Keener, Blanche Bohanan, age 94, of Knoxville, TN, passed away Wednesday, May 19, 2004 at NHC Knoxville. Mrs. Keener taught school in Knox and Sevier Counties for 44 years, with 29 of them at Mt. Olive School. She retired in 1974. Member of Paw-Paw Hollow Baptist Church. Preceded in death by her husband, Vondis D. Keener; mother and father, Tom and Laventine Bohanan; two brothers, Clifford W. Bohanan and Ross W. Bohanan; and one sister, Nora B. Huhn.

Loving and devoted daughter and son-in-law, Wanda Jean and Bill Newman of Knoxville, TN; grandchildren, Ricky H. Newman of Knoxville, TN; Kenny V. Newman and wife, Karen of Alcoa, TN; four precious great-grandchildren, Justin, Kyle, Kayla and Kaitlyn Newman; one nephew and two nieces. Maples, Charles Dewey, age 64, of Seymour, died suddenly on Wednesday, June 2, 2004. He was a member of Valley Grove Baptist Church. Owner of L&M Printing in Maryville and was retired from the Naval Reserves with 22 years of service. Preceded in death by father, W.C. Maples, Sr. of Seymour.

Graduate of Central High School in 1967 and Nathaniel Hawthorne College. Employed by the Knox County Sheriff’s Department. Formerly employed by Marrimack County Penal Institution in New Hampshire and also served as U.S. Deputy Marshal. Veteran of the United States Marines. Preceded in death by parents, Glenn & Irene Perry; grandparents, Tom & Veda Perry and Albert & Grace Burnette.

Haynes, Mr. William Kenneth (Ken), age 86, of Knoxville, passed away Monday, May 24, 2004 at his home. He was born
in Knoxville on March 12, 1918 to parents, Myrtle Cruze Haynes and William Henry Haynes. He was married to Beth White Haynes who died in 1996. He attended Knoxville Catholic High School and Knoxville Business College. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Mr. Haynes was a devoted father of five children; grandfather of 11; and great-grandfather of 4. He was a retired manufacturer’s representative and an avid University of Tennessee sports fan.
Survivors
He will be greatly missed by daughters and sons-in-law, Sharon and Steve Lucking, Sheila and Larry Rauen, Cindy and Roger Dunn, and Beth and George Walker; son, Kenneth M. Haynes and his special friend Grace Dadoyan. Also survived by siblings, Virginia Ezell, Richard, Randall and Eugene Haynes. Also preceded in death by three brothers, Herman, Ray and Jay; two sisters, Emma and Nina. He was a ceramic tile contractor in Tennessee, Florida and Georgia.

Kennedy, III, Lawrence T. (Nick), passed away suddenly Sunday afternoon, May 23, 2004 from complications of epilepsy. Preceded in death by brother, Michael Allen Kennedy.

He is survived by his loving family including father and stepmother, Dr. and Mrs. Lawrence T. Kennedy, Jr.; his mother and stepfather, Ludell N. and H. Dean Coffey; brothers, B. Neill Kennedy and Phillip B. Kennedy; sister, Jennie Kennedy Tate; brother-in-law, Al B. Tate; niece, Caitlyn Elizabeth Tate; nephew, Zachary Allen Tate; fiancée, Kathy Ratliff; many good friends including Brian Harding, Walter Burnett, Delmar Browning, Carol Ricker, and Melanie Johnson. He is also survived by his special canine companions, Mr. Barley, Rooney, Mad Dog, and Raisin. Nick was a talented artist and had a special gift for meeting people. Nick never met a stranger. He handled life’s curve with grace and good humor.

Rogers, Linda S. Beard, age 57, of Knoxville, went to be with her Lord and Savior Christ Jesus on June 4, 2004 at her home. Linda was a faithful wife and mother. She was a member of Providence Missionary Baptist Church of Seymour, TN. Affectionately known as “The Warden,” Linda was a loyal employee of the Knox County School System for 12 years. Until the end of her fight with cancer, she found great comfort and strength from her dearest friends at South Doyle Middle School. Preceded in death by father, Charles Reps Beard; mother, Margaret Ruby Beard; brother, Samuel Richard Beard.

Devoted husband of 33 years, Samuel F. BLACK, CHARLES EDWARD age 73 of North Knoxville received God’s final gift on May 17, 2004. Daddy has joined his parents, Margaret Irene and Ernest Black and his siblings: Eugene, Hazel, Robert, James ( Bud ) and Ernest in Heaven. Charlie was a retired welder from Knox-Tenn Rental. He was a Veteran of the Korean conflict and a proud member of the 101st Airborne Division.
Survivors
He leaves behind his loving family, his former wife, Betty of 39 years; his three girls and their husbands Rhonda and Dene French, Sharon and John Kelley, Karen and Jon Cook. And lastly, Papaw leaves behind Margaret Grace, his only grandchild and light of his life Maggie hung his sun, stars and moon. We are going to miss your watermelons in the summer, Daddy. Charlie is also survived by brothers and sisters, John Black, Mary de la Rocha, Deanna Parker, Carol Kitchens, Kyle Black and Margaret Tatem. Several nieces and nephews.

Nuchols, Rebecca Marie, age 20, and infant daughter Kaley Marie went to be with Jesus on Saturday, May 15, 2004 after a tragic car accident. She was a 2001 Honor Graduate of Seymour High School and was employed by Adventure Group of Sevierville. She was a member of the former Miracle Baptist Church on West Ford Valley Rd. She was a loving daughter and will be sadly missed by family and friends.
