Harold Porterfield, Sr.

Porterfield, Sr., Harold, age 85, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Tuesday morning, November 16, 2004. Retired from Palm Beach Clothing Company in 1985 after 40 years. He proudly served as Private First Class in the United States Army for 6 years with the Sixth Calvary during WWII. Harold loved his family, his country and rabbit hunting.

He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Dorothy; daughters, Jo Ann Garner and Vickie Huskey; sons, Ernie, Harold, Jr. and Michael Porterfield; brother, Clyde Porterfield; sister Eva Torbett; 11 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and wonderful friends and neighbors.

She was a member of South Knoxville Baptist Church and retired from Miller’s Department Store after 54 years of service. Preceded in death by parents, James Brownlow and Addie Belle Cole Evans; husband, Carl (Purp) Wester; brothers, Clyde, Claude, Raymond, and Edward Evans; sisters, Zella Evans Finger and Helen Evans Price.

Anna Mae’s hobbies included selling Avon and she enjoyed working in flowers which led her to accomplish certification in flower arranging. She was preceded in death by husband of 64 years, James M. Chasteen.

She is survived by sons, Marvin J. Chasteen and wife, Dorothy, Ronald D. Chasteen and wife, Wanda, Don A. Chasteen and Cathy Thurman; 6 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; 8 great-great grandchildren; and one very special baby. She is also survived by brother, Lawrence and sisters, Bonnie and Mary.

He was a very special child with a joy and love of life and energy that touched everyone that met him. In spite of his mental and physical limitations, he had a strong spirit and gift of laughter that will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. Don’t grieve for his passing but celebrate the gift of life he will give through organ donation that others may live on through him. He was preceded in death by twin brother, Michael.

Mr. Davis was also the owner and operator of Davis Refinishing. Preceded in death by parents, Charles and Anne Davis and daughter, Jerrie “Bucky” Davis.

Roy Barton “Sorrell” Lindsey

Lindsey, Roy Barton “Sorrell” –age 92, of Knoxville, passed away on Thursday, March 3, 2005 at Baptist Hospital. He was a member of Sevier Heights Baptist Church. Mr. Lindsey was a streetcar operator and the last surviving employee of the Knoxville Transit Lines having retired at the age of 67. He was also a member of the Charles McKinley Masonic Lodge and was an avid gardener. Mr. Lindsey lived a vibrant and active life and died peacefully as a result of complications from a recent fall. He is preceded in death by wife, Naomi Knight Lindsey.

Rule, Rex Carroll –age 78, of Dandridge, passed away on Sunday, February 5, 2006 at Life Care Center in Jefferson City. He was a veteran of the United States Navy having served during World War II. Following in the footsteps of his father, a Methodist Church minister, he was a camp manager for the United Methodist Camps for 20 years including Camp Lookout, Chattanooga, Camp Johnston Woods, Cleveland and Wesley Woods, Townsend. He was a Judicial Commissioner in Jefferson County during his retirement. He was an avid cook and fisherman. Preceded in death by parents, Rev. Perry T. Rule and Dora Lee Parton Rule; sisters, Mary Jo Rule Trent, Eugenia Rule Nabers; brother, Willie Frank Rule; and son, John Thomas Rule.

Preceded in death by wife, Edythe Money Tipton; father and mother, Alfred Isaac and Annie Johnson Tipton; sister and brother-in-law, Mildred Maxine and H.C. (Ben) Wallen.

Rev. G.W. DeLatte, age 79, of North Knoxville, went to be with the Lord on February 2, 2006. He was Pastor of Wings of Faith Church and a servant of the Lord for 56 years.

DeLatte; daughters and son-in-law, Sherry and Stan Kasior and Tina and Todd Tracey; daughter, Norma Ray Johnson; sons and daughter-in-law, Wayne and Kathy DeLatte, Bruce and Joan DeLatte, and Earl and Mary Frances DeLatte. He was dearly loved by all his grandchildren, Ashley, Jessica, Rachel, Bruce, Jr., Tonka, Brian, Terry, Paul, Amanda, Nicole, and Tasha; and also several great grandchildren; brothers, Carl and wife Beth DeLatte and Draford and wife Betty DeLatte; several nieces and nephews; and many, many friends all over the world.
