JACKSON, MARGARET HELSLEY, age 86, of Knoxville, born May 11, 1913 in Knoxville, Tennessee, passed away Monday September 20, 1999 at the home of her daughter. Preceded in death by husband, John W. Jackson, Sr.; daughter, Louise Ann Jackson. Margaret was a long time teacher with Knox County schools, retiring from Fountain City Elementary school in 1979. She was a member of Magnolia Avenue United Methodist Church, where she was a soloist and sang in the choir for over 50 years. She will be remembered for her beautiful voice, her wonderful countenance and the grace with which she lived her life, especially the last five years. Survivors include her children, Jill and Bert Gill of Knoxville, Gordon and Virginia Jackson of Atlanta, John and Cindy Jackson of Tampa, Fla., Richard and Susie Jackson of Elkin, NC, Jane and Charles Crutchfield of Charlotte, NC. MITCHELL, MARY BOWEN - of West Knoxville, formerly of Bristol, Va., passed away Monday, September 20, 1999, at St. Mary's Hospital. She was a member of Central Baptist Church of Bearden. Mrs. Mitchell had been active in Girl Scouts as a leader, had served on the board of directions for the Knoxville chapter of the lupus foundation and had helped form a chapter in Kingsport and Bristol, had been a volunteer at UT Hospital, a senior companion through the office of aging, and a former president of the residents council at Westview Towers. She was the widow of John W. Mitchell and was also preceded in death by her parents, Grady Isaac and Mary Alice Bowen; sister, Margaret Bolling; and brother, Dan (Curly) Bowen. PYLES, ROSA LEE - age 87, passed away Tuesday, September 21, 1999, at the Methodist Medical Center. Mrs. Pyles was a member of Faith Missionary Baptist Church of Andersonville. She was retired from Palm Beach Company. Mrs. Pyles was preceded in death by her husband, James Samuel Pyles; four brothers, Lee Canupp, Dewey Canupp, Brown Canupp, and Russ Canupp; by an adopted son, Elbert Pyle and a grandson, Bruce Pyle. She is survived by two granddaughters, Jessica Golden and Michelle Pyle, both of Andersonville; one grandson, Roger Pyle; and one great-grandson, Darin Pyle, both of Andersonville.
