matrimony to Phyllis J. McDermott for 17 years. Preceded in death by parents, Charles A. and Willie McDermott; sisters, Mary Sherlene Chandler and Robbie Lee McDermott; brother, Earl McDermott. He leaves to mourn his passing, devoted and loving wife, Phyllis McDermott; daughter, Revae; sons, Mark of Cleveland, Tenn., Donald Jr. and Christopher McDermott of Knoxville; step sons, Andrew and Eric of Knoxville; seven grandchildren; sisters, Nancy L. Upson and Alice Coleman of Aiken. S.C., Nora J. (James) Turk of Knoxville; brothers, Lee Roy McDermott and Charles E. (Jacqueline) McDermott of Knoxville, Luther C. (Linda) McDermott of Etowah, Tenn., Jerry L. (Billie) McDermott of Cleveland, Tenn.; uncles, George A. McGINNIS, NOAH ALVIN - age 66, of Knoxville, passed away Saturday, October 21, 2000, at U.T. Hospital. He was Co-Owner and former instructor at the Tri-City Barber College on Central Avenue. He was a master barber since 1955, member of Lonsdale Baptist Church, member of Mascot Lodge F&AM, and member of the Knoxville Rescue Squad, helping build the building on Holston Drive. Preceded in death by sister, Mrs. Jean Harless. Survivors: wife, Joyce Copeland McGinnis; son, Robert McGinnis of Knoxville; daughter, Michelle Brewer and son-in-law, Scott Brewer of Morristown; son, Mike McDaniel of Lenoir City; grandchildren, Caitlyn Elizabeth Brewer and Jon-Michael McDaniel; brother, Walter E. McINTURFF, ELIZABETH M. - age 94, of Maynardville, passed away Monday, October 23, 2000, at Hillcrest North. She was a graduate of East Tennessee State University, where she earned a B.S. Degree and taught in the Knox County School System for 30 years and retired in 1971. Preceded in death by parents, David B. and Asche Ferguson McInTurff; brothers, Earl McInTurff and David B. McInTurff and sister, Nell M. Mynatt. Survived by sister, Louise Robinson of Flintstone, Ga.; nephews, Eugene R. Mynatt of Maynardville, David E. MINOR, WILLIAM FREDERICK "BILL" - age 67, of Oak Ridge, died Monday, October 23, 2000, at the Methodist Medical Center. Member and Deacon of Robertsville Baptist Church. Survived by wife of 48 years, Arial McGinnis Minor; sons, Michael Minor and wife Sara and Neil Minor and wife Stacey; daughter, Vicky Wallace and husband John; sisters, Dorothy Kitchen, Lillian Mentz, Gloria Glandon and Marilyn Lawrence; brother, Ritchie Minor; four grandchildren; three step grandchildren; two step great-grandchildren. Special to him was his brothers-in-law, Ray McGinnis and Roger McGinnis and his wife Reba. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 25, 2000, at 8 p.m. at Weatherford Mortuary with Dr. Michael Prince officiating. Private graveside services will be held at Anderson Memorial Gardens. PATTERSON, JOHN DARRYL - age 57, of Knoxville, passed away Monday, October 23, 2000. He was of the Methodist faith. Preceded in death by father, Roy A. Patterson. Survived by son, John Darryl Patterson II; mother and step father, Lorene Patterson and Oliver W. Baker; brother and sister-in-law, Ronald and Gaile Patterson; sisters and brothers-in-law, Rebecca and Jim Burge and Sandy and Jim Holbrook; two nephews; four nieces. Family and friends will meet at Mynatt's at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday and proceed to Anderson-Gouffon cemetery for a graveside service at 11 a.m., Rev. Steve Tuck officiating. Pallbearers: Steven Patterson, Jim Holbrook, Rick Combs, Jim Burge, Jimmy Holbrook, and Dr.John McLaughin. RASCH, JANET - age 67, died peacefully on October 22, 2000, born in Providence, R.I. She graduated from Oberlin College and the University of Pennsylvania, before moving to Knoxville. She served as President of Planned Parenthood of East Tennessee and CISV (Children's International Summer Villages) and was an active contributor and/or officer in the following organizations: The Mental Health Association, Rape Crisis Center, Knoxville Choral Society, Knoxville College Fellowship Camp, Phyllis Wheatley YWCA Summer Camp, Compassionate Friends and Rid (Remove Intoxicated Drivers). She taught computer literacy at U.T In addition, she was a dedicated advocate for Victims of Crime and headed the Victims' Rights Task Force for the State of Tennessee. Her compassion and generosity will never be forgotten by the many people whose lives she touched. She was predeceased by her daughter, Diana Lynn Rasch. She is survived by her husband, Dr. Norman L. Rasch and children, Brenda Rasch, Sharon Rasch and Kevin Rasch; son-in-law, Chuck Flett; daughter-in-law, Amy Rasch and grandchildren, Kerry Flett, Allie Flett, Tyler Rasch, Alyssa Rasch and Sylvia Rasch, all of Knoxville. The family requests, that flowers not be sent. PRYOR, CHERYL LYNN WHITE - age 31, of Farragut, died suddenly Sunday, October 22, 2000. She was a 1987 graduate of Farragut High School and a graduate of the University of Tennessee, where she was a member and sorority president of Delta Delta Delta. Cheryl Lynn was a member of Central Baptist Church of Bearden. She had worked for several years and served as assistant store manager for Talbot's. She was a beloved mother, wife, daughter and sister to her husband, Robert E. (Robbie) Pryor, Jr.; children, Shelby Pierce Pryor and John Andrew Pryor; parents, David and Sandy White; sister and brother-in-law, Angie and Greg Bloomfield; brother, Michael White, all of Farragut; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Robert E. (Bob) and Norma Pryor of Knoxville; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, John and Tecia Puckett Pryor of Smithville; sister-in-law, Amy Pierce Pryor of Knoxville; maternal grandmother, Wilona Gritzner of Knoxville, and nephew, Cameron Bloomfield. Funeral service 8 p.m. Tuesday at Central Baptist Church of Bearden with Dr. Larry W. Fields officiating. Family and friends will meet Wednesday at Highland Memorial cemetery for a 10 a.m. interment icon service. REED, MARIE - age 79, of Knoxville, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, October 21, 2000. Member of Black Oak Heights Baptist Church. Preceded in death by husband, Byrd William Reed. Survived by children, Jack, Kenneth, Wendall, and Bill Reed, Joyce Turner, Carol Burleigh and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sisters, Lucille Moon and Dorothy England of Florida, Ruby Lyons, Betty Webb and Norma Webb, all of Knoxville. Funeral service 8 p.m. Monday, October 23, at Black Oak Heights Baptist Church, Rev. Clarence Wells officiating. RUTHERFORD, JAMES EVERETTE - age 86, of the Lick Creek Community, LaFollette, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, October 22, 2000, at U.T. Medical Center, Knoxville. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Wilma Jean Kitts; infant granddaughter, Donna Faye Kitts; father and mother, Abner and Nancy Rutherford; sisters, Flossie E. and Mossie L. Rutherford, Minnie Perry, Evelyn Sebby and Pernie Rutherford; half-brother and sister, Andrew Branam and Martha Jane Branam; son-in-law, Howard Baird, Jr. Survivors: wife of 65 years, Myrtle A. Roberts Rutherford of LaFollette; daughter, Evelyn Bernice Huddleston and husband John L. of White Oak; granddaughters, Janet Leigh Kitts and Lisa Renee Asbury of LaFollette; Tamitha Jean Muse and husband Rev. STANSBERRY, FRANK D., SR. - age 67, passed away Saturday, October 21, 2000, at Fort Sanders Parkwest Hospital. Member of Trinity United Methodist Church since 1963. Graduate of the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. U.S. Army Veteran and member of South Knoxville Masonic Lodge No. 769. Retired from TVA in 1988, as Head of Highway, Railroad, Bridge Design and Site Development. Preceded in death by parents, Alvin H. and Edith Nelson Stansberry; brothers, Hilton and Neal Stansberry; sister, Muriel Trotter and parents-in-law, Leon and Elizabeth Brewer. Survived by wife of 46 years, JoAnne Brewer Stansberry; daughter, Deborah Stansberry; son, Don Stansberry; daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Tony Stansberry; granddaughter, Anne McCall Stansberry; brother, Ed Stansberry; sister, Betty Loy, and several nieces and nephews. SALEEM, LAWRENCE YUSELF - age 56, of 4301 Del Mabry Dr., Knoxville, departed his earthly life for a greater life eternal on Friday evening, October 20, 2000. His life truly exemplified Godly principles to both his family and in the lives of many others. A model of supreme character and Godly wisdom, he was a light to the many lives that he touched.
